2007 Chrysler Pacifica Review: Not 2007’s Best Mid-Size SUV, but Maybe the Best for the Price

Gilbert Smith
May 17, 2023

The 2007 Chrysler Pacifica typically sells for less than $5,000, and that’s a really tempting price-point in this day and age. While it’s easy to point out that the Toyota Sienna or the Highlander is more fuel-efficient, they can cost twice as much as the comfy, low-maintenance Pacifica.

Front angle medium view.
likeFilled The Good
The Pacifica is comfortable, affordable, low-maintenance, and surprisingly fun to drive.
dislikeFilled The Bad
Low ceilings are a reminder of why all those wagon-style cars from the 2000s were so short-lived.

Is the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica a Good Used Car?

  • Overall Rating 8/10 – The Pacifica is what you might call a solid B+. It’s not the best crossover SUV on the market, but it’s better than you expect for the price.
  • Interior, Comfort & Cargo 8/10 – Third row seating may be a bit tight, but beyond that, you’ve got smooth suspension, comfortable second-row captain’s chairs, and surprisingly high-end interior trim.
  • Reliability 8/10 – It might not outlast a Toyota, but repairs are cheap, and you probably won’t have any big ones to worry about before you hit 200,000 miles.
  • Safety 8/10 – Anti-lock brakes and stability control come standard, and the SUV earned solid ratings in its crash tests.
  • Gas Mileage 7/10 – 20 miles to the gallon, combined, isn’t terrible, but it’s pretty mediocre, even for a 2007 mid-size SUV.
  • Value 8/10 – If you’re looking for a mid-size SUV and you don’t want to spend a fortune, the Chrysler Pacifica might just be the best deal you’re going to get.

All around amazing car! Would definitely advise it.
Very comfortable. Powerful. Great all wheel drive and great space for the whole family! Front and rear air conditioner and heat. All electronic. All around great car. Larger tire and larger body. A little heavy on gas. So cuts down mileage. About the same as driving a truck.

They don't make that body style anymore. It has loads of cargo space and can seat 6 passengers

The passenger space is good and the overall quality of car
I love this car the space is great for my family of five. We use the car for pleasure and my husband drives to work everyday. I haven't had any problems with the car and I had it for four years. I would buy the car again. The only thing I wish it had was a sunroof and a bigger trunk area for storage.

I love the vehicle that I'm thinking about getting the newer one soon
It's a good car and handles good on the highway. Excellent for going on trips. Saves you on gas, hold 7 people in the vehicle.haven't had to put in a lot of money for repairs. If you are handicap, it's perfect for a hoveround. Excellent for going shopping, beach, hiking, etc.

Great family vehicle and amazing for road trips.
When the car shifts gears it jerks into the changing gear. This car is very safe, the airbag system installed ensures the safety of those within the car. Very comfortable, fits a total of 6 people. Leather interior, DVD player, front wheel drive. A few issues with the steering wheel slipping, but it is easy to fix. Average gas mileage.

My vehicle the good and the bad.
The timing belt keeps jumping. The engine light comes on. Then the car shuts off when driving. In the morning if the car is cold it is hard to start. It is not at very comfortable car for the kids. On long trips the back seating does not have good legroom. I did like the plug in for the phones. The radio didn't get good reception.

It is dependable, and the computer system lets you know as soon as anything wrong.
The pacifica has so many issues with the computer system. Unfortunately Chrysler has not been any help in the whole situation so I cannot stand the quality or customer service.

Pacifica buy at your own risk
To many issues with not wanting to start. Rough leaks water through sunroof. Stalls going down the road. Have to put in neutral and restart going down the road. Not sure what else to put need to put more words in here not sure why I thought with what I put it was obvious this car isn't safe been like that since I got it.

Third row too small for space.
Bad on gas, too small for family of five. Has sunroof. And DVD player, needs better radio or AUX plug.

Transmission goes out your car becomes worthless since it costs too much.
Everything keeps breaking, the transmission, abs, radiator and my abs app went out, wheel bearing too. I hate that, but it is roomy so I do like that.
accountCircle Danna U
That this car has a lot of mechanical issues. Including the abs system.
I like that it has a third row. I do not like that there is no ac in the third row. I like that it gets 36 mpg on hwy. I do not like that it only gets 18 mpg in town.

What Do Critics Say About the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica?

Consumer Reports liked the new engine and transmission in the 2007 Pacifica, calling it a pleasant, comfortable, responsive cruiser. They commend Chrysler for delivering a crossover that really feels like a crossover, driving more like a station wagon than a truck.

Kelley Blue Book note that the low ceiling and the lack of a V8 engine option may turn off some drivers. But, the sport wagon build, the long list of optional features, and the second-row captain’s chairs all earned strong praise from KBB’s editors.

Edmunds were impressed by the Pacifica’s roomy, first-class interior, and they found the car surprisingly easy to handle for its size. They report that the advertised seating for six is technically accurate, but the back row can get a bit tight. They also felt that the base V6 engine was a bit slow to accelerate.

What Common Problems Does the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica Have?

The 2007 Chrysler Pacifica has generated 377 complaints with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Powertrain issues take the lead at 101 complaints, with drivers reporting cracks in the transmission leaking, transmission fluid.

Engine take a close second place at 92, with drivers reporting corroded motor mounts, which can result in the engine essentially bouncing around in the compartment.

The NHTSA has investigated potential engine fires resulting from steering fluid leaks, but the final investigation was closed without any recalls being issued.

There have been no recalls as yet for the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica.

How Long Will the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica Last?

Drivers typically report the Chrysler Pacifica lasting around 200,000 to 250,000 miles on the original transmission. You may be able to pass a quarter million without incident if you take excellent care of your SUV, but, when you’re deciding whether it’s worth the sticker price, bet on the lower end just to be safe.

Repaipal report a typical maintenance cost of around $507 a year, with the most expensive common fixes being new oil pumps starting at around $685, parking brake shoes at $292, and trans mount replacements at $267.

It is very reliable. It starts every time. Oh, one problem is that I do have to shift to neutral to start on occasion.

accountCircle Janet R

My Chrysler pacifica base is very reliable. And no my 2007 Chrysler pacifica does not have any problems.

accountCircle Brandy W

Yes very reliable. Haven't had no problems yet. Only thing I would like is a newer one. And better gas Mileage.

accountCircle Corey T

When the struts wear out it's like a bouncy house in the car. Or like a lowrider stuck in jump mode. It's fun but it does get tiresome.

accountCircle James P

Yes and no. It. Used. To be a good car no it overheats. And gas light don't work along with the gauge. It won't change rpms sometimes either.

How Is the Technology?

Standard entertainment technology in the 2007 Pacifica is a bit basic. You get a CD player, and that’s just about it. But, the high-end Limited edition comes with a CD/MP3/DVD player, and that ain’t bad for an SUV that’s old enough to get its own driver’s license.

Safety technology in the 2007 Pacifica isn’t bad for 2007. Anti-lock brakes and stability control come standard. Nothing here is cutting edge, even for the model year, but it’s adequate, and Parksense parking assist is included in the Limited.

Is the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica a Good Value?

The 2007 Chrysler Pacifica is a pretty good deal. An entry-level Sport Wagon typically sells for around $4,170, while a high-end Limited will typically go for around $5,020.

Fuel economy could be a little better but otherwise the Pacifica comes with a fairly low cost of ownership, with few major breakdowns and cheap maintenance bills. If you’re looking for a basic SUV at a low price, the Pacifica should be somewhere near the top of your “maybe” list.

What are the Different Models of the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica?

The 2007 Chrysler Pacifica is offered in three models, from the base Sport Wagon to the high-end Limited.

In the entry-level Sport Wagon you’re getting:

  • Dual zone manual air conditioning
  • Remote keyless entry
  • CD player
  • Anti-lock brakes and traction control
  • Premium cloth seating

The mid-range Touring adds:

  • Third row seating

With the top-of-the-line Limited you’re adding:

  • Luxury leather seating

What Engines Come In the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica?

  • The 2007 Pacifica comes packed with a 4.0L V6 engine delivering 253 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque. This is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission in front/all wheel drive, and it averages 16/24 miles to the gallon, city/highway.

What Colors Does the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica Come In?

How Comfortable Is the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica?

The 2007 Chrysler Pacifica is very comfortable, but the third row is a kids-only zone. The suspension has held up well over the years, you’ve got 56 inches of hip room, and the second-row captain’s chairs are a nice touch, ensuring that nobody feels the need to call shotgun.

How Much Storage Space Does the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica Have?

With the back row folded flat you’ve got 79 cubic feet of cargo space. With no third row, you can pack up to 92 cubic feet of cargo, making it one of the bigger mid-size crossovers in the storage space department.

Centered wide dash shot

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The 2007 Chrysler Pacifica was second vehicle to carry the nameplate. The crossover was predated by a Pacifica minivan in the early 2000s. The SUV version of the car ran from the 2004 model year to 2008.

2004: The Pacifica launched as a mid-size crossover SUV with just one trim level in 2004.

2005: Trims were split into the Base, Touring, and Limited editions for 2005, adding faux wood trim to the higher end models.

2006: There were no major changes for 2006.

2007: 2007 saw the exterior getting a slight redesign with brand new headlights, hoods, and grilles.

2008: The final model year for the Pacifica, the 2008 edition rolled out with a limited run and no major changes.

How Does the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica Compare to the Competition?

The 2007 Toyota Highlander is arguably the very best mid-size SUV released in 2007. It’s low-maintenance, endlessly dependable, and fuel-efficient, averaging a combined 22 miles to the gallon. It can also sell for up to ten grand, more than twice the cost of an entry-level Pacifica.

A 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan is a little more reasonably priced, averaging about a thousand dollars more than a comparable Pacifica. But 2007 was a lousy year for the otherwise dependable nameplate, with fuel pump and power steering failure being pretty common.

The 2007 Chrysler Pacifica is neither the best minivan nor the best mid-size SUV released in 2007, but it’s a better crossover than you expect for under five grand.

One things I like about my vehicle is that everything is electrical.
The vehicle I have which is a 2007 Chrysler pacifica, has been very good to me it runs very well still and I've had it for more than 10 years and still running strong. It is highly comfortable has heated seats, bass boosted sound system, and has a v6 4.0 liter engine. Very reliable on gas and great for the family.

I love my car. We bought it when it was 10 years old and have little trouble with it. We have been told that the transmission, which is sealed, has a leak, but we have not seen any problems. We had a bent rim but were able to get a replacement from a junkyard.

One of the most beautiful, comfortable, and fuel efficient cars I've ever owned.
Extremely comfortable seats, the computer has never given me issues, always accurate, I get 15 mpg which is also displayed on the computer, the only issue I've had is that if your key is turned to the auxiliary position on accident- the battery dies within 10-20 minutes unless you start the car, and that's with a brand new battery.

Chrysler Pacifica is a fine car but maintenance is a nightmare.
The biggest issue is that since it's an electric car not too many traditional mechanics have been able to resolve its problems. Most recently the problem was the car was smoking after being driven to a certain extent. Which is also causing an egg like smell to come into the car.

I love my car mostly because even though it is a crossover vehicle, it is on a car chassis and drives like a car not a truck. When I test drove it the thing that struck me most was how good the brakes were without pulling to left or right. I have had the car for 70, 000 miles and it is been very good except for the sensors seem to malfunction a lot, and some of the body trim could be better it is coming loose in places. But otherwise I still really enjoy driving this vehicle and think it was good value.
