The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica lasts around 200,000 miles with some relatively minor coolant sensor and check engine light issues reported. At $24,350 to $35,250, it’s a decent value for a minivan with an upscale interior.

likeFilled The Good
The cabin offers a lot of upscale materials, the visibility is great with the large windows and the suspension is very smooth.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The third row has less legroom than some other minivans, the transmission is clunky and the ownership costs get higher as it ages.

Is the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica a Good Used Minivan?

  • Overall Rating 8/10 – 2020 is a good year for the Chrysler Pacifica since it offers a lot of luxury paired with practicality. Owner reviews praise the smooth suspension, spacious cabin, along with the low ownership costs.
  • Interior, Comfort & Cargo 9/10 – Interior materials are luxurious for a minivan, the seats are comfortable on longer trips, cargo space is also great for its size.

  • Safety 8/10 – The 2020 Pacifica is a safe minivan earning a perfect 5-star rating in government crash tests. There’s a standard rearview camera along with blind spot monitoring. Optional upgrades include adaptive cruise control, as well as automatic emergency braking.

  • Value 7/10 – The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica is cheaper than some other vans, although rapid depreciation lowers its overall value score.

Great family van that is fun to drive!
I just bought this vehicle and or is amazon. It handles like a smaller car and is fun to drive. The best is the entertainment package for the kids, they love it. The safety features are great like the lane assist. I have already used the navigation a bunch of times. I also like the voice assist feature.

I just love it! If you are looking for a sleek family car this is the one for you.
We recently traded in our crossover for the Chrysler pacifica, and we absolutely love it. Tons of space and great family car. It has automatic opening doors, auto start, heated front seats. It also has the stow and go feature which is perfect for when you need to haul something large!

Plenty of space for family fun - Vango!
No problems. The car is a great purchase. It has plenty of features and space for my family. The storage space is great. I love the dual controlled doors and the separate monitors for each captains chair. I would recommend this vehicle to any family that is looking for a family van.

Great family vehicle, with plenty of comforts for a family of 5.
We have had our pacifica for about 1 year and it has been great. We have definitely saved in gas by using the battery everyday. We get about 35 miles on the battery and for us it lasts a whole day. When the gas is used, it definitely gets better mileage than our old mini van. I really enjoy the heated seat and steering wheel in the winter. My husband loves the seat cooling in the summer. We have black leather seats so it is nice to be cooled off in the warmer weather. I love the ability to move the middle captains chairs forward and backward easily. The 3rd row seats are easy to fold down and open back up. So much storage available. This van suits our family of 5 with a dog most of the time, very well!

It is the perfect family vehicle.
It drives very smooth. It has a lot of room and is super comfortable. The middle row is two captain’s chairs which my whole family loves. The vehicle is easy to operate as far as the technology goes. I love that it has multiple forms of an entertainment system from blu ray to USB capabilities and multiple charging outlets throughout the vehicle. The remote startup is great, especially for very hot or very cold days. I love that my children can control their own temperatures in the back. There are multiple cameras which helps with safety and ease of use when driving, reversing, parking, etc. I am happy that I get to personalize and program my own seat preferences and it is stored. The heated steering wheel is a great feature for cold days also.

Very comfortable for everyday errands and for long car drives.
My pacifica is very comfortable to drive. Great for long car drives. I feel secure driving it. Has never failed, except for some minor technical problems, like DVD screen and radio screen sometimes go black and the coming back on again after a few minutes.

Built in vacuum with TVs to keep kids satisfied. Comfortable for long rides.
It is extremely easy to deal with multiple kids in the van. Many different configurations for the seats and car seats. It has good storage for hauling a lot of baby stuff. The sliding doors are simple enough for my kids to operate. If something gets stuck in them, they open back up. The automatic windshield wipers are amazing. It has heated and cooling seats which makes it ideal for both hot summers and cold winters.

The perfect family car for all.
Great handling and convenience for families. The sliding doors make life much easier with 2 kids and getting them in car seats. We also love the feature of the driver and passenger seat that moves forward with the click of a button to allow more room for entry into the car or for diaper changes on the go! The amount of space in the pacifica allows for the easiest packing when taking trips, we do not even think about what we're bringing because it all fits, and very easily.

What Do Critics Say About the Chrysler Pacifica?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica is a great competitor to the popular minivans from Honda and Toyota with good owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Pacifica at 3.6/5, praising the upscale interior materials for a minivan, but doesn’t like the clunky transmission.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Pacifica a 4.3/5, enjoying the comfortable spacious cabin, but owners don’t like how expensive the safety technology is.

What Common Problems Does the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Have?

Common problems found on the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica include coolant sensor issues, a check engine light, along with a frozen stereo system. Overall, these problems are similar in severity to other minivans, leading to average repair bills as the Pacifica ages.

Coolant sensor issues are the most widespread complaint from Pacifica owners in the first 10,000 miles. The sensor simply wears out quickly, which can lead to the van going into limp mode since it cannot monitor the temperature. Replacing the sensor is usually done under warranty on newer vans, while it’s around $300 out of warranty.

A check engine light is another issue reported by some Pacifica owners in the first 30,000 miles. The most common reason a check engine light will turn on is if there’s a problem with the gas filler flap getting stuck open. Repairing the issue costs around $50, depending on local labor rates. If you get a check engine light, though, it’s always good to use an OBD-II scan tool to determine the source of the problem.

A frozen stereo system also shows up on some 2020 Pacifica models in the first 5,000 miles. There are some software updates available which improve the reliability. Most dealerships will install the software updates for free, while others charge around $50, depending on local labor rates.

There are two recalls on the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica, which is similar to other vans its age. The most serious recall is for the engine shutting down from an electrical short and Chrysler will update the power inverter module software for free on affected models. The other recall is for the rearview camera, which is also fixed by a software update.

How Long Will the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Last?

A well-maintained 2020 Chrysler Pacifica can last around 200,000 miles, which is about 100,000 miles less than the long-lasting Toyota Sienna. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other vans according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $450 per year.

As a used 2020 Chrysler Pacifica reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the PCV valve for $75, valve cover gasket costing $350, along with the radiator fan assembly which costs around $750.

How Is the Technology?

Entertainment technology is very good with a standard 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Optional upgrades include an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a more powerful stereo system, along with a rear seat entertainment system.

Safety technology is decent for a minivan offering standard features including:

  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Rearview camera
  • Parking sensors
  • Rear cross traffic alert

Optional advanced driver assistance features include:

  • Forward collision warning
  • Surround-view parking camera system
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Automatic parallel and perpendicular park assist
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
  • Forward automatic emergency braking
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Lane departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control

Is the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica a Good Value?

Yes, the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica is a good value since it’s cheaper than some other minivans on the market while still offering a luxurious interior. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $24,350 to $35,250, making it less than a Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna. When new, the price range was $34,045 to $44,795. Depreciation is worse than other vans, losing around 12% of its current value per year.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The first generation of the Chrysler Pacifica was introduced for the 2017 model year.

2017: First model year for the Chrysler Pacifica, which replaces the outgoing Town & Country with new styling, technology, and engines.

2018: New entry-level L model, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, upgraded 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect software.

2019: No major changes.

2020: All-wheel drive available as an optional upgrade, small interior styling changes.

2021: Minor exterior styling changes, more standard driver safety features, wireless Apple CarPlay added.

2022: Amazon Fire TV available for the rear-seat entertainment system.

How Does the Chrysler Pacifica Compare to the Competition?

The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica is a very nice minivan offering a lot of luxury for the money, paired with some of the latest technology compared to some of the competition.

The Toyota Sienna is another minivan which is available for around $4,000 more. Standard safety technology is better in the Toyota Sienna, while the Chrysler Pacifica offers a more luxurious interior for the cost. We recommend the Toyota Sienna since it’s the longest lasting minivan on the market.

The Honda Odyssey is a competitor available for about $2,500 more. Steering is more responsive in the Honda Odyssey, while the Chrysler Pacifica offers a much nicer interior with better seats. We recommend the Honda Odyssey since long-term reliability ratings are better, although both are good vans for the 2020 model year.

This is the best van I have owned!
No problems as of yet. It is a very nice van. It starts very quiet and it also runs very quiet. It handles excellent and is easy to drive. It is one of the smoothest rides I have had in a van. It does not even feel like I am driving. The gas mileage is excellent. I get almost 28 mpg and I drive a good deal every day and that makes a difference.

2020 Chrysler pacifica -- great family vehicle.
This vehicle is very comfortable and user-friendly. There is so much storage, and we frequently stow the seats within seconds. It handles well and is very visually appealing. The only issue I have is that it always says my phone is automatically connected to the Bluetooth, but I still have to navigate the screen and connect it again anyway. Other than that, no issues.

The inside is very roomy, leaving a lot of space for my dogs and puts the car to great use when moving from house to house. The only issue I have come across is that sometimes the tire pressure gauge will signal that the tire pressure is low when it is not. I think this can be replaced, and is a common malfunction in most cars. My husband loves to drive this with my kids, load up the grill, load up the dogs, and take our family down to the river. This car can complete any mission you put its ability to. I am very thankful that my family has been able to afford such a nice vehicle during these times. I would recommend this vehicle to any of my loved ones because of its advanced safety features, for example, the wonderful ratings on the deployment of the air bags.

Perfect car for a family and all the gear that comes with kids.
The 2020 Chrysler pacifica has a fantastic amount of storage even with all three rows of seats up. The stow-and-go storage system is well thought out. I love that the third row can be accessed by tilting the second row, this can be done even when car seats are installed. The safety features give me peace of mind while driving. I have not had any issues with the car and keep finding new things that I love about it. They really thought of everything when designing it.

Most amazing stow away features.
I absolutely enjoy this vehicle. I definitely enjoy the space that this car provides since I have 4 kiddos. It is the perfect height for my toddler and provides the best in comfort. Love the complete stow away features on this car since none of the competitors have this in any of their models. It is very reliable and rides pretty quietly on the freeways.

Pacifica - great van for traveling.
I love my pacifica. It has a very quiet and smooth ride. The harmon kardon 19 speakers make music sound wonderful. I also like the hands free. Option to open doors and the retractable side mirrors. The ability to set the heating and coming of each seat is terrific. Stow and go is great for traveling and the third year is automatic.

Sporty and stylish minivan.
The vehicle is roomy with 7 seats and stow and go seats in the back. It includes Sirius XM, backup cameras, blind spot alert and backup assist which will stop the car for you if you are getting too close to something or it senses another vehicle coming at you from the side while you are backing up.

Warning of other vehicles in our blind spot and the navigation system exemplary.
Creme de la creme. Comfort available spare space, great ride, and sleek looks. The gas mileage is exactly as advertised and the trim work on the interior is exceptional. There is more than sufficient interior room for our dogs and they are more calm than any other vehicle as there is no road noise.

Pacifica-perfect family car.
The pacifica is the perfect family car. Each child has their own “area” which eliminates a lot of fighting. It is very roomy. The ease of opening and closing the doors is nice. There is plenty of storage space in the trunk as well as under the seats.

Plenty of space for family fun - Vango!
No problems. The car is a great purchase. It has plenty of features and space for my family. The storage space is great. I love the dual controlled doors and the separate monitors for each captains chair. I would recommend this vehicle to any family that is looking for a family van.

Best minivan. Comfortable, safe, convenient.
Very comfortable minivan. Drive is very smooth. Excellent on gas. Lots of conveniences like automatic doors and trunk. Would not want another vehicle for my family. I feel very safe with airbags all over the interior. Lots of legroom for my taller kids.

Chrysler pacifica 2020–love our van!
We have had this vehicle for a few weeks now and we absolutely love it. My husband loves it. I love the stow and go for the captain's chairs which makes the backseat easily accessible. We are pack rats as well so when we go somewhere, there is plenty of room in the back for a stroller, cooler, multiple bags, a bike, a kid pool and other odd and ends.
