The stereo technology is very outdated, there are no advanced safety features available and the suspension is firm.

Door locks are a bummer, but the ride is wonderful.
The only issue I have had with this van, is that the sliding door locks seem to wear out incredibly easy. I have had to replace both sliding door lock mechanisms. It drives well and is an incredibly smooth ride when going over bumps and curves. I love the stow and go seating.

Holds 7 comfortable. Fast van.
I love that it is a r/t. Drop down DVD player. I do not like that I have to tune into a radio station to play a movie.

I love my Dodge grand Caravan!
I love my Dodge grand Caravan! Where do I start? Tons of room for kids. Plenty of space for groceries. The stow and go is great to store seats when hauling bigger objects. The r/t engine is nothing like other minivans! This things has the get up and go! Not sluggish at all! The back seats offer plenty of legroom for teenage boys. I love that I was able to save all my music to the hdd. I have no problem getting within reach to strap two littles into car seats. Plenty of plugins for all the tech stuff. The absolute only negative I have to say is it is not great on gas mileage! Highway mpg is ok, but riding around town it is definitely a gas guzzler.

Best car I have ever owned.
Power sliding doors on both sides, power liftgate. What more could you ask for when you are a disabled person. I think dodge is making a mistake doing away with the beat car they make. I bought it with 40,000 miles on it in 2017 and I now have 87,000 miles on it three years later and have had no major problems.

Great benefits of the Dodge Grand Caravan.
It is roomy for my family of six. It is very dependable. It is not equipped with all the navigation and push to open or close buttons. That is really my only complaint about the vehicle but that does not affect the great performance. It really make a great family vehicle plus we use it to move things as well.

Would never go back to a car or SUV!
It is perfect for our family of 5! The folks down seats are a huge plus when we need extra space. We initially purchased this because of the fold down features as we can fit a small mattress in the back for when we hike out of town. We also have a large dog who loves to take up the back seat all to herself! It's easy to move around in when buckling everyone up as well. The detailed navigation system has never failed us either. My kids love that they can watch their movies and we love that they can fast forward as needed with their own remotes.

Interesting detail is that I can open up doors with just a push of a button.
My vehicle drives great! It is so spacious. It's really good on highway miles. I love my van. It's very reliable. I change the oil about every 3 months. I push a button to open the side doors and the trunk which is awesome. The seats are cloth and it has enough cup holders for everyone.

2016 dodge grand caravan- super comfortable, great family vehicle.
It is very spacious. I love that the seats fold down. I was able to fit a couch in the back with the hatch closed! The seats are very comfortable. I am able to easily fit my family of 5 in this van. It drives very smoothly. My only complaint is it does not have very good gas mileage.

It's terrible. Don't buy it.
I like that my whole family can fit in it. However, my 3 boys are all teenagers now and none of them have enough legroom in the very back seat. The van sucks - it has a burning plastic smell and the dealership insists they can't replicate it. I've seen many complaints about this online. It has lousy gas mileage, blows around in the slightest wind, and has poor acceleration (I have to turn off the ac to even get on the highway).

If u can't stand the heat don't buy it cause air conditioning is always broke and heat doesn't work right either.
I like it's roomy...I hate u can't see out of it. It doesn't work for air conditioning...temp in general has issues. It's not comfy worst choice ever.

Minivan mess- not enough space and too much space.
I would like to have a vehicle that is more eco friendly but large enough to haul the family and our toys, ie boat & camper. The DVD system is nice but there’s only 2 sets of headphones for 3 kids. Also the door are no automatic, no push button at the door or in the key fob for the doors or back hatch.
accountCircle Will
The radio and voice recognition system makes this car completely unworkable.
U connect is the absolute worst way i could possibly imagine for trying to do anything related to your phone. Imagine having to go through a phone tree every single time you want to change a setting. Or if you get a call I have to fight with the radio to keep the call on my device so the caller can hear me over road noise. Or when i'm trying to listen to music and it suddenly wants to connect to my phone THAT IT IS ALREADY CONNECTED TO!!! Do not buy anything that has a U connect it is a terrible system.

Be aware!!!
I am the second owner of 2016 dodge caravan. I bought it in 2018 with 39K on it. Now I have 114k and my transmission blew . I know it was arcade for transmission pump in the USA. But not in Canada. The transmission stops working while driving without any signs just stops. The dealership want to change entirely transmission 6000$ just to let you people know .

Remote start runs for about 15 minutes. Two DVD players.
Engine breaks down often, ac doesn't work well. Shakes when it's in idle. Great family vehicle though. Kids like the DVD system. Two DVD players with one in the back row, one in the middle row. Doors are convenient. Remote start is nice on cold days and hot days.

Interesting that recalls occurred for the 2014 and 2015 AC problems. I have had issues three times since purchasing my 2016 Caravan ,actuator blend doors replaced, twice under warranty, now that warranty has expired the third time is now MY responsibility I’m told and the cost is in the range of $750 to $1000 as front passenger as well as rear AC is a problem. I have owned numerous Chrysler vans since 1986 and this will be my last! Extremely disappointing.

Spare tire
After owning this vehicle for 4 years, I just found out it does not come with ANY spare tire! I would have been some pissed if I had a flat on the interstate, went to change the tire and found there was no spare. What are they going to make an option next, door handles?

What Do Critics Say About the Dodge Grand Caravan?

What Common Problems Does the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan Have?

Common problems found on the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan include rust forming on the hood, door alarm issues, as well as cylinder misfires. Overall, these problems are similar to other minivans, with slightly higher repair costs than some competitors.

Rust forming on the hood is a common complaint from Grand Caravan owners at around 55,000 miles. If paint chips on the hood rust forms easily, which will cause the paint to blister. The only way to fix the problem is by repainting the hood, which costs roughly $1,000 depending on local labor rates.

Door alarm issues show up on some Grand Caravan models at roughly 100,000 miles. The door open sensor fails as the van ages, and has to be replaced to fix the problem. Changing out the sensor is a fairly easy project which costs around $300.

Cylinder misfires have also been reported by owners of the 2016 Grand Caravan at around 80,000 miles. There are several reasons misfires may happen. One common source is bad spark plugs, which cost roughly $350 to replace. Some owners report repairing or replacing the cylinder head as a fix, which costs around $2,500.

There are 8 recalls on the 2016 Grand Caravan, which is worse than other minivans from 2016. The most serious recall covers fuel rail tubes which can leak, leading to a fire. Dodge will replace the fuel rail tubes on affected models for free. Other important recalls cover transmission pump failures, cruise control system issues, along with the front brake caliper, which cracks.

How Long Will the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan Last?

A well-maintained 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan should last around 200,000 miles, which is about 100,000 miles less than the top-rated Toyota Sienna. Regular annual maintenance costs are slightly higher than the competition, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $564 per year.

Since many used 2016 Grand Caravan models have over 100,000 miles buyers should be prepared to replace the ABS control module for $750, oil cooler costing $350, as well as the wheel bearings which cost $150.

accountCircle Kimberly C

It is reliable. I have no issues with commuting long distances for work. Gas mileage is exceptional, as well. No problems are noted.

accountCircle Nikita M

As I stated before it had fuel pump issues that were replaced under warranty. I have heard they also have a lot of transmission issues but I haven't seen that in my vehicle yet.

accountCircle Ron H

Extremely; as I stated previously this is our 5th dodge grand caravan and we have never had one breakdown on us and need a tow or repair. We have kept each one an average of 4 years.

accountCircle Dave F

It has been more than reliable. After 100,000 miles it has had no major problems. Besides routine maintenance there has been no issues.

accountCircle Sam P

The car is very reliable since I have purchased the vehicle. There have been mo problems that I have encountered.

accountCircle Alexis H

So far this vehicle has been completely reliable. Nothing but routine maintenance. Look forward to years of use.

accountCircle Courtney N

The time you need to accelerate to merge in the highway makes me think about it because I used to drive a Honda and there weren't any issues like that

accountCircle Sidney D

It has not had any problems yet. I've only had to do regular maintenance. It also gets excellent gas mileage for a van

Entertainment technology is worse than other minivans from 2016, offering a simple stereo system found in entry-level models. A 6.5-inch touchscreen system and Bluetooth are available as optional upgrades. Safety technology is also basic with an optional rear view camera and blind-spot monitoring.

The Dodge Grand Caravan ranks slightly lower than other minivans since it’s outdated. It offers a durable interior paired with decent reliability scores, making it a decent choice for shoppers on a budget.

The Honda Odyssey is another minivan which costs around $3,000 more. Technology is more advanced in the Honda Odyssey, while the seats hold up better over time in the Dodge Grand Caravan. We recommend the Honda Odyssey since they have slightly better reliability ratings with lower ownership costs.

The Chrysler Town & Country is a competitor which is available for about $200 more. Both the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country are built on the same platform, while the Chrysler Town & Country offers a more luxurious interior. We recommend the Chrysler Town & Country since you get more for your money.

2016 Grand Caravan Nice but several safety and expensive repair issues
We have a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan with 70,000 miles on it. I only drive it around town and we occasionally take it to my kids' college. (1 hour away) Last summer the air conditioning went out. (Rear Evaporator needed replacing=$2091.00. Then sliding door stopped operating, even manually. It would have cost around $4,000. However, the govt issued a service bulletin in 2021. Thank Goodness. Now today one week after getting the door fixed, the transmission goes out while driving with my daughter. This is a huge safety issue. They need a recall on the transmission. I will never buy another Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep!

2nd New one; just as bad as the1st new one
Lots of electrical issues with the 1st - 2012. The 2016, serious misfiring issues at 75,000miles. But mechanics can't find the source. Not the plugs, coils, or wires. Wheel bearings replaced. Both bought brand new. Great on gas...the only redeeming quality. Too bad GM killed the Montana. Had 3 of those.

Grand caravan at 65k, good but with non-impairing issues.
After 65000 miles, some problems with the trim in the front of the vehicle, becoming loose, a support arm became loose underneath, numerous mechanical window problems, gas cap error code. Still drives well overall. A/c makes occasional whistling noise.

Great buy dodge caravan 2016.
My review on my dodge caravan se plus. Well let me start off with the power. Granted she is strong fast and dare I say mean. But also capable of huge load. Tested with a pallet of cement 60 lb bags. No problem driving. Mechanically she is a dream. To this day the only mechanical issues or electrical issues would be a drained battery which I now believe is the alternator. Will definitely change that out and provide further review if necessary. Now the van came with a DVD screen that hangs down. It worked for about a week then blank. After reading up on it I discovered it was a common issue. Decided not to fix and use the Samsung tablets. No biggie. All kids sit comfortable and with great views I am told. All the seats fold up and are stored to create a cargo area.

All good things have an issue.
The van has good amount of power and good mpg. The only issue we have is at times the sliding door on the driver's side gets stuck in the locked position. It is an easy fix, just have to push the lock and at the same time push the unlock button. It is just aggravating.

I love the stow and go seats. The power doors and hatch are great too. I have leather interior and that repels dog hair and cheetos. The body rusts out berry quickly and this is a lot to type. The more I have to put into this the less I want to do it. The can has a backup can and that is cool roo.

My vehicle has been having problems with the rear a/c but other than that it is great. I have the backup camera and the touch screen. Entertainment console. I am very pleased with the minivan. I love the versatility of the interior. It is fantastic for taking trips and mini vacations. The gas mileage is very nice and since this is our 5th dodge caravan I find this vehicle very reliable. The features are as good as you will find in a passenger car. The ride is very comfortable. Only one item I do not care for - the windshield frame on the interior hinders your view at times. Nothing you do not get use to but it is still something that does get annoying.

The engine light is throwing a code that is a general code so it is a possibility of 1000 different things. Which makes it very hard with a family of 7. Great vehicle if you have more than 1 car seat you have to use.
I bought my van because I have 4 children, 2 of which are twins and infants so I needed the space for two car seats and other various items that children need. I love the great gas mileage I get, and the ride is a smooth one, and the stow in go is helpful for putting things into and saving space, but other than that, I do not think the van has as much room as I am used to, having come from owning an SUV prior to the van. There just is not as much trunk space, and space inside the vehicle for passengers to be comfortable and space for groceries, or bags etc. Even having the stow in go as options to put things, there still is just not enough room.

Grand caravans stow and go seats have been especially useful.
The vehicle has 150000 miles but has been fairly reliable. The issues that have developed after 90000 miles did include transmission issues and alignment problems. The transmission was still covered under the powertrain warranty but adjustments to the alignment have not solved the problem of unevenly worn tires.

I absolutely love the amount of space in this vehicle! With the stow-and-go, we can fit everything we need for a family of 4 (including our German shepherd). We haven't had any problems with the vehicle yet however we've only had it for a few months. The van's performance so far meets our expectations. All rear seats fold down good mileage.
Over priced fixing to get repaired other than that it has lots of room runs well and is very comfortable we've not any trouble with it.

We love our little mini v!
This car has been so reliable. It makes it so easy to get kids in and out. It is also very helpful for Costco runs and moving. It is roomy and you never feel cramped. I thought it would be hard to adjust to the size but it wasn't bad at all. We love our mini van, we are a minivan family now.

Solid vehicle at a great price-point.
This has been a great vehicle for our family. We had a slight electrical issue with one of our sliding doors, but it was fixed by our dealer. We have a base-model, so it was economical, but also has everything we need. We were looking for a solid, well-made vehicle without all the bells and whistles.

My personal opinion about my Dodge grand caravan.
I really like my van but I do not love it. I am more of an SUV type of person but this car was a gift, so I am using it for the moment. So my opinion is more like personal preference as opposed to what how the vehicle is performing. I have had it almost a year and haven't had any major issues with it.

I love this van and recommend it for any family!
The only problem I have with this van is that the transmission seems to be slipping. Other than that this van is amazing and the best part is it fits my whole family. My family love this car. This van is a smooth ride other than the transmission slipping every once in a while. The cargo area is my favorite part because it is bigger than any other cargo space I have had in a minivan or SUV.

Large minivan that operates smoothly. Buttons work smoothly.
Very spacious if you have anyone with a disability and need more room in order to fit more things into the vehicle. Comfortable seats and amazing a/c. Drives smoothly and have not had any problems since purchasing. The leather seats make it easier to clean up if there are any messes that occur within the vehicle.

Not a fancy car, but perfect for families.
This is perfect for our family of 5! The stowable seating is great for trips, or moving large items. The van is very safe. We have had minimal problems during the 4 years of owning the vehicle. I love the gratuitous cup holders and the storage for my kids' belongings. It is great on gas, for its size.

Triplet mobile... Works great for our triplets now that they’re 5.
Comfort is great. The only problem we ran into was that we have a large family requiring anchors for car seats which the van had too few. Very reliable and have had no issues whatsoever. We could have used a luggage rack but it wasn't offered at the time.

Eco efficient options and handles well.
Love how the seats fold in for more space. Can use it for hauling large items. Dislike how there are no air vents above back seats.

Review of dodge grand caravan.
No problems with it currently. I have had issues with it in the past but currently do not have issues and it performs well for what I need. It is a comfortable van and has plenty of room for the things that I need to do. It is a nice vehicle and I enjoy it a lot.

The bottom where most cars rust isn't rusted at all, and has new window.
Seats a lot of people it's good for road trip and is good on gas mileage. Good for packing a ton of stuff for family vacations the seats fold down if you need more room too. Little to no rust newer looking vehicle, new tires too. New windshield in the back and new wiper also in the back of van.

The stow and go seats are great if you want a flat space to move things.
We bought it used and ever since we have owned it does not seem to shift right. It is an automatic so it is supposed to do it by itself, but it just does not seem to change gears properly.

My wonderful grand caravan.
I really like my grand caravan it runs really well and I have not had many issues with it. The main thing is I wish that the interior was not leather because it gets really hot in summer and really cold in winter. Other than this I really enjoy how reliable it is and comfortable.

Family vehicle, very big and spacious.
There is something wrong with the engine. It is a common problem with this type of vehicle. Already got it fixed and it is messing up again. Everything else is fine. I love how spacious it is. And the back seats can go forward, backward and fold down. Great family vehicle.

There is lots of room if you have kids or a big family then this is a vehicle for you
I love the space that it has. I love that the seats go down to have extra room and that theres a dvd player for the kids.

This is not your mother's minivan.
Ease of access when loading two kids in car seats. Handled well. Looks great. Acceptable fuel economy.

Good vehicle, affordable price.
Dependable and spacious. Lots of room for family, or fold away the seats for tons of cargo space. The American value package does not have lots of features or extras, but it is a reliable vehicle for the price. It offers average fuel economy and handles well on the roads.

Excellent vehicle for the cost, features and reliability.
For the money we love this vehicle! The only issues we have had is one of the automatic doors once locked shut, and prior to that the same door closed on my child's hand. There's supposed to be a safety feature that prevents the door from closing on a hand, so that's now a fear. But outside of that, the DVD player continues to work great, gas mileage isn't phenomenal, but its a van so I guess it's to be expected.

It is a lovely vehicle. Great for traveling.
It is a very nice vehicle, there's lots of room. The ac went out in hours in less than a year of having it. There's lots of moving space and when the seats are up there's compartments underneath the floors where the chairs fold into, it is great for storage when the van is packed with kids.
