It had a factory recall on the ignition which was hard to get fixed. Took over a year because the part was hard to get. It is not a great vehicle in snow.

It's a got car a lot off space
I love my journey RT when I first got it it had some trasmisión issues but I got it fix and it work OK. Right know I have a issue some times when its on parking it doesn't what go in gears (safety lock on gear won't release ) it has a code switch brake. I change the switch brake and it still showing on my OBD2

Convenient front and back wipers that continue to work.
The seats are uncomfortable, a lot of wasted space that could make the back seat more comfortable. There is no convenient are to store things in as they made such small storage areas to get to easily. The glove compartment has a cooler that causes space to be wasted. The back area has such a lightweight cover that you cannot carry anything very heavy or the floor will break.

My car rides very smooth. I barely feel a bump in the road. It still rides like a charm even though it's so old. I love the space that I have in the car. Being a football and track mom I really needed a large trunk to accommodate all of my stuff. I can also take long trips and I don't have to hear any complaining because there is more than enough leg room.

2009 Dodge Journey problems after 100,000 miles
Constant transmission problems, warnings about oil changes after getting an oil change, little to no resale value. Shock and strut problems early. Electrical problems with power windows. Comfortable and roomy interior. Sunroof eventually leaks with hard rain. Good gas mileage.

Lots of work don't buy if it's over 100,000 miles
The third row is not easily accessible. It has needed many repairs in just the 21/2 years I've had it. Yes I bought it used but I've replaced the y fitting for the coolant, axle, strut and strut mounts, control arms, sway bar, etc. The reliability hasn't been there for me so I've been disappointed in that. And now currently the gas gauge don't work

Pros and cons to owning a 2009 Dodge Journey
It is a German/American car so the repairs can be pretty pricey but overall good running car. It has a little speed to it to so that's a plus. But just make sure to keep the rims stock when you buy it. I have a lot of issues because I bought the car second hand with flat tire notifications

Searching for answers
My 09 Journey is in the shop the engine light came on, wipers dimmed while it was raining, so bad I couldn't even see the radio and the dash lights were so dim, it was like I turned them down to the lowest setting and the gas cap light came on and so they changes fuses reset whatever and 2nd time now everything is happening again...I'm being told that they can't find anything wrong and that I must of dimmed the lights and asked if I had my lights on Auto setting YES I do they told me I didn't swear to God I always have my car on auto for the lights and occasionally you put the fob in and try to start the Journey it clicks takes 5-15min to get it to start.... Frustrated I know what settings I have on

My Dodge Journey is a nice SUV. It is very spacious and a lot of storage space. It seats up to 7 people. And has a very nice stereo system with annotation for satellite radio and also a 6 CD changer. The only thing that I have some complaints about the gas mileage and that gets worse every months. I don't believe is good on mileage per gallon

Awesome vehicle all around!
I love the comfort the vehicle provides. It is very roomy for my family. The journey drive smoothly. I really haven't had any huge issues with it. My husband said it is going to need a wiper motor soon because the wipers are starting to slow down. Other than that I have not had to put much money into it. But remember it is a 2009. We are in 2019 so I would say awesome SUV!

Good family car for traveling in the road
I love my journey but it is not without its problems. The battery on this vehicle is in the undercarriage which makes it hard to get to. It doesn't have 3rd row seating there is plenty of cargo space. I love the storage in the floor in the second row and there are built in booster seats which come in hand when I have my grandchildren with me.

Change the cabin air filter annual.
Mine is the r/t AWD. I have had it for little over 2 years now. Problem I have had was the rear door hatch broke. So I was not able to use the back. It cost around 100 for the part to fix it and it is hard to finally get it open to fix it. The a/c gave problems but easy fix. It haves be reliability been from TX to SC and back. I have leather sets. Heated sets and mirrors, sunroof. One thing I do not like is my does not have the third row seat and no dual a/c.

It has lots of fancy features that are appealing at first, but it's not very practical for families.
My vehicle is okay. I thought the idea of 3rd row would be nice, but theres no storage room with the 3rd row up. It also has no rear air, so my kids stay hot and sweaty during the summer. It's not very easy to work on, even for simple things like installing a new battery or changing the oil.

Nothing really remarkable. Sometimes seems to be more trouble than it is worth.
Currently we've had to replace the radiator and now we have to take it back in because we're still losing radiator fluid. None of the seals are tight in the front of the car and every time it rains we get puddle in the passenger seat and water falls down on us from the sunglass holder. The trim covering the rails that the seats move back and forth on are broken and the rails are exposed causing you to cut your legs if you are not careful getting in the car.

This car is great for a single person or a family. There are third row seats so the vehicle seats 7 total. I do not use the third row. Instead, I use it for extra storage. The gas mileage is decent. I love the back up camera but do not like where the screen is located inside the vehicle. The touch screen is nice though.

The neutral safety switch on these cars is notoriously bad, but it's an easy fix. If your journey does not start, try putting it in neutral, it should start right up. Excellent mid-size SUV; not too big but not too small. Gas efficiency is that which can be expected of an SUV. Overall, great car. Definitely would recommend.

2009 dodge journey problems starting
My car has troubles starting. One day it will be fine the next it will leave me stranded. There is a problem with the security sensor and happens in most dodge journeys year 2009 thru 2011. I do not recommend this vehicle. However I like the SUV style. Seating is comfortable, looks nice on the inside as well. The back seat can lay flat so you can fit large objects in the back which is nice. Stereo system works very well and you can put multiple CDs in at one time. Plenty of storage, passenger seat lifts up for storage and there is a trunk and more storage in the back where you set your feet

Great vacation automobile
It's rather loud. Overall very roomy and comfortable with decent leg room. Easy to handle. Check engine light seems to stay on even after having it repaired. Seats are leather so it's hot in summer but have warmers for VW inter time. It has been pretty reliable with minor issues due to wear and tear.

The Dodge Journey Will Take you on Endless Journeys with family!
It seats 7, has SiriusXM radio, the hatchback is perfect for active sport, camping, and vacationing. I've only had one serious issue with the crankshaft sensor and after it was repaired it ran perfectly fine. I have two bucket storage areas, the two side seats are equipped with booster seats which is convenient for my 8 and 10 year old. And I also enjoy that the seats lay completely back for drive ins.

This car is the most basic version of the car you can get.
Brakes went out after normal wear and tear. Luckily I was able to hear the noises and get it into a mechanics shop before they went out while I was driving. I take good care of my car and change the oil when the mileage says too. Earlier this year the chain for the shifter broke and that was more of an ordeal as the mechanic had to come and break the chain in order to shift my car and take it straight to the dealer. Then the part was on backorder, so I went 2 weeks without a car.

Husband is 6', over four hundred lbs. I am less than 5' power seats make it work.
I have replaced the radiator, transmission fluid, fixed the brakes and had general maintenance done and had the air conditioner fixed because the seal broke. Currently the tubing to the windshield wipers is broken because it became brittle due to the heat in our area.

There's a lot of room, especially in the back. Runs good. No issues have come up since I have had it. As long as you keep everything currant, oil change, tires rotated. It should last a while. It's really comfortable to drive on long trips. The floor in the back lifts up so you have extra storage. The seats lay down so you can haul some furniture in the back if needed.

Family auto all branches have bad reputations.
These car was sold by the worse auto dealer so the car has major issues with the cooling system, brake system, and fuel system. It does not pick up speed as it should, and it is currently using a gallon of gas for every 8 miles I drive, I personally think the issue is with the dealer not the car.

I love that the floorboards lift to store extras and the back is very roomy.
I just bought this vehicle today. It is a little loud and rough. I love all the features in this vehicle. I'm not sure of any issues yet. It has 112k miles on it and seems reliable. The idle is a little high but it seems to handle well on the freeway and street. Downfall, there is no cruise control.

This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. Only issues I have had with it have been normal wear and tear. Great vehicle and AWD handles great in snow. Love my journey! The coolers in the floors.
Love my journey. It has had few problems. The one it does have is that I can only have heat on one side of the vehicle due to a switch that is out. But is so labor intensive that my husband won't even consider trying to fix it. I love that it has fold down seats so if I need to get something large in the back I can. I like that way it drives. Easy to handle. I enjoy the fact that it has coolers in the floors. And a beverage cooler in the dashboard area. Plenty of storage options. I don't know what size the motor is, but it has lots of pep. Mine only has front wheel drive. I've noticed that most journeys have all wheel drive. Doesn't bother me any. Handles well on ice and snow.

The car drives smooth. It seems to have a oil leak and the check engine light to turn off. Not positive what the problem is. Besides the transmission I haven't had any serious issues with my truck. It drives like a dream. It is equipped with an infinity sound system, which I love. Great gas mileage, been great for family trips.
I wanted a minivan and husband didn't. This was a good compromise. I really like the cup holders. And has been a great kid chauffeur car.

I enjoy my Dodge Journey as it is a small SUV which has given me great driving pleasure. It is now 9 years old and just starting to act up. What I don't like about it is maintenance issues...need to take off tire to get to battery, electronics behind dashboard.
Never owned a car as long as I have owned this one with over 100,000 miles!

It's very comfortable to ride in for a long trip. Plenty of room for luggage
It's a medium sized SUV that's easy to get in and out of and has a large back area.

It is dependable and saves me on gas. It is easy to drive.
It gets me around, I have had no issues with it and seems dependable. It's just not a ford

Extended warranty has been helpful and I only pay the deductible
Nothing major or issues, just ready for a new vehicle. Have had a few accidents and extended warranty. It has been reliable

09 Dodge Journey, pros and cons.
Nice vehicle, has a smooth drive, lots of interior space, good handling and gas mileage for its class of vehicle. Seems to burn through brakes and bearings though. High maintenance costs at times. All wheel drive is nice, as well as the third row seating.
