GREAT Utility Vehicle
I bought my '05 Dodge Sprinter 158" WB SHC 2500 brand new and in the 15 years of ownership (64,000mi) it has been nearly flawless and can haul almost ANYTHING (and everything) inside it cavernous body. I have never gotten LESS than 25mpg with a 2000 pound internal load, nor more than 27.5mpg with a modest load, and towing a 3500 pound travel trailer average 20.5mpg. The only mechanical failure o date has been an alternator regulator ($75 for the part). The interior cagro length is 13ft long (you can carry 16ft long dimensional lumber by allowing it to extend to between the front seats), and 74" in ceiling height. It's tolerably quiet at highway speeds, but its ride can be a tad choppy empty. The tires were replaced at 60k miles due to age (at 50% tread left), and the original brake pads are about 50% worn at 64k miles. I replaced the front shocks at 60k miles for Bilsteins for a smoother ride but the originals were still like new. The WORST feature of the van is that there is a lot of wind noise when the front windows are opened at highway speeds. Honestly I cannot think of much bad to say about the van, and after 15 years of ownership can imagine no reason to EVER get rid of it.,
