Fiat 500 Sport Review: Worth it?

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

The FIAT 500S is a cute, quirky car that is fun to drive, but can come with a load of problems. I've had my car for about 7 years and have faced several thousands in repair costs. Most recently I was required to replace the brake pads and passenger power window assembly. The parts for the FIAT are not cheap as well. I've also had to have my tires replaced several times. In recent times the tires have been cheaper, but they'll still be expensive in comparison to other vehicle's tires. The Fiat is super comfortable vehicle if you're single and live in a city. It fits well in any small parking spots. It is a master of parking spot vacancy deception and has fooled many in search of parking. It also has great gas mileage which has been a big bonus living in several cities. The Fiat is relatively reliable. I've only broken down twice in the entire 7 years that I've had it. The first instance, I ran over a pothole and burst my tire. This caused got me to get it towed to the nearest dealership and replaced. The Fiat 500 Sport does not have a compartment in the vehicle to hold a spare tire. The second instance was operator error. I left the lights on the vehicle on and it caused my battery to completely die. Other than those issues, everything else has been standard replacements and maintenance. Fiat requires some custom fixtures that most dealerships won't have in stock. Including the LED lights for the rear license view lights. Personally I have not had these replaced so I do not know how much they would cost. Overall the Fiat has been relatively good for the price point.

I have had my fiat for 8 years and still going strong!

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

I love my fiat. It is bigger than it looks. I recently moved to a different state and was able to put the back seats down and pack lots of things. Driving long distance really proved what great fuel mileage it gets. It is able to go a top speed and has good acceleration. You do feel small when your surrounded by semis, and in cases of strong wind and really heavy rain it does feel like it struggles a bit. Really small wheels so if you plan on going off road a lot - not for you. I have a manual transmission. I do think it is an easier manual than other cars. I do not know whether this is because the fiat is so small or something more advanced. . For living in a city, this car is perfect. It is easy to park in tight spots and move around.

Not the smoothest transition when accelerating to higher speeds, but a pretty smooth ride once it gets going. This car is easily maneuverable and perfect for the city and it is tiny parking spots. The sport feature makes the car drive like a larger car, making the wheel more stern and helps with accelerating quickly onto the highway. I like the automatic air/heat controls, but do not love the formatting of the gas gauge as it makes it difficult to view the gradual decline of your gas as is seen in the format of most other cars. Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed this vehicle.

Park anywhere. Even next to the truck taking up 2 spots.

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

The fiat 500 is pretty reliable, it only died on me once when it needed a new battery. The battery should be replaced every 4 years. The windshield wipers are difficult to change, as are the headlight bulbs. It can fit more than you think though, and gets great gas mileage ( about 34 mpg). Tires are also pretty cheap since they're so small. I would recommend getting a roof rack for larger items, it has been a huge help. The interior is also quite nice, though my red seats stained kind of easily.

Fiat 500 Sport is a fun car

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

The look of the car makes me excited the drive it and puts me in a good mood walking out to it in the mornings. I'm not always a fan of the manual transmission, but it has a nice kick to it, especially in sport mode. The electronics sometimes get confused, particularly the volume controls behind the steering wheel. Other than that, the car has plenty of space for someone who doesn't own much stuff and is pretty fun to drive.

- Liam C

It has really great details, sport mode, and it can be driven manually/automatic

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

I love my 500 Sport. It has not had many issues, just replacing bulbs and a sensor. It gets great gas mileage and has a lot of room in the back despite it being a small car. The specific tires for this car are pricey. Repairs to the car have not been expensive. It's a great car for commuting to work. I love my sunroof and the sound and speakers are great. This car is a 4 cylinder but has some good pick up when needed.

Economical, hardly no problems, pretty spacious, great overall.

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

The car is very comfy and spacious for how small it actually is. The trunk space is great and overall the actual vehicle has really never given me any problems. The only problem it was given me was the gear manual but there was a recall for that! Overall, the vehicle is great. I would definitely recommend this vehicle to a college student or someone who's looking for economical gas.

Great first car, easy to get around and cute vehicle!

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

Great first car as a teenager. Does come along with a lot of issues as you have the car though, sucks up oil like no other and continual problems with something on the car. Interior problems like the armrest easily being fallen off because it's only held by glue and the seat wire components broke so chair can't move as easily.

- Celeste G

My fiat 500 is a fun, reliable car that I can take anywhere.

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

It is small but I can surprisingly haul a lot. Gas mileage is awesome. It is fun to drive! It is comfortable to drive. Back seat is too small for adults but would be ok for younger children. It handles curves nicely. It is been very reliable. It is Bluetooth. The car radio has a CD player and Bose speakers.

- Judy R

Amazing and sporty fiat 500.

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

Small but quick handles well. Lots of trunk space considering the car size. The sport model is the one I have, makes all the difference. The suspension is tighter and the steering is tighter. It's good on gas( only takes about 20.00 to completely fill the tank and it gets about 30 city 50 highway.

- Rebecca B

Fun in the fiat. I have a sunroof. I like to open the shade when it rains.

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

Dealer closed a couple of years after I bought my fiat. Getting service became difficult and my oil change coupons we're worthless. Mostly, the fiat has been reliable and fun to drive. It gets great gas mileage. I have had to replace the battery and tires. I have 42,000 miles on it.

- Sandy B

A fun ride, great gas mileage

2012 FIAT 500 Sport

No maintenance problems. Fun to drive. Excellent gas mileage. With the two door model it's no ideal for driving more than two people, but did not buy the vehicle to transport multiple people. If you need a child car seat in back be sure to check car seat model specifications.
