Early model Ford Escape still stands up over new build

2001 Ford Escape XLS

This is the original Ford Escape. I love the slightly smaller, boxier build as compared to the newer models. This car has had minimal problems over the years and is going strong with 135,000 miles on it. It's a great car for outdoor adventuring -- it has high enough clearance to handle rough back roads but is comfortable to ride in on dirt terrain. This vehicle seats four adults comfortably; a fifth could fit if passengers are willing to get a little cozy. The seats easily lie flat for transporting items (adult bicycles, for example) and conveniently, you have the option to lie a single seat or two combined seats. This is ideal for transporting a person and a pet, for example.

Very good car for short distance driving.

2001 Ford Escape XLS

Stills works even after 15 years. Very durable car other than just fixing minor parts which are expected of an old car. Has some engine sounds because it's an old car but very durable. This may be due to its age, but the car cannot accelerate very easily and is not very suitable for a highway drive. It feels pretty risky to drive over 60 mph because of the sounds and noises that are made by the engine and the way the car moves.

My favorite detail is the sound/speakers. To me they sound very good

2001 Ford Escape XLS

My ford escape is a great first vehicle. I never have any problems under the hood. It performs very well but you also have to keep in mind that it is an older vehicle and does not have all the bells and whistles but it is a great overall vehicle. It is very spacious on the interior and the seats can lay down to create even more cargo space .

Ford Escape one fine piece of machinery

2001 Ford Escape XLS

MY escape runs like a tank. It's just one great machine. Not to say it's without its problems. Exhaust leaks. Fuel injectors that must be replaced after 59,000 miles. The seats are comfortable. The disc player stereo is fantastic to this day. Performance is really great. And it is one of the most reliable transportation in a pinch ie snow!

Red 2001 Ford Escape. Third owner.

2001 Ford Escape XLS

I am the third person to own this car. The paint has chipped, the car shakes when I exceed 60 mph on the highway. I have a red 2001 Ford Escape. Although it is a comfortable size, the gas guzzler on this one is serious. I believe my car is only chipping because I live in Florida and it is an old car with old paint.

The Ford Escape SUV is great

2001 Ford Escape XLS

My SUV is on the smaller side, but it is still roomy enough to be able to load it up when need be with kids, as well as loading up the trunk with lots of stuff. It's not too big, and it's not to small either. And to get parts to fix stuff on it is easy to come across and easy on the pocket.

It is good to Escape on that vehicle lol

2001 Ford Escape XLS

Pretty compact, for being an SUV. For the size of the truck, it has good interior space. Passengers have good legroom. Handles and performs well. No big mechanical issues since 1st purchased. Not a good gas saver but still works nicely. I'm sure the newer models are good in gas consumption.

Not worth the money. You'll put more money in it than it's worth

2001 Ford Escape XLS

Bought in 2017, it had problems as soon as we left the lot. Within a year 2 fuel pumps, 4 coil packs, a catalytic converter, ac compressor, and alternator went bad. The car just has more problems than any car I have ever had. Steer away from this vehicle
