2012 XLT Ford Escape SUV Car

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I love my 2012 Ford Escape. I have always drove a truck but changed to the SUV and it was lived up to all my expectations. The Escape has enough room to haul as much as I would in a pick up when traveling out of town. I have a sunroof that is enjoyed in the summertime with my son. It had above 60,000 miles on it when I bought it used but I haven't had a single problem with it and it still feels brand new. With the XLT series I have lights for nighttime that changes colors with one push of a button, I love changing the colors and getting to customize my vehicle. The back seat it comfy and roomy even with a huge car seat in the middle. The only complaint I would have is that the driver side leather seat has a tear in it so it hasn't held up to all the in and out throughout the last 7 years but that is really to be expected. I love the seat warmers especially when it was cold outside and the leather seats were cold, I would push the button and the seat would be heated by the time I got to my front gate. I haven't hooked up the voice control because I feel like it is difficult to hook up but the 2012 Ford Escape also has a hands free mode that can be hooked up to your phone. With the hands free you can talk on the phone or read text messages out loud.

Capable of getting me everywhere I need to go with everything I need to take.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

It runs great and has carried me cross-country at least 7 times in 2.5 years as I move frequently for work. Lots of space inside the car and very reliable in the middle of nowhere. Never let me down. Fuel mileage is decent for an SUV and the AWD is great in most inclement weather and when offroading (ish!). Only issues are minor wear and tear (no more than expected with the age and mileage of the car through) and some rust in the wheel wells. I do currently have lower quality tires, which do not pair well with the traction control in deeper snow, but the traction control has definitely saved me from spinning or sliding many times. Overall a great car for me as I am mechanically useless and not always the most confident of drivers. Its had no major issues and only needed routine maintenance while I have owned it.

- Kay B

A great, reliable car with a lot of space.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I love my car. I have had it for 7 years and have loved it every second. The sunroof lets a lot of light in, and I love the ford sync feature. This is the last year with this particular body style, after this year I think they have a more rounded look. The back seats fold down and give a lot of room to cart things around. I got this particular car because I needed a lot of room in the back to put things and it didn't let me down. I fit so much stuff back there. I have had a few issues with the a/c but I do not think it was the car's fault, it is more the environment I live in. I do a lot of highway driving every day, and this car has been reliable thru and thru. When I am finally ready to move on and buy a new car I will probably look for this same model.

Great family starter vehicle

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Overall, the escape fits my current needs. I'm afraid as my kids get older, that the limited space in the back seat will become an issue. The leather seats are slowly becoming worn down even from just basic daily use. There's a couple spots where the seats have spots off leather completely rubbed off and I can't afford to have them recovered. The Bluetooth connection can be finicky at times. We've had to replace the light gate actuator to open the back door again. One of the doors got caught in the wind and now it clicks loudly every time it opens and the body shop doesn't know if it can be fixed. Those are the only issues I've had with the car. Otherwise, it's great

Ford Escape is a great vehicle

2012 Ford Escape XLT

The 2012 Ford Escape is a great vehicle! I've had a problem with the air conditioning not working since a few months after purchasing it and the problem hasn't been detected yet and I was told that the car will need a whole new ac unit. Also, I bought this car as a family friendly car however, with a car-seat in the back it leaves very little leg room for passengers. If there was a need for 2 of them I wouldn't be able to drive comfortably or safely! Other than that it drives smoothly. I love that you can move the seat up and down as well as forward and back. The very back is perfect for groceries, luggage, or a stroller!

Light blue 2012 Ford Escape

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Very comfortable size for a young person. You can fit two car seats but it is not the most comfortable fit. The car does have car seat anchors for easy access. It is extremely reliable. I haven't had any problems from my car since I have had it. One of my favorite aspects of the car is the heated leather seats in the winter time. I also love the ability to be able to hook my phone up through Bluetooth for the hands free option. One thing I don't like about the hands free option is that the phone call always hooks up immediately but the music part takes a long time to hook up.

Ford Escape XLT: for city people that love the mountains.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

My car is very functional for both the city and the mountains. It fits in the small parking spaces in downtown Seattle, and has the power and clearance to go off-roading in the mountains of Oregon. It great for driving to the ski hill and with a U-Haul attachment I can bring my bikes to any trail. The car itself comfortable seats 4 people, but has the capacity to seat 5. The back seat can collapse to create room for hauling large items. The notifications are user-friendly. I appreciate the AUX option. The outside of the car looks great

My specific 2012 ford escape

2012 Ford Escape XLT

2012 ford escape. Black front grill. Black rims. Black leather heated seats. Moonroof. Sync. Power windows. Keyless entry. Mine does not have the dual climate control and back up camera like some do. I bought the vehicle for the all wheel drive which is helpful in the snow. My vehicle is in very good shape for the year body wise and maintenance wise. My kids love the fact that they can stand in the back! Gas mileage could be better. I'm only averaging 16.8 miles per gallon. Is a flex fuel but I only use unleaded

- Tash N

My Ford Escape is a peppy realizable 4 cylinder SUV

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Good, reliable SUV. General maintenance and upkeep is reasonable. Only had one issue with tire sensor going bad that needed to be replaced. Other replacements have been general vehicle consumables; air filter, battery. The Tires on the vehicle from initial purchase lasted seven years and the initial battery lasted five years. The SYNC system with my cell phone work good, but I have experienced issues with connectivity. This issue is infrequent and is usually resolved by turn off the car and restarting it.

- Amy C

I would call it a pretty neat car. I mean, I enjoy it.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

This car has lasted a long time with a little love here and there, and has finally up to 100,000 miles. Ran into a few problems with the a/c but easy fix. Has been very reliable, versatile use, enjoy interior space of vehicle. Accidentally drove through a lil flash flood but turned out fine. Lots of cup holders and interior storage. Especially enjoy that center console comes out to reveal even more storage. Able to pull trailer behind with hitch. Can carry things on top as well.

- Victoria B

I love my black 2012 Ford Escape!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I really like my Ford Escape. It has plenty of room for my grandkids plus extra room if you lay the seats down to haul items. It's very easy to lay the seats down to make extra room. It's very reliable and gets great gas mileage. I would recommend the Ford Escape for a family car or for a single person that needs room to haul things around. I also like the fact that the rear window opens and can be left open if your hauling something that needs that little bit of extra room.

- Debra R

Good Power with a Comfort Ride

2012 Ford Escape XLT

The Ford's V6 motor has more power than expected with great acceleration. It handles the road very well for an SUV, living in a mountainous area it takes the corners just fine. The fuel mileage could be better I believe I get around 20 mpg. The factory sound system isn't bad. The ride itself is comfortable I do take it on long drives of more than 250 miles and I'm not worn out when I get to my destination. I enjoy the Ford Escape very much.

- Kevin B

Easy to drive and navigate.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

For a family of four it is not big enough. More cargo space and room for car seats would be ideal. Other than that I love it. I have had very few problems with it and plan to drive it much longer. It has over 120 miles on it and has not been to the shop for any major issues. I like that it is not the biggest or smallest vehicle on the road. It drives smoothly and is easy to navigate into parking spaces.

- Lynne I

I highly recommend the 2012 ford escape!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

The reason I love my ford escape is because of the gas mileage, heated leather seats, jukebox CD player, power steering, small compact, power windows and seats. By keeping it maintained and in good condition, the car has been amazing. I have had it since 2012 and thank goodness it has not given me any problems. I highly recommend the ford escape to anyone who wants a reliable, smooth and comfortable SUV!

- Pat W

Comfortable and maneuverable.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Very reliable. Easy to drive and maneuver. Gets good gas mileage. Comfortable seating. Cannot easily haul big loads such as construction materials. Eg: plywood, drywall or boards longer than 6 feet but, it does have a good amount of storage area. The transmission does a nice job of slowing the vehicle down when the accelerator is released without having to overuse the brakes.

- Kenneth K

2012 ford escape the good and bad

2012 Ford Escape XLT

My 2012 ford escape has about 125000 miles on it. Never had a big problem with it at all, besides the AC going out a few times. Runs good, gets good mpg for an SUV, and plenty spacious on the inside. Although I do wish the sync worked for ford. Can't run a vehicle health report or anything like it offers, which is a bit annoying, but not a game breaker.

- Nick D

Ford escape worth owning!!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

First of all it is a nice transportation, it is very good on fuel consumption, and have good handling. Since I purchased it five years ago, so forth I have never had any major problems out of it, the only two problems I had out of it, is that my air conditioning went, and a recall of my power throttle body sensor, but other than that it is a good SUV.

- Nelson S

A great reliable, safe car

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Great car, she's been very reliable. No major issues besides recently having to replace the rear hinges due to wearing out, which the body shop told me is common in these vehicles. I would definitely purchase this car again. It's a safe car for where I live, which has a lot of snow in the winter and some very rough roads. Very comfortable as well.

- Rachel S

Great fuel mileage, comfortable, roomy in a small package!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Great gas mileage, especially highway miles. Has been a very good low maintenance vehicles. Not eat up with power but definitely gets me there. The interior has plenty of room, considering it is a compact SUV. It gets around 25 mpg on the highway, comfortable ride, and handles well. Overall I would recommend a ford escape and consider it a value.

- Tim R

My ford escape was well worth the wait!!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I waited until I found this specific year/model/color/& features that I wanted. I did not settle and, finally, found exactly what I wanted! My vehicle has: Bluetooth capability so that I may answer the phone hands-free; gray leather (heated) seats; and Siriusxm satellite radio. The vehicle color is a beautiful metallic silver... I love it!!

- Sue L

Super cool floor lighting which changes colors

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Great handling, easy suspension, affordable, plenty of room, great air conditioning, and easy to maintain. Problems to occur past 5 years including sensors being tripped, tail lights going out, and auto body damage. I Recommend buying this model pre-used with low mileage. Please check the carfax to check out any possible damage or repairs.

- Apex C

The best little SUV that works for me.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Haven't had much problems with my vehicle, but it drives smoothly, has plenty of space. Bucket seats in front, bench seats in back, and open space in the cargo area. Console in between the seats with cup holders in front and back. Air conditioning, power windows and speed control. Also has CD player and am/FM and satellite radio.

- Angie D

2012 Escape my favorite car I have ever owned

2012 Ford Escape XLT

The only problem I have currently is my sunroof is starting to leak into my car. Previously I had a fan go out when I first got ir but that was covered under warranty. I feel that it gets great gas Mileage, has enough room for my family and I. Great storage space in the back and has plenty of connections for devises.

- Stacey C

White 2012 ford escape XLT.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

The vehicle is fairly small, but works for me driving to and from work and school. The gas mileage is okay, but could definitely be better. Is not bank breaking to fill the tank. There was a plastic piece underneath my car that wasn't very sturdy. Fell off about a year after having the car. Overall it is a decent car.

- Gabby H

Comfortable and roomy ford escape 2012.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

For 4 cylinder it performs nicely. Great gas mileage. For a smaller SUV comfort is good and it has more room than some of the newer models..Good cargo space and back seat is comfortable and roomy. This SUV also sits higher than newer ones making it more accessible for some older folks and some handicapped people.

- Judy P

Comfortable ride with ample cargo space.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

There is an underbody rust problem with this vehicle. It has ample cargo space. The interior of the vehicle is comfortable. The gas mileage is average. Overall reliability is good. I have not had to perform any major repairs with this vehicle. The ride is very comfortable. Power driver seat is very comfortable.

- JJ D

Best car I have ever had, sleek and small, four wheel drive

2012 Ford Escape XLT

One problem was the back wheel well started to rust out after 200k miles and I needed to apply a brace to keep it from caving. Other than that there has not been any detrimental problems with the vehicle. It's the perfect size for someone who likes hitting the trails and also need something for day to day use.

- Jacob L

2012 ford escape is overall a great vehicle.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I am overall happy with my ford escape. I like how it rides. I needed something that sat a little higher up than a sedan for the backroads I go on all the time for work. It is fairly comfortable as well. It has a problem where it occasionally shifts hard but I've not been able to take it in for service yet.

- Keys S

Primary vehicle gets the job done and it is reliable.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

No problems so far. The tire gauge lights come on frequently. Reliable vehicle and has low miles. The Escape has lots of room and allows us to get all errands done while out and lots of storage area for items. The vehicle has better gallons per mile compared to my truck. Overall, it is a good vehicle

- Chad N

I love to Escape in my Escape

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I love my Escape! The features are still current and I've had many compliments that it seemed like a newer vehicle. Can't live without heated seats or a backup camera ever again. Good and roomy with great gas mileage. It doesn't handle like @ big truck. A few minor issues over time but nothing over $300.

- Dakota D

It is a great car. I would get a Ford Escape again

2012 Ford Escape XLT

My car has a sunroof. Heated leather seats. You can even change the lights inside of the car. It has been really reliable car. I've had the car for three years and really haven't had any serious issues with it. I am getting a little bit of rust around the back of the car but that has never bothered me.

- Maureen K

Like new 2012 Ford Escape!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

This car has just enough bells and whistles to satisfy anyone. The Sirius radio feature is great! And, the blind spot mirrors are a must have! The seats are comfortable and the coded keyless entry feature is really useful. The style of this particular year is more pleasing to the eye in my opinion.

- Jamie K

It is now old and used but I love my SUV.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I have had no problems with this car that was bought used. Just do maintenance and everything is great. The original battery died twice, once in -50 below weather and another time when I left the auxiliary stuff on but is still in use. Has electric windows and doors, sunroof. Lots of cargo space.

- Deb C

I would recommend a ford escape I am sure they have corrected the problems.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

The seat belt has always cut me in the neck, very annoying. The back up camera has stopped working correctly and I have had a busted radio speaker on the passenger side twice. Positives are no road noise, seat warmers are awesome, it has been very dependable for me and not too bad on gas mileage.

- stacy R

Classic shape and blue in color.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

This is the first vehicle I've owned that I've liked enough to keep. It has the square backend and I don't like the newer rounded shapes. I've had to have minimal work done, just a transmission issue that was easily found and repaired. My only regret is that I didn't buy the Limited edition.

- Vicky B

We named her black betty!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

This is the first car I have ever owned vs leased and I still love my car. Reliable, low maintenance, comfy. It is everything I need. The only thing I wish it had was a rear backup camera but those weren't an option when I purchased the vehicle. Other than that, I am totally happy with my car.

- Emily W

Ford Escape the gas guzzler vehicle you'll love!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Drives and handles great in snowy weather. Plenty of room, nice interior, rides nice. Cons: maintenance up keep has been hard on the wallet and is not very good on gas, car jack is not the correct size for the vehicle and have told the dealership numerous times with no interest in replacing.

- Amy W

Spacious, smooth, safe, and manageable

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I love my vehicle. I got it when I had my twins for the space. I have had minimal problems with and even with a third child there still enough space for the whole family including the double and single strollers. With regular upkeep its still running great. My only complaint is the gas.

- Amanda T

I'm Loving it! Four wheeling the rolling hills of West Virginia!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I love my Escape! It has all wheel drive. For a four cylinder, it sure has a lot of power! It seats 5 spaciously! It gets great gas mileage. I paid 9800 which I feel is a good price. I have driven my escape on not so forgiving terrain and it was like a tank! I absolutely love it!

- Jennifer R

We like the SUV very much.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

The SUV is a very good size for me and my wife. It has a little problem, it will start losing power and snacks we have to shut it off wait about 1 minute then start it back up and it will run real good for a long time. I took it in and they could not find anything wrong with it.

- James L

It is a perfect vehicle for long trips with its amazing gas mileage.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I love my vehicle. I have vet to have any major problems. The only thing I can think of is my ac will only works on full blast. It is reliable I drove to Illinois and back to my home in Mississippi and not the first problem. It has all the basic features which is plenty for me.

- Mason B

Escape: Vehicular Satisfaction

2012 Ford Escape XLT

What I enjoy about my escape is the comfortable ride and sporty vibe. The interior is acceptable for long rides and has plenty of space for my passengers. I will most likely upgrade the audio system but it is satisfactory. The acceleration is good, in sport mode it's great.

- Ayre A

One thing that we really like about our car is the Bluetooth option.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

This vehicle has been very reliable. We have had no issues with the vehicle. It provides just the right amount of space for our family of three and for all of the things that our family needs when traveling from sport to sport. The seats are comfortable and easy to move.

- Teresa B

Looks nice, rides great, makes driving fun.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

We have had no problems with our escape. Bought the vehicle used with 12000 miles on it and have put on an additional 30000 miles in the past year. Love the ride, performance, load room, comfort and feel it is the best vehicle we have ever owned in fifty years of driving.

- Steve S

Reliable and low maintenance

2012 Ford Escape XLT

My car gets great gas mileage. I have had no major problems, the electrical shorted out at about 90,000 miles but it was an easy fix. The trunk latch stopped working but that was easily fixable as well. I enjoy driving this care for its safety, reliability and ease.

- L R

My 2012 Ford Escape blue sparkle color 4 door sunroof XLT.

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Have had no problems. Car still has 3 original tires. 96,000 miles. Great gas mileage 32 mpg. Love to blue color and sunroof. Only had to do general maintenance. New Battery at 5 years. We haul stuff in it. Easy to drive and park. Also can pull small trailer.

- Tammie H

4 door, gray, sunroof,Ford Escape XLT

2012 Ford Escape XLT

The performance is good, reliable. The main thing I don't like is the amount of fuel it uses especially driving to and from work day after day. I like that it comes with Sirius cam which depending on what time of month you can get it for free for a week or so.

- Brittany B

The safety key feature allows setting different safety restrictions for each key

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I love the special protect and safety features. Such as the volume control and the speed control. The car drives well and I haven't had any problems. The sears are comfortable however the interior is light colored so it is bad for staining or any kind of mess.

- Danny J

Classic style Ford Escape still grabs you!

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Love all the amenities in the XLT package. Has a slight shimmy in the transmission but us still running great. Power seats are a must. Had trouble with ac but now fixed. I would suggest this vehicle to others. Gas mileage could be better but overall not bad.

- Daryl W

Ford Escape 2012 XLT: My Experience

2012 Ford Escape XLT

Transmission loud, jerky, but it is a V6 and has good speed. Braking could be improved to compensate for the engine to avoid accidents. I like that it is a small SUV with a truck-style, and it has good capacity for furniture, bicycles, and traveling storage.

- Ally S

Economical 2012 Ford Escape

2012 Ford Escape XLT

My 2012 Ford Escape XLT 4x4 is stylish, economical, dependable, very easy to drive, comfortable seats, plenty of room to haul items, seats layback, good mileage, enjoy driving, roomy, hatch is easy & nice to use when you go shopping and I love the sunroof.

- Jessie L

Repair costs

2012 Ford Escape XLT

I would not recommend this vehicle, buyer be aware , yes it drives nicely, but getting a "bill" for $ 2,500 to cover an oil leak plus repairing a broken seat belt at 77,000 km. is ridiculous

- Adriaan Ninaber
