2002 Ford Expedition Defects

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

My Ford Expedition was manufactured in a year that the vehicle was recalled. Although the vehicle is large, seats 8, handles very well and in not a big gas guzzler, there are several serious problems. Some have been known to blow out spark plugs (like ours x 3), they can catch fire even while parked in the garage of the owner's home, and then the really serious problem of the gas pedal getting stuck wide open, and the vehicle continuing to accelerate while pushing the brakes. This happened to my husband and I recently. We slammed into a tree. The 2002 Ford expedition would not stop. My subsequent research showed that this had happened to many buyers and there are still many of these vehicles on the roads today. Thank you.

Review of 2002 Ford Expedition

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

There aren't many problems except the air conditioning. The air conditioning doesn't work and hasn't for the past year. I've taken it into the shop multiple times and it just won't work. The expedition is a very reliable truck with works perfectly for an 'around town' truck or even a 'work' truck. The size is perfect for carrying absolutely everything. The sunroof is my favorite feature.

Big and comfortable safe for the family

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

Very spacious on the inside very comfortable ride for all of the passengers in the vehicle, including your furry friends. Safe ride for the little ones and good on gas, convenient cup holders and storage areas, big back section for travelling and packing for long trips, this is a family/utility vehicle you can rely on everyday to get you where you need to go!

This car is crazy, and I can't wait to get a new one

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

Low MPG, loud engine, squeaky wheels. I really do not like this car and let me tell you why. It is very old and I need a new one. I know it will break down soon here. What I do like about my car is that it's very big and has a lot of space to move things or carpool. The interior is in perfect shape and is very clean inside.

A family vehicle to take your fur babies in.

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

It is a nice size for our family right now. It is comfortable for us when we have to go on a trip. We usually take our dogs with us and they have plenty of room in the back to relax. It does use a lot of gas but is cheaper than flying. Most car parts are reasonable enough if you can do the repair yourself.

I love my Ford expedition

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

I have had my 2002 ford expedition for 2 years now and it finally reached 200,000 mile Mark but it still runs and drives great. Everything powered still works and it's great on gas. Very roomy and lots of space. For traveling or even camping. I love my Ford. And all the family memories we shared in it

I truly love the preset seating options and the heated seats

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

I love the heated seats and duo temperature control. The seats lay down with ease which I use a lot to transport equipment. The 3rd row comes in handy for my family of five giving everyone ample room and confident. The hitch allows ability to pull with ease. It is extremely comfortable quiet ride

Love my green machine mom mobile!

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

Very comfortable and spacious. Love the big trunk space as well as a third row if desired. Big and safe for my family. Reliable after 17 years and in good shape. The only thing I would change is the gas mileage but understandably, It is that way due to the size and age of the vehicle.

Strong / reliable / nice to drive.

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

Air suspension and air condition have both been problems so far. Fuel consumption has also been a hassle when gas gets to near $3.00 a gallon. The ride is smooth as ever, I still do not mind going out for a ride on a nice day in the country. The space is also nice for road trips.

Great family vehicle! I love it!

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

I love my expedition! My family fits quite comfortably in it. I have 4 kids. I drive very smooth. My only issue with it is that my back windshield wiper doesn't work. The only work that I have had to put into it has been purely upkeep maintenance, oil changes and brakes.

How I upgraded to something better.

2002 Ford Expedition XLT

My truck is a good vehicle because I put a lot of time into creating a more reliable vehicle. My tires are top of the line and engine as well. I also have a push start button and a key start button and also I can roll the windows down with my remote.
