Dependable & roomy, Ford Explorer.

My Ford Explorer has been really reliable. It is 16 years old with over 150, 000 miles and still going strong. Several of my friends and family own Explorers and we've all shared the same minor problems unfortunately, the power windows have broken on all of them and every back door has vertically cracked below the rear windshield. Other than that the Explorer is roomy and maneuvers well and for it is age it is efficient on gas. I have a v8 engine with 4WD which is great for the horrible road conditions for my region in winter and rainy seasons. I have button controls on the steering for the temperature and radio functions so I can keep my hands on the wheel while adjusting my comfort. The side-mirror defrost is a plus. I use my rear wiper frequently and am happy to have them.

It is reliable transportation and is up to most tasks.

My 2002 Explorer has been very reliable overall. I have not had any mechanical problems that were not expected due to normal wear and tear. There are a few things that I would have liked to have been different about it though. I am a big guy and would like the cabin to be a few inches wider. When I am driving the center console forces my right leg to the left which makes it uncomfortable on me for long drives. This is not an issue when I am in the passenger seat, and this is not an issue for my wife a all. The seats are not the most comfortable but give decent support and comfort. There is plenty of room for 5 plus a lot of cargo space in the back. The 6 cylinder engine has enough power to pull a small boat or other trailer a highway speeds.

Great car perfect for big families and is a great investment.

I love my vehicle do not get me wrong. But these cars seem to have lots of electrical issues when they get older. And they also tend to have transmission issues, and sensor issues. But I can say these are good traveling cars and are very good on gas unlike other SUVs. Even though I have an older model it does not let me down. Even with a pin drop of a hole in my gasoline it does not have an effect on gas mileage. These cars are very durable and the perfect car to have in places where it snows and very dry areas/mountainous areas. My car is very spacious and can fit up to eight people comfortably with seats belts on. This car has 3 rows seating. And is perfect for a big family.

2002 Ford Explorer XLT 4-wheel drive. Very spacious, smooth ride, good on gas, tinted windows on back of vehicle, third row seating complete with cup holders, Seat belts and a/c vent. Great for traveling or exploring off road. All terrain tires gives an extra lift to vehicle.

The 4 wheel drive is awesome and works very well. I had to replace the transmission because it was over 200,000 miles and the gears were slipping. A Lot of room in the XLT. I went camping in it several times and a full size air mattress fits in the back. Smooth ride. Good on gas. Most of the original parts are still on the truck. Also had to replace water pump and timing cover. I have my oil changed faithfully every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.I placed bigger tires on my truck and it still rides good. Third row seating is a plus. Not many Explorers have 3rd row seating. We sit in the back, harvey the tailgate up and watch different races. I really love my truck

Ford Explorer is a reliable vehicle.

My vehicle has some issues with the overhead light flickering on and off while it is on. This is not really a problem, it stays off when the car is off. It is really more of an annoyance. The gas mileage is probably fine for a car of its age, it is the only car I have had. It runs well. During the winters, I will have problems starting my car because it gets too cold. Also, the window mechanism will freeze in the winter and the locking mechanism on the doors will also freeze. The air conditioning system works, however, when it is on 1 or 2, the air cannot really be felt, 3 is a big jump. But it heats and cools well.

A vehicle you can always depend on

Overall, my car has been nothing but reliable. I've had it for many years and have only had to really do routine maintenance. I would say my car has served as a great asset for a woman that purchased this as a used vehicle when I bought it. It's comfortable, perfect height, has tons of space in the back as well as the front and back area. The only negative thing I can say is that it's old and not up to date as cars today but at the end of the day, it gets me and my family where we need to go... including out of state with absolutely no problems. My next forever car will also be a Ford... Truck that is!

Great for growing families.

My Ford Explorer is great. My husband and I bought it when I was pregnant for my third child. We now have four children and we still have room for everyone. It has the third row but the leg room back there is limited, so we will need something bigger as the kids grow. It still runs like a watch. There has been just normal wear and tear. It is starting to rust but that will happen in this area because we get snow and they salt the roads in the winter. We bought this vehicle in 2012, so it was already 10 years old, and we have had it for 6 years. Works great for our big family.

The good, bad, and ugly - but why I wouldn't trade my '02 Explorer for a new one.

I love it because it's not the new body type which looks like a station wagon. I love it because it sits up high and still had the chassis of the F150. What I don't like about it was that these models had transmission issues that Ford was aware of but didn't take responsibility for and also had real wheel issues that they didn't take responsibility for because it would have been too much $ for them. However, my truck has over 270K miles on (3 trans later) and is going strong. I'll keep her going as long as I can because I don't want a new one (because of the body types).

2002 explorer review better than average used SUV.

The car for the year was in great shape, above average. But as with used car things pop up. The heater switch went and you need to take the center console out and part of the dash to get to it. Then the passenger window cable broke so need to replace that. Now the shocks are going. Reaching the 100,000 mile mark you have to think about the big tune up. Most car need all filters, plugs, wires, coil packs, and all the fluids change, along with most oxygen sensors and there may be more with other vehicles. Over all it runs good and looks good no rust for a 2002 truck.

All of the back seats fold down for easy transport of large items.

My vehicle has only had transmission problems. We had the transmission replace and it runs perfectly and has lasted for years! It has heated leather seats, moonroof, electric locks and windows and alarm. This vehicle has a third row so we can haul a lot of kids! I love our Explorer. The automatic 4x4 has got us out of some muddy situations. I spun out in snow with my two children and hit an embankment. The Explorer held together great! If it wasn't for this SUV we would have been seriously injured. We love our Ford Explorer!!

4 wheel drive with extreme comfort.

I love my 2002 Explorer. It has 4 wheel drive and plenty of cargo space. When I take it on long trips it gets excellent gas mileage. This vehicle. (knock on wood) has never needed anything but regular maintenance, no major rebuilds or problems. The rear seats let down for sleeping or larger cargo. It truly drives like a nice car but can handle the roughest of terrains with it is 4 wheel drive. The seats are very roomy and comfortable. The air conditioning system works extremely well to cool the entire vehicle.

- Cheryl R

It has 245,000 miles on it and you have to be gentle with it. Treat it like an elderly person.

The most important thing I love about my vehicle is the fact that it is American made. It is relatively cheap and simple to fix. The thing I dislike the most is having to actually replace the engine components regularly due to the fact that they are plastic. I have high mileage, approximately 245,00 miles and it still runs well, so long as all of the plastic parts stay in tact. The only complaint I have is the plastic engine parts. I mean really, who the hell thought that was a good idea? Just sayin

I grew up a Chevy girl. But this Ford Explorer is awesome!!

This vehicle is very reliable. We do have problems with the back windows staying up. It performs well on highways and around town. It is very comfortable fitting all of my family plus animals. Have taken this vehicle on many different terrains from town to the lake. My daughter learned to drive on this vehicle. My husband was able to change the brakes on his own. Can do most maintenance except electrical problems. We as a family have enjoyed all of the space that this vehicle has afforded us.

My ford explorer is awesome

Problems, it doesn't have but a few. The anti lock brake light is on, the check engine light just came on. The traction control light is on, and I can't get it to go off. Performance it performs great it has the 4.0 liter engine it gets decent gas mileage. It has been very reliable I travel from Indiana to Tennessee once a month plus daily mileage is over 4k a month with no problems. It is very comfortable to ride electric seats a/c great sound playing my gospel music everywhere I go.

2002 Ford Explorer issues that should have been recalled.

My explorer has around 150k miles on it. I have experienced some issues with the transmission not shifting correctly. I did some research and found that this year has a lot of problems. Mainly because it was the first year of a new body style and drivetrain. I commute to work, around 60 miles a day, and it does ok on the highway but in stop and go traffic you can tell there is a shifting issue. Gas mileage is awful also. Only around 12 city and 16 highway, but I have to get to work.

- Keith F

Didn't have a way to check transmission fluid. Had to take it to a shop to get it pumped in through the bottom of tranny.

Had a lot of problems with it. Bought it used about 8 yrs ago. The motor had been replaced and was still under warranty at that time. Have replaced the transmission. Torc converter broke 6 months later. The front end it messed up, needs bushings and bearings. The battery has been replace multiple times and had several tune ups. The back hatch quit working a couple years ago. There's a wiring issue which causes the interior lights to either not come on or not go off

- Wendy S

Roll cage, extends the length of my truck.

I love my Ford Explorer Sport Trac crew cab pickup, it gets good gas mileage and really handles well. My Sport Trac came with the 6 foot bed and has a locking cover. I can also haul a lot of things in the back of my pickup when needed. The crew cab gives me enough seating that 5 people can sit comfortably without feeling cramped and claustrophobic. I am really glad that I was able to buy my Sport Trac when I needed a car that was versatile and economic to drive.

02 ford explorer XLT good gas mileage, am/FM, automatic, low maintenance.

This 2002 ford explorer XLT is a 5 speed automatic transmission, with a towing capacity of 7,000 to 7,300 lbs. Excellent working heating and air conditioning, am and FM stereo with 6 changer CD player. Cruise control, roomy interior, seats up to 7 comfortably, and surprisingly gets 16 city miles and 21 Hwy miles per gallon. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone with dreams of traveling with ease of mind, because it is a dependable vehicle made in the USA.

- Katherine M

Keep motorcraft oil and filter in it. Do not use the other stuff.

I had my truck for 14 years. Haven't had no real big problems out of it just minor issues in the last couple of years since it hit the 100 thousand mark. It is been great raised a child since we've had it hailed lots of loads of pig feed on it and it just keeps right on ticking no matter how much weight I put on it they do not make them anymore and it would be a good starter truck for any 16 year old so I hope I can keep it going another 6 years.

2002 Ford Explorer: comfy, reliable, and good on gas.

I bought my car from the previous owner so it already had some wear and tear but it still works very well despite that. It currently has over 175, 000 miles and it still runs fine. The seats are a good material, extremely comfortable. The bed of the truck is the perfect size for transporting large objects, such as couches or larger chairs. It is not bad on gas $20 gets me about a quarter of a tank maybe a little more depending on gas prices.

- Shannon M

The full double door and back seat is a very convenient feature.

Constant water leak thru the motor water intake. Door handles very weak and break often because they are made of plastic. Other features are excellent. Very smooth ride with plenty of inner elbow room. Love the rear air conditioner feature. Have never had any problems with the climate control. The cruise control buttons are also a problem. They are made of rubber and dissolve with the heat. The dashboard style is very attractive.

'02 Explorer XLT for Life

This is my second Explorer XLT. I love the way it drives. It doesn't feel like a big truck which is nice for me. The interior space is incredible. My only complaint about this particular one is that the door sensors are faulty after some time. The Explorer itself is notorious for the fuel pump to go out as it ages, but if taken care of early it's an easy and much cheaper fix. I'll likely keep it until it's run into the ground.

- Alison M

2002 Ford Explorer truck review.

Good for space. There is three rows and the back row of seats can let down. I love the fact the seats are heated in the front and there are separation between the run and rear part of the car. It does not do well on gas and sometimes the gas meter is off but I love how it tells you when you are low and how many miles until empty. So far I have not had any issues knock on wood besides basic car maintenance such as oil changes.

2002 Explorer Family Vehicle

We love our Explorer. Plenty of room for our whole family. Only problems we've had are expected problems from an older vehicle. Replaced tires, changed the brakes, routinely oil changes. While changing the brakes we noticed the wheel bearing were very worn so we changed all 4 before it became a major problem. It's been good on gas & over all a very reliable vehicle. I would recommend this as a good family vehicle.

- Christina G

2002 Ford Explorer would be fantastic if the transmission was different.

This is a fun car to drive. Its old but still kicking. The seats fold down so you can have a bigger trunk, and the seats are pretty comfortable also. The only problems I have had are there's a strange clicking in the engine and I need more transmission fluid but I didn't really know it until I was stuck along side of the road. There's no dipstick and it needs a pump (or you can use a spray bottle) to get fluid in.

Fire car that everyone should have

This car that own called the ford explorer which I believe came out in 2002 even though it's been a long time since it came out I still use it everyday and it basically serves it purposes it takes me everywhere. It consists nice leather seats the only problem about the seats is that they get hot and they will kind of burn your legs if you're wearing shorts. It also has a big trunk where you can put a lot of stuff.

- Nicolas A

Reliable, spacious, and great for travel.

I love my ford explorer because of all the interior space. All the seats in the back two rows lay perfectly flat which makes for plenty of hauling space. Features such as cruise control are also a huge plus as I tend to travel quite often. The interior is nice and the leather seats are very comfortable. I also enjoy the fact that the ac and heater both work incredibly well, especially for an older vehicle.

- Savannah R

The air conditioning is amazing and the interior is comfy and an easy clean.

The interior is very comfortable and spacious, and easy to clean. It doesn't trap odor easily and the air conditioning works great. It gets decent gas mileage for its size, but be mindful when you buy one that some are NOT four wheel drive, and you could end up with a rear two wheel. I have no complaints, honestly. The step on the side even makes for easy access to the high sitting carriage.

- Serena E

Lots of space and comfortable, expensive issues arise after 100,000 miles

Overall it's been a great car, as it get older, there's more and more problems that arise. I don't quite have 120,000 miles, yet I've already had to replace the fuel injector and the transmutation. I've had other minor issues with it recently, but up until 100,000 miles it was great. Lots of space for people and storage/travel. I've even slept in the back several times while camping

- Courtney F

Ford Explorer good for going to beaches and mudding.

Ford Explorer it does not have no problems 4. 9 liter motor in it. It is a four-door fits 5 people is very comfortable it is good for pulling boats and trailers and they're good to go mudding in they're actually pretty luxurious I have never had no problems with mine they're very easy to work on and fix and if I had to refer anybody to get a vehicle it would be in a Ford Explorer.

- David P

Great vehicle for long road trips and snowy roads.

I have owned my Ford Explorer for 10 years and I have only had to replace the battery and tires and do regular maintenance such as oil changes, brakes etc. I am very happy with it and would definitely recommend and purchase another one. It is been very reliable, it is comfortable and great on gas. I have used it for long trips on all kinds of weather and it is never let me down.

- Ellie L

Ford Explorer is the way to go.

I really enjoy my Explorer. It is really roomy, comfortable and tows nice. I would strongly suggest this vehicle. At some point I plan on getting another one maybe in a white. Gas mileage is pretty god’s. I like the 4 wheel drive especially in the Minnesota winters. Brakes are good as well, they respond quickly. There are air bags around the vehicle and I feel safe driving it.

- Tracy L

Versatility! Drives like a car works like a pick up. Really reliable.

I purchased my Ford Explorer in two thousand two brand new. It has been the best vehicle I have owned as of today. The Ford Explorer is a very Versatile vehicle ready for rough terrain or the city. I have put about one hundred ninety thousand miles on it so far, maintenance has been very easy. I just put a fuel pump on it after all those miles. It still runs great.

- Garry M

Still going strong after 16 years & 223000 miles

durable, still going strong after 223,000 miles on it. everything is great except for the rear end in these have issues, changing rear wheel bearings every 1 to 2 years, lots of road noise from the back end too. despite these, it's still a great long lasting vehicle with relatively inexpensive maintenance/repairs if you are handy & diy repairs as much as possible

- kmc c

The best automobile ever owned is the 2002 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition.

My 2002 Ford Explorer is a large SUV that drives and maneuvers like a smaller car. It is big enough to do everything I need, work related and non work related. It is durable, tough, unstoppable in any weather or road condition and has had few problems aside from things getting old and needing replaced. It is solid, powerful yet sporty, functional and dependable.

- Diana M

Seats adjust to accommodate the comfort of any driver.

My Ford Explorer is very roomy and comfortable. The seats are adjustable for many positions of comfort. The cargo area is great for hauling large items. It is very easy to handle on the road. Great for driving in snow and inclement weather. My Explorer goes from two to four wheel drive very easily and smoothly. My entire family enjoys driving the Explorer.

- Debra S

I love the 3rd row seating. I love the power of the v8 motor.

Other than the fact that it costs more than $50 to fill up the tank when I am at 1/4 tank or less; I have no complaints for this vehicle. There is no way to check the transmission fluid yourself; it has to be done by a professional mechanic. I do not like the fact that the mileage, low fuel, door ajar and oil change alerts all share the same window.

- Julie B

Third row seating, 4 wheel drive, and decent gas mileage

The explorer runs great, I've had it about a year and the engine was replaced right before I bought it. Haven't had any issues! 4 wheel drive works great in the winter and for hunting! The third row is amazing for family to travel with us and the seats are comfortable for long road trips. Gas mileage is what's expected of a slightly larger vehicle

- Andrew D

My car is comfortable. Perfect for weekend trips. With big space to share.

I really love my car. It is comfortable. It is great for long travels. But if I have to say something negative about it is that it spend a lot of gas. I do not recommend it for the traffic city. I spend 50 dollar every week on gas. Another negative thing is that sometimes it takes a bit to turn on. Which is not convenient if you have an emergency.

Great car for a growing family not worrying about the fries under the seat.lol

My car is great and is lasting longer than I thought. It's rugged enough to go into the woods and take hunting. It's a good size family car. Get a little tight if it's not a third row. The outer aesthetics need some fixes the recurring problem with my make and model is points on the plastic parts crack everywhere. But other than that is great car

- Sarah J

Love Explorer! Great family car!!

No problems with this car, runs great, heat & air work and good gas mileage. I do not like the stereo system in it but it is something I could look past. Very comfortable car, I make long trips and it is great for that. Previous owner was a smoker so it has an underlying smell of cigarette smoke but not a huge deal, managed to get most of it out.

- Isabella H

4WD will go anywhere and if you are going 60 rides like you are going 40.

The car is very comfortable has 4WD and will go anywhere I have back issues and with the side steps and height it is very easy to get in and out of the back windows have trouble rolling down not sure if they need a motor and there is a safety feature but if you lock doors and car is not in gear they will not lock so you won't forget your keys.

- Amanda B

It is very reliable and sporty.

This car is rugged but has a smooth ride. I feel confident that my Explorer can get me in and out of remote areas. The adjustable driver seat and side mirrors are handy and the driver seat heater is heavenly on a cold day. This car has never broken down and even took a direct hit from lightning on one occasion but the engine still turned on!

- Jan G

Reliable and comfortable.

This vehicle is very reliable with very little performance issues. It has heated seats and air conditioning in the front and the back of the vehicle, which is nice in the blistering heat. The wheels are reliable and good on ice and snow. My only issue with this vehicle is the way it was though gas and its negative effects on the environment.

- Heather Q

This vehicle is an SUV so it is a gas guzzler. But it is very reliable.

I have had my vehicle for a very long time. It is reaching the point where things are falling apart. The bearings need to be replaced. I have gotten my tires changed twice in the past 4 years. Also there is a problem with the control arm. This car is very reliable like I said I have had for a long time. I think it has just reached its time.

- Julian H

That it starts up and gets me from point A to point B that is all I can ask for.

Most of the things don't work. I installed a new radio because of the last one wasn't up to date, as in no AUX or Bluetooth to connect your phone for music. The heater doesn't work, the tires feel funny, the thing under the truck hangs and sometimes driving on the highway or just the regular streets and I can hear it scrape the street.

- Tiffany M

My Explorer keeps me on the road.

My Ford Explorer has been a really reliable vehicle for the last several years. It runs great and other than some electrical problems, replacing fuel pump ball joints, and brake pads I have definitely gotten my money out of what I paid. And even though it has 214, 000 miles on it. . . I see myself owning it for another few years.

- Gina B

My 2002 Ford Explorer has many stories to tell.

The one thing I love about my vehicle is that it has been threw a lot but it is a trooper. My Ford has not let me down yet. I believe the alternator is going out but it is reaching those mile points so it is not a surprise to me. I bought the vehicle used 5 years ago and it was with since births of my 2 baby boys now 5 years old.

- Alexis R

Nice reliable vehicle good for medium sized families.

Very nice family car that is quite comfortable and good for long drives when going on vacation, it is an older vehicle so nearly all the interior is outdated. Reliability wise it is not too bad either seeing as it is been on the road for sixteen years already. All in all it is a very nice vehicle to own. Also a nice starter car.

- Daniel C

As a family of 4 we need a little more space and my vehicle has worked out great.

It's just getting older. Brakes constantly need to be changed. My truck is horrible on gas and has gotten worse. When you have another vehicle slowly everything seems to break back to back. I had to replace the starter recently and just redid the brakes and now they already need to be done again and I need all new ball joints.

- Danielle S

2002 Ford Explorer v8 limited.

I love it for the most part. My only complaint is the not so great gas mileage, but being a v8 with great towing ability it doesn't bother me too much. It rides smooth, handles well, makes it through snow and ice just fine, and the interior is plush and comfy. I feel safe driving my kids around it in. Definitely built to last.

- Rachel T

My truck gets good gas mileage.

It is a great truck it is good on gas. I have been a lot of laces in it drives really good. Wish I could never stop driving it. I love my truck for it is room and style. Only had one problem out of it fuel pump but that was a easy fix. Been to beach Florida and all over Alabama. I still have it and it is reliable as of today.

- Robert C

Sunroof is nice and having space for move 8 people and still have a lot of room.

Great vehicle, gray with Bluetooth stereo, new battery, new alternator, new starter, 3rd row seating and sunroof, good on gas but have some minor rust in door frame not noticeable until you open the doors, great in the winter and needs air conditioned looked at, nice truck space and seats go down for more space to move items.

- Andre W

Ford Explorers are great family SUVs.

The 2002 Ford Explorer has been a great vehicle for us. We have only had a few problems since purchasing as a second owner in 2003. The usual brakes, wipers and starter problems have existed but were easily taken care of. Maintenance is minimal if kept on top of. Performs very well on and off-road. I would purchase another.

- Marie T

Army green in color can seat up to 8 people.

Not any problems except for the dents or the scratches or the rust underneath. But other than that it runs great! There is an extra seat in the back of the vehicle. It rides smooth! Just paid $2000. 00 For it. Army green in color! Now it has a crack in the windshield from a rock flown from another truck rig on the highway!

- Martha E

Rides nice and great gas mileage.

I like the way it rides & handles. The 4wd feature is top-notch and has never failed me. I really like the fact that all of the seats in the cargo area are removable, allowing for lots of extra room for larger items; or with all seats inside it seats 7 passengers. The only thing I would change about it is the gas mileage.

- Heather J

The best running vehicle of all others, my ford explorer.

My ford explorer is a 4 wheel drive, sport XLT. It is a two door, and everything is automatic. The engine is a 6 cylinder, automatic. The performers and reliability are awesome! I feel safe in my car and trust it to even go out of town. It runs great and, is comfortable to ride in and even steers and handles very nicely!

- Angela P

My 2002 ford..Love it wouldn't have it any other way.

It's a reliable car... You have to just make sure you do proper upkeep. Just keep in mind the fuel pump will go out. And it's located in the fuel tank... It drives nice. Both seats in back fold down. It provides. A lot of room to carry cargo. Love the 6 CD changer. Great sound..Get about 16 miles per gallon city.22 Hwy.

- Gerald B

It is a great overall car for an old car.

It is an okay car but it has needed a lot of repairs throughout the years. Besides the repairs- the performance is good - could use a little more of a pick up when you want to pick up speed more quickly. The comfortability of the truck is mediocre as it is not uncomfortable but it is manageable when you are used to it.

- Leo G

Everyone should know to not buy this car. I have owned multiple Ford Explorers and within a year they all break down for the exact same reason.

So the car and total is usually not working. Sometimes the windows don't work, the doors won't open. Almost every single person that I've met that had a Ford Explorer always has the exact same issues as we do as in the door stop working, the door handles will break off, or if the fuel injector will go out unexpectedly.

- Michael M

It is a great car for a small family. It seats 4 and is a two door.

The shocks are really bad on my car, even though they have been replaced multiple times. It has lasted I think 17 years so far (HOPEFULLY LONGER) and about 150,000 miles so far. There is a acceleration problem with the car also. Besides these things, it is a really good car and I would buy a ford again in the future.

- Samantha S

Very good looking and reliable car.

Has been my daily for awhile bought it used and has only had two owners including me. Very reliable, spacious and is also a very good looking car. Only problem I have had with it was the transmission but that was an issue the previous owner sold me with and it was a bit pricey to fix but other than that great car!

- Sandra I

Ford Explorer seven seater

I love it drives great, the rust is a little bad but it goes good. It is comfortable to drives fits my family of 7 and 2 dogs great! It is not horrible on gas I do however fill the tank up once a week. Mechanically it does not have many problems though we do keep up with oil maintenance and brakes and rotors .

- Kayla E

Very spacious, leather seats, and great in pulling heavy boats or trailers.

It's fairly big, we can fit the feed we buy at the livestock store, it's very good with pulling a boat, or pretty much anything, it has 8 wheel drive, leather seats. It does take a lot of gas if you don't do yearly tune ups, but besides that it's a very good truck, couldn't ask for a better one, it's amazing.

2002 Ford Explorer XLT Review

My Ford Explorer is a 4 wheel drive, which I need. The engine not too big so it gets decent mileage. It is also very comfortable on long trips. The Ford Explorer is easy to maintain. It also has power ports in rear of vehicle which is handy. I only drive Fords and the Explorer is one of my all time favorites.

- Michael B

Ford Explorers are not that great of vehicles.

This Ford Explorer is a 6 cylinder vehicle. My particular vehicles gets about 15 mpg. I did have to place a new motor in the vehicle because the other one did randomly blow up while driving. The vehicle only had 108k miles on it at the time. I also checked fluids as well, so I am not sure why the engine blew.

- Nicolas W

Life with a Ford Explorer

The vehicle is a good car. It's reliable and never broke on me. I take care of my vehicle on my own. This is the second time I own a Ford Explorer. The first time the timing chain went and it require over $2000 in repairs. I was not happy and was told you had to remove the whole engine to replace the chains.

- Jose O

The car drives great and very reliable in bad weather. Great family car.

I obtained the vehicle used and it had been wrecked so most problems are from that. My only other issue is its only a 2 door and I have children. It goes great in the snow which is good being from WV. It is comfortable to ride in even on the back seat. It's also nice to have the seats lay down to haul stuff.

- Amy F

Heated seats Ford Explorer.

Not good on gas, but like this feature of heated seats and three rows. Like that it sits up high. Performance issues are low haven't had many issues aside from normal oil change and such. I like the idea of leather seats, easily cleaned but can be super cold and take long to warm up during the winter months.

- Brittany S

My explorer. The great tan machine.

It is been very reliable. I have only had to do a tune up on it. It is got great pick up speed and has enough room for everything I have needed to. It is been a very reliable, trustworthy vehicle this far. Our even gets pretty decent gas mileage despite that it is got a bigger engine then my last vehicle.

- Jamie S

Easy to use and safe vehicle. Definitely a vehicle for a family.

Comfortable ride and enough room for the family. Car seats fit perfectly. Touch controls everywhere! Great safety features for drive and airbag seatbelts for children. Easy button controls for storing seats. 3 different button ways to open the tailgate. Captain seats make it easy to access the third row.

- Chelsea W

Great for big families and tall kids.

It's amazing the 3rd row is great for a big family like mine all my kids are 6ft tall and they have plenty of room..I am a music lover and the radio is jammin. We love playing in the mud so having 4 will drive makes it even better..I haven't had any issues as all with my SUV and I am buying another one.

- Tiffany V

Love and care for your car.

Nice car, but it's having problems all the time. Had to install new window system because the original wouldn't allow the windows to roll down. Other than that, I change the oil every three months because I drive a lot for work. It is a trustworthy car if you are willing to do what it takes to love it.

- John S

Ford Explorer review for the ages.

I ignore the heck out of it and it keeps on going. All I have had to do to it is get the oil changed. When winter comes I might have to get the tires changed but that is New England for ya. This is the first car I have ever owned so it is a beater. Hopefully it will get me through the next year or two.

- Caleb B

Reliable truck but you must make sure you stay on top of the maintenance.

My vehicle issue that I have dealt with is that the heater went out of nowhere and this was a issue what Ford trucks mainly have. Also the window’s also just stopped working out of nowhere as well. The truck runs great but I did notice the make and model of the vehicle this happens to in most cases.

- Ashley V

My vehicle is tan on the inside and out, and is cloth not leather.

Electrical issues. When it rains it will shut off at random. The air just recently stopped blowing out of the main air vents. It is very comfortable and perfect for a first car, but it is not a gas saver whatsoever. It has a good engine, but I have had to replace the battery twice in the last 2 years.

- Ashley R

It was a gift after I totalled my beautiful Mazda 3 in 2014.

I am thankful for my vehicle but it has given me nothing but headaches ever since it was gifted to me in 2015. It has a recurring mechanical issue that has not been figured out. The electrical is going bad so the windows do not roll down. It does get me from here to there when it's actually running.

- Brooke T

Comfortable and very practical.

Drives safe and smooth. Good for any road conditions and carries a lot of materials. Family vehicle or personal vehicle, works either way. Had for a long time and stills runs great it is an excellent machine to have on the roads and perfectly safe for all collisions. Handles well and looks stylish.

- Troy H

Fantastic vehicle, would drive forever if I could!

For the most part, I love my car. I wish I'd gotten the 4 door, but that is my own fault. It is reliable and works well, and my only complaint is gas mileage, but it is an '02 and on par with its size for the year. It runs well, feels great, and I feel safe in it, which is the most important part.

- Kimberly P

I really like the 3rd row seating. It's great to fit more kids and people in.

It's a good vehicle. Mine has cloth seats, sunroof, the third row, great for going shopping, lots of space, it has power windows, reliable, great for a family. No problems that I know of. Mine has over 280,000 miles on it and still going. I keep up on my oil changes and that helps keep it going.

- Heather T

Only car you'll ever need

Car has lasted me forever and is very reliable. Only a few problems, windshield wipers, but most of them were user error. Always been very comfortable and easy to adjust so every driver feels secure. Also the seating and trunk space is very convenient and is great for road trips and big hauls.

- Mari G

Great handling, low maintenance SUV

Nice handling SUV. Dependable and low maintenance. Expensive to take to the Ford Dealership if anything does go wrong. Pretty easy to fix most things yourself. Surprisingly good on gas if you keep up the maintenance. Made safe and sturdy. The back crack happens on these. Ford won't fix it.

- Tanya M

That it gives great service.

This is the second Explorer that I have had, and I have been extremely pleased with it. I have had it for 16 1/2 years now. When people ask me why I don't get a new card I ask why should I? This one has given me great service. I'll probably keep driving it until it finally falls apart.

- Nan M

Blue Ford explorer Eddie Bauer edition

The sunroof is a nice feature and third row seating. Bought at a dealership in GA with high mileage but NO RUST which is hard to come by. Tires are all season bought at Walmart for four hundred twenty five dollars. It's an Eddie Bauer Ford explorer. Blue. Tire size is 225/70R16 I believe.

- Frankie C

Description of my 2002 ford explorer reliability and features.

I might be here who is very reliable. I haven't had to do much maintenance on it. It is a 2002 and it still runs really good. It is a four-door so it has lots of space and room in the back. It also has powered windows and locks and a password panel on the outside of the door to unlock it.

- Thomas J

The extra seats are a great asset.

The vehicle runs great although a little costly on gas I like the usage of the keypad entry and high quality driving performance. Runs really good to be a older make SUV but overall I would recommend it to anyone with a family for the extra seats are one of the best features of this car.

- Amanda T

Ford car is a car for you so go and buy one for you and your family.

Its ok, gives me a lot of problems, need to fix a lot, I put a lot of money into it, if you like fords then buy one they are ok, they drive good and good in the snow, so if you like to save gas it's good on gas, it is safe, i like it, I would tell people to buy one for the snow and gas.

- Sandra L

Reliable 4 wheel drive comfortable vehicle

Comfortable. Gets excellent gas mileage. Have taken many road trips. Repairs have been minimal. I currently have 160,000 miles on the vehicle and it runs like a champ. I would highly recommend this vehicle. It is 4 wheel drive and when I lived in Virginia it was great in the snow.

- Linda I

It is a overall good vehicle.

It's a ok vehicle no air but it has a heater it gas it has power windows and locks it has four doors 2 full back seats and a big trunk it is maroon and it has survived throw hitting a deer. It is a 2002 ford explorer 4 x 4 SUV it has a good radio and CD player overall it is a great car.

- Heather B

Ford is the right way to go.

My vehicle was purchased after I had a wreck it was a used vehicle but it was well taken care of and the previous owner kept it up everything worked no scratches or dents I have been on many vacations in it and had no problems this Ford Explorer has given me my money worth I love it.

- Nathaniel C

My vehicle is an awesome size. It is not too little where I am dragging on the floor, but also not too large that I don't fit in places.

My car tends to have a lot of issues with the starter. I have countless problems with the starter just going out and me needing to fix it. I have also had to replace numerous parts just to keep the vehicle alive. However, when things are not breaking and actually work I love my car.

- Zanita Zofia M

4 wheel drive SUV, with lots of space for a smaller SUV.

It has been the best vehicle I have owned. No problems with it and I have owned for 10 years. Very roomy, and love that it's a 4 wheel drive SUV. The only thing I would have liked to see is a better transmission. Have had seen a lot of negative about the transmissions in these SUVs.

- Cameron B

Reliable vehicle even with high mileage. Definitely would buy another Explorer.

I love this SUV. Very reliable even with high mileage. There are some cons. The rear wheel bearings go out quite a bit. The air conditioning no longer works and it takes a long time to heat up in the winter. These are the only cons it has. I definitely would buy another Explorer.

- Peggy D

Ford Explorer is a dependable SUV.

I like my Ford Explorer. I dislike that it's 2 door. I also dislike only enough space for 2 passengers in the back. It is dependable and easy to drive. It's not too big yet not too small. The trunk space is plentiful. Getting in and out of the back seat is difficult for adults.

- Tal H

The perfect family and keeps family happy.

I really like my truck, it has been very reliable, it only broke down twice, it is perfect for my family, it ride good for a older vehicle, it has really good features, I am able to use my choice in music, it comfortable for long term trips and very roomy for all the extra stuff.

- Elizabeth C

2002 Ford Explorer all rear drive.

I really love my SUV. It is great on gas, got lots of room. Only thing u really hate about it is that it is not a four wheel drive. So in the winter time it sucks because it is all rear drive. Right now it is only has 132, 000 miles on it. Got to get a new fuel filter for it. . .

- Alicia H

The 2002 Explorer is up to the challenge. Bring it on!

Our 2002 Ford Explorer has been extremely reliable. Not only is it a comfortable daily driver, but it has proven to be a capable tow vehicle. We like to camp and have traveled a lot of miles towing a boat and carrying a load of kids and gear. The Explorer has yet to let us down.

- Johnny D

My SUVs review. I hope that my review will help others.

My ford explorer XLT is in great shape and the 4x4 works great in the snow and mud. The only problem I have had is that I had to replace the 2 front wheel hubs other than that it is been a great SUV and I have 256,654 miles. It has a lot of room in it and it has 3 rows of seats.

- Troy E

2002 Ford Explorer would not trade it. Only 173, 000 miles.

Never had any trouble. I love it and would not trade it. Has 173, 000 miles. Has needed nothing. Love. My SUV. Does not have good gas mileage but it does not matter. Body I love it has many features and has every comfort. Would never get rid of it. Body is still in good shape.

- Kathy G

Good all around vehicle. Good gas mileage. Four wheel drive is a plus.

Had to get a rebuilt transmission after 100,000 miles! Good sturdy vehicle. Does well in snow. Has 4 wheel drive. Plenty of room for groceries, supplies, etc. Drives nice. Good vehicle for camping and outdoors. Plenty of legroom. Back seats can be folded down for extra space.

- John P

My truck is better than yours! At least in my heart.

I have a v8 and love the acceleration that comes with it. The only issue that I have come across with it that has repeated is that the transmission keeps slipping and we have replaced its solenoid twice. Other than that, my leather seats, 3rd row seating and v8 keep me happy.

- Kim H

Ford Explorer. It is busted.

Water tank leaks, overheats, accelerator is busted, axles are shocked. Want to get it fixed but it would be cheaper to just get a whole new car. Only thing is I do not want to get rid of it because sentimental value. It is very comfy just all those problems are not worth it.

- Zachary Y

The car is comfortable, but reliability of the car's transportation varies.

After 150, 000 miles problems all around car start to wear and tear. Wheel bearings, tranny, door controls. However after this many miles it is to be expected. The interior is still very well kept and comfortable. Definitely a gas hog unless taking a long trip on interstate.

- Perry T

Our car runs very well. It's economical and saves us headaches.

The only problem I can say that we have encountered with our vehicle is that we needed to refill the freon for the air conditioner. Also just changed the air filter because it was running kind of sluggish by after we changed that and the spark plugs it runs like a champ now.

- Annette M

Drive it until it dies, Fixing is costly

Timing chain issues are common, as is engine problems after 200k miles. Window motors wear and tear slows windows from rolling up and down without issue. AC compressor issues are also common which affects the other two components that the serpentine belt are connected to.

- Jenny H

It's not bad on gas as most people would thing.

The only real problem I ever have had is timing chain issue. It has 3 and when the back one goes, you have to pull the engine. Comfort wise, it is the xlt, and it is great when on a trip, plus 3rd row seating makes for plenty of room. 4 wheel drive is awesome in the snow.

- Laurie D

It is a gas guzzler. I do not drive it for recreation as much as I'd like but it does the job of getting me to and from work and the stores.

While my vehicle is old, it runs really well. The people who owned it before me took really good care of it and I continue to do so as well. I like that it runs great. The only thing I dislike about it is that it costs so much to fill up and the mileage isn't that great.

- Kayla C

It's falling apart the older it gets.

The older it gets it just falls apart no matter how well it has been taken care of. One thing after another. It's a domino effect. Other then that it gets me to my destination. Just take good care don't let people borrow your car. They won't take care of it like you do.

- Shannon G

I love that I can fit up to 7 people in my car its great for going to road trip

This vehicle has 7 passengers seats available, it's great for families with kids or great for single people as well. It's a 4wd good in the snow it runs great the gas usage it's ok. I drive it to work everyday as long as am in the highway the gas usage is under control.

- Oscar H

I love the 4 wheel drive.

My car is a well maintained 2002 Ford Explorer. It is fully loaded with towing package and 4 wheel drive. It gets great gas mileage, the seats are super comfortable and the is plenty of space for hauling everything I need. The seats fold down to make extra hauling room.

- Barbara P

They need to bring this one back!

Well, this vehicle (Explorer sport trac) is no longer produced, but that is too bad, because it has been a great one! They should consider bringing it back. Good quality, good appearance, very Versatile, very few problems, as long as I keep up preventative maintenance.

- Lynda H

Family vehicle perfect for adventures!

This vehicle has been amazing for our family. It has been reliable for several years and is perfect for our daily activities as well as our weekend adventuring. It provides plenty of room for our growing family when many vehicles make our kids feel cramped in the back.

- Jessica L

Ford xlt 2002, first car but wouldn't trade

Although my car is older, and it was my first car, I wouldn't trade it for any other car. It has some transmission problems when shifting into reverse as well as the ABS light on. It has a TV installed with a remote control. Electric seats and windows as well as locks.

- Jennifer A

Very reliable, great vehicle.

I have never had an issue with my Ford Explorer. It is a very reliable vehicle. It is also very family friendly vehicle! I have taken many 5 hour trips in it. I absolutely love it. If I were ever to upgrade to a newer vehicle, I would definitely get an Explorer again!

- Carlie B

2002 Ford Explorer - new owner.

I just recently got this vehicle but I love the size of it. There is plenty of room for my daughter's legs even in her car seat. The car is very easy to drive also which is important to me. The car runs great even with over 200, 000 miles and being over 15 years old.

- Terri P

my explorer experience my car is 17 years old, and it has always been decent.

it has worked very reliably over the past decade of owning it, the only issues have been a gas pump problem and a tire hub replacement, both of which now work fine. It is a comfortable ride, still runs well and smooth for the age it is, and the mileage it has on it.

- Quinn S

Love my car. Would buy another brand new if I could afford it

Love my car. Other than regular ware and tare I haven't had issues. Air conditioning works great. Love the leather and heated seats. If I had to buy another car it would be a ford. I especially love the explorers. Mine has a DVD player which is good on long trips.

- Kim M

Still runs strong after 120k miles and is very reliable.

My car is a tank easy to fix easy to find parts the parts are cheap for this vehicle, this car is reliable. It has over 120k miles and is still running strong. It is American made. And it has four wheel drive that always works it has a factory remote start on it.

- Louis B

Absolute best vehicle ever.

This is by far one of the greatest vehicles I have had, strong and reliable!! We are a family of 6 and we all fit comfortably, when we decide to buy a new vehicle we will just be buying a newer model of the explorer I doubt we will ever go with any other vehicle.

- Barbara A

4wd SUV great small family vehicle

It is very comfortable for my family of 4, auto windows and locks, it has 4wd, am, FM and CD player, has nice space in the back plus two storage compartments in the bottom, only issue I have had since I owned it is the airbag light from the passenger seat buckle.

- Brittany P

The good, the bad, the Explorer.

Reliable - 180,000 miles, transmission went at 71,000. Comfortable, roomy (has third row seating). Not great on gas but may be due to age and mostly city driving. Only complaint is only one key hole and no auto opener - can be a hassle when trying to open hatch.

- Kathleen M

My vehicle is sober and it has light grey interior.

Some of the problems with my 2002 Ford Explorer; the passenger side window leaks. The car runs pretty well. Have yet to ever be stranded in my vehicle, has continued to be a very reliable ride. The leather seats give my vehicle a comfortable ride. I love my car!

- Neil T

Love my vehicle very safe.

The performance and reliability of this vehicle have been great. It was my grandpas and then he passed it down to me. I have hardly had any problems with it in my 5 years of driving. I feel very safe. The only issue is the check engine light comes on randomly.

- Ashlyn D

My current gas saving ride!!

Overall I like my explorer. It gets great gas mileage. I love the sunroof. I love that it is all electric. It is small but has room to haul a few things if needed. About the only thing I do not like is that it rides a little rougher than my previous explorer.

- Robin S

Explorer for the win. Comfy and reliable.

When replacing the rear wheel bearings it is a pain but it's way cheaper to get the whole part at autozone than to do it piece by piece by yourself. You'd need a welder for that. Other than all that its a comfy vehicle and definitely reliable in the long run.

- Cheyenne L

7 passenger seating is great for a large family or those who travel frequently.

This vehicle has the essentials needed for comfort and safety like Air conditioning, electric windows and locks, leather seats, 7 passenger seating, easy to fold down seats, and airbags. My favorite part is the 7 passenger seating for children and car seats!

- Celeste K

The best of your Ford truck.

My truck is perfect size for my family. I has all the features I like except for the radio is not what expected to be this is important since I spend a lot of time in my truck it. For Ford this is a good year it has not broke down so I would say it reliable.

- A C

Ford Explorers are high maintenance

Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. Very high maintenance vehicle and very expensive to repair. You can't even check the transmission fluid without having a special tool. The door sensors have gone out twice causing the alarm to go off randomly.

- Jaime W

2002 Ford Explorer. Great choice for any occasion.

My Ford Explorer is very reliable and great for any adventure with the 4WD. Its performance is extremely good for a 2002 model. It is also big enough for my family of 4. (2 kids under 2yrs) I would not trade it for anything. I have now complaints about it.

- Leah H

It has a great hitch for pulling any weight. If you get stuck you can get out.

Two years ago I bought this SUV for $2500. One month later the transmission went out, then the motor, spark plugs, battery and everything had to be replaced. Took me a year and 2 months to fix it back together. After that I found out how much gas it took.

- Catherine J

2002 Ford Explorer Limited.

No problems. It Is old but comfortable. 8 cylinder. I bought it for $1200 and it costs me about $300 a year In maintenance. Is a good car that I will keep for awhile. I might be looking for something new. I might get a Toyota 4 runner or a smaller car.

- Robert H

Ford explorer 2002 Eddie Bauer.

It is seems to be reliable and I like the interior size. It is very large. A third row seat. Lots of trunk space. Good heater and air. Heated seats. Rear temperature control. Not to good on gas. Gets about 8 miles per gallon. Usually starts when its cold.

- Toni S

The back vents and the controls in the back have to be the most interesting.

I love my car very reliable and comfortable fits my height just right. I love the back air vents and the controls in the back fits all my kids and enough space. It's also good on gas doesn't take much to fill its tank the miles are great and tires too.

- Gloria A

Awesome for winter months and for hauling things.

I feel like I would like my vehicle a lot more if it was newer. Because it is a 2002 there are many problems with it. I am constantly fixing things. However, when it is fixed it does drive nice. I live in the Midwest and it is awesome for winters here.

- Jodi M

Once you go Explorer, you'll never go back

This Explorer is a very reliable car. The height and size on the road are great. It handles well, and makes me feel safe on the road. It doesn't have the newest features and technology, but it still feels modern. It has plenty of leg and storage room.

- Amanda L

High mileage Ford Explorer sport '02. W/186, 000 miles.

Ford lifetime ball joints wear out at about 150, 000 miles and must be replaced. Ford has a very good stereo sound system. There is no easy way to change the transmission fluid, there is no drain plug. The a/c is very dependable, no service required.

- Howard K

Love my yellow neon truck. Quite reliable.

I purchased my truck brand new at the dealership back in 2002. Love my truck because it has been very reliable, and the ability to have several passengers plus be able to carry equipment in my cargo area has been epic! Problems now are due to aging.

- Deborah d

Its value, to me, is priceless and it means the world to me.

I love, my vehicle because it's a Ford. And it has great sentimental value and its. Paid for. . It's in the, shop now but it's been a great vehicle so far. . And soon as I get it repaired. I am sure it'll continue to be. A reliable and fun vehicle.

- James L

It has issues such as front suspension, bushings are missing.

I starts and it gets me to point a told point b. The heater core leaks water so it overheats. What I dislike about my car is in the winter when it's cold you can switch the setting to heat because the door is stripped so it stays on cold air.

- Alejandro G

Sometimes the doors are complicated. They don't stop when a passenger is next to it and they don't always close all the way and you have to push the door button at the front.

I barely have complaints about this van. It's spacey and comfortable. There are a few things that are wrong with it like how the door sometimes doesn't close on the first try, but overall it is a fantastic functioning vehicle that I love.

- Sarah S

Large trunk, no third row

My car is very old so we're starting to have tons of issues with the car (electrical panel). There has been 2 recalls on the car, one regarding the seatbelt. Having 3 kids I do like the size of the SUV especially the trunk space.

- Tasha W

V8 cylinder has no problem making power and fairly good Highway economy, 23 miles per gallon Isley easily attained by less than 2000 RPMs at highway speeds

I am very pleased with my Ford Explorer it is all wheel drive and plenty of room and very luxurious inside. the only thing I do not like about the engine has a plastic intake manifold which is beginning to crumble and leak.

- Stephen y

Its old with a lot of problems.

It cuts off sometimes, it stalls sometimes. The speedometer don't work. 1 of the windows don't go down. It makes noise that I can't figure out where its coming from. The drivers seat doesn't go back or fourth its jammed.

- Marie O

mpg only 15-16 miles per gallon. Ford lifetime ball joints wear out at about 125,000 miles. Then need replaced.

It has room to haul items in the back. mpg is only 15-16 miles per gallon. Has a decent stereo/radio. a/c is very good. Paint holds up very good. No rust. Looks very good. Dependable, but mpg could be better.

- clyde k

V8 fast and large enough for farm and city.

I love this car for its v8 engine, driving in rural and highway into city need high performance and need it quickly. I love 3 rows of seating for family or can lay down the seats in back rows for hauling horse feed.

- Diana O

Love this truck! I would buy another one!

I love my truck. It has so much room and rides really well. I had issues with the transmission jamming in between gears at one point but after getting under it and unjamming it, I have not had any trouble since.

- Shawn S

It's a great family car whether it's for road trips or running errands the vehicle is great.

I love that my car fits all my family comfortably. I also live that when I shop all of my groceries and family fit comfortably. I do not like that at 8 cylinders and with gas prices it costs me $50 to fill up.

- Adriana G

It has always run extremely well and has never been a problem.

This is probably the best car I've own. It runs smooth every time I turn the key and has never given me a moments trouble. It is a good size however it is expensive to fill it when I let the tank get too low.

- Leen D

It has really high miles but still drives like a brand new car.

I love my vehicle. It's very roomy yet not too big. The only problem I have ever had is the fuel sensor went bad and I had it replaced. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone with more than 2 kids.

- Mary S

The 2002 model is prone to having its door sensors stop registering that the door is closed making your light stay on and drain your battery. The light is hard to recognize as on during the day so it's easy to have a battery die while out if the issue occurs. However, the sensor is an easy fix.

It's a Ford which I'm not that fond of brand wise. The only saving graces that it is affordable. It also has enough seating for my kids with functional climate control in the back desperate from the front.

- Rae M

It is a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport with 200,000 miles very good vehicle paint is chipping what else would you like to know about my car

Body vehicle new in 2002 have done routine maintenance like oil changes tune-up spark plugs air filter changes have not had any major problems out of the vehicle just routine maintenance no big complaints

- Albert M

It has room for the whole family to ride in and I have a family of six.

I like that It is a 4x4 during the winter months. I also like the fact that my whole family can ride in it with the 3rd row seating. I don't like the fact that It using as much gas as a big truck would.

- Jack D

Chevy fan pleasantly surprised by explorer.

My ford explorer is closing in on 200,000 miles. I bought her second hand, which is always a gamble. I am pleasantly surprised on what a great truck she is. That is saying a lot coming from a Chevy fan.

- Tessa P

My car may be a little beat up but we rebuilt the engine.

I like almost everything about my car. It has a lot of room for my two car seats. It also has a lot of trunk space and the leather seats that I like. The only thing I wish it had was better gas mileage.

- Margaret G

It gets me and my kids to and from the places we go on a regular basis safely and comfortably.

I love the room it provides my big family. Me and my family living in WV I like the fact it is 4x4. I don't like the fact it takes me a lot more money then I am used to, to put the gas it takes in it.

- edith m

Useful, dependable if a bit uninspired.

It is dependable. We are active people with many outdoor hobbies and the SUV is perfect for carrying bikes, hiking gear and kayaks. The 4 wheel drive is useful when we are driving on unpaved roads.

- cyn m

My 2002 Ford Explorer looks like it has seen better days, and that is true. But it is still a pretty reliable vehicle.

My 2002 Ford Explorer gets me from point a to point B. Because it is an older vehicle, it has had some issues, and requires the high mileage oil change. Over all it is a pretty good work vehicle.

- Sam S

It's a workhorse! It has gotten us where we needed to be, safely, for years!

I loved it when I got it, in 2007. However it is now 16 years old, and tons of miles, and I'd like something newer and more reliable. However, I stick w/ it because I can't afford a car payment.

- Stacie C

The safety and dependability.

I love the room and dependability. I love my heated seats in the winter. I love that it has rear air. I can open my garage at the push of a button. Only problem I have is that it loves gasoline.

- Teresa J

It is a midsize, manageable car with a decent amount of power.

My Ford Explorer Sport is the perfect size for me, easily manageable, tho at times I would prefer it to have 4 doors instead of 2. I feel more protected in it as opposed to a small compact car.

- Chris W

It is spacious and comfortable for errands and vacations.

I love the space in my Ford. The fact that it holds my family, which is a size of six, comfortably is amazing. I have noticed since it's currently broke down, just how much we miss the vehicle.

- Leslie L

It is a pretty dependable vehicle and I'd recommend it to others.

I love my Explorer. It's spacious enough for my family still sporty enough to go cruising alone. The gas mileage isn't terrible but could be better. It makes hauling things around pretty easy.

- Bradley T

That it has character and is very old

I like that it is large enough for my family. I like that I am able to use it as a truck. What I dislike about it is that it is so old that parts for it are some sometimes difficult to find.

- A h

It's roomy, a comfortable ride and is 4 wheel drive.

I love the comfort of the vehicle and when it was in better shape it handled really nice in all weather conditions. Right now it needs to be replaced but I would definitely buy the same suv.

The paint job is starting to fade or disappear. it's weird. look at all older For explorers mainly on the hood the front of the roof and the back lift gate

I have loved my car. I have 250K miles on it and have driven all over the Midwest. When it comes time (with in the next year or so) I will more then likely look to get the same type of car

- Kevin M

This vehicle has a comfortable ride and plenty of legroom.

It does have a smooth ride. It also has nice room. The one thing I don't like is the dashboard in front of the driving area is a high rounded area that's sometimes bothersome to see over.

- Steven D

- Anna R

it is great for bigger families. I always have plenty of room for my teen boys and my baby along with me and my spouse.
