Great car until the miles get high or your family needs more space.

2008 Ford Explorer XLT

I love my car for me. But I have 3 kids, 2 in car seats and 1 in a booster seat. They all fit back in the back seat without a problem, which is why I bought the car. There is a decent amount of trunk space and I like the truck feel of it. I have owned it for a year and in that year I have put over $2k worth of work into it, aside from basic maintenance, just to keep it running. Now it needs a new transmission and I am not willing to foot the bill for that repair. The car had 193k miles on it. IF I did not feel like our lifestyle was outgrowing the car (we cannot fit all of our camping stuff in the back and the kids are too close to each other in the back seat) I would replace the transmission and then probably even the engine when the time comes because I really like the car for me. My family just needs more space.

Perfect for the needs of my family!

2008 Ford Explorer XLT

Overall, my explorer has been very reliable. Most of the maintenance issues are, I believe more related to the age of the vehicle. I love the large capacity. Because of the age of the vehicle, it is larger than the newer explorer models. The explorer fit my family of four comfortably with plenty of room for everything from groceries, to luggage and vacation items, to moving two kids in and out of college dorms.

The 2008 Ford Explorer is a great SUV for a family with kids.

My 2008 Explorer hasn't given me no problems. Had 3rd seats and plenty of room space in the back for when we have to travel. It's great on gas mileage also. The parts are very easy to fix if you're good with tools. I've been told that the transmission goes out first in these types of cars. Haven't had no trouble with mines. Keep the oil change and regular tune ups and it'll last for a lifetime

Practical low maintenance costs doesn't really require a ton of gas great 4x4 in the snow. Convenient bed for runs to home depot good for a small family parts are inexpensive able to work on it on my own, good looking little truck only problems heat and ac seem to have issues at times but easy fixes typically hard cover bed has lock on it convenient

Older explorer still works great.

2008 Ford Explorer XLT

My explorer is a little older and I bought it used in 2010. Compared to other used cars that I have bought the explorer has held up quite well. I have driven it from coast to coast twice and it still is working in great condition minus regular minor repairs that are warranted for the age and mileage on the car.

Older ford that has held it is value.

2008 Ford Explorer XLT

It is very roomy and gets great gas mileage for it is size and cargo capacity. I can tow a small boat with it without problem. The repairs on this vehicle have not been excessive at all for it is mileage. It has held up really well for being a 10 year old car. I would not hesitate buying another one.

I feel safe in my Ford Explorer. The seats are comfortable, and it's very roomy.

2008 Ford Explorer XLT

I do not regret purchasing my Ford Explorer. It's easy to drive and has a lot of room for myself, child and friends. I have had the transmission replaced at 97,000 miles. This has been a good vehicle, the starter is currently dead, at 107,000 miles. Other than those issues I love my explorer.

I love my explorer and cannot imagine driving anything else.

2008 Ford Explorer XLT

Never had any problems with this vehicle. It is nice and roomy. It has been extremely reliable. My next vehicle will be the same make and model. It is 4 wheel drive and my husband says it is the best 4 wheel drive SUV he has ever driven. He says it will go anywhere!!
