There are excellent engine choices available, class-leading towing capacities, and the off-road focused Raptor model is more fun to drive than rivals.

The 2013 model feels outdated inside compared to some newer trucks, the suspension is rougher than some rivals, and the infotainment system is tricky to use.

Ford f150 is the truck made for a living.
This vehicle has driven smoothly for the most part. Gas is a problem and the mpg can be better but it is a truck so it is as expected. It shakes when braking. I do like the features it comes with such as the Bluetooth connectivity for music. It does have cruise control which I like to use to save gas. The vehicle is comfortable.

Big guys need big trucks and the f-150. Is what you need.
I love my truck, I am a big guy and the truck is the roomiest vehicle I have ever had. It fits up to 6 very comfortably. It takes e85 which is cheaper than regular fuel. The truck is smooth and powerful and great for trips to the dump. It hold quite a bit for moves as well which is something to expect if you have a truck.

Ford f-150 ecoboost. Will never go back to any other truck.
The only issues I have had are a couple recalls but it is free of charge to get it fixed and I have gotten pretty good gas mileage for a truck with the ecoboost. I have also had a leak in the oil pan just other than that it is been great! My next truck will probably be another ford ecoboost.

Very spacious inside. The sync feature is very nice. Good power and handling.
Once has a speaker go bad, otherwise zero issues. I have kept up on the routine and suggested maintenance and have experienced only minor problems that were easily repairable by myself such as replacing the battery and tires. One time the ac smelled like river water but within a month or so it cleared up on its own.

My experience with my 2013 f150.
In the five years of owning my truck it had stalled out once. It was a fuel pump sensor that went out and I couldn’t accelerate anymore. Quick stop to the dealership and it was good as new. Since then it is been a great running truck that I plan on keeping for many more years.
accountCircle Henry B
Great truck, great value, only going f150.
Great truck, breaks wear a tad fast, but it is acceptable. Love the ecoboost. Sounds great and really adds power. Good hauling capacity, great instrumentation. My one real complaint is that the backup. Sensor could be a bit more accurately; it is still good and it works.Fine. But just a thought.

Excellent truck and would recommend to anyone to buy one.
It is very reliable. Great in the snow. Did have to get the dashboard replaced twice due to it cracking but it was under warranty. When purchased we bought an extended warranty. Very comfortable ride. Air conditioning works great, gets extremely cold fast.
accountCircle Bertie B
The automatic running boards.
No complaints about this vehicle. I love the smooth ride and the way I'drives. The comfort of heated and cooling seats the power seat that automatically goes to my seating preference along with the backup camera and navigation. And oh yes the step in the tailgate.

Ford dealers in Hawaii DO NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY
From the time i bought my truck something was wrong with my truck and for several months the staff and mechanics kept telling me nothing was wrong.well there was in fact something wrong with my truck and even now ford refuses to fix what was wrong from the beginning. So of course i will not recommend my friends and family to buy a ford truck. At least until ford steps up and takes responsibility for 1. Their defective products and 2 take responsibility and fix my truck sensors that your wrong products screwed up

2103 F150 FX, idles fine, but loses power before I get to the end of the block. Park, turn off and restarts fine. Repeats process. No power, no rpm.

Many issues for a 6 year old truck
Just received quote for engine light issue. $8,300 (cdn) plus tax, 133,000km. This engine should just be broken in... Not broken down. Timing chain stretched, both Turbo Chargers need to be replaced, that does not include turn signal intermittent issues. This vehicle has not been abused, oil changes regularly and on time. We loved the truck when we took it for initial test drive, very roomy, 6.5’ bed, great for pulling small tent trailer. Great to drive before now...

RELIABILITY + REPAIRS NIGHTMARE
PROS: It’s very nice to drive, has a good turning radius, it has a huge rear cabin and front cabin. The captains chairs in the front are extremely comfortable and good for the back.it has good visibility because it has a rear sensing camera that seen on the rearview mirror While in reverse gear and its side mirrors provide zero blind spots. It is extremely fast: 350 horse power andprovides a super comfortable ride. CONS: Purchased NOV ‘16 w/25k miles & now MAY ‘19 has ONLY 51k miles, driven regularly. Emergency break has seized, serpentine belt on engine needed replacement, alternator belt needed replacement, air conditioner needed repair no longer worked, and the 4 Wheel Dr. Differential Now needs to be replaced. I am probably missing a good many other repairs. This truck has had 63 recalls on it in six years. That is utterly ridiculous. I will never ever buy another Ford vehicle again

FORD REFUSES TO FIX PROBLEM
Do a quick google search about about F-150 (esp. 2012-2013) v8 and loud fan noise. There are countless reports/complaints about this problem for years and Ford has YET to properly identify and present a solution to owners (my wife included), who have spent thousands of dollars taking their vehicle to mechanics and dealerships, only to be told there’s nothing wrong or nothing that can be done. DON’T BUY an 2009-2014 Ford and certainly don’t expect Ford to step up to the plate and admit they have an engineering problem they need to fix.

Stay away from 2013 models
Worst truck I have ever owned. 90k miles and already over 10k in repairs including both turbo failures. Something new breaks about every 6 months.

I prefer a Toyota Sequoia. The only reason I have a Ford is because I downsized during a divorce and got stuck with this c**p that he picked.
I like that it's a truck. I hate that it's a Ford and Blue.

What Problems Does the 2013 Ford F-150 Have?

The 2013 Ford F-150’s three recalls and three investigations cover transmission downshift issues, problems with brake fluid loss. The 2013 F-150 has fewer problems than other full size trucks on the market. There are more complaints with the 2013 model than with the 2014, making the $2,000 upgrade worth the cost.

Engine problems, including shuddering and losing power, are common. The most likely source of the problem is the electronic throttle body. Replacing the assembly costs $300, and failures happen around 55,000 miles.

Brake rotors wearing out prematurely is another issue owners encounter frequently. Brake rotors tend to wear out faster when you use the truck for towing since the brakes have to stop more weight. There are options to turn and machine the rotors, or replace them with new ones. A replacement costs about $450 and solves the problem.

Erratic shifting from the transmission is also a frequent problem. The causes vary on a case-by-case basis, but problems with lead in the transmission, and damaged wiring harness connectors are common. Repairing the transmission costs about $960.

There are three recalls, which is better than other full size trucks from 2013. The recalls include a master cylinder rear cup seal leak, and an unexpected transmission downshift. Both are serious since they can lead to a driver losing control of the truck.

What are the Prices, Models & Specs?

The 2013 Ford F-150 is average priced for a full size truck, with a price range of $15,800 to $40,673, depending on the model and mileage. The most expensive model is the Raptor, which hold their value better than other versions. When new, the price range was $24,070 to $53,300. Depreciation is average for a large truck, losing 30% of the value in the first 5 years.

  • XL is the fleet-focused model with 17-inch steel wheels, vinyl seating, air conditioning, manual door locks, and an AM/FM stereo system.
  • XLT is next in the lineup with 17-inch aluminum wheels, cloth seating, automatic headlights, chrome exterior trim, keyless entry, exterior keypad, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, SYNC voice control, Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Lariat falls in the middle of the range and has 18-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, leather seating, heated front seats, a power sliding rear window, MyFord Touch infotainment, and two USB ports.
  • King Ranch offers rugged luxury with a 2-tone paint job, unique 18-inch wheels, upgraded leather, wood interior trim, running boards, parking sensors, heated rear seats, and a Sony stereo system.

How Long Will the 2013 Ford F-150 Last?

A properly cared for 2013 Ford F-150 will last about 300,000 miles, which is longer than some other full size trucks. Regular annual maintenance costs are more expensive than some rivals. Repair Pal estimates the costs to be $870 per year.

accountCircle Earl M

Yes. It has been very reliable. Other that routine maintenance, I have not had to make many repairs to main components on the vehicle.

accountCircle Hazel J

Yes it is reliable, has a few issues with coolant leaking but nothing major has happened to it other than normal wear and tear!

accountCircle Core D

I have had my f150 for 5 years and only problem I have had is water pump. The truck has been extremely reliable and never left me stranded, which is a common from my previous vehicles.

accountCircle Mark C

No the vehicle is extremely reliable. If you keep the service requirements up and drive it like it is made to be driven it will last well over 400k miles.

accountCircle Phyllis E

Not so far. It is very reliable and a good vehicle. I am very glad we purchased it. I would purchase another ford product in the future.

accountCircle Samantha H

It does not have any problems at the moment. The motor is very strong and low maintenance. I have not needed to work on it or have it service for anything yet.

accountCircle Bex S

The ford f150 is reliable. The only challenge we've had is that if the air conditioning goes it is hard to replace since the whole dash has to be removed.

accountCircle Steve T

No problems. Very dependable runs well on regular unleaded or e85. I have drive a bit over 50,000 miles, still the original brake pads and tire.

With the 6.2L V8 and EcoBoost V6, the towing capacity is class-leading at 11,300 pounds.

  • The base engine is a 3.7L V6 with 302 horsepower and 278 lb.-ft. of torque.
  • An upgraded 5.0L V8 has 360 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque.
  • The EcoBoost V6 is a 3.5L twin turbo and produces 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.
  • The flagship engine is the 6.2L V8, which makes 411 horsepower and 434 lb.-ft. of torque.

How Big is the F-150?

The 2013 Ford F-150 is a half-ton truck, and has similar exterior dimensions to the competition including the Ram 1500 and Silverado 1500 series. Being a large truck, the F-150 may have trouble fitting into some residential and commercial parking garages.

Three cabin choices are available, including a 2-door regular cab, a 4-door SuperCab, and a larger 4-door SuperCrew. Passenger room is cramped in the back seats of the SuperCab, but is very spacious in the SuperCrew. There are three bed options available as well at 5-foot-6-inch, 6-foot-6-inch, and 8-foot lengths.

How Does the 2013 Ford F-150 Compare to Other Trucks?

Ranking 7th out of 15 full size trucks on the market based on owner reviews, the 2013 Ford F-150 is in the middle of the class.

The highest-rated half-ton truck option is the more expensive Toyota Tundra. Where the Toyota stands out is with class-leading reliability ratings, and a more comfortable cabin. The Ford offers more powerful engine choices, an off-road focused model, and a higher towing capacity. The Tundra is a better long-term truck, but if you need to haul cargo for work then the F-150 wins.

A close competitor is the more affordable Ram 1500 series. The Ram has a class-leading infotainment system, and a more luxurious standard interior. Reliability ratings are better in the Ford with fewer owner complaints, and there are more powerful engine choices available. Overall, the F-150 is a better choice and will outlast the Ram.

Great running but rust rust and more rust
Own a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT Supercrew 5.0. Love my truck. 171,000 miles and mechanically nothing major as I keep up on maintenance. The most expensive things I've had to do is front end suspension replacement parts. Love how it runs and drives. MPG isn't great but for a 10 year old V8 I don't expect it to be. Now the bad...rust rust and more rust. For some reason the rear corners of the cab and underneath tend to rust bad. I believe it's due to leakage through the bed light housing which then rusts from the inside out. Unfortunately this will likely cause me to get rid of it before I normally would to upgrade to a newer year with less rust issues.

Take care of it, it will take care of you.
I’ve owned my truck for 4 yrs and I’ve had a few problems. One very nice feature is “limp mode” that happened once and it saved my entire engine. I had no idea that this truck did this. But Thankgod. You just gota work the bugs out and keep up the maintenance. It’s the smoothest riding truck and just beautiful inside and out although I take very good care of it. You could say I’m a bit obsessed with her. I hope they can add handicap stuff cause I plan on keeping this baby.

I do not have any problems with my truck. I enjoy the dark brown heated leather seats. I really like the back up camera. It is located in the radio. It helps you to be able to back up very easily. I, also, have a sunroof that works well. I really like how I can see the ground from up behind the wheel.

Nice extra features - expected mpg for truck.
The power controls for the back window are nice. The back seat is also nice, but the rear-opening doors can be a pain sometimes since the front doors must be open in order to open the rear doors. The mpg averages about 15/16 mpg, which is lower than desired but a bit expected for a truck.

The back seat room is huge! Under seat storage the seats both flip up.
Absolute love the vehicle. Huge interior space. Heated and a/c seats are amazing. The ecoboost motor in this year model has given us a fair amount of problems though. My 2013 has 85k miles, and we have replaced the motor, spent 2k on new tensioners and timing chain, and it once again needs work on the tensioners and timing chain.

My ford f-150 - a great riding pickup up.
For a truck it runs very smooth and is quiet.Ride is comfortable. It has enough power to haul heavy loads. It is easy on gas the back seat is easy to get in and out of. There is very little storage under the seat and none behind the seat. If I was to replace it I would get four full doors.

When it tows trailers, it handles very well!
I love my f-150. It handles much better than Silverados and dodge rams of around the same year. It is a good size and the backup camera is a great addition. It has been very reliable, even after it took a little crash into a pond. Runs very well. Some problems I have had are determining the pressure levels of the tires, as the low pressure sensor is very sensitive. It is very comfortable in the back seat for a crew cab (not full 4 door).

The 2013 ford f-150 it runs as good as it looks.
I have had no problems with my 2013 ford f-150 it runs smooth and drives smooth and steers great. I only wish it was red in color and not blue. Comfort is fantastic and the reliability of it seems great. It is just not too fancy with its displays as all the gauges are analog not digital and the center console is not very fancy. I do wish I had those fancier light bulbs though, the xenon lights. But overall I plan on having this ford f-150 for a long time. Powerful with all the options one would love to have in their vehicle.
I bought this truck in PA where salt is not used on the roads during winter months. The comfort level is exceptional with the electric seat positions, including lumbar support. I needed a truck that had a full towing package for a trailer and was wired, has the electric brake, tow/haul button, as well as being able to drive it manually in need when towing. It is a crew can with plenty of room for 3 people in the back. It is a high vehicle so ground clearance is no problem. The rear camera on the rear mirror is helpful when backing up.

My 2013 ford f-150 lariat is loaded with features (leather, heated and cooled seats) and with the 3.5l ecoboost engine, the twin turbos really make it move. At 6’8”, the supercrew offers me enough room to be comfortable up front and hold car seats in the back for the kids.

My car is very comfortable to drive and ride in and doesn't feel to big even though it is a good size truck.
My vehicle is a four door pick up truck. I love the amount of room in the cab and the extra storage space in the bed. I also like the power and gas mileage for a truck.

I love the trim of the leather. The leather itself is very high quality.
It is just very large for my body size, I am only 5'2 ft. I love the black leather included in my truck. The sound system is very nice but I had to have it replaced just due to wanting a newer speakers for the front and sides of the truck. It is great for outdoors, dirt bike riding, camping, and movies at the drive in. I love that the settings on the main screen have many options for personal preference. The gas mileage is okay compared to other large cars.

A great truck and a great deal.
I have not had a single problem with this truck. I really like it. I get reasonable gas mileage and it has adequate power. I do wish it had some additional features, but I got a great deal on it. I would definitely buy another f-150 when I am ready to trade this one in.

It pays to shop around. We went out of state to get the best deal. It more than paid for the travel we did to pick it up.
I love the versatility of the truck as it's a crew cab. It has heated and air conditioned seats which make it great in winter and summer. It also has the automated step up to get into the truck and folds away automatically when you close the doors.

2013 ford f150 general thoughts.
I enjoy the truck for the most part. I have the 3.5l ecoboost engine and it has a known problem with condensation/oil buildup in the intercooler for the turbos. But the fix is inexpensive and not hard to do. Other than that I've had good reliability. The truck is very comfortable and good looking. Stock sound system is good as well.

It's a king Ranch. Black and Tan interior.
No problems it's been a great car. Would purchase again. It's comfortable and has USB and plug in outlet and hidden compartments. We would buy this truck model again and again. It's very big. Hard to get in garage at times but it's a safe study car and we love it. It's great for hauling things also

It rolls and there's no reason I should have a better chance of getting a new.
It is everything I could want and more! It rides great and handles well. I have the limited edition so it is fully loaded on the inside and it looks great on the outside. Before having my daughter, I always drove sports cars, usually manuals. Things change when you have kids. I needed a family vehicle and a minivan was out of the question. The first time I drove my truck I was in love. I do not miss my 6 speed one bit.

F-150 fx4 supercrew with 5.0 coyote v8.
My truck has had no major performance issues. With routine maintenance I have driven it for over 115000 miles. The front seats are leather and are heated and cooled. Both are powered with lumbar support. It has a touch screen with navigation and Bluetooth. This specific model also came with a 2' lift and skid plates for immediate off-road use. I have driven all over the country through all kinds of weather without a breakdown. The backup camera and sensors make parking easy. Connecting to a trailer is a snap with the on screen guide lines. Lastly the 5.0 coyote v8 engine has had no issues from sea level to high altitude living in Colorado. I would buy this truck over and over but no need because mine is still rolling!

It has the functionality and drivability of a full size SUV with the capability of a truck.
I love how big the inside of the vehicle is while still allowing the towing capacity in the larger bed of the truck. The ride is super smooth and it still has good maneuverability. It gets really good gas mileage for a truck.

Ford f-150. Fx 4. Nice looking.
Had no issues with the truck. Very reliable and dependable. Had a copy of recalls but were fixed by ford at no cost. Has very low mileage only has 65,000 miles. We love the truck. Very comfortable and very roomy. It is my husband’s truck but we both drive it.

13 ford f150 XLT 5.0 4x4 is a reliable truck.
My 13 ford f150 XLT has all the features you need. It has been very reliable in the seven years I owned it. The only problem I have had was with the ac. I had to replace each item associated with it. I first had the truck up north so the ac was not used as much. But as far as everything else goes I enjoy driving this truck.

F-150 - the most dependable truck on the market.
Durable and dependable. Has held up very well. Smooth ride with a powerful engine. Very spacious interior. Advanced computerized interface. Wonderful support with maintenance from local ford dealer. Truck is also highly customizable. Long lasting and reliable.

My f150 is a quiet, powerful, smooth machine.
Aside from a weird electrical gremlin my mechanic cannot nail down (the radio volume occasionally cranks itself to maximum randomly for no known reason) I love this truck, got no complaints. Great power, great handling and enough power to get me and my tools where I want to be, as fast as I want to be there.

I recommend a ford to car buyers.
Plenty of room for legs and feet. Has a big spacey console. The vehicle drives very well. Great gas mileage and very reliable. Seats are very comfortable and I would recommend this vehicle to anybody looking to buy a ford model. The bed of the truck is very good for transporting work items or miscellaneous items. Personally and honestly I have no complaints or problems with the vehicle.

The Lexus is a well made smooth driving car in spite of it is age.
Love the roomy cab, back seat has lots of legroom. The seats are great. Easy to drive and backup camera really helps with backing out of close spaces.

This car is so fun to drive.
Plenty of room in the back seat for the family. Good fuel economy and the turbo helps a lot. The one item that is disappointing is there are no rear air vents.

Love my f-150 would not change it for the world.
I love my f-150. I opted for the 6 cylinder ecoboost engine in mine. I love the gas mileage that I get with it and it has plenty of power to haul or tow anything I have needed to. Ford also makes the best looking vehicles for years as well. I have never had any issues mechanically either.

Ecoboost gives this truck lots of power!!
Our truck has ecoboost so it has lots of power. It is a smooth ride. We have had few problems with it. The turn signal switch broke and the sensor for the backup camera stopped working. I drive it to work everyday and we get a lot of snow. It handles well in the snow.

Great truck I would buy again.
It is a big vehicle. Hard to park in a parking space swings very wide. You sit it very high which helps you see forward and sides. It is hard to backup. It is a truck so I think I will get 250,000 miles on it for the long run. As long as I change my oil and do regular maintenance on it.
