Alex Showalter
May 3, 2022

The 2007 Fusion can last over 250,000 miles with only some dash and brake problems. At $4,255 – 4,450, it’s affordable for a comfortable and reliable sedan.

likeFilled The Good
Passenger space is great, steering feel is tight and the ride is comfortable.
dislikeFilled The Bad
A lot of cheap plastic interior parts, anti-lock brakes are optional and the gauge cluster is hard to read.

Is the 2007 Ford Fusion a Good Used Car?

  • Yes, 2007 is a good year. Owner reviews praise the optional all-wheel-drive system, powerful engines, and nice stereo system.
  • Reliability ratings are above average. Models from 20062009 are all good, with a spike in complaints from owners starting in 2010.
  • Performance is okay from the 4-cylinder, but the V6 is more fun to drive.
  • The 2007 Fusion is a safe car, getting 4 out of 5 stars in government crash tests.
  • Fuel economy is good for a sedan, at up to 23 MPG combined.

Ford fusion has a few minor fixes. The car nice
Ford fusion is a good car it rides smooth. I love that I can lock doors and open the trunk by pushing button on my key. The car has enough space for my little family. Although I have been having problems with transmission lately and been having to take it to, the shop a few times. I really like the car but its got a lot of issues. I'm still, in the process of fixing it .

2007 ford fusion SE. A very affordable and efficient car
It is very reliable. It is great on gas, at the current price it costs about 30-35 dollars to fill it up. It get 400+ miles to each tank. It is very compact so if you're tall it isn't really a car that you would enjoy driving unless you like being squeezed into a small space.

Amazing, dependable, comfortable & most of all affordable.
It is a very reliable car, it is very comfortable and is a perfect car for traveling. It rides smooth and I have never had any problems with it. I have had it for three years now and it is by far the best car I have owned so far. It is one of my top recommendations as far as a reliable affordable comfortable car.

Really great car! Great mileage does not need much gas! Great for work or school I would really recommend it to a college student small but convenient. Comfort is the seats it has not many features but it does have a great stereo to it recommended to anyone who drives a lot

A Ford Product With Good Performance, and A Quality Ride For the Customer.
My Ford Fusion has been a very reliable car. The only problems that I have had, has been the PCM, or powertrain control module, or the computer that controls the engine. The reason that I had to change the module, was that I waited to long before I replaced the spark plugs and this cause an overload problem for the current rating of the computer output that supplies the voltage to fire the spark plugs. Other than that the gas mileage is good on the ford fusion, and it is a very smooth ride.
accountCircle Lori N
I love this fusion; the newer models appear to be more energy efficient, but smaller in size. I'm a tall person, and I fit comfortably in this size. Nothing to dislike at all.
Great car! Good mileage! If you take care of, with proper timely tune-ups, oil changes, tires, brakes, tire rotations, etc. It will last you a long time. Working on 300,000 miles; only about 20,000 shy @ this point.

My banged up ford fusion!
Recent accident has dented my car so no whenever I hit a bump, my front left tires scrapes the bumper. Also need brakes and an alignment. As far as the over car, it had a lot of miles when I purchased it used, but it still gets up and down the road with proper maintenance.

Worst car I have ever owned
I don't like anything about this car.I have had so many problems put of this car. The transmission is my car was running fine got in it to leave next day and won't shift out of first gear. Transmission fluid is fine no burnt or discoloration. Throes code off about intake manifold being stuck open in bank 1. But nthing about transmission. Have read about so many complaints about the transmission in this car that it should be recalled. But would not recommend this vehicle to anyone

Lots of problems with car
Having a lot of suspension issues with vehicle. My ball joint, control arm, alignment always goes out. Sunroof no longer works so there's now a leak when it rains. Bumps are very loud when driving. Car is easy to drive just a lot of costly maintenance all of the time.
accountCircle Tara W
Not the best car out there
I have Had to change out my transmission, my power steering has broken two times, my AC has broken 2 times which I have Fixed and it still only 1/2 way works. It's not a reliable car. I don't Feel confident that it would make it to Kansas or Texas from Central Oklahoma. I do Like how big the trunk is and that it is a bigger car and gas mileage is really good.
accountCircle Amie F
The body style is the only thing I like.
I might have enjoy the car when it was brand new off the line. But this car was bought from a used car dealership. Not that many miles on it for the year. But we only owe a little over $2,000 on it, we have only had it a little over a year now, and we put more than $2,000 into it and less than 6 months. If we didn't owe money on this car to the dealership and the loan, we would have gotten rid of it a long time ago. All the stuff that goes wrong with it, it is one thing after another and it is ridiculous. We just paid close to $400 a few days ago and still have 2 more issues to take care if that we cannot afford all at once.

2007 ford fusion flunk gets an f
Until this year, 2019, there was a safety recall on the passenger airbag. It wasn't fixed till this year. It seems that a lot of engine mounts go out on the 2007 Ford fusion as I have two other friends with this problem. As far as drivability, it runs decent enough.
accountCircle Mikayla V
It gets 52 miles per gallon.
It's getting to be an older vehicle and there's a few problems with it as far as dashboard lights that are on and the tranny is slipping.
accountCircle Uneed Y
Car was plagued with cheap plastic parts or sensors that have needed to be replaced from the first day.
Cheap seniors that need to be replaced. $20 parts, $1200 shop labor bills.

What Do Critics Say About the Fusion?

  • Consumer Reports says the Fusion is sporty and agile to drive while getting average owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds gives the Fusion a 4.7/5 liking the exterior styling, but disliking the poor braking performance.
  • Kelley Blue Book users rate the Fusion 4.6/5 and enjoy the affordable pricing, but dislike the lack of safety technology.

What Common Problems Does the 2007 Ford Fusion Have?

Problems with the 2007 Fusion are relatively minor compared to other midsize cars and include damaged dashboards, broken engine pulleys, and some brake issues.

Cracked and peeling dashboards are the most common complaints from owners at about 80,000 miles. Some owners install a dash cover costing about $100, while others replace the dashboard for over $1,000.

Failed idler pulleys on the engine happen on some vehicles at roughly 105,000 miles. Replacing the broken pulley is fairly easy and only costs around $200.

A loss of brake pressure is mentioned by some owners at around 70,000 miles. The brake master cylinder gets damaged when it hits bumps hard, and costs about $500 to replace.

There are 5 recalls, with the most serious one being for the antilock brake valve, which can stay open and reduce braking force. The other recalls cover air bags and floor mats, which are not a big concern once they’ve been replaced.

How Long Will the 2007 Ford Fusion Last?

A properly maintained 2007 Fusion will last around 250,000 miles, around 50,000 miles more than a top competitor like the Honda Accord. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other midsize sedans at $439 per year, according to Repair Pal.

Most 2007 Fusions will have over 100,000 miles, so buyers should be prepared to replace the fuel injectors for $350, the windshield wiper motor costing $275, and the transmission oil cooler which costs $650.

accountCircle Debby B

Yes, it is very reliable. I do have an airbag recall on it at this time and will be scheduling an appointment with the ford dealership for a free replacement and a car to drive while it is being replaced.

accountCircle C A

No, only a couple minor problems because it's a older car. But besides for small repair work it's a reliable car.

accountCircle Toni W

The ford fusion se is very reliable on parts because they're easier to find. Only problems you get are the basic worn down issues.

accountCircle Tyler B

The car is very reliable. Other than a battery it had never let me down and has kept me safe. I have only found cosmetic issues such as door pins and the radio screen not working.

accountCircle Mandi J

It is a very reliable and dependable vehicle. Air conditioning, after year 10, is the only thing not working on the vehicle.

accountCircle Vivian J

I had to install a oxygen sensor when engine light went on. It needed tire rods and boots and a battery that’s all since 2015

accountCircle Tiffany P

Yes it is reliable although we have had to replace the transmission twice on it because it kept slipping and would go into limp mode and through 8 different codes

accountCircle Jill R

This Ford Fusion has been very reliable. Other than having to soon schedule a repair appointment for an ”airbag recall” to be resolved, I am satisfied with my Fusion.

How Much Is the 2007 Ford Fusion Worth?

Blue book values range from $4,255 – 4,450, making the Fusion a few hundred dollars more expensive than a Subaru Legacy or Mazda6. When new, the price range was $17,430 to $24,020. Depreciation is similar to other midsize sedans, losing about 10% of its current value per year.

What are the Different Models of the Fusion?

There are three models of the Fusion available. Technology was just updated for 2007, and there’s a new touchscreen added for the 2010 model.

S is the entry-level model with:

  • 16-Inch Steel Wheels
  • Cloth Seating
  • Keyless Entry
  • Cruise Control
  • 4-Speaker AM/FM/CD Stereo System

SE is a step up adding features including:

  • 16-Inch Alloy Wheels
  • Premium Cloth Seating
  • Carbon Fiber Console Trim
  • 6-Speaker AM/FM/CD Stereo With In-Dash CD Changer

SEL is the flagship luxury model and has:

  • 17-Inch Alloy Wheels
  • Leather Seating
  • Wood Interior Trim
  • 8-Speaker Stereo System With Navigation & Satellite Radio

What Engines Come In the Fusion?

  • The base engine is a fairly weak 2.3L 4-cylinder with 160 horsepower that gets up to 23 MPG combined.
  • An available upgrade is the more powerful 3.0L V6, which makes 221 horsepower while getting up to 21 MPG combined. Performance is below average, taking 8 seconds to go 0-60 MPH.

What Colors Does the Fusion Come In?

How Big Is the Fusion?

The 2007 Ford Fusion is similar in size to other midsize sedans including the Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata. Passenger room is better than a lot of rivals with enough legroom in the backseats to comfortably fit taller adults.

Cargo space is average for a sedan with a 15.8 cubic foot trunk, which will fit 3 to 4 suitcases.

VehicleHistory Image

How Does the Fusion Compare to the Competition?

The Chevy Malibu is a popular competitor that’s about $500 cheaper. Where the Malibu stands out is with a more powerful engine, but everything else is better on the Fusion. We recommend the Fusion since it’s a more reliable choice long-term.

The Honda Accord is another rival that is in the same price range. Reliability ratings are better on the Accord, but the Fusion has more room for passengers. We recommend the Accord since they’re a better choice on the used market with lower ownership costs.

Do Owners Recommend the Ford Fusion?

accountCircle Debby B

Yes. It has a smooth ride and comfortable seats. I like the sporty design. I get approximately 24 mpg.

accountCircle C A

Yes, it's ok. It's an older car but it's still in nice condition and drives well. I think ford makes good cars.

accountCircle Toni W

Yes the ford fusion se is an excellent car because it is great on gas and very affordable. Also, it's a nice size car for a young driver.

accountCircle Tyler B

The vehicle is very mechanically sound. It seems to have a few cosmetic issues such as a window mechanism falling and issues with door pins.

accountCircle Mandi J

Mine has the heated seats and I absolutely love it. The only thing I dislike about the ford brand is that the air conditioner stops working on year 10. This is my third one and that has been consistent. It still drives great I just have the oil and tires changed and fuel in the tank. It is a very reliable and dependable vehicle.

accountCircle Maria H

It’s the most dependable car I've ever had. Still riding strong with over 200,000 miles. And I have an invested too much money in it because nothing ever breaks

accountCircle Phil T

Yes it is a great vehicle. It's great for the family. The fusion drives smooth and is fast and reliable

accountCircle Austin K

Yes. It drives smoothly and is sporty looking. The color is black so it shows dirt well. I have leather seats and they are nice but I would prefer fabric seats because the leather seats are hot in the summer. I have had great performance and dependability from this Fusion. I wish it would get better gas mileage. I do not have any regrets with buying this Ford Fusion.

Good car with high miles okay for someone looking for a reliable car for 2 years.
The vehicle needs breaks a lot and takes a lot of gas. The driver side headlight goes out every few months. The car has rust on the hood and on the back of the car by the tires. The car's take off power is too slow and the air conditioning does not work well.

Great Car and Great gas mileage
We have had this car for over 5 years now. It has always been dependable and very good on gas. I would recommend this for a family vehicle. It has power seats, power windows and power locks. One recall from Ford was issued on a piece for the airbag. It was serviced quickly and efficiently.

I really like this vehicle. It has a smooth ride and is easy to handle around curves and even in the rain. Plenty of room on the inside and comfortable seating. The only thing I am not satisfied with is the gas mileage and the passenger side air bag seems to be popping loose. I have to take it to Ford Dealership due to a recall.

It is very reliable. It has been dependable from day 1. I make sure the oil is changed when needed and take it in for an annual check on belts, etc. The only thing I do not like is that I live in Florida and it has leather seats. Since I bought it used, I had no options. Leather seats are too hot for Florida.

My Ford Fusion is a 2007, never has had any issues. Always runs perfectly and has never been in any crashes. I love my Ford Fusion. It drives great. The only problem I have had out of it is that the air conditioning system is messed up. It currently gets frozen on humid days and will not work. On less humid days, it works fine. It gets good gas mileage, about 23 miles per gallon. It is roomy for a car. And has a lot of trunk space. I have had this car for almost 2 years now, and have even been in a wreck in it and it still drives great. The only other complaint I have, and it is not a big deal, but the back glass is tilted a little awkwardly making it harder to see out of going downhills.

I bought my Fusion when it was over a decade old. It runs and feels like new. My only beef is with the Mazda five speed manual transmission-it is optimized for 55-60 miles an hour, going faster requires high revolutions and excessive fuel use. Otherwise, my Fusion is another fine Ford car.

Ford Fusion is the best car I have ever owned.
Most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Strong, great with gas mileage. Smooth driving. Maintain it and make sure to change the oil and tires rotated every 5000 miles. I take my vehicle to the dealership to maintain it. They are more reliable and will keep the records of all the service that I have done to my vehicle. I will service my car's coolant, fuel injectors and anything else to keep my car running great. Making sure that I maintain it before anything breaks. Out of all the vehicles that I have owned in my lifetime, my Ford Fusion has been the best car. I absolutely love her.

The fusion, a great car for you
It's very reliable. It has over 160,000 miles on it and it's still going. The interior has held up well. It is very comfortable and nice to have for long road trips. Taking care of it regularly will help keep it going for so long. It has had its fair share of problems but all were affordable fixes.

The Fusion is spacious, comfortable, good on gas and really reliable.
I like the comfort of the vehicle. I like that it is really good with gas mileage. I like that the trunk is large enough to store a lot of things at once. I like that my car has a CD player that has 6 slots so I can always listen to something different really easily.
