The 2017 Ford Mustang lasts around 200,000 miles with some minor vibration and paint issues reported. At $19,590 to $53,000, it’s a great value for a sports coupe, which is great on winding roads and the track.

Handling is very precise for a sports car, the interior is well-made and there are some powerful engine choices.
dislikeFilled The Bad
Passenger room is bad in the rear seats, visibility is poor with the large pillars and the suspension is very firm.

Fuel economy is very important
Love my cars power and fuel economy.only complaint is the back seat is no d of small. Also I love the color

She is an automatic but can be a six speed with the paddle shifters. She is also very low profile so drive with care.
I love the ride and styling of my mustang. I couldn't live without the NAV screen and backup cameras. No complaints so far!

That my car should be respected like it was their own
I like the sleek design of it. The way the turbo motor sounds when i am driving. I dislike that it only has two cup holders

There is no spare tire in the trunk, just a tire patch kit.
For the price I paid it should have come with Sirius/XM satellite radio & a built in Navigation program. It also does not have a moon/sun roof, which I would have preferred. Also, I would have preferred a 6 cylinder, but the 30+ mpg with a 4 cylinder is a great value.

2017 ford mustang things I like and things I do not like.
The car is an ecoboost performance vehicle. The only problem I have with this car is that the windshield wipers are not fast enough. Gas mileage is relatively good and it does not require the expensive gas. I would of preferred the convertible version but I do not like that mustangs have the sport convertible.
accountCircle Kim M
It is fast and fun to drive.
Love it. No problems a all. Love the pick up and the brake system. Get about 19 miles per gallon. Very comfortable but not a family car.

Gt premium mustang with blacked out decals.
The car features black leather seats. The car has Bluetooth radio with the option to plug in a phone or other electronic through the USB portal on the dashboard. The v8 engine gives the car great acceleration. The car also has an upgraded air intake system and exhaust.

2017 mustang gt. A great car!
Car handles well, is very reliable, sounds great, and is a blast to drive. It is easily upgradeable, a great feeling 6 speed transmission, and good power. It has been very reliable, no mechanical issues whatsoever. Only issue that I have had is the backup camera only works when it wants to.

Poor service
Purchase mustang for my son, Know he have some problems with the car. They have the car over 1-week and still waiting for parts. I'm not happy with ford. If you don't have the parts for your cars. Stop selling them.

Comfort of heated seats are great and the AC in them is perfect for Summer. The rear camera system is an incredible accessory all vehicles should have. The performance is excellent and handles very tight. Great job Ford!

All black, with black rims, I like that you can start it with a key.
It's pretty fast and the sports option is fun, just takes a little getting used to using the paddle shifters and all, it's more roomy on the inside, then it looks from the outside, just wish ford can make an ecoboost that takes off faster, and the normal headlights should be made a little brighter.

Safety ratings of the car compared to other vehicles.
Too low to the ground. I like the car. I do not like the Ford dealership that I go to.
accountCircle Cameron B
Being able to change the color of the interior lights is a fun feature.
It is a fun car to drive and very smooth although very small and can feel cramped sometimes. The gas miles per gallon is very good as long as it is not driven too extremely hard and it is always fun to put it in sport and have fun with the paddle shifters. All around a fun car especially for younger drivers.

The Ford Mustang Ecoboost model has excellent fuel economy.
The only problem that this year mustang has issues with is, digital touchscreen display. Sometime it may also have issues with Bluetooth connection from phone to vehicle. Aside from those downfalls the vehicle is very reliable efficient on fuel and performs well.
accountCircle Virginia C
My sporty mustang and its negatives.
I love the look and sportiness of the profile. But the interior is to small to carry family and friends only my husband and myself fit into it comfortably. There is also a problem to see when moving from the right lane into the left because of the post behind the front seat window and back seat window makes it difficult to see when you want to move over.

Smurf blue pony 2017 is for a young carefree single gal on the move.
This is definitely not a vehicle for pet owners, families or bad weather. Handling is good, but when the roads are wet I can slide very easily, especially on the back tires. Good on gas and also reliable. Paint seems to rust, chip and scratch very easily. Other than that, I haven't had any problems with it.

What Do Critics Say About the Ford Mustang?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2017 Ford Mustang offers much better drivability than some earlier models, with high owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Mustang at 4.3/5, enjoying the sharp handling through turns, but doesn’t like the relatively small backseat.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Mustang a 4.7/5, praising the performance for the money, but owners don’t like that it has less horsepower than some competitors.

What Common Problems Does the 2017 Ford Mustang Have?

Common problems found on the 2017 Ford Mustang include excessive vibrations, chipping paint, along with some screen display issues. Overall, these problems are relatively minor compared to other sports cars on the market from the same year, leading to lower repair bills.

Excessive vibrations are the most widespread complaint from 2017 Mustang owners, showing up at around 20,000 miles. One of the most common sources of the vibrations are worn-out motor and transmission mounts, which cost around $400 to replace. Some owners have also said that their wheels have been out of balance, leading to vibrations as well. Getting the wheels balanced usually costs under $100.

Chipping paint is another problem mentioned by Mustang owners in the first 5,000 miles. The paint on the edges of the hood and front bumper tends to chip easily when hit by rocks. Some people install paint protection film on the front end for around $1,500. The only way to fix chipped paint is by repainting the affected areas, at a cost of around $1,000 per panel.

Screen display issues have also been reported by some 2017 Mustang owners in the first 1,500 miles. The screen is known to freeze, and has to be reset to get it working properly again. There are some software updates available for the SYNC system. Most dealers will install these updates for free, while some charge around $50.

There are four recalls on the 2017 Ford Mustang, which is similar to many other sports cars on the market. The most serious mechanical recall is for an oil leak from the engine cooler hose. Ford will replace the hose on affected models for free. Other recalls include air bags, the door latch, along with the rearview camera. All of these issues Ford will also fix for free.

How Long Will the 2017 Ford Mustang Last?

A well-maintained 2017 Ford Mustang can last around 200,000 miles, which is longer than some competitors like the Dodge Challenger. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other sports cars, but more expensive than an average car, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $704 per year.

As a used 2017 Mustang reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the ignition control module for $175, fuel evaporative canister costing $500, along with the front control arms which cost $1,200.

Yes, it is reliable. I haven't experienced any problems with the car yet, it runs great and drives terrifically.

accountCircle Jonathan P

I have had no problems baring tire issues. The rear wheel drive can fishtail at times but that is on the driver not the car.

accountCircle Josh V

It is very reliable. I have no problems with my mustang. Engine runs great. All the electrical stuff works great.

accountCircle r g

Yes it is reliable it is very safe I haven't gotten into any crashes yet so I wouldn't know if it good in accidents.

accountCircle Virginia T

As I stated the 2017 ford mustang ecoboost has been no problems with it. Knock on wood. The ecoboost has been good on gas.

accountCircle Anthony W

It has run beautifully for the entire time of my ownership. Just put gas in it and do the regular maintenance and it just purrs.

accountCircle Doug B

The only problems have been with the passenger side back window when you put the top down. It doesn't close all the way when you put the top up. You have to manually close the window completely. The backup camera doesn't always work.

accountCircle Sarah L

Very reliable no problems have came up for me . Except for the fact it can be kind of uncomfortable but the air conditioning is great the engine is great everything on the inside and outside work perfect. For being a v6 that car can get up and go and I love the sound it has for just being a v6 definitely can push that car.

How Is the Technology?

Standard entertainment technology is fairly basic, offering a 4.2-inch central display screen. Optional upgrades include a larger 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 3 software, along with a more powerful stereo system.

The standard safety technology includes a rearview camera system.

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Rear parking sensors
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Forward collision warning with brake assist

Is the 2017 Ford Mustang a Good Value?

Yes, the 2017 Ford Mustang is a good value since it offers a lot of performance for the money. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $19,590 to $53,000, making it more than a Subaru BRZ or Nissan 370. When new, the price range was $25,185 to $54,845. What Engines Come In the Ford Mustang?

What Colors Does the Ford Mustang Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Ford Mustang?

The 2017 Ford Mustang is known for its performance and striking looks, but it also excels regarding comfort. The cabin of the Mustang is crafted with quality materials, creating a pleasant environment for both driver and passengers. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, designed to accommodate long rides without causing fatigue. They provide ample headroom and legroom, even for taller individuals, and are available with features like power adjustments, heating, and cooling in some trims, enhancing the comfort level further.

However, like many sports cars, the Mustang’s rear seats are somewhat more cramped, making them more suitable for shorter journeys or for smaller passengers. The ride quality is also quite good for a sports car. While it’s firm, to maintain the car’s sporting characteristics, the suspension does an impressive job of soaking up road imperfections. The cabin is well-insulated too, keeping wind and road noise to a minimum, which adds to the overall comfort during the ride.

How Much Storage Space Does the Ford Mustang Have?

The 2017 Ford Mustang, an iconic American sports car, offers more than just performance and style. It also provides a respectable amount of storage space considering its class. The trunk of the Mustang measures 13.5 cubic feet in the fastback models. Convertible models, due to the space required for the retractable roof mechanism, offer slightly less with 11.4 cubic feet.

To give a practical understanding of these numbers, 13.5 cubic feet in the fastback model is enough to comfortably accommodate two average-sized suitcases or a full set of golf clubs, with some room left for smaller items like backpacks or grocery bags. The 11.4 cubic feet of space in the convertible model is enough to fit a single large suitcase or several smaller bags.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The sixth generation of the Ford Mustang was introduced for the 2015 model year.

2015: Fully redesigned for the sixth generation with new styling, engines, and technology.

2016: New Sync 3 infotainment system, EcoBoost and GT coupes have a black roof.

2017: No changes from earlier years.

2018: Revised front and rear bumpers, V6 engine discontinued, both the four-cylinder and V8 are more powerful, adaptive suspension dampers offered.

2019: Bullitt model reintroduced, some minor feature changes in the options packages.

2020: New EcoBoost handling package offered, increased performance from EcoBoost Performance, FordPass Connect standard on all models

2021: Mach 1 model offered, EcoBoost and GT models come with Co-Pilot 360 software, Bullitt model removed from the lineup.

How Does the Ford Mustang Compare to the Competition?

The 2017 Ford Mustang is a very nice sports car that is available with a wide range of options to fit any budget, while also being reasonably reliable.

The Chevy Camaro is another 2-door sports car available for around $3,000 more. Where the Camaro stands out is with some more powerful engine options, while the Ford Mustang offers more responsive steering. We recommend the Ford Mustang, although it’s worth driving both to see which you prefer the feel of.

The Dodge Challenger is a competitor available for about $2,000 less. The cabin is larger in the Dodge Challenger, while the Ford Mustang is much more fun to drive on the track through turns. We recommend the Ford Mustang for most shoppers unless you’re just looking for outright horsepower.

Yes. It not only looks good, but it drives good as well. The interior is very comfortable. The seats hug you when you sit in them.

accountCircle Jonathan P

Yes, it is reliable and fun to drive. The only issues are the amount of gas that it uses and the lack of rear space, not a family friendly car.

accountCircle Josh V

Yes it is. Very reliable and fairly good on gas. Pretty smooth ride. Easy to work on compare to most newer cars.

accountCircle r g

Yes it is a great vehicle is fast and safe. It holds all my children and friends it is always fun to take it on a open road and go fast.

Yes enjoy driving so far so good no maintenance other than two oil changes since purchased. But have only put 8k miles on it in over a year.

accountCircle Anthony W

Very much so. Dependable and fun to drive. Fun to take the top down and drive up the coast on a sunny day.

accountCircle Madeline D

Yes, I love this car. It has been quite reliable and I have taken it to several states on trips. It has gotten great gas mileage on the highway and is a smooth ride for a sports car.

accountCircle Ayana S

Very good reliable car not good for anyone with children unless they are grown and not babies. Definitely not as spaces so if your looking at getting one it’s a bit small but not to compacted. The view and being able to see in your blindsided is so much better than a camaro to say. The exterior and interior are both equally as beautiful lots of thought put into the car

Wet/snow mode made it my daily driver through a Michigan winter.
In 3 years has not broken down but has went through 2 lower ball joints. Fun and comfortable to drive but hard to get in and out of if your back hurts. I would have liked to have parking sensors but I didn't get any extra features that are not part of the premium package. The wet/snow mode works amazing.

The reliability of a mustang.
I got this car checked out before I bought it since it was used. It reported no errors so I bought it. Since then I have only had 1 issue ever with my car and it was a cylinder 1 misfire. I replaced all 4 spark plugs and it has run perfectly fine since then. I would recommend this car to anyone who is a young adult and wants a fast car with great gas mileage. Although I have installed 'aftermarket' parts to my car, I think it looks and sounds great regardless. My favorite features are the sequential rear tail lights, premium leather seats, multi-color ambient lighting, and CarPlay. Ford is a great car model overall, I would be hard pressed to find someone who regularly takes care of their car and has any issues with it.

I have owned my mustang for almost 3 years now and couldn't be happier. My car is just the base gt with the 6 speed auto transmission and I love the reliability, ease of driving, and how comfortable and roomy the cabin is for me being a larger man at 6’5. The handling is a huge step up over all previous generations of mustang. The engine is powerful and the transmission shifts great.

Tuned mustang ecoboost with 335/390 hp/tq.
I have no problems thus far. A ford performance tune bumps up the power to a new level and keeps gas mileage at an amazing level for such a vehicle. Maintenance is simple and taken road trips across multiple states with minimal discomfort. All in all I have no complaints and hope to keep this car running smoothly for years to come.

Ford mustang gt review. I will only say that it is an amazing car. 5 out of 5.
I bought this car in February of 2017 after a wait of over 2 years. This is my 1st mustang. This car has really matured since my old '86 gt I had years ago. The only real complaint about the car is the ingress and egress for me. I am 6'4' and you have to be fairly flexible to get in and out. Once you are in through, the car fits like a glove, the shifter falling right into place, the steering wheel can be adjusted to taste and everything is very simple to use. The standard leather seats are outstanding, and after taking a 6-1/2 hour trip up to Napa from so. Cal, the seats gave my wife and I plenty of support and the heating and cooling feature is great! As for the performance... My mustang is plenty quick, but I do not drive it to be a drag racer. I wanted a true gt. The handling is more than adequate with the performance package, and the six piston brembos are superlative. There is a reason why mustangs have been around for over 50 years. Ford has obviously found a formula of performance, comfort, and style and blend it together in a fashion that other American car manufacturers try to emulate, but always come up short in one or more of these categories, missing the mark on ford's pony car and what it represents. Edmunds has requested that I update my review of my mustang gt with the performance package. Here you go. This car is a pleasure to drive and it puts a smile on my face every day. I have had the opportunity to let others drive it and they all walk away saying, 'nice drive!' Or 'this car is some serious fun!' Of course, like me, they also have a smile on their faces after they are done driving it.

2017 ford mustang gt premium.
Vehicle has been generally reliable, some repairs under warranty include valve cover gasket, intake manifold, and climate seat plug. No repairs for issues that rendered vehicle inoperable. Performs very well and consistently. Very comfortable to drive for hours. Passengers have claimed the seats are some of the most comfortable seats they’ve sat in. Great aftermarket available for modifications.

The acceleration is awesome.
The ecoboost turbocharged four-cylinder is chiefly distinguished by its superior EPA fuel economy, but it is not very refined. It lacks the smooth and consistent power delivery of its German counterparts, but it is a serviceable engine that incidentally improves handling due to its lighter weight.
accountCircle Daniel P on April 16, 2021
Overall, the car is amazing, the interior is beautiful as well as the exterior.
This car is very comfortable. You can adjust height, distance from steering wheel, and head cushion. You can also choose between steering wheel modes, such as sport, casual, and comfort. Furthermore, the interior is nice, with a few carbon fiber parts, cup holders (obviously), and a small place at the bottom of the screen. The car does have Bluetooth and aux features.

Car runs beautifully and I cannot complain. Only wish I would have gotten a higher upgrade in the car. I have had ac issues unfortunately twice while owning the vehicle. Easy fixes though, if you have warranty still available. I love that there is an endless amount of changes that you can have done to the car.

It's pretty fast and the sports option is fun, just takes a little getting used to using the paddle shifters and all, it's more roomy on the inside, then it looks from the outside, just wish ford can make an ecoboost that takes off faster, and the normal headlights should be made a little brighter.

Fast. The vehicle has a lot of get up but could go faster. I like it a lot.
Suspension is shaky. Inside seats are not comfortable headlights should be brighter. Has a lot of drag on straight away. I think overall it is a nice car but could use a lot of modifications. Wheel bearings need to be sturdier. Brakes are bogus. I think they could have tighten up the front end all around.

A wonderfully sleek, aerodynamic and inexpensive car.
The ford 2017 mustang ecoboost is a great car if you are transitioning into a coupe or a sports car, or would simply just like a sleek but inexpensive option for a sports car. Performance is great, acceleration is quick, and has a sport mode. As far as I am concerned there are not any problems and seems totally reliable. Expect to pay about $50 for a full tank on average and close to $100 for oil changes (depending where you live).

I do not drive it in the winter so no reviews on winter driving, but it does fine in the rain. The different driving modes do help out with rain driving if you want a little more control in the wet. The adaptive cruise control is a nice feature that I have on mine, makes highway driving super easy even with traffic.

Cherry red 2017 ecoboost convertible ford mustang.
My 2017 mustang ecoboost convertible is amazing! It has a lot more power than I thought it would, but not too much. The gas mileage is amazing, especially for a sports car! It drives so smooth, and just is a great car to have. I haven't had any problems with the car and it is everything that I wanted!

That it is great with gas.
I love the look, the sounds it makes, the looks I get from everyone around me. It is a lifestyle and I love it.

It's sporty and defines me.
I love the sporty convertible top. I dislike that it does not have apple carplay

99 percent satisfaction: why with the parking brake?!
I love everything about my mustang aside from the location of the parking brake lever. Whoever decided it should be right up against the driver's right side hip made a terrible decision. Other than that, it is a fun car to drive, gets good gas mileage, and is just the right size for me and my dog to cruise around in.

2017 mustang gt with mods.
I have driven the car approximately 30000 miles in two years with track days during that time. Even being modified, the car has not once given any issues as long as regular maintenance is kept up. The comfort is great stock and still comfortable with a 'sport' lowered suspension on it. Averaging around 20 mpg at 640+hp is a great bonus.
accountCircle Ryan M on February 23, 2021
The car is extremely reliable and fun to drive. There is a sport mode if you want to take off quickly, or you move to normal mode to save on gas mileage.
I like the body and the rims. The rims are blacked out, and the car looks very sharp. I dislike the interior. The entertainment package is very lacking, and the stereo system looks like it was pulled out of a 1979 Pinto.

Giving some extreme feedback on how my mustang has brought me a long way.
I love my mustang 2017 gt fastback. Excellent mileage and really gives me a comfortable and easy going everyday car. Whenever you need to step on it she’s there for you, I have been loving mustangs since I was younger and they really have came a long way with all the different gadgets and upgrades with these things. I high recommend for anyone looking to purchasing such a thing, it is an awesome pick and you would be definitely look forward to riding in style.

Fun, sporty car for an excellent price!
I love my mustang. It is fun to drive and the front seats are incredibly comfortable. The features are great and the price point is excellent. The back seat does not really exist, so it is best if you only tend to have one passenger. There’s a surprising amount of space in the trunk. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Magnetic grey mustang gt with purple stripes and a little grabber blue!
Only issue I have had was the hood not popping properly. My gt is amazing in all aspects! My interior is a soft cream color almost white and black, I also added the diablo tuner for extra power and borla exhaust. It has a touch screen heated and cooled seats and even dual temperature settings for driver and passenger. Will always 100% recommend getting a mustang for anyone who will ask!

Fast, shiny, sporty and comfortable.
I love my mustang gt, it is powerful and sporty and comfortable and sleek on the inside. It sounds wonderful when it drives and handles like a dream. The heated and cooled leather seats, and remote start makes cold mornings toasty. The stereo sounds amazing as well.

Ford mustang: a beauty on wheels.
My vehicle for the most part is pretty reliable. A few problems have popped out such as speakers going out and fuel vapor hose needing to be replaced but the performance is great. The seats are comfortable for about an hour but after that it begins to cause slight pain in your back. The technology is exceptional and I love it.

I prefer coupe cars than a regular 4 door sedan.
I got a v6 mustang because I was a first time buyer as far as engines go. I would have gotten a gt mustang but I wanted to get used to a smaller hsp, than start off with a much bigger hsp. I am happy with my choice, I do get a lot of compliments on this car from car enthusiasts.

The light of the mustang shines down on the floor when you open the door.
I have not experienced any problems with my vehicle the only thing that I could think of is the vision hindrance of the soft top cause it is a convertible. I love the fact that it gets good gas knowledge and has great horsepower. I like the ac and the leather seats.

At 367 HP and the value of the cost of the car, it is comparable to the V8
The discontinued V6 premium fastback manual Mustang is a great car! Super easy to drive and a great road tripping car. Not much room in the back so best for only two people. Car sits very low so it's not for your mom to be getting out of! If you have bad knees, this car is not for you!

Cold start 2017 Shelby gt350.
I have had this car since November of 2019 and have not had any issues with it at the moment. Only issue I have is the start up. You cannot start up with a cold start with the sport exhaust. It always starts out closed. So you cannot really get a good nice loud cold start.

She's dependable, sporty & fun to drive.
The mustang is a great car. It is comfortable, sporty & a pleasure to drive. I love all of the technology features too, like the rear camera & the ports I need to charge my phone. It my second convertible mustang, I would recommend it to anyone. It is very safe & reliable as well.

Great car as long as the weather is good.
I love the look and feel of the car. Perfect for a smaller driver. Has all the bells and whistles. Bluetooth, accessory screen, customizable features from interior lights to screen display. I haven't had any problems yet. The only downside which is not truly a downside because you should know and expect this if you are looking at this type of car... It is not for winter or other bad weather. You will not get around in ice or snow and will be prone to sliding/spinning in wet weather.

Best performance in my life till now.
The top tier of ford's latest mustang comes saddled with a 5.0-liter v8 that puts out 435 horsepower and 400-pound-feet of torque. All this grunt is sent to the back wheels by way of a six-speed SelectShift automatic, or six-speed manual. For this journey, my pony had a proper stick shift.

It goes really fast, easily.
Well, the pros are that it does not take too much for this particular vehicle to get up really fast, plenty of air vents and gets you where you need to be. The cons for me, at least, is that I find it gives majority of my family back problems, being that the seats are very low. There is not much room, so this would not be ideal for a road trip, or if you are raising children. It only has 2 cup holders, if you do decide to put someone in the back, you always have to move the seats, it takes a lot of gas, it is not that big even for the passenger or driver's side, not much leg room.. Genuinely do not even know who this car was made for? I think it is a race car, but still 6/10. At least it has Bluetooth.

Best vehicle ever! Mustang gt wants to be on the road!
My 2017 mustang gt premium is black and loaded with lots of options. It is by far the best drivable gorgeous car I have ever owned. It handles curves and the road safely but in a way that makes you want to take a lot of road trips. The seats are super comfortable and the interior is beautiful. Better yet the sound system is really good. Crank it up on a road trip! The mustang makes any drive short or long an amazing part of your day. No regrets on getting this car just that I didn't get it sooner.

Mustang 2017 ecoboost review.
Amazing car, comfort is great! Can only fit 3-4 people though. Often backseat passengers are not as comfortable since it is a coupe. Does decent on gas as well, washing it takes effort since mine is black. Oil change is every 3-4 months or so. Have not had any problems with it thus far.

Sporty and fast car just drive it.
Great car, roush package I love to drive it. Really a drivers car. Very fast. Well designed and laid out inside feels like sitting in a cockpit. Not comfortable for back seat passengers. Mine is lowered so watch the bumps. Overall I recommend. Drive to understand.

The best parts of my 2017 mustang.
I really like this vehicle. It drives very smoothly and I have never had any problems with it. I have had this vehicle for over two years and it still drives as if it is brand new. I love the color, the outside and inside style. It's easy to clean and doesn't require much work to take care of it.

Safety ratings of the car compared to other vehicles.
Too low to the ground. I like the car. I do not like the Ford dealership that I go to.
