It is good on gas and will last you forever.
This midsize pickup has a 3. 5l 5-cylinder engine that puts out power without guzzling your gas perfect for small hauling jobs and moving day.

We do not owe anything on this vehicle and it is in good condition.
I love that it is a 4 door crew cab. Just don't like that you can't adjust the back seats, that they are only straight up and this makes them uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time.

More room to put things in truck.
Keyhole, console storage are bad and good a lot of room in truck.

I like it and it does what I expect.
Small and maneuverable.Good on gas. Handles really well.

Great truck. If my son plays his cards right, it will be his in a few years.
Comfortable leather seats that are also heated with a touch of a button. Plenty of legroom for both front and back seats. Plenty of room in the bed as well. 4 wheel drive with plenty of torque. I've had it for two years now and have not come across any problems with the motor except for normal wear and tear.

It's a good truck that has not needed more than general maintenance done to it.
It's a good size for me. It still runs very well. I can pack a lot into the truck, not just using the bed but inside the truck as well. I also LOVE having suicide type doors for the back so it's easier to get larger items into the truck.

Very comfortable 3 person truck.
Vent blower only works on 4 however it is still able to keep the cab cool. Very reliable, starts first time every time. Seats 3 people comfortably. Has dents and dings around truck and some bigger ones on the tailgate. Good engine and runs excellent. The truck color is red.

Negative Owner Reviews

Great gas mileage. 20 highway isn't bad at all and it's a 5 cyl
I like it. It's not luxurious or anything and ride is a little stiff, but does the job.

Little white truck with a big attitude.
Great vehicle for college kids. Does extremely well with being beaten up by first time drivers. Can haul enough to help with minor intercity moving.

It is a safe vehicle in safe working condition.
The truck runs good and does everything I need it to do. The ride is a bit rough and bumpy but since it is not a luxury truck I guess I would expect it. My only complaint is it overheats too easily when driving over the summit. I need to turn off the air conditioner anytime I drover over the summit.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Jonathan B.

The 2006 GMC Canyon runs very smooth and has great acceleration. It is very easy to maintenance and has a strong body. It has been rear ended 3 times with barely a scratch. My Canyon has been on twelve rounds trips between California and Arkansas and still runs great.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Jonathan B.

Interior is very small making it hard to store anything without putting it in the bed of the truck. The process control module has a habit of putting the truck into reduced power mode due to corrosion build up on the fuses but is easy to clean and get it back running right.

Is The 2006 GMC Canyon A Good Car?

It is ok. Runs good but has a few quirks. Sometimes there is an issue with the starting delaying for exactly 10 minutes. Gm knows about it but will not take responsibility and do a recall for it.

How Reliable Is The 2006 GMC Canyon?

As mentioned in the previous question, the canyon has a known starting issue that gm will not take responsibility for.

Is The 2006 GMC Canyon A Good Value?

I paid 13888.00 which was a good deal. It was on one of those fish bait ads. This was about 5000 less than the original sticker price.
