Honda Odyssey-a great car for families
2014 Honda Odyssey EX
The turning radius is better than expected. The minivan can handle u-turns on 2 lane roads without having to back up. Sharp turns are felt by passengers. Getting on the freeway either is a smooth glide or a hard acceleration. The vehicle can handle both. Pick up is good for passing for the size of the vehicle. The ride is smooth. Outside noise does come in. On the freeway road noise is loud. We find ourselves turning up the music to hear it. Gas mileage is generally good. I like the real time miles per gallon information. The display inside isn't as intuitive as I would like. Sometimes I have to search a bit before finding a setting change. The seats hold car seats well and fold flat. The floor space is fine in the middle. The seats slide back a bit but it is difficult to get a legal sized box on the floor. Feels tight in the front with long legs on the passenger side. Storage in the back is great-the last row folds nearly flat. Better would be if the back seats went flat into the well. The side doors have push buttons which the kids love to use for opening and closing. I find I fit into parking spots better than expected. For example, compact spots have been wide enough, though the back does hang out. If the battery or charging system is weak, doors don't open easily due to the design of the vehicle. Tinted windows and built in shades help keep the kids cooler in the back. Rear temperatures have a separate control and fan speed. Back up and right turn cameras are very helpful. I would have no idea where the back of the vehicle was otherwise. Blind spots are tricky-helps to use the side camera for right lane changes.
