Dec 16, 2022

The 2019 Hyundai Elantra lasts around 250,000 miles with only minor high beam and thermostat issues reported. At $16,550 to $20,375, it’s a good value for a dependable small car with an upscale cabin for the money.

Interior materials are very high-quality for the money, the stereo system works well and the long 10-year warranty is great.
dislikeFilled The Bad
There’s a lot of engine noise, the suspension is firm and the rear seats have less legroom than some competitors.

Sports mode is super great on the car.
My car is pretty good. It has a sports mode on it and boy I'll tell you that car can go really fast. I have a grey Elantra Hyundai and I didn’t think I would really like the car but I actually love it. And the gas lasts a while to and to fill up the take you only need about 35 to 40 dollars and that will fill you up. One time I was on e and I wasn't paying attention and it lasted a while.

Best car I have ever had... East to drive and so many extra features!
The best car I have ever had! Drives smooth and easy. Amazing on gas mileage but it is all the bells and whistles... The sunroof, buttons on the steering wheel and the heated seats! Only in my can you use the heated seats in the am and the ac in the afternoon.

Hyundai Elantra se 2019. Great car
I love this car because it's so reliable. It's great on gas and that is something that is very important in my life. The interior is very pretty and the seats are very comfortable as well. It has Bluetooth and aux and it has the charging port for you

The simple but amazing first car!
This vehicle is amazing, it drives so smooth and has amazing safety features. It is my first car and I believe it is a great car to start off with. It has 3 driving modes consisting of normal, smart, and sport. The interior also goes really well with the car and even has a sunroof, which is my favorite.

My car is amazing and I wouldn't trade it for another car
I've never had any issues with my car, it gets me around and I am always driving. I live a few hours from where I work so I am in my car a lot. My car is comfortable for those long drives. I also absolutely love the way my car looks the design inside and out is beautiful. The amount of miles I can get for a gallon of gas is amazing.

Hyundai Elantra Car Review
Car interior is laid out really well. Back up camera is a nice bonus as my previous vehicle did not have it. Gets great gas mileage. Runs smoothly and is very quiet. Seats are comfortable and trunk size is average for a 4 door sedan. Great warranty and would recommend it to buyers.

Beautiful car without the luxury price.
I love my Elantra. It gets great gas mileage and is roomy for short trips. I purchased the pearl color and in the sunlight it is stunning. The trunk is large enough for our beach trips and the backseat is comfortable for long car rides with my son. I do not have any complaints.

I love the lane assist on my car but that's about it.
Literally had to settle with this model because if I wanted one extra feature I had to move up an entire trim level costing thousands. Not very happy with the car that I picked out due to the features that are offered and the price increase of the next tier up.

Android Auto is nice, but...
Car has under 10,000 km (6,000 miles), and already its needed a new engine. Covered under warranty, yes, but accepting that a new car needs a new engine is beyond me. While the engine has been replaced, it's still not 100% and I'm fearful of driving it. I've had several Hyundai's in the past, but this will be my last. Trading it in as soon as doing so won't financially ruin me.

Good on gas and it runs well.
It runs well so fat no problems it is really good on the gas as well. It could be a little more spacious but for the most part it's a good car. The interior and the dash setup is ok I would have liked it to be more advanced but you get what you pay for.

Daily Driver, two day a week long driver
It is a daily driver but I do enjoy it for a long ride. It is comfortable but not for long drive. It is roomy but with two children like any compact car it is not as roomy as I would like. The features are amazing as you can plug in your phone and use apple carplay or Bluetooth

What Do Critics Say About the Hyundai Elantra?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Hyundai Elantra offers excellent efficiency paired with a nice interior while also earning good owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Elantra at 4.3/5, praising the technology features, but doesn’t like the small back seats.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Elantra a 4.1/5, enjoying the very long 10-year warranty, but owners say it’s not as fun to drive as other small cars.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Have?

Common problems found on the 2019 Hyundai Elantra include high beam failures, thermostat issues, as well as the blind spot collision warning system. Overall, these problems are minor compared to other compact cars from 2019, leading to low ownership costs as well.

High beam failures are the most widespread complaint from 2019 Hyundai Elantra owners at around 20,000 miles. The shutter that covers the high beams in the headlights wears out, and has to be replaced. Many dealerships change out the headlights for free under warranty. Out of warranty, they’re around $250 per light.

Thermostat issues have also shown up on some 2019 Elantra models at around 1,500 miles. The thermostat on the coolant line simply fails, and has to be replaced. Changing out the thermostat costs around $500 if it’s outside the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty, while most dealers replace it for free if it fails.

Blind spot collision warning system issues are also mentioned by some 2019 Hyundai Elantra owners at around 15,000 miles. Owners report false positive warnings while driving. There are some calibration problems which are covered for free under warranty as well.

There’s only one recall on the 2019 Hyundai Elantra, which is fewer than other sedans. It covers improperly heat-treated piston oil rings which can allow the engine to stall. Hyundai will replace the engine on affected models for free on some models which have the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine.

How Long Will the 2019 Hyundai Elantra Last?

A well-maintained 2019 Hyundai Elantra can last around 250,000 miles, which is around 50,000 miles less than the long-lasting Toyota Corolla. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other small cars, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $390 per year.

As a used 2019 Hyundai Elantra ages, reaching 100,000 miles, owners should be prepared to replace the tire pressure monitor control module for $300, hood latch costing $150, as well as the seat heater, which costs $275.

I think it probably is, however mine has had some problems. I bought it new yet some of the electronic systems stopped working almost immediately and had to be fixed.

accountCircle mounica m

Yes it is very reliable. As it is the latest model there are no complaints. The back space for luggage is very comfortable.

accountCircle Cis L

The Elantra does not have great pick up in acceleration. It will hesitates sometimes. Not really a lot of legroom if on the taller side.

accountCircle Yesenia R

So far it is been great no issues yet. I am really good in maintaining my vehicle up to date and I use it everywhere.

accountCircle Pat H

I haven't had any problems since I bought it. No problems at all. It is dependable, runs smoothly and is very quiet.

accountCircle Sonja T

In the few months that I've had the car so far I have not had any problems with it whatsoever. I love it

How Is the Technology?

Entertainment technology is very good, offering a standard 5-inch display with Bluetooth connectivity. Optional upgrades include larger 7 or 8-inch touchscreens with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Safety technology is great for a small sedan, with a standard rearview camera. Optional advanced safety features include driver drowsiness monitoring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane change assist, as well as rear cross traffic alert.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra a Good Value?

Yes, the 2019 Hyundai Elantra is a good value since it offers an upscale interior and lower prices than most other compact cars. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $16,550 to $20,375, making it cheaper than a Honda Civic or Mazda3. When new, the price range was $17,200 to $24,400. The 2019 Hyundai Elantra is a very comfortable compact car, offered as either a four-door sedan or five-door hatchback with the GT models. Seating is very nice throughout the car with soft leather and cloth options available.

Passenger room is good in the Elantra for a car of its size, although taller adults will feel cramped in the backseats since there’s limited legroom.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The sixth generation of the Hyundai Elantra came out in 2017, and was replaced by the seventh generation in 2021.

2015: No major changes from earlier years.

2016: Value Edition model added to the lineup of models.

2017: Fully redesigned for the sixth generation with new engines, transmission, and interior.

2018: New SEL model which replaces the SE with Popular Equipment package.

2019: Minor exterior styling changes, more standard technology on all models.

2020: New automatic transmission, more safety features, dual-zone climate control standard.

2021: Redesigned for the seventh generation with new styling, technology, and engines.

How Does the Hyundai Elantra Compare to the Competition?

The Hyundai Elantra is a very good compact car since it offers a very long 10 year/100,000 mile warranty paired with a more upscale interior than many of the other budget-friendly options.

The Kia Forte is another compact car which costs around $1,000 less. Steering is more responsive in the Kia Forte, while the Hyundai Elantra offers a much nicer interior. We recommend the Hyundai Elantra since there are fewer problems reported by owners as they age.

The Hyundai Sonata is a larger car offered by Hyundai which costs $1,700 more. Passenger room is better throughout the Hyundai Sonata, while the Hyundai Elantra offers better reliability ratings for 2019. We recommend the Hyundai Elantra for 2019, yet the competition is closer in other years.

2019 Elantra review - great car.
The 2019 Elantra has been a great vehicle so far. I have had it for about a year, it is extremely comfortable. Great features including Bluetooth, touch screen GPS, and tons of extra space in the backseat/trunk. Hyundai Elantra car 2019 model.
Great gas mileage at least 30 miles per gallon. Easy to drive very quiet and easy on turning. Very inexpensive to buy less than $21,000 for a brand new car with decent trade in value. Hyundai cars never break down and has good air conditioning very cool. Very good am and FM radio with decent speakers wish they would have keep the CD player and Sirius radio but that is in the higher models.

Sports gear that is unconventionally fast and smooth.
Wide leg room, considering I have longer legs. Smooth gear change makes it feel like a sports edition - runs smoothly too. A feature I like, but can get annoying sometime: the sensor that keeps track of your lane - beeps when you are close to or on the pavement lines.
accountCircle Maria C on April 26, 2021
The sport mode is one of the things I love.
I really love that it has three modes on the car there is a sport mode which uses every part of the engine, there is also a smart mode which saves fuel when you are in that mode and there is also a normal mode which uses just the normal parts of the engine/transmission. I also like that it has carplay so you do not really need to use your phone everything is there on the screen for you to access without touching your phone.

Why the gt was a fail for Hyundai.
Everything exceeded my expectations except I think the car needs an 8 gear transmission instead of a 6 and all models should be turbocharged bring the get back and make it better than the velocitor. I think the 4 door hatchback looks better and had more functionality.

Good gas mileage and is comparable to Honda.
The Electra is a good purchase for the price. Feature where it helps you get better gas mileage. Drives well and has been very good on maintenance. It has more leg space up front than my last car which was a Honda.. I would highly recommend looking at Hyundai for your next car very happy with it.

Overall love my Hyundai Elantra.
Haven't had any problems since owning my vehicle. It has been the best for travel. It is fairly comfortable except the back middle seat. The seat has a higher raised area that irritates the shoulder blades. Fluid resistant seat interior. Does get messy if not wiped right away. Has stayed cleaner than most cars. Heat and air work great for front driver and passenger, but does not always reach to back passengers. Love the backup camera.

Never want again. Hyundai provides.
Problems: gas mileage. Performance: perfect. The new independent suspension, and turbo have really put this car into this place. It is such a fast car. It is upgradable. It is customizable. It is super reliable. I have had no issues in the 15k miles I have. The seats are comfortable and I can fit lots in the trunk. Feature vs feature, you'll not find a better deal than with Hyundai.

Lane assist keeps you feeling extra safe in the Hyundai Elantra!
The Hyundai Elantra has road assist, which will stop if it gets too close to a car and keeps you in the lanes, which adds to feeling safe. It also has a backup camera, two heated front seats, a screen for directions, and is push to start. The car is spacious and gets great gas mileage. 25$ to fill a tank and I drive around 100 miles a week just for work and only have to fill up every week and a half/two weeks. Comfortable seats and great ac.

Love how quick it picks up.
Picks up quick in speed. Sometimes jumps when car is first turned on. It is very reliable and comfortable. Good gas mileage. Can fit four people comfortably and has a large trunk. The seat warmers are nice. Sometimes the back windows get stuck down and will not go up when I have my dog in the car and has her head out the window, not sure why that is.

Hyundai Elantra: to buy or not to buy?
It gets great gas mileage and I have had no issues (mechanical) at all. The car does not go very fast but what drew me towards getting this was only the gas mileage on it. The only thing I do not like about it is that the seats are cloth but it a very smooth ride and great on many aspects.

Benefits of driving a Hyundai Elantra
I love my Hyundai Elantra. It gets about 35-40 miles per gallon of gas. It has seat warmers and remote start up. I look forward to using those features in the winter. The car is very comfortable and smooth to drive. Plenty of room in the backseat. Also the trunk is quite large for a small car.

Safe, sleek looking and dependable.
My Elantra has all the safety features that I was looking for. They added extra sheet metal to the body and auto breaking, swerve controls since the 2018 model. The exterior design is mice's than previous years and the gas mileage is higher than advertised. My only complaint would be that the seats do not have lumbar support. An airline pillow takes care of that.

Honestly, Hyundai’s are pretty good cars. The 2019 Elantra is pretty modern and you really couldn't ask more. First and foremost it handles well and the audio is pretty nice. The seats are comfortable and have a very decent adjustable range. The design is not really my taste per say but I got the car at a good price so I am fine with it.

My car is great! I wish it was as roomy as the sonata and had more USB ports and also a flip down middle armrest/cup holder. Warranty not what it appears.
Squeeks, creaks, rattles not covered under warranty. After 9 weeks at 2 different dealers, and being escalated to Corporate Consumer Affairs, Hyundai determined that their bumper-to-bumper warranty doesn't cover squeeks, creaks (like suspension), and rattles. Hyundai has a catch 22 warranty. Dealers will not confirm a complaint in writing unless Hyundai has published a fix. Hyundai wont publish a fix unless the dealer confirms the complaint in writing...see the problem here? My new Elantra developed several squeeks, creaks, and rattles over the period of 1.5 years. When I took it in to get those addressed under warranty, even after demonstrating the issues, the dealers wouldn't document the complaints, and wouldn't fix anything since there were no open Tech Service Bulletins on the complaints. Took car in 2 separate times to 1 dealer...-0- fixed after 5 week being in there, then took to a different dealer (at the 1st dealers recommendation) and has been in there for 4 weeks. Seems Hyundai won't stand behind their product. Bad taste in my mouth on this experience, plan to leave Hyundai off my list of cars to consider next time. Overall, car is decent. Great mileage, good features, overall pretty quiet, cheap price-point. Just expect sub-standard service, and sub-standard warranty coverage if you decide to get one of these.

My car is very reliable. It has great gas mileage and I haven't experienced any problems with it since buying it. The radio touch screen and CarPlay are two of my favorite features that the model comes with. It is a very sleek design, and the backseat is very comfortable and spacious.

Hyundai dependable and current.
I like my car because it does not or has not given me any problems, except needing new tires after just 1 year. I just wish it was more stylish, I love the lines on certain cars like the new Honda civic. The civic is just too pricey for me, I think my next vehicle will be an SUV.

Affordable, sleek and safe car!
If you are looking for a affordable car with all the bells and whistles, the Hyundai Elantra may be the car for you! It has apple carplay, which is my personal favorite part of the car. It is the safest car I have ever driven with sensors to keep you focused on the road.

Overall the car is a great car with vase miles.
Car is comfortable the ride is smooth the gas mileage is great. Love the backup camera the stereo is ok but the speakers are not very loud. The steering wheel makes a funny noise and returning I wish I had power seats. No really any blindspot and pretty much see around the whole car. Excellent trunk space.

Great 2019 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition
Performance is great. Haven't had any problems with the vehicle. Hyundai has wonderful warranties they offer. Car is a good size and back seat is roomy enough to fit two gets comfortably and three if you have to. The leather seats are wonderful with the seat warmers. Wish there was pocket(s) behind the front seats. Also wish there was LED headlights, speed sensing wipers, and heated steering wheel. But overall this is an awesome care for the price.

2019 Hyundai Elantra sport - 30,000 miles of ownership.
Fun turbo performance, fast shift time, amazing handling, beautiful interior, one of a kind design, amazing safety features, wasn't a fan of the stock tires, replaced mine for one with better traction, other than that a really good car. I would definitely recommend this vehicle.

My car in Rochester New York is great.
I love all the bells and whistles, heated seats, keyless unlock and start. The automatic start apt. Small but roomy. Great price. Looks sporty. Interior is beautiful, great colors. Great to drive in the winter especially the snow and ice in New York.

Vehicle review over a 1400 mile long road trip.
I haven't seen any major problems with this car. It was very reliable on my 1400 mile long road trip and had absolutely no problems. I really like the trim package I got. The radio sounds very good. The car handles decently in the snow but I wish there was more traction control.

The easiest media play through experience!
Easy Bluetooth set up, seamless transition with all media capabilities. Helpful features include driving mode button to switch from regular to sport mode. The back two seats fold down to extend room in the trunk rather than just a center console pull down. Cup holders in all doors.

Very stylish design and comfortable for a big guy!
For the money the Elantra gt is a great value! Has great pick-up and gets decent mileage! I have taken the car on long haul drives and it is comfortable! I am 6'1" I'd prefer a bigger car but this is a great value! There are built in amenities that are standard like a great entertainment console! I do wish for ac vents in the backseat.

Love the performance of my car.
I love my car. I have a backup camera that helps me so much. The radio sound is the best. The trunk is huge. I can fit so much in it. I love that I can open the gas thing on the ground in my car. There is a lot of legroom in the back seat for whoever sits back there.

Great car, great value and very reliable.
No problems, great performance and excellent gas mileage. Extremely reliable. Will probably replace this car with another hyundai. For a small car the ride is surprisingly smooth and comfortable. It would be hard to beat the warranty that hyundai provides.

Love my Elantra, the smoothness of the drive, and the sleekness of the body.
I have not had any problems that were not caused by outside factors (rear ended, flat tire). The car runs great, I love my heated seats. The trunk opens via a button on my keys, pushing the logo on the back of the car, or pulling the lever near the driver's seat.

Best car for first-time buyer.
Have had to take it in for one system update due to a recall. Has lane assist, apple CarPlay, blind spot detection, automatic braking, early collision detection, and a back up camera. Very comfortable and easy to drive. It handles well in all weather, even snow.

Good volume Good space Compact Economic
My car is really good. I definitely love it. It's really economic and the seats can go all the way back and that's really helpful to me even when the car is compact because my husband is tall. I like the sound and how you can manage where you want more volume back or front

Red, sporty, and family-secure: perfect.
It is a red, shiny, fast sport-like car. Has no problems. Drives very well and has a good engine on her. She's completely reliable and very comfortable. The kids even fall asleep in the back sometimes on trips. Speaking of, she's very good for trips and has not given out on me once. I have had to go across country for emergencies and never had one problem whilst doing so. Definitely recommend the beauty to any family wanting a pretty and safe car.

Elantras are awesome & a must have.
This is my 3rd Elantra & I plan on buying a new one in 2021. The car is great on gas mileage, I have never had one breakdown, free oil changes, and loads of extras make it a must own car. The price is a huge selling point to, it's an affordable sedan for a compact price.

The camera and that the screen has apps that I need.
Sometimes when I turn the ac smoke comes out and I have to step on the accelerator when there is not even a hill. I do like that it has great gas mileage. I can get up to 530 if I don't use the ac or accelerate that much. I like that even when it has simple features it has enough to make the car look nice.

I love the lane assist on my car but that's about it.
Literally had to settle with this model because if I wanted one extra feature I had to move up an entire trim level costing thousands. Not very happy with the car that I picked out due to the features that are offered and the price increase of the next tier up.

It is a great car to have for a starter family.
I love the extra added room in the back fire passengers to ride comfortably. The trunk has extra room & added protection. The tech specs are wonderful. The vehicle gets great gas mileage & is smooth riding. The only dislike about the car that I have got is that it sits to low to the ground.
