The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe lasts around 250,000 miles with some minor windshield and engine sensor issues. At $17,563 to $33,998, it’s a decent value for a comfortable midsize SUV with a touch of luxury.

likeFilled The Good
There are a lot of luxurious materials in the cabin, the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty is great and there’s a lot of safety technology.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The engines are weaker than other SUVs, visibility is poor with the wide pillars and the suspension is overly firm.

I love the comfort, seats are so nice, like I am sitting on a comfy sofa at home.
I love hyundai santa fe's for their safety, comfort and midsize suv features. Their price is great for all the luxury features which would cost a lot more if you would purchase another brand. Santa fe's are super comfortable, and have great lumbar support.

Love the Hyundai Santa Fe.
The Hyundai Santa Fe drives easy and is sporty. It looks sharp too. The one drawback is that you cannot get your messages thru the Bluetooth in the car. This vehicle gets like 29 mpg in town and 33 to 34 on the highway. The seats are heated in the front. The air conditioner puts out a lot. There is a front and back defroster. Back window has a wiper blade.

Review of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe.
It is a very comfortable SUV. Smooth ride, heated seats, all of the safety features for parking and lane changing. Good on gas as well. Although it is an SUV it drives and rides like a sedan. Will keep this one as long as I can and I highly recommend it.

Feels larger than my old Santa Fe.
Just got this vehicle so I am not yet familiar with all the features but it is equipped with window curtain airbags, front and side airbags front and back seat. Also has all the latest technology.

Hyundai Santa Fe a family vehicle for all.
None so far. We love our Santa Fe. We especially love the ability to schedule maintain work through the blue link button. Plus a panoramic sunroof is amazing at night. With high safety ratings it makes us feel safe driving down the road with our family aboard. We would highly recommend to anyone looking to buy.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe limited - a great SUV that is second to none.
The panoramic sunroof is awesome. The infotainment is easy to use and the air conditioning system is great. The automatic shut off is annoying since you have to turn it off everytime you turn the vehicle on. The automatic gate is very helpful, specifically if your hand are full of groceries. The seats are very comfortable. The engine is adequate and the gas mileage is good for this kind of vehicle.

Reliable car for a reasonable price.
It is a great car with plenty of room for storage and cargo as well as putting passengers and family in the back seat. Good gas mileage and comfortable to drive and ride in as well. Not very many bells and whistles on the standard edition but overall a good buy. The reclining seats in the back is especially nice for longer trips.

Potentially fatal engine defect (otherwise, great!)
PSA: learn about the GDI Theta II engine manufacturing defect ASAP and get the engine monitoring software service campaign done. Now that that's out of the way, I feel comfortable driving the car with my family knowing that the engine is being constantly monitored for unusual vibrations caused by the possible crankshaft defect which might lead to fires while driving. I was disappointed that I had to find out about this on my own after a lengthy search and that the 'service campaign' doesn't show up as a 'recall' by the NHSTA. Anyway, if you or a loved one owns a Kia or Hyunda, check if you have a GDI Theta II engine and get this checked out.

Transmission problems
I have a 2019 Santa Fe, 10,000 miles. The transmission is jumpy especially at start up and for a few miles. It has turbocharged engine and at 1500 rpm's it sounds like a diesel. Vibration problems. It has been to 4 dealerships and they don'r know what it is. Does anyone else have these problems, I might have stuck with a 6 cylinder. This has to be the worst transmission that I have ever driven and I got my license in 1965.

Good vehicle with 1 annoying feature, a loud ding every 66 sec for an hour
It has a ding & warning: “Battery Discharge Warning. Please use system with engine running.” I have been working with my dealer and consumers affairs for 4 months. There answer that is the way its design, live with it. I also have a 2014 Sonata that I have spent 1 to 4 times per week sitting i& listing to the radio. I still have a 2014 Sonata that I did the same thing for 4 years with out any problem. I have told Hyundai that we will not buy a Hyundai or Kia if they dont fix the Ding problem

Good car but inconvenient for family use. Only two key fobs may be owned and used at one time. More than two are not abled to be used. "Rain sensing" wipers do not sense small amounts of rain and are adjustable for smaller amounts of rain. Front wipers are recessed and difficult to clear of ice. Also, the procedure to make wipers accessible for replavement

Great safety features, not the most luxurious ride.
It has many great safety features, including sensors for changing lanes and staying in one's lane. I would let my teen drive it. The ride is not the smoothest, and there are not many luxury features. The front grill is too big for my taste. I find it unattractive.

Beautiful vehicle but twice now the remote stopped working, once for my wife and once for me. We couldn’t unlock, lock the door. None of the functions on the remote would work. It was totally unresponsive. Fortunately I was able to use the BlueLink to unlock the door and then the vehicle started once I was inside. This would have been serious if I didn’t have a phone signal.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. The vehicle is uncomfortable but safe.
It is sluggish and you hear a lot of road noise. The seats are uncomfortable. The vehicle has a lot of safety features and handles goon in the snow. It also has a good amount of cargo room. I like some of the safety features. The high beams automatically turn on and off.

What Do Critics Say About the Hyundai Santa Fe?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is a decent bargain for all the features you get, and gets average owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Santa Fe at 4.4/5, praising the high-quality interior materials, but doesn’t like the road noise.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Santa Fe a 4.6/5, enjoying the standard safety features, but owners don’t like the weaker engines for an SUV of its size.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Have?

Common problems found on the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe include water leaks from the windshield, the engine stalling while driving, as well as excessive battery drain. Overall, these problems are slightly worse than some other midsize SUVs on the market, with some slightly higher repair costs.

Water leaks from the windshield are the most widespread complaint from owners in the first 3,000 miles. Water leaks simply when the seals are improperly installed on the window. Most of the time this happens early in ownership and is covered by the warranty for free. If your Santa Fe is out of warranty, then reinstalling the windshield is around $200.

The engine stalling while driving is another issue brought up by Santa Fe owners at around 5,000 miles. Usually the problem is caused by a sensor issue on the engine, which results in it stalling. Usually restarting the car fixes it, although if you have a check engine light after it stalls you should use an OBD-II scan tool to read the code and determine the source of the fault. Replacing sensors can cost $30 to $150, depending on the issue.

Excessive battery drain has also been found on some 2019 Santa Fe models at around 20,000 miles. The Santa Fe has a lot of electrical accessories in it, which sometimes draw power while the SUV is off. Diagnosing the source of the battery drain is about $150, while fixing the problem can range from $20 to $200.

There’s only one recall on the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, which is fewer than other SUVs. The recall covers bolts damaging the side curtain airbags. Hyundai will install protective covers on the installation bolts free of charge on affected models.

How Long Will the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Last?

A well-maintained 2019 can last around 250,000 miles, which is around 50,000 miles less than the top-rated Toyota Highlander. Regular annual maintenance costs are lower than some other midsize SUVs at $340 per year, according to data provided by Repair Pal.

As a used 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the A/C evaporator for $900, heater hose costing $375, as well as the backup warning sensor which costs $400.

How Does the Hyundai Santa Fe Compare to the Competition?

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is a nice choice compared to other midsize SUVs on the market since it offers decent luxury features, although there are a few more issues than some competitors.

The Hyundai Tucson is a smaller SUV offered by Hyundai which is available for around $1,000 less. Where the Tucson stands out is with more responsive steering, while the Hyundai Santa Fe has more passenger room. We recommend the Hyundai Santa Fe since the extra space is worth the money.

The Toyota Highlander is another competitor, which is over $5,000 more. Reliability ratings are higher on the Toyota Highlander, while the Hyundai Santa Fe has a more upscale interior for the cost. We recommend the Toyota Highlander on the used market since it’s more affordable to own long-term, although both are decent midsize SUVs.

It is the best vehicle I have owned. I had a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe sport that I really liked but there were so many safety improvements in the 2019 that we decided to trade in the 2014. We selected the overdrive option and that has made a big difference in performance.

Great it is the third Santa Fe I have bought new. The first 2 were driven for over 90,000 miles without a single problem other than normal expendable items like brakes, tires, oil and light bulbs.

accountCircle Jennifer S

Excellent! It has a lot of safety features (lane alert, back-up warn when vehicles are approaching your path, low tire alert, etc.) As well as a lot of comfort features -- lumbar adjustable as well as seat angle & height. Both front & rear passengers are comfortable. Also, there is a lot of room for items when driving on vacation without the car seeming overloaded. It handles like a dream, both on dry pavement & in rainy conditions.

Hyundai Santa Fe: amazing family car.
I love my Hyundai Santa Fe! We’ve had no issues with the vehicle at all. There was one time that the sensors for the vehicle stopped working but Hyundai quickly fixed the issue within days. We have driven the car all over the place! We’re from Arizona and we took a road trip to Florida and then to California. The car rides smoothly and safely. We’ve driven the vehicle through multiple types of terrain and the vehicle drove extremely smoothly. We love all the features that come with the car. For example, we love the keep-lane assist. It helps you stay in lane and if you begin to drift off it alerts you to take a break. It's perfect for long road trips. I also love how comfortable the seats are. The seats being stain proof is another huge factor as to why we love this car. It's a must when you have children and dogs. We are able to fit two big convertible car seats, one facing forward and another facing the rear. We can also fit our two Siberian huskies in our trunk. The car is very spacious for the average sized family. We definitely recommend.

Comfort, safety, and space!
I love that my car has heated seats in the winter; they work quickly and do not get too hot. I love the automatic cruise control, blind spot monitor, and lane assist; they all make me feel much safer when I am driving, especially at night. I also appreciate all of the storage space in the back. The back seat fold all the way flat, and I am able to take all of my christmas decorations to the storage unit in one trip! Another great feature are the buttons in the trunk that make the back seat go down so that you do not have to walk to both sides of the care to put the seats down if you need to load something big into the back.

Hyundai Santa Fe overall review.
Overall the car is really great. It has the option to turn on/off the lane assist which is a nice feature. The automatic engine turning off helps to save on gas used. I like that it comes with the auto braking feature which is where if another car was to stop suddenly in front of you, the car would automatically brake to help you avoid a potential crash. The interior of the car has held up well so far and I am thankful for how responsive the wheel and brakes are. It makes me feel like I truly get to control the car and my safety.

Also there is a feature like a hybrid where the engine goes into idle when the car is stopped and that feature enables every time you turn the car on and off. I would love to always have it off. Other than that I love the car.

Spacious sun/moonroof on the Hyundai Santa Fe.
We really enjoy our Santa Fe. The car has plenty of space for our family, without feeling like I am driving a huge tank. The entertainment and navigation system is great with the really convenient heads up display feature. The sun/moonroof is very large, and we love letting the sunshine in.

Great vehicle great ride! I love the look of the car as well!
I love my Hyundai Santa Fe limited. It has all leather seats, full moon roof, and it is a spectacular ride. I would buy another Hyundai vehicle anytime. This is my second and probably not my last! The process to buy was easy and quick. I enjoyed the experience.

Great technological features.
Pros: very spacious in the front and middle rows. Love the connect ability with both android and apple devices and that it can be controlled on the steering wheel. Cons: there is no easy way to get into the third row seats. I got the vehicle because my husband and I were having our second child and wanted more space and extra seating. Our third child is as born a few months ago and with two car seats it is impossible for my son to get in the third row and with no tethers, car seats cannot be the placed back there safely.

Amazing and reliable, safe.
Super reliable, car has great fuel economy, vehicle is roomy enough for a family and dogs. Vehicle is great in inclement weather. Hyundai provides a reasonable price for their vehicles. I would without question recommend this vehicle. To anyone who needs a vehicle for a family.

The Santa Fe: the car to get.
We have not had so many problems. Very comfortable. Drivers easily. The steering wheel is light, not heavy- making it easy to drive. However, we need to get gas pretty often. Overall, it is a great car and I recommend it. Our car got a little damaged from the hail.

One detail that I enjoy is how the back seats can fully to create more space.
There has not been issues with the car. I would have to say if you are using this travel to work there will be a lot of wear and tear quite quickly. The vehicle will also put in a lot of miles and it honestly is constructed to be a work car. If you are on the field worker, do not choose this vehicle for work.

Enjoy the drive in comfort and style.
I love the comfort features and safety features. I feel safe driving on the freeways and there’s plenty of room for most of my errands. And when I am carrying heavy bags I love the mat the back hatch open automatically. I enjoy the moon roof features for my casual drives and the sound system is good and provides plenty of options to listen to the music how you want to experience it.

Hyundai Santa Fe 2019 del plus. Great value for your money. Love this car!
Great vehicle. No problems. Handles well in snow. Very spacious. Back seat room is great. Holds a lot of cargo. Comfortable front seats. Would take a long trip in this vehicle. The instruments are very easy to use. Love the backup camera and safety features.

Reliable but questionable safety features.
Reliable. The safety measures can be distracting. I do not like how the steering wheel jerks around to keep the car in the lanes. The worst feature is the gas saving feature. The car shuts off each time the vehicle stops. This can be disabled but you have to manually disable it each time you start the vehicle.

A great SUV for the price!
The look is awesome... The insides are roomy, comfortable. Drives real nice. . Favorite feature is driver assist. Not really liking how it automatically turns off at stop signs. This is an economy feature. Getting about 23-24 mpg. Wish the navigation could be turned off when not needed.

The most comfortable car I had.
The vehicle has an amazing performance on snow/rain. I drive two hours everyday to work and the vehicle is really comfortable. I am single with no children but the size of the vehicle still pretty good for one person or a whole family. My friend loves to drive with me for the extra space. It is really complete and economic.

Way better than a minivan.
The Santa Fe is like a cool minivan. It has all the pros but none of the cons. The Santa Fe is reliable and fun to drive while getting good gas mileage. The legroom is amazing and there is storage for everything. We love having all the bells and whistles including all the cameras. The moon roof is huge.

2019 overall refinement over my 2011 Santa Fe.
Love my 2019 after driving both turbo and non turbo I bought the 2.0t runs and shifts much smooth plus has the reserve power when needed. I was a prior owner of a 2011 Santa Fe v6 with 138k on the odometer the 2019 is basically the same with a host of refinements not the mention all of the new electronic driving aids of which I love the smart cruise control which monitors your distance of car ahead and maintains a safe speed on distance between vehicles.

Review on the car breaks.
My vehicle barely ever has any mechanical problems, the car works perfectly fine. Although I must say, when you press the brake just lightly the car comes to a complete stop, which is kind of on not my style since I like pressing the break all the way down.

I love the color and the outside of it in general. It's very sporty for a mom car.
I love my Santa Fe. It is comfortable, stylish, and will get up and go if needed. It has enough storage space for my little family. You cannot beat the price for the selections of trim compared to other vehicle brands. It didn't hurt the pocket to buy and it's perfect for us.

Great starter vehicle for a family.
Very reliable car. Haven't had any problems since purchasing. May be a little light on power, but overall a great starter SUV. We bought it at a great price. We love the interior and the features that link the phone to the car. Also a fantastic warranty offered by Hyundai.

Hyundai Santa Fe user review.
Very reliable. Did have a problem with a sensor wire which kept it from going over 3000 rpm. Dealer fixed it and it was covered under warranty. Gas mileage averages around 26 mpg. Very comfortable and good cargo capacity. Very smooth ride, though there is a little bit of road noise.

Spacious-Great Warranty-Reliability
The only issue I have with this model is the battery discharge warning. I can't listen to the radio unless the engine is running. It also is not great on fuel consumption. It's very spacious and handles well in all weather conditions. It's very spacious for myself, hubby and two kids.

Smooth riding SUV with great safety features on lowest trim level.
A little jerky when shifting upward at times, reasonably smooth ride, has not had any major issues, base model has lots of safety features, a little bulky, base model does not have a much power, large trunk space but no cargo cover standard, no trunk organizer.

Great car for a family or a grandma!
Smooth ride! Very dependable. The Santa Fe is great for trips because it has plenty of room. It gets great gas mileage. We have not had any problems with it. This is the second Santa Fe I have owned. We will definitely buy another one when we are ready to trade up. I love the interior!

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe- car is great- absolutely no problems.
Rides great- excellent on gas- no problems at all. Comfortable to drive- roomy with lots of storage space- I get a smooth ride, with plenty of special features- no complaints about this car at all- the monthly payment is reasonable too and I get plenty of miles.
