I love my Hyundai sonata 2019.
I really love this car! The standard model has apple play and a great Bluetooth system. I have had it for about 6 months and have enjoyed how smoothly it rides and how quick the pick-up is. The back seat is extremely roomy and everyone enjoys being in my car.
accountCircle Jason C
The Hyundai sonata limited provides comfort at a good value.
The limited edition offers both heated and cooled seats as well as a heated steering wheel making comfort a top priority for this vehicle. The ride is very smooth for a sedan in this price range, and gas mileage is average. I am quite satisfied with my Hyundai sonata.

2019 sonata sport - worth the buy!
Best car I have ever had. Very smooth ride and love the features. Heated seat and steering wheel is very important and the heat a/c is really good. I bought a care package at the time of the lease and that is a really nice gray tire that they offer. Will continue to buy Hyundai.

Quick summary of features. Great car.
The features of this car are fantastic. The parking assistance is really helpful and the cameras really clear. The information that is in the dashboard is extremely helpful with the GPS and keeping track of your speed and direction. The car inside is big and comfortable.

Great on gas great detection for changing lanes and backing up.
My Hyundai sonata is great. It has the space I need in the back trunk when I travel with my kids. It has blind spot detection and tell me if there’s a car on the side when I want to change lanes. It also tells me when there’s cars in back of me when I am backing up even pedestrians. Makes me feels safe and great on economy it has eco to save on gas. The best of all is not expensive we got a great deal on it great price and payments every month. Also connects your phone on the small screen which makes it so useful when you have to send a message or answer your phone without touching or looking at my phone. Great for GPS. Music without touching my phone. Very happy with this purchase I will for sure get and SUV with Hyundai.

It is a pretty comfortable car the 2019 sonata.
It has no problem performance, it does waste a lot of gas that is the only problem from my view. Other than that it is an amazing car. The model changed a lot from the 2019 to the 2020 like the controls the model everything it is different. It is drives smooth.

The most reliable vehicle I have had so far.
Since I bought the vehicle in November 2019 I had no problems with my vehicle. My car is very reliable it gets me where I need to go. The gas mileage is wonderful for this vehicle. My car is spacious and roomy. The features for this vehicle has a backup camera and when another vehicle gets too close alarms go off.

Great size, but some annoying features.
I personally do not like driving this car. The breaking and gas pedals are very touchy. The radio that connects to your phone always randomly turn on and it's really annoying. I really do like the size of this car and how much space it has in it. It's very roomy, especially in the back seats.

My car is a beautiful 2019 Hyundai sonata. With all black cloth interior.
My car is nice and very new and reliable but I really am mad at myself for getting another white car also I wished I had sizes up to the Santa Fe. Yet that was not what happened. I also would like to note that the sports mode to eco mode transition can be quite rocky.

Hyundai owner for one year.
The car works well, it is very reliable. The tires have not worn and I have had the car over a year. The driving assist does not always work. When someone is in my blind spot it sometimes does not alert me. The car is very low and hits curbs easily. The chairs are comfortable and the air is powerful. The radio is a little tricky to use when you are driving. If you do not have all stations as preset you cannot scan using your steering wheel.

How gas efficient is and how easy everything is to figure out.
It is slow and small. A lot of plastic everywhere. The back of the cabin does not have vents and I have to put the a/c on high for the passengers in the back can feel the a/c. The infotainment system is laggy and it doesn't have and integrated navigation.

Opinionated answers for the people of Hyundai.
Too low to the ground. Seats hurt my back. Too much money for such a little car. If I had the chance to get something nicer I would take it. To be honest it is cute but it needs minor details added and more space in the front. Although the back is spacious I believe the back needs better work.

2019 sonata, great value for the money with lots of basic standard features.
No issues, great gas mileage and comfortable on trips. Wish more standard features were available, but overall is a great value. This is my second Hyundai and I can say both vehicles met expectations and I have been quite pleased. Go for the model with the lane keep assist, works great on long trips especially if it is on a boring stretch of road.

Needs More
The Sonata Sport should have a bigger engine in it and not the same as the base model, why have a Sport if it's the same as the Base Model. Safety features are not even standard on the Sport trim, that is a very bad move on their part, when the competitors have it all standard and a bigger engine in their cars.

What Do Critics Say About the Hyundai Sonata?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Hyundai Sonata offers sharper handling and a nicer interior than before, with good owner satisfaction scores as it ages.
  • Edmunds rates the Hyundai Sonata at 4.3/5, enjoying the spacious interior for a midsize sedan, but doesn’t like the weak base engine.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the 2019 Sonata a 4.3/5, praising the available technology features, but owners don’t like the lack of all-wheel drive for snowy conditions.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Hyundai Sonata Have?

Common problems found on the 2019 Hyundai Sonata include excessive fuel consumption, a cracked oil pan, along with some alarm system issues. Overall, these problems are similar to some other midsize cars on the market, leading to average repair costs as a Sonata ages.

Excessive fuel consumption is the most widespread complaint from 2019 Sonata owners, showing up within the first 25,000 miles. Usually, the problem is caused by an oxygen sensor issue, which controls the air to fuel ratio. Replacing the sensor costs around $150, depending on local labor rates, and typically fixes the problem.

A cracked oil pan is another problem mentioned by some 2019 Sonata owners at roughly 50,000 miles. Damage to the oil pan is caused by heat cycling and being hit with stones while driving. Replacing the oil pan costs around $650.

Alarm system issues have also been reported on the 2019 Hyundai Sonata in the first 1,000 miles. The problem is caused by software issues with the alarm, which cause it to stay on even after disarming. Most dealerships will update the software for free, while others charge around $50.

There are no recalls on the 2019 Hyundai Sonata, which is better than other midsize sedans from the same year. Having no recalls simply means that there have not been any widespread issues which affect reliability or safety.

How Long Will the 2019 Hyundai Sonata Last?

A well-maintained 2019 Hyundai Sonata can last around 200,000 miles, which is shorter than the long-lasting Toyota Camry. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other sedans, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $438 per year.

As a used 2019 Sonata reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the tie rods for $200, engine oil cooler costing $375, along with the water pump, which costs around $650.

How Does the Hyundai Sonata Compare to the Competition?

The 2019 Hyundai Sonata is a nice midsize sedan, offering a nice cabin paired with decent reliability ratings as it ages, making it a good choice for shoppers.

The Hyundai Elantra is a smaller car from Hyundai which costs around $2,000 less. Steering feel is more responsive in the Hyundai Elantra, while the Hyundai Sonata has more passenger and cargo space. We recommend the Hyundai Sonata for most people since it offers better practicality for the money.

The Toyota Camry is another midsize sedan, which can be found for about $3,000 more. Long-term reliability ratings are better in the Toyota Camry, while the Hyundai Sonata offers a more upscale cabin. We recommend the Toyota Camry since it’s the longest lasting midsize car on the market.

Love the car, hate the GPS
After updating the maps on the Gen5 navi head, the navigation will do a "Route Recalculating" reset about every few minutes. It did not do this before the update. Wondering if anyone else has the same issue. Otherwise, we love the car. Loaded just the way we wanted it and is very comfortable. Seats are a bit firm but ok. Great gas mileage. Vista roof is awesome.

Hyundai sonata. Moves well once you can actually see.
I like the way my car moves, the space and the bells and whistles of the dashboard and being able to access everything from the steering wheel. What I dislike are the seats. They are not automatic and you cannot really adjust it to where it needs to be. I need a cushion so that I am able to see.

Great gas mileage! It is easy to zip around in this car. Great for parking, even in cities. Plenty of space in the trunk. It has the standard Bluetooth and aux features. Ac and heat circulate quickly. I really like that the car beeps when you use your turn signal if there is a car next to you or in your blind spot. You can get really far on one tank of gas.

Hyundai sonata - get what you pay for.
Slow pickup; transmission sticks at times. Reliable and gas efficient. Seating uncomfortable for long drives. Substantial truck space. Blis system works well and is needed due to the large blind spot area of this vehicle. Sound system is efficient and compatible for iPhone primarily.

Handy features that will be useful on a daily basis.
The car is comfortable to drive. The steering wheel can be adjusted as well as the seats. It has a sport mode. The car does very well on gas mileage. It has android audio and apple carplay. Which is very convenient on a daily basis. It also includes a backup cam and blind spot detection.

I can get from Syracuse to New York city in one full tank of gas.
Only issues are that I've had to switch out both brakes and rotors within the first year. Other than that it's decent gas mileage. Speaker system isn't too loud and bass is mild but sounds good. The sports mode option makes driving on highways easier and faster.

Great car and definitely worth it for anyone.
I haven't had any issues with my car. It is a great car & it is worth the money. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a great reliable car with great bells & whistles. I have all the extras that I’d want in a car. The handling is great too. I like this car so much.

Nice car but not perfect as far as being worry free.
My sonata tends to drag upon acceleration especially going uphill. I had my first problem with a safety light that went out on the driver's side. It cost me $68 to have it fixed so I was disappointed about the so called 'bumper to bumper' guarantee. I like the style and color but my dream car is a 2020 Toyota Camry, the two tone version. I have always liked Toyota but decided to get a Hyundai because I do not like to have to deal with car repairs and here I just had one that cost me money. So as I say I am not too happy about being not being worry free.

Best car I have ever owned.
I have no problems with it at all. It gets great mileage, drives smooth, and is a nice looking car. It is great for long drives, it is comfortable to sit in, and the apple CarPlay is a great addition. The warranty offered by Hyundai is also the best you can find.

My sonata has the best features!
I really love my sonata. I have really cool features. For example, I have a back up camera, which this comes in handy when I cannot see around a car when I am trying to back up. It is literally saved me from backing up into so many different cars. Also, on my side mirrors I have an alert that lights up whenever a car is in my blind spot so I will not hit anybody if I am trying to change lanes or make a turn. There’s also another cool feature with my car and it is called sport mode. I can click this button my console that says sport and it allows me to accelerate at a faster speed.

Great ride!! Looks sharp and have owned Hyundais for the last 12 years.
This is a great car. Handle great, looks sharp!! The turbo is great and all the bells and whistles that come with it are perfect. Great sound system and pick up. The car handles and in sport mode it can really fly. My only complaint is that I wish the warning chimes were a little louder. Some of the controls on the dash are hard to use while driving. Love the Hyundai link feature.

Great gas mileage with a smooth ride.
The Hyundai sonata rides really smooth. Road noise is pretty loud. Great average on miles. I get about 30 on highway. 24 miles in the city. Takes less than $30 to get a full tank and can last me almost 5 days. There is a lot of room in the car. Safety ratings are good due to I travel with my son often. I am pleased with my purchase of this vehicle.

2019 Hyundai sonata comfortable ride.
Very reliable car. A lot of extras included to make the ride comfortable for all ages. It is not the fastest but it gets you where you need to go quicker than some vehicles I have rode in. My children love car as well and that they have heat air options in the back.

The Sport seats give the vehicle a nice look on the inside, and they're very comfortable.
My Sonata is a great vehicle. It travels quickly, and I can get to the areas that I need to quickly. I have the Sport model, which includes: starting MSRP* 25/33/28 MPG City/Hwy/Combined* 185-hp 2.4L 4-cylinder engine Power tilt-and-slide sunroof Sport grille, front fascia and rear diffuser Sport seats, leather D-cut steering wheel and sport shift knob It's a very comfortable and lovely car, and I love it.

You can turn on and off sports mode. I customized it and love it.
It is a very nice vehicle. The functions are better than Audi, BMW, Mercedes. It's very comfortable. The energy it has is awesome. The engine changes very little. I thought I wouldn't like it but I did. It helps me in long and short run. I use it almost everyday.

It is a great powerful car that is get the job done!
This car has amazing gas mileage and power! It is the perfect size for a car and very comfortable. I love the details and the sleek look of the exterior! The Bluetooth feature is amazing as well as the hands free mode, which allows you to talk on the phone without picking it up!

Reliable and comfortable car with great gas mileage.
Great gas mileage! I travel a lot for work and this car is perfect. The car is comfortable and rides nice on the highway. The features are pretty standard to every care but I do not have any complaints yet. This car model has had a few safety recalls since 2019.

Great color, size, and very easy to use.
So reliable and easy to drive, I love it. It is bigger than a small car and has just the right amount of space. I love to drive it around because it is easy to drive and makes me feel safe. It is also very pretty and the colors are perfect. Looking forward to having this car for a very long time.

Heated seats, steering wheel, and remote start are amazing.
I just got the car a couple weeks ago and I haven't had any problems at all. The car drives superb and it has sport mode (which I use a lot) that's not too bad. It's very good on gas I filled my tank up when I got the car and haven't needed to get gas again yet and it's been two weeks.

Grey Hyundai sonata 4 door sedan. Automatic windows and locks.
This car is a smooth ride, very gas efficient and overall comfortable. It has a spacious back row seating and trunk space is plenty. Front seats are comfortable. Includes apple play and touch screen for navigation and Bluetooth enabled. Safety features include sensors when merging into another lane, backup camera and beeps when a car is near.

Definitely my game changer.
At first I will say I was hesitant in buying a Hyundai being I had never owned one prior. This car however has changed my view completely. From the sport mode to the seat warmers this car comes with many amenities and does not drain your pocket. It is great on gas, has wonderful grip on the road, is spacious & just an awesome car.
