I had my Cherokee for 22 years and 503k miles. Many can't say this about their cars. My only complaint is that I couldn't keep her another 22. Absolutely indestructible 4.0 inline six cylinder. The original "suv" never once in over two decades did it fail and in the worst weather imaginable it got me everywhere. Jeep today is in name only and frankly embarrassing to look at. I've had to opt for a 4runner to even retain1/3 of the life expectancy of the old XJ. I do miss the inline 4.0 and the torque amongst many other things. If you're able to purchase a Cherokee 2001 or older do it without hesitating.

Get in and go, very few issues with regular maint. I have been driving Cherokees since 1990. I now have 3 rolling with 4 old ones for parts. Easy to work on and more important to have fun with!
