2006 Jeep Commander is not the car to buy

2006 Jeep Commander Base

My car is very durable, and is in great condition for how old it is. Although I do enjoy this car I would not recommend it. The reason I would not recommended this car is because it gets horrible gas mileage. This car gets 12 miles to the gallon and only about 250 miles when completely full. My job is a half an hour away commute and that leaves me filling up my tank more than once a week. This costs a huge amount of money and is not worth it when there are so many fuel efficient cars in the market. Another reason I would not get this car is because the air conditioning is not reliable. In the time I have had this car the air conditioning has broken and needed to be completely replaced four times which is very costly.

Awesome mountain vehicle: our jeep commander is the go-to for co mountains.

2006 Jeep Commander Base

Our jeep commander is a great car for mountain driving, 4-wheeling and rough terrain. However, it is not great for in town 'daily driving' due to the bad gas mileage. Gas mileage averages 15 mpg. The car is reliable and comfortable. It has stadium seating which is great for large families. It fits 7 people pretty comfortably, however, if you have 7 people in the car there is very limited room for 'stuff'. The back seats fold down so you can load a lot of stuff inside for groceries, furniture, etc and even use it to camp out in. We have a custom trim and decals which is really classy and ads a fun creative touch. One negative is how boxy the exterior is. It is hard to see around when you are driving behind it.

I love my commander- best jeep ever!

2006 Jeep Commander Base

Runs great- did not need new brakes for 8 years, very solid, sturdy vehicle. Drives awesome in the snow. Only issue I have is the paint is peeling on the roof rack, but I do not have a garage, so I attribute that to being exposed to the weather constantly. It is a quiet ride, and the seats sit up nice and high so I can see the road and what is ahead of me. The sound system for the year of the car is also good and the air conditioner is like a refrigerator in the summer-so everyone stays comfortable. Also lots of leg and headroom so my passengers never feel cramped.

The jeep commander is a trusted comfortable four wheel drive

2006 Jeep Commander Base

The jeep commander is a highly trusted SUV in my opinion it has third row seating which is great for a family another reason I love this SUV is because its 4x4 and during winter time it goes right through the snow without any issues. The seats are compatible to any other jeep on the market they are comfy but could be a little more comfy for those that drive a lot. There's plenty of legroom even for the tall one in the family can sit in the third row without an issue

- Daniel W

It's very spacious inside. My Jeep has full size seats in every row.

2006 Jeep Commander Base

It's like a tiny tank. I love the phone holder on the drivers side. I like how big the back gets when you lay down the seats. You pull back the lever and they fold right down. There are not enough cup holders in the middle row. There is an armrest that folds down with two cup holders but if three people are in the back then you can't use it.

- Jamie M

It is a typical SUV. It has the Jeep Cherokee/Commander squared off body style.

2006 Jeep Commander Base

The Commander is a pretty good family vehicle. It has the Mercedes transmission in it. When we purchased it in December 2017 they had just put a used transmission in the vehicle. I then in September of 2018 had to put another one in the vehicle. There have been a couple of recalls on the vehicle as well.

They can be wonderful vehicles if you take care of them.

2006 Jeep Commander Base

It's a good family vehicle, good for everything. Gas mileage is decent Comfortable, reliable, and looks nice. I have had mine for 4 years and it's still my best vehicle I have owned. And my family loves it which is a plus the only downside about it like all vehicles things break and it's expensive

Best vehicle I've owned ever

2006 Jeep Commander Base

None. Absolutely in love. Gas mileage stinks! But that's all. Great family sized SUV! Lot of room, for lots of people! Seats 7. I have dreamt of having this vehicle for a few years and couldn't be happier! Runs absolutely beautiful. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone! Great daily driver

In summary I suppose that is why Chrysler discontinued the Jeep Commander.

2006 Jeep Commander Base

I love my jeep, however what seems like a long list of manufacturer's short cuts have cost me! Plastic gears in the transmission lead me to have it replaced before it hit 67,000 miles. Before 100,000 I had to have the top end replaced in the motor due to more plastic manufacturer's parts.

Great family truck and for single women who like SUVs

2006 Jeep Commander Base

I love the seats, I love the space in the front, it's easy to maintain and it's easy driving. My truck is very reliable I only had to get new brakes in 2 years. My truck has a TV installed and speakers and I haven't had any issues. The trunk is very big and I have moved w my truck before.

Everything about my vehicle I love couldn't ask for a better car..

2006 Jeep Commander Base

My Jeep is the best car ever. Gets me where I need to go. From the grocery store to school for my kids. Couldn't ask for a better vehicle. No problems with it at all. Plus so much room in it as well. Kids love it especially when we go on trips enough room for the dog as well

- Amanda A

Third row seating helps a ton but no leg room whatsoever.

2006 Jeep Commander Base

Bought it used for a very good price. I've had it for 2 years with no issues except the normal routine of oil changes. It has been extremely reliable. Not the smoothest ride but enjoyable. A very good vehicle if you prefer to take it 4-wheeling or things of that nature.

- Isaac P

A family jeep is perfect.

2006 Jeep Commander Base

I love my vehicle. Good ride. I just wish that it had a little bit more space as my kids are getting older and getting much taller and need more space. But other than that my vehicle has done very well for me. We are a jeep family so it suited us well.
