Reliable, dependable, newer than past cars
Roomy, good gas mileage, hard to view cars in the lanes on either side (thereby forcing me to take an extra look and be sure no one is there), elevated off of ground, sturdy,

The original tires s**k! Change them immediately! :)
This vehicle only has one flaw that I know of and that is a break sensor that goes out. This is a cheap $10-20 fix. Other than that the slap stick and 4wd on the fly change over is just awesome!

Nice size SUV. Easy to drive in the winter. Good on gas
Great car. Easy to drive. Good in the winter. Love the model
accountCircle Diane S
It is a four cylinder and is fuel efficient.
It is fuel efficient and drives smoothly. It is easy to get in and out of and is a comfortable ride. I have nice space in the back and there is leg room in the back seats.

That I love my Jeep compass.
I love the color blue. I hate sometimes when it doesn't do what it suppose to complaint is need a new one.

The compass has an auto-shifter.
It is reliable for highway driving. The compass has enough space to hold everything that I need to take with me. The thing I dislike about it is the headlights are too bright even when dimmed.

4 wheel drive is a very important feature for the area i live
I love my jeep. It is a great size for two people and a dog!

2nd Jeep and plan to get another after this one.
Electrical wires have stopped working for one window, but beyond that it is a great car. Great gas mileage and will the right up keep, it runs smooth and silent. I would recommend this car to anyone. It is my 2nd Jeep and I plan to get another Jeep after this one.

There are not any. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.
My jeep does not shift . Correctly. It is stuck in 4wd. Going from park to drive it sometimes takes at least 5 seconds to shift into gear. Sometimes while driving it shuts off but cranks right back up. When in idol at red lights it tries to shut off and I have to shift into neutral.

A tin can wrapped in plastic trim, engine sounds like it has Chipmunks in it.
Cheaply made interior and trim is plastic, brake pads have to be replaced often not due to driver using excessively, motor sounds awful even though there's no repairs that need to be done. Trim is gray where it should be black due to cheap material. I hate it but I'm stuck with it.
accountCircle Diana R
It is small inside, it feels like its high centered it feels like if you take a corner to fast that you will turn over.
It does not get the great gas mileage that I was hoping for.

Must have your keys at all time.
I love that it is a good family car. I really do not like that there is always something wrong with the wheel speed sensor.
accountCircle dave l
The car is very reliable, I've had no serious issues.
I've always liked the brand jeep. The only thing I dislike about the vehicle is it's not very roomy.

New tires, brakes and oil change new.
Oil change light is on, tire says it low makes a noise when backing up. Torn driver seat. Sticker on back window.

Jeep Wranglers non adventurous brother
The Jeep Compass overall is a and part of the Jeep family but far from a actually Jeep Vehicle. It under performs with the 2.4l V4 model, while getting close to 23 miles on the highway and around 19 In the city. But having a 12 gallon tank, it doesn't cost much to fill up. It is not the smoothest ride, and has decent cargo space in back. Overall it has been a good vehicle. But I give it a C in the Family of Jeeps.

Gets me where I need to go!
It is been a really dependable vehicle. I did have to replace the transmission only 2 years after having it, but I believe they've fixed that problem. It is been on several road trips and held up well. Now that it is older, more things are coming up here and there, but it still gets me where I need to go!

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Diane S.

My jeep compass is comfortable riding on rough roads. It is a smooth ride all around. Getting in and out of the vehicle is easy. I originally purchased this vehicle to make it easy for my elderly mother to get in and out of it for her doctor visits, etc. It is the perfect height, not too high off the road, but not too low.

likeFilled Lynette K.

It is comfortable. It is fairly easy to get in and out of. Even though it is only a 4 cylinder, it has enough get up and go for my driving situations. The gas mileage is decent. I like that there is 4 wheel drive for the snowy conditions of MN winters.

likeFilled Diane S.

This vehicle provides a smooth ride, even on rough roads. It is perfect to hold four people, including the driver. It has cup holders and comfortable seating. The rear seats lay down to provide more room if you need to put stuff in the rear.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Diane S.

There appears to be room for 3 persons in the back seat, but it is actually made only for 2 (only 2 seatbelts). There just is not enough room in the front seat for items that you may normally carry. I am having difficulty in putting up a cell phone holder without blocking my driving view. It just feels cramped in the front with a passenger.

dislikeFilled Lynette K.

It is hard to see the back end. I had an aftermarket backup camera installed. That helps in the baking process. I would like more storage that cannot be seen. It helps to have back-seat windows darkened, but I would like something more like a trunk.

dislikeFilled Diane S.

There are only two seat belts in the rear seat so you cannot have more than 3 passengers. There is not enough space in the front for personal items like your cellphone, etc. There are two beverage holders in the front seat that are too close together so the drivers arm is over it. There is not enough room in the front. My son gets in the passenger side and sits down and somehow always pulls my hair.

Is The 2009 Jeep Compass A Good Car?

Yes. It is the perfect size for moving large items but it is not too big. It is spacious and seats 5 people. It is reliable and gets the job done.
Caitlyn T.
Yes, it is good vehicle but not the best. There appears to be a new problem at every three month inspection and the car does not have a lot miles for the year it is and its kept in good shape. Good... Read More

I do not like it. The driver seat is low. It makes noise since the day I bought it, like something is in the trunk.
Peggy T.

How Reliable Is The 2009 Jeep Compass?

It is very reliable. I have only ever had a slight problem with the battery connections but it was easy to fix. Oil changed are easy as well.
Caitlyn T.
Not too reliable. It has been more problems than I thought since buying it. Abs module, wheel bearings and other items had to be replaced on the car and it only has 70k miles on it.
Denise M.
I've had this car in to be fixed more than any other car I've owned and kept. It constantly has problems with the anti-lock brake system. The check engine light is continuously on.
Jasmine A.

Is The 2009 Jeep Compass A Good Value?

As of now it costs about 4500. I think that is a decent value, maybe even a little low. I think it might even be worth more.
Caitlyn T.
Bought used. 5,200 bucks. Not a bad value at the time until had to put over 3k on it within the first year purchase. It was inspected before bought and was advised nothing was wrong with it.
Denise M.
Mine was used I'm pretty sure it was 16000 and no I don't think it was a good value. I have also spent a lot of money on having it repaired.
