Comfortable family crossover SUV.
My Compass is comfortable and easy to drive but it could get better mileage. Also, I would like it to be higher up.
accountCircle Christina C
Jeep compass is worth the buy. Practical and affordable.
I love my Jeep. I have the basic package but I have no problems with it. The gas mileage is very nice. A 4 hour trip to California from Vegas only requires 1 and a half stops. If that. It drives smooth. It feels durable. It is also safe. I have gotten in 1 car accident and it barely dented my bumper.
accountCircle R H
Very reliable car, it's a very nice family car.
Smooth drive, 4 x 4, spacious, comfortable, sunroof, powerful, looks nice, leather seats, economic, nice fog lights, air conditioning is great, you will love it in the city, highway or wild adventures, nice sound, easy to convert from 2x2 to 4x4, I love this family adventure SUV.

2011 Jeep compass comfort on the road.
The Jeep compass offers a lot of comfort with heated leather seats, XM radio, sunroof, fold down rear seats, and lots of legroom. I have had no problems with the vehicle other than the importance of maintaining proper tire alignment. Replacing tires has to be done all four at a time due to 4 wheel drive.

I am a jeep guy forever now!
My compass is the most practical, efficient, and well maintained car that I have ever owned. I feel safe hauling my family around both locally and longer distances. It runs smooth, is good on gas, and for an 8 year old car, it still has a lot of life. I am forever going to be a jeep fan going forward.

Good, reliable car, very few problems
It runs really well, and looks very nice. Some Jeep Compasses have been known to have electrical problems, and I've had a few problems with that. For example, my car's oil light will come on right after I change the oil. Other than that, I've had no problems.
accountCircle alyssa K
Space in the backseat of the car.
I have not had any problems with my car. Even though I do not typically sit in the backseat, it is quite small back there. I personally would not use it as a family car because I could see children being squished back there. Overall it is a great car that has good gas mileage.
accountCircle Angel W
Love everything about it. It is good and the perfect size for me.
Good vehicle and good gas mileage. Very good on maintenance.

Do not recommend this vehicle
Since getting this car I've had problem after problem with it. Would not recommend it. Front end issues have accrued. The electronic stability has stopped working. Radio went out a few months after getting it. Just so much money to fix it. The warranty didn't cover all the problems with it either.

Do not recommend Jeep compass
Bought my 2011 compass from dealer with 108,000 miles on it. 4 months later front tires almost fell off. Had to replace whole front subframe for $2,000 at my cost. Dealer and Jeep said I bought car as is. I will never buy another Jeep.
accountCircle Ron Nielsen
Beware of aluminum frame
I liked the colour red. Had to replace front frame under warranty. Recall notice for air bag/shoulder harness still not repaired. Have gone through 5 sets of tires over 110km. Front and rear control arms replaced.

2011 jeep compass. You'll regret it.
Underpowered, transmission had to be replaced, ball joints have been replaced twice and need to be done again, ongoing problem with heat/air conditioning system. Lousy fuel mileage even though it is only a four cylinder four wheel drive. Power windows are weak and easily freeze shut and will not open until car is very well heated to melt small amount of ice on window seals.

It's not a reliable vehicle after a few years of having it.
I like the way my car looks a little bit. It's definitely not made for my family, but for it being a compact vehicle it has a good amount of space. I have had a lot of problems with it. It seems like I have had issues every single month and have dropped a lot of money replacing parts on it and some else always happens and I don't think that it's a very reliable car and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

Safety, known problem but not recall.
Sub frame front and rear were rotted. After contacting jeep they reimbursed me 900$ for front sub frame i paid for and they paid for rear. Was rotted in half very dandgerous have it checked .but your jeep dealer should give you direction on how to proceed.it took awhile but was worth effort. Had about 140000 miles on it earlier in 2020.

It breaks down a lot and tends to leave me stranded on the side of the road.
My car seemed fine when I first purchased it, but it has broken down five times in less than six months. The transmission often overheats, and the car starts to make an odd sound and slow down. When this happens, I have to pull over to the side of the road for about half an hour to let it cool down. The car smells like it is burning when this happens. I would not recommend this car.
accountCircle Julie A
Worst purchase of my life
There are too recalls and lots of things breaking often. I just hate everything about the car and would never get another if my life depended upon it. This was a short decision and I would never make another decision to buy a jeep even if it was cheap

Comes with traction control.
It's a great little jeep not to bad on gas and only takes 20 dollars to fill up an goes 287 miles on a full tank. It's not four wheel drive but its still decent base package in it. It comes with traction control and that's really great to have an pretty simple if you got to work on it.

Has interesting handles on the back doors that some people do not see as handles.
I do not care for the jeep compass. The cargo area is a lot smaller than it seems, the blind spots are annoying, and the gas mileage is not great. The engine seems sluggish when trying to accelerate quickly. It is decent for car seats tho. Getting two kids in and out is not bad in this.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Regan C.

This vehicle has heated seats, rear wiper, the back seats fold down and make for a large trunk space suitable for moving large or many items. This vehicle has buttons on the steering wheel that control volume and radio station. There is also the option to have satellite radio and I believe you can hook your phone up for phone calls. Compared to most jeeps I have found it to have great gas mileage in city and freeway.

likeFilled Rachel L.

The exterior is aesthetically appealing. I am a fan of the look of jeeps. I admit that I purchased this car at a young age where I was a fan of the jeep brand. It is comfortable and spacious. The touch screen control for music is nice. For patrons that still own CDs, the car has a CD player which is awesome when wanting to play 'vintage' records or listen to old books on tape. I recently drove this car from California to Illinois and felt safe and secure the entire trip. A smooth cruise control made for an easy and enjoyable ride.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Regan C.

Back seats have limited space do to cup holders that cannot collapse into the center council. There are more blind spots as the windows on the side of the vehicle in the trunk area could be larger. Overall very few cons so far after owning for about a year.

dislikeFilled Rachel L.

The gas mileage is not great and requires a fill up more frequently than other cars on the market. The Bluetooth does not work in my car. It drives like a jeep. Not always smooth at lower speeds but okay on cruise for long trips and highway driving. Biggest con would most definitely be gas mileage and the lack of Bluetooth. The car is an older model so does not have backup cameras installed.

Is The 2011 Jeep Compass A Good Car?

Yes, very reliable and has had minimal issues with all of the miles I have put on it. Makes me feel safe as I drive myself and others as well.
Chelsea B.
Yes it is a good vehicle. It is consistent and has never had any major issues that stemmed from regular driving.
Jason P.
The jeep compass works extremely well. It rides smooth on the highway and the gas is not outrageous. It also fits all three of my boys comfortably in the back seat.
Ashley R.
It is an excellent vehicle! Great gas mileage and a nice interior. I also love the stereo system despite it being older, the bass keeps up with a lot of the newer cars
Vanessa C.
Yes. In the time that I have owned the vehicle, it has never had any major breakdowns or repairs needed. It is a reliable car with optional 4-wheel drive that does well in all types of weather.
Lisa M.
A great vehicle, good on gas, easy to handle and the perfect size. Perfect for a small family or a single person. A lot of trunk space and great interior design.
Mario H.
Yes, for the most part. Has some issues with the gas cap light, and it also jerks when you hit the accelerator.
Carter C.

How Reliable Is The 2011 Jeep Compass?

Yes it is reliable. It was only this year that I had some malfunctions with the engine and electric in the car.
Chelsea B.
It has not had any problems that were not caused by rough driving conditions and overuse. I have driven the care for 5 years and as long as I have taken care of regular maintenance it has run fine.
Jason P.
The only problem I have with the jeep compass is that a pipe that's supposed to leak outside toward the bottom was no longer leaking outside but inside.
Ashley R.
I have not had any issues with reliability with my jeep in the few years that I have owned it, despite being a second-hand purchase
Anna C.
My compass is very reliable and has never had any major issues. The only issue that I have experienced was an actuator going bad resulting in the heat not working.
Marissa L.
My check engine came on within months of buying it used and my car died while driving more than 5 hours but other than that I've had no other problems.
Lauren A.
Problems with the gas cap light. Replaced it and it still comes on sporadically. Also it jerks when you accelerate.
Kevin K.

Is The 2011 Jeep Compass A Good Value?

Bought the car used in 2012 for 25000. I definitely think for a reliable, well used car that this was a good value.
Chelsea B.
It was a good price as a first time buyer but has not held its value in terms of trade in value. The car has been worth the value in use.
Jason P.
Eh I think we could have made a better choice in choosing how we purchased the car. The payments are fairly high so it's paying double the value of the car essentially.
Ashley R.
When I purchased my Jeep, I paid around $11,00. Unfortunately the Kelly Blue Book value currently values the vehicle between $4-5k.
Kelsey G.
I don't specifically remember the price we paid for our compass but I felt it was very affordable and a great value.
Michelle W.
I'm not sure if the price of this vehicle but I believe the brand Jeep holds its value for years and is dependable.
John N.
I don't remember the cost, but it wasn't very expensive. It’s been a good value until recently. Gas cap light and engine jerking when switching gears...
