Editor's Overview

The 2018 Jeep Compass has style, substance and impressive technology, all wrapped in a compact SUV form with a tempting starting price around $22,000. The Compass is something of a "tweener," slotting between the subcompact Renegade and the compact Cherokee, though style-wise it resembles the Grand Cherokee flagship. In Trailhawk form it has impressive off-road ability.

What I enjoy about my 2018 Jeep compass.

I am completely obsessed with the 2018 Jeep compass. The features are outstanding. I love that it is sporty but also has so many great features. I enjoy the digital dash, touch screen, & that you can customize your dashboard. The size is very accommodating to my family of four. One thing I enjoy most is the electric parking brake. You can preset the vehicle to automatically set the parking brake when you shift into park. I also love that the I car can alert you to any issues (low tire pressure, low fuel etc. ) My model was equipped with the flat tire sealant in case of a flat. I feel very safe in this vehicle and confident knowing that if any issues arise I will know & not have to rely on a mechanics judgment or opinion.

Jeeps seems to be very good driving vehicles, dealerships knowledge is limited.

I like my Jeep compass very much. It handles very well. It is very easy to drive. The steering is easy to maneuver as well. The only drawback is the delayed engine when starting and stopping in traffic. Also I noticed chipped paint after taking my Jeep through a drive through car wash. I am going to call the dealership about that. There is also no spare tire. The warning signal light for cars coming from behind me is not working as well and I was told that this car is brand new. The dealership service does not seem to be able to answer questions over the phone. Over all the car is a good car, seems safe and handles the road well. The follow-up services should be better.

New 2018 Jeep compass latitude = happiness and style.

I have always been a fan of the newer Jeeps. I have had a few Jeep grand Cherokees, which I absolutely love and I have had a Jeep renegade, which I liked but not as much as the grand Cherokee or what I have now. I just recently bought a new 2018 Jeep compass latitude and I am in love with it. It is a little smaller than the grand Cherokee with the same look. It has the option of a sunroof/moonroof that is a must. Very cool. The interior is spacious and stylish. There is a touchscreen radio with available SiriusXM radio and navigation. It rides incredibly well and it also gets great gas mileage for a small SUV. I would highly recommend the new 2018 Jeep compass.

Nov 20, 2017
NHTSA Campaign:
17V732000
Summary:
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Compass vehicles. The passenger side air bag assembly may have inflator mounting nuts loose within the module assembly.
Consequence:
In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, unsecured inflator mounting nuts outside of the cushion assembly are potential projectiles that may strike the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag module assembly, free of charge. The recall began December 28, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T73.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."
Consequence:
An instrument cluster that is too bright, and cannot be dimmed, can reduce the driver's ability to see at night, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update IPC software, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began December 8, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T70.

Remedy:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the front lower control arms, free of charge. The recall began May 31, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U42.

Consequence:
A reduction of braking performance can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will bleed the vehicle's brake system, free of charge. The recall began September 29, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U86.
