It is really trustworthy and Reliable, great in any kind of weather.
I like the way it drives and looks. I feel safe in it. At times it feels a little too much like a bubble with some weird blind spots but I've learned how to deal with that. I like that it's roomy and comfortable even when we're hauling stuff.

Very comfortable and very dependable.
Jeep is a very dependable and sturdy vehicle. It provides high performance and can take your any through rugged terrain. For its size, it is pretty economical in terms of gas mileage and is a very smooth drive. It is also very spacious allowing for a lot of room for suitcases.

Jeep changed my mind and I am thankful for that.
First time Jeep owner, was skeptical at first but have been very impressed with the car's reliability. I will definitely purchase another one for my daughter. I have had the car for 3 years and have not had a problem with it. I bought the warranty and feel that it was a good idea but not really necessary.

My baby, my car is my love and my love is the love of my life.
My vehicle is my love and my love for my vehicle expands its horizons to a greater speed. Rather not what it was given before the lease was under control but within the additions it concluded inside. I was looking for a vehicle that would fit my personal needs and this Jeep meet those requirements that I didn't think a car would meet. Now that I have my baby I will do everything for it, even die for it.

Dependable car for person who drives 30k a year
The car has been really reliable. I just 7 years I have put on 200,000 miles as I drive a lot for work and if you keep the maintenance up it still runs like new. Have been very satisfied, and will buy again. The car has all the needed features and is a comfortable ride.

A very powerful car which makes me feel secure in the winter.
I bought this car about a year ago and it is great in the snow, the power it has is tremendous and I expect to have it for years to come. I have not had a problem until just a few weeks ago when the car hit around 105,000 miles. There seems to be a transmission leak and affects shifting when the car stops and runs again. Other than the leak the car runs smooth and has no major issues aside regular maintenance.

My amazing Jeep grand Cherokee review.
My Jeep is amazing and I love the features of the touchscreen radio to the sunroof and vehicle rides smoothly! The vehicle is very reliable and the performance is absolutely amazing and the vehicle is also good on gas perfect for fun summer road trips with friends.

I love my jeep, very dependable
I absolutely love my jeep! It's very comfortable, modern , dependable and drives so smooth and amazing. One con is that the brakes were easily and I have to push a little harder than on most modern vehicles, but I did purchase used with could be a factor to brakes. I live out in the Midwest suburbs so it gets pretty icy and snowy in the winter, but I have no worries about car trouble in the winter especially since I have such great tires on the jeep.

Scale 1-10 I give it a 4.5. Sure it’s comfortable but it drives like c**p. When I got mine it had 36,000 and already had bad seals, so when it rained it leaked into the car, not only that if your alternator pray it has a recall on it because it will cost 8000 to repair in a dealership, let alone that this beautiful disaster has lifter issues around 85,000 miles even with normal 4,000 mile oil changes. It’s not great can be good but just all together mediocre SUV. Let alone electronic problems are insane to deal with. I would’ve spent the extra money for a Toyota not this pile of hot mess

Jeep is not for me will be getting a new SUV.
It has a recall where the SUV turns off while driving can be extremely dangerous. Needs to be fix because there other models with the same problem. I will never buy another jeep again. I had to many repairs on it. Only had it for one year and 6 months and it is been in the shop more than I driven it.

Jeep grand Cherokee review.
Several issues, many recalls (alternator, visor, fuel, etc.) Additional parts are usually more expensive such as there is an additional required part for every oil change. Is comfortable Features can be expensive but does have a lot of options for features.

The color of the car is different than others
The car has many problems. Makes loud noises, runs thru gas quick. Takes forever for ac to kick in the summer and in the winter the heat barley kicks in. Not a lot of legroom only one of the radio speakers work. The other only works if the passenger side door is open. Not a lot of room in the trunk for like gas and what not
accountCircle Joe H
It has electrical problems. There car tends to. Break down
It burns through gas. It costs a lot. It has many problems
accountCircle Olivia H
I like that you can raise and lower the car.
The dashboard has wrinkled because of the sun, so it no longer looks good. The console is shredded from the heat and human use. There have been many problems with the car breaking down randomly. The car often decides that it does not want to start using either of the keys. However, I do really like the space that the car provides. It is very spacious.
accountCircle Kristin S
Small things keep breaking but overall appearance and engine performance is good.
I like the outward appearance. I dislike that small things keep breaking: lift gate 2 times, passenger side ac, push button start, turn signal.
accountCircle Cassi C
I think the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a lemon. Do not buy that year and model used.
There have been many recalls on this vehicle. There also have been many other repairs made that are not covered by a recall. Some things have been left unrepaired due to costs.

What Problems Does the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Have?

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee has more owner complaints than other midsize SUVs on the market. There are also more problems than the improved 2013 model.

Electrical problems, including totally integrated power module (TIPM) failures, are extremely common. The TIPM controls every aspect of the vehicle, and if there’s a failure then the entire unit has to be replaced. A replacement costs over $1,100, and happens around 65,000 miles.

Leather dash delamination is also a frequent problem. In hotter climates the glue on the dash fails and the leather starts to peel off the foam. Replacing the leather is the only solution, costing about $1,000 depending on local labor rates.

Fuel pump problems also happen regularly. There are three main sources of the problem including the TIPM, a relay failure, and actual fuel pump. The relay is covered in a recall. If the pump assembly fails replacement costs are about $1,000.

There are 11 recalls affecting the SUV, worse than other vehicles from 2012. The recalls include rod bearing failures, hand brake pedal, power brake assist, vanity lamps, alternator failures, fuel pump relay, brake booster shield, and the supercharger bracket. Most serious are fuel pump relay failures since they cause the engine to stall.

What are the Prices, Models & Specs?

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee is more expensive than other midsize SUVs, with a price range of $14,027 to $31,051, depending on the model and mileage. When new, the price range was $27,195 to $54,670. Depreciation is average for the class, dropping 35% in value over the first 5 years.

How Long Will the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Last?

A properly maintained 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee will last about 200,000 miles, which is average for a midsize SUV. Regular annual maintenance costs are more expensive than the competition. Repair Pal estimates them to be $734 per year.

accountCircle Courtney T

Very reliable. I maintain it regularly so I do not have issues. It has had a couple of recalls, but the issues were fixed quickly and without cost to me.

accountCircle Tim H

Yes it is reliable. Unfortunately there have been several recall notices over the years but the dealership has been up front about fixing them free of charge thankfully.

accountCircle Mariya K

Very reliable and no issues. It does have the standard service required but so does every car. I think it will last a very long time.

accountCircle Cynthia M

It is very reliable. I just do regular maintenance - change oil, new tires. There are no problems. It always passes inspection.

accountCircle John B

No, very reliable. I have had to do several oil changes, since I have put about 40,000 miles on it. I have done all 4 brakes, changed the thermostat and will be servicing the transmission (change filter, new fluid) in the near future but no ongoing problems.

accountCircle L B

It is for the most part reliable. It does feel a bit bumpy and rattles. I have had an issue with the rear suspension which was an expensive fix

accountCircle Olivia B

Yes it's been reliable so far no problems other than the general service maintenance. The information on the dash tell you when you need to service the vehicle such as low tire pressure, oil change, washer fluid, even a warning if doors are not shut properly.

accountCircle Jack C

It has been very reliable. The only problem I've encountered is the lugs nuts on the tires have stripped and rusted, making it difficult to rotate tires without having to replace one every time, and they are expensive. ($10-12 each).

What Technology & Safety Features Are Included?

Totally impressed with the exterior body as there is no rust anywhere.
One problem with a bad battery under warranty and only concerns other than routine maintenance has been a couple of recall issues, one of which has not been taken care of yet after many months since initial notice. Good performance with the 5.7l hemi engine and 6-speed transmission.

That besides all the accidents, it still functioning pretty well.
I like that there is a lot of space, especially because I have a big family. It usually doesn't cost a lot of money to fill up the tank. There is nothing I particularly dislike except for the fact that it is not my dream car.

The jeep. Nice to look at but does not run good.
It is very comfortable with leather seats and automatic doors and windows and locks. Very spacious and can put seats down in back for more space, but had to rebuild the engine and now it's never quite. There is always something making noise that needs to be fixed.

2012 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo.
Jeep grand Cherokees come with luxurious amenities, but also are practical. They have tons of cargo room with a six foot bed when the seats are laid down. Also, they perform very well in inclement weather. I have snow-rated tires, but the jeep detects when 4-wheel drive is needed and it engages. I have never slipped on ice or snow because the 4-wheel drive performs so well.

2012 jeep grand Cherokee - great reliable 4x4.
The 2012 jeep grand Cherokee is a very comfortable, stylish, but rugged 4x4 SUV. The vehicle is very reliable, and smooth driving. My only complaints are gas mileage and a constant four wheel drive status. I believe having the capability to transfer between 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive would help save on gas mileage drastically, especially on highway trips.

Good gas mileage, does require maintenance.
Overall a good experience. Good gas mileage and features like Bluetooth, satellite radio, hands free calling. I have had issues with the ecoboost and have repeatedly had to have maintenance on the engine and wiring for windows and mirrors. Would have liked a backup camera and additional safety features.

Why you should own a jeep.
I am currently on my second jeep. Before I had a 2007 black grand Cherokee. Jeep is my favorite car by far but they definitely come with some work. They are great for off-roading and having a family car at the same time. They are very comfortable and spacious on the inside. The stock speakers they come with are very good, I even put in subwoofers and it makes it that much better. Jeep is one of the most reliable cars that you could own. I do not think I will ever move to another car brand.

Smooth ride, great look. Looks great with a nice polish/wax.
Very reliable vehicle. It is a comfortable drive and I have had very minimal issues with it over the years. It does pretty well on gas since it is only a v6, is very good at keeping up speed on the highway, and has plenty of cargo space for storage. It is a very good car for a number of reasons. It is versatile, stylish and comfortable. I believe they are pretty safe cars to drive as well. The body style has not changed much since 2012 so people are quite often surprised that the car is almost 9 years old. It runs very well even with a decent amount of mileage being accrued over the years.

Back up camera. Great family car.
I purchased my car approximately two and a half years ago. I really haven't had any issues with it. I take it in for regular oil changes and maintenance. My jeep has a backup camera which has been one of my favorite features. The size of the car makes me feel safe, yet is easy to drive. It also switches to 4wd automatically, which is convenient when driving over the mountains. Gas mileage is okay. Other cars might get better gas mileage. I fill up my car 1-2 times a month. 21 gallons each fill up, give or take a gallon, and it costs around $45-60. Overall I would buy this car again in a heartbeat. Already looking forward to my next jeep purchase. Hopefully one that has a third row next time.

2012 jeep grand Cherokee positives and negatives.
My car has never had any major issues. I was also rear ended and damage was minor. Power works great for occasional towing and service and maintenance is very affordable. Sitting at 95 thousand miles now the only things that bother me is the plastic trim on the seat tends to break and the leather on the arm rest cracks. Also the chrome in the cup holders started peeling early on in my opinion.

We use our jeep for everything and she never lets us down!
The jeep Cherokee has over 130, 000 miles. It has been to Michigan, Connecticut, New Hampshire, upstate New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, dc, South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina. Several time on some states. We done only oil changes, tire rotations, brake repair, new tires and other minor things on the car since 2012. We are able to stack two 18’ kayaks and a mountain bike on the roof for weekends and vacations. The front passenger seat recline all the way back for a great sleeping position. On long rides. The performance on is great with quick take offs and awesome gas mileage on the highways. We’ve only driven jeep and will continue to do so!

It is very spacious. It rides rough. It has great gas mileage
I love the look of my vehicle. I love the space inside of my vehicle. I don't like how rough it rides

A few positives in owning a jeep grand Cherokee.
I love the aesthetic details like the leather and all of the bells and whistles but there have been a lot of recalls on it which has been annoying. I also love that it retains its value better than most vehicles and I love that it only needs an oil change every 8,000 miles.

Comfortable ride and love the backup camera and remote start.
Car had several minor incidents that had to take several trips to the garage and it also had several recalls with another set of trips to the garage. Comfortable ride nice leather and heated seats with remote start. Not great on gas. Love the backup camera and the Sirius satellite radio as well.

Amazing jeep grand Cherokee.
I love this my jeep grand Cherokee. It drives very well and also gets very good gas mileage. The seats are very comfortable and also are very adjustable. The car is very simple and easy to figure out. Before this car, I had a Hyundai. This jeep is by far better than the Hyundai.

Innovative features and overall comfortable design.
Of all the vehicles I've owned, this one is my favorite. However, I have run into transmission problems, as well as issues with the alternator. I am at 199000 miles though and it's still going strong. Jeep put in a lot of great features into the 2012 grand Cherokee. These include a terminal based battery, rear flashlight, satellite radio and Bluetooth, flex fuel. I get over 20 mpg on average.

The vehicle has excellent cargo room.
The grand Cherokee is a roomy vehicle with plenty of legroom for both front and back seat passengers. It handles most road conditions well no matter the time of the year. The different controls such as for the radio, cruise control are easy to use. I like the fact that it has dual heat and cooling zones so you can set the controls for your comfort.
