The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers four engines, so there is an option for everyone. The interior materials feel like they come from a more expensive SUV. The Uconnect infotainment system is well-reviewed.

It scores below average for reliability. Over the long term it is expensive to own. The base model feels very bare compared to the upgraded models.
checkCircleAlternativeBold The Bottom Line
A popular midsize SUV, the Grand Cherokee competitive cargo room and passenger space. It’s a good option if you want an SUV that can perform both on and off the road.

2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Quick Overview

  • The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee scores below average in overall reliability. Used, they range from $17,366 to $42,969. The most coveted model is the SRT with its larger engine.
  • There are four engine options available in the 2015 Grand Cherokee. The diesel gets the best fuel economy, and the 6.4L V8 has the most power.
  • Fuel efficiency is below average in the Grand Cherokee compared to other midsize SUVs. These have above-average interior passenger space since Jeep didn’t try to squeeze in a third row.
  • For 2015, Jeep made seven models of the Grand Cherokee. It received a 5-star crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In 2015, Jeep also added active noise cancelation to the Summit and SRT models.
  • The 2015 Grand Cherokee is a good midsize SUV, but it loses out to some of the competition in reliability. With seven different models, there is a Grand Cherokee out there to fit any shopper’s needs.

It's comfortable and accommodates all passengers well. It does use gas quickly so expensive on that aspect.
It's very Comfortable and is a Smooth ride. Also like the way it look on the outside and feels very tough. Took me a while to learn to park Because it is large full SUV and feels like I'm driving a boat. Not too great for cities bc parking is very tight

Great car. Roomy even if you are all by yourself.
This is a great car. It is very rainy inside with comfortable leather seats that can be heated in the cold weather. It has a lot of space in the rear and can carry a lot of equipment. It can also be used as a truck would be to transport things. I wished it had the side warnings when cars are two close and there is a blind spot on the front with is hard to see around.

People should know that the grand Cherokee is a very safe vehicle. It is sturdy.
I love everything about my vehicle. It is safe and secure, and easy to drive. It is also beautiful and the exact color I wanted!

Jeep grand Cherokee is an affordable luxury vehicle.
No problems, nice jeep with a lot of features, pretty good gas mileage, nice looking vehicle, leather seats, nice sound system, smooth driving, comfortable, top of the line. I have owned a jeep since the 80s, looks great inside and outside, jeeps are made to last.

Love driving this jeep grand Cherokee!
Just got this vehicle a couple days ago. Have not had it long enough to really form an opinion on it but so far have enjoyed driving it. My favorite features on the vehicle are the navigation system and remote start. It overall seems to drive really well, I have had no issues since we have purchased.

The 2015 jeep grand Cherokee is a great vehicle to own!
I purchased my vehicle used with 14k miles. The feature I love best about my. 2015 grand cherokee limited, is the look of it. I also love the large information screen, ventilated seats, power seats, heated seats, sound system, gps, panoramic sunroof, large cargo area, front and back seat room and the overall comfort of the seats. The gas mileage is average. The features I dislike about my grand cherokee is that the transmission seems to start slipping every now and then. I also had this problem on a previous jeep grand cherokee that I owned. On a 2 hour road trip I recently took, I noticed that the seal around the windshield is beginning to crack and/or come apart. There was a loud 'humming' sound, due to the air coming through the windshield. I also noticed from test driving other grand cherokees with ventilated seats, that my seats do not blow as strongly as they should. Thankfully, I have an extended warranty, so I plan on taking my vehicle in soon.

Jeep grand Cherokee ltd is worth the money you are spending!!
Problems: no major problems. We maintain regular maintenance such as: oil changes, filters, and fuel. Performance: gas mileage is fair given it is an SUV. The engine runs well, and we have had to replace no major components at 57,000 miles. Reliability: very reliable vehicle even after towing roughly 4,000 pounds which has not affected reliability. Comfort: leather seats are comfortable with plenty of space for a family of five. Usb ports in front and rear seats of vehicle along with the seats being heated. Features: the sensors and camera for parking the vehicle in reverse. The sensors when needing to switch lanes are helpful as well.

Do not recommend this vehicle, maybe I just got the ugly duckling of the bunch.
Have had numerous issues since I bought the vehicle 2 and a half years ago. Safety issue, engine stops in turns at intersection for no reason, 3 dealerships could only find that my oil needed changed. Apparently when the battery dies or needs to be changed, you have to take it to the dealership to have all the electrical stuff reset! Not only inconvenient, but they charge for the services.

My 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Transmission Nightmare
I own a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 95k miles. My transmission suddenly failed two weeks ago. I had the vehicle towed to the Jeep dealership where I purchased it from and was told they only have one qualified transmission technician 5 vehicles with similar problems in the queue in front of me. They finally inspected the transmission yesterday just to diagnose the problem and was told it needs to be replaced. The words used to describe the issue included "burnt fluid and lots of metal filings." I was also told these transmissions are on backorder with no expected delivery date so I could be waiting a month or longer for repairs. In addition, I was experiencing an engine tapping noise so I had the dealer look into that issue as well. That problem was diagnosed as requiring a rocker assembly/camshaft replacement. A quick Google search shows this to be another well-documented problem with these 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles due to some type of faulty heat tempering of key parts. Together these repairs are in the thousands of dollars, not including the cost of a rental vehicle that I will need for a month or longer. I contacted Jeep USA to see if they would offer any assistance and they flatly refused me. This is the first and last Jeep I will ever buy.

Constant issues with 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd

What Problems Does the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Have?

Jeep issued a recall for the 2015 Grand Cherokee for problems with the EGR Cooler. The cooler in diesel engines is prone to cracking, increasing fire risk. It is important to replace it for free at a dealer.

The most common problem reported with the 2015 is an issue with the A/C system. The blend door fails, which leads to the vehicle not cooling properly. A new blend door is needed to fix the problem if it does break.

Owners have also reported problems with the 2015 Grand Cherokee’s wireless control module. This is a common problem in Jeeps, and it can prevent the vehicle from starting. You will need to replace the module to get the system working properly again.

What are the Available Models?

A used 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee ranges from $17,366 to $42,969 depending on model. When the Grand Cherokee was new, it had an MSRP of $29,995 to $64,895.

  • Laredo is the base model of the Grand Cherokee and features cruise control, automatic headlights, Bluetooth, a 5-inch infotainment screen, a 6-speaker stereo system, USB port, and cloth seats.
  • The Altitude comes next and includes 20-inch black wheels, and gloss-black exterior trim accents.
  • Above the Altitude is the Limited, which has 18-inch wheels, 8-way power-adjustable seats, chrome exterior trim, and a 9-speaker stereo system.
  • Next in line is the Overland. This model features power-folding mirrors, a wooden steering wheel, and a towing package.
  • The High Altitude adds safety technology such as adaptive cruise control, and Xenon headlights to help you see better at night.
  • Summit is the most luxurious and features illuminated door-sills, 20-inch wheels, and a 19-speaker Harmon Kardon stereo system.
  • The highest performance model is the SRT. It has a V8 motor, adaptive suspension, a limited slip differential, and carbon fiber accents.

Does the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Have Good Gas Mileage?

Fuel economy is not a strong point of the Grand Cherokee. The  3.6L gasoline engine will get you a 20 mile per gallon combined rating. If you upgrade to the optional diesel engine, you can get a combined rating of 25 miles per gallon.

What Engine Options are Available?

The 6.4L V8 found in the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT makes it a great performance SUV. This can do 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest SUVs on the market.

  • The base engine is a 3.6L V6 engine that has 290 horsepower.
  • An optional 3.0L diesel V6 produces 240 horsepower.
  • Upgrading to the 5.7L V8 will get you 360 horsepower.
  • The SRT’s 6.4L V8 makes 475 horsepower.

What Color Options are Available?

How Safe is the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

For the 2015 model year, the Grand Cherokee received a 5-star crash test rating from the NHTSA. It earned 5-stars for both frontal and side impact ratings, and 4 stars in the rollover test. The optional safety technology helped improve scores.

The IIHS was more critical of the Grand Cherokee. It received a “moderate” rating for the driver-side frontal crash, and “poor” rating for the passenger side. The IIHS rated the Grand Cherokee’s technology as “advanced” for the year, better than other midsize SUVs.

How Big is the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a midsize SUV, comparable to most others in its class. It offers 36.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up, and that expands to 68.7 cubic feet with them folded down. This is enough room to fit a family of four and their luggage.

How Does the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Compare to Other SUVs?

In 2015, the Grand Cherokee ranked toward the middle of midsize SUVs based on owner reviews. One of  Jeep’s biggest competitors is the Honda Pilot. The Jeep offers more powertrain options, but the Honda scores better in overall reliability. The Honda is more focused on on-road driving, while the Jeep does well both on and off the road. Owners also report that the Jeep has better interior materials with less plastic.

The Toyota 4Runner is another competitor to the Grand Cherokee. The Toyota offers better reliability than the Jeep, but is not as comfortable. The Grand Cherokee also has a better safety rating than the 4Runner. The 4Runner is class-leading in retaining value. Ultimately, if you want an off-road oriented midsize SUV, you should check out both.

A blast to drive. With a new adventure with each sunrise.
I own the 2015 Jeep grand Cherokee and absolutely love driving this vehicle. It includes an integrated Audio system with heated seat driver/passenger and steering wheel on a digital console as well as radio, satellite, Bluetooth and sim card slot for music. Rear seating temp controls, motorized lift gate, sunroom, power mirrors and windows. Economy setting for gas mileage as well as a sport setting with manual shifting on the steering wheel. Radio, volume and cruise control on the steering wheel as well. A digital display on the dash for speed, tire pressure, oil life, transmission temp and tire pressure. Equipped with rear view camera, optional and navigation, optional. Lots of cool stuff once you are comfortable with all the options.

2015 jeep grand Cherokee limited review.
The heated and cooled seats help through the seasons, although backseat does not have that option, it would be nice for the little ones or any guests riding! The trunk is very big, I always have my stroller (medium size) back there and I am almost always able to fit groceries and other things back there! The touch screen radio has gotten stuck and needed a reset which is very easy with the manual in the vehicle or youtube tutorial. There is regular updates for the radio system that will pop up and prompt you to update it usually takes about 10-20 minutes and your car must be on and placed in park. Other than that there are no complaints about this vehicle it has been very reliable for me and my family.

Ups and downs of my 2015 jeep grand Cherokee limited.
The jeep drives like a luxury car, it handles great and the limited package comes with excellent tech bells and whistles. The design of the interior is beautiful and comfortable. I rarely have issues with it as well. On the downside it does not have carplay, my transmission had to be replaced within a year of ownership which I believe led to a recall later. I seem to burn through tires more quickly than other cars I have owned as well. Finally the depth of the back seat is too shallow. My kids are small now but I will need a bigger back seat as their legs get longer. Overall though I have enjoyed my jeep and still do at 75k miles.

Jeep grand Cherokee 2015 - not what I dreamed of.
The grand Cherokee was always one of my dreams car. The first year was perfect, then I started to have trouble with it, and the dealership could would always say it was fine. Whenever I was going at certain speed and then brake, it would pull really hard. Then, started having trouble with the front seats squeaking and with the sponge from the back seat, took it like 5 times to the dealership because of this. Then, the passengers window sometimes wont work. . . And as always the dealership says it has nothing and that it works perfectly. Really love this SUV, but, the dealership is a mess.

2015 Jeep grand Cherokee: best family vehicle you can own.
Most reliable vehicle I have ever owned! All leather interior seat comes with heated options- not to mention heated steering wheel! Special options allow each driver to set their seats, radio stations, climate control, and driving preferences into option 1 or 2 of stored settings. While driving with Bluetooth, you can hook your phones options to the dashboard giving you the complete feel of hands free driving. Messages, phone calls, emails, etc.- it all comes across the dashboard!

When I was looking for a car to buy, I wanted some form of SUV that wasn't too large. I love the grand Cherokees because they are both safe and also higher off the ground while driving, which makes me feel more comfortable. Additionally, the performance and reliability of this vehicle is very impressive for it being a registered pre-owned upon purchasing. This car is both very safe, reliable and comfortable, but also a fun car to drive.

Multiple issues with the engine, transmission, touch screen
I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I bought it used almost 2yrs ago. It had less than 100,000 miles on it. I figured I wouldn't have to worry about repairs anytime soon. So far I have replaced the rear differential @1500.00 and now need to replace #2 glow plug, thermostat and it says there is something wrong with the DEF System and the touch screen will not respond to touch.

My jeep has had zero performance problems. It is roomy, leather interior, heated front and back seats, heated steering wheel, tinted windows, great stereo system, plenty of USB ports front and back. Plus for fun in driving it has 4 wheel drive or use of paddles for control in icy and snowy weather. Total control up and down shifting right at the steering wheel with the paddles.

It does not handle well in rain and snow. The steering wheel shakes after a certain speed and that is after an alignment. I feel like all jeeps should be all wheel drive. It does not make sense to me why it is a two wheel drive. I do like my jeeps size, and is comfortable for passengers. I also like the appearance and style of my jeep. I prefer a higher tire pressure in this vehicle, because it is more responsive.
I have had few problems with my current vehicle (2015 jeep), aside from a radiator hose leak and a minor electrical problem with the braking system. The gas mileage is not great, about average for an SUV of its size, but the cost is offset by the sense of security I feel driving a 4-wheel drive SUV--especially during Midwest winters.

I love my jeep. Spacious for traveling, a lot of room in the back for moving, groceries, putting my dog in the back, multiple passengers (not crammed.) Very reliable when we drive in the snow to visit family. It has a sunroof which I love. Heated and vented seats. Auto start, backup camera, GPS, aux, even a place for a regular power cord. I have had it for 2.5 years now and no issues yet. Only “issue” is gas and the mileage, but I don't really mind. Take about $60-$70 to fill it up.

Very smooth ride. Lots of bells and whistles (which are just things that can & do go wrong). Love back up cam & that vehicle shows me tire pressure. Do not like that it's considered an SUV but it's more of size of a hatchback. Don't have any major issues yet.

Jeep grand Cherokee review - baby and 2 large dogs.
I have 100k miles and haven't had any problems. It comfortably fits me, my husband, my baby, and our two lab dogs. My only complaint is our infant car seat took up a lot of room and there wasn't much space in the passenger seat. The car has held its value well.

Luxury on wheels jeep edition.
I have not run into any issues so far with this jeep. It is stylish, luxury feeling, has a smooth ride, and is not too big but not small either. The seats are heated and cooled, the backup camera works nice, and the emergency break is nice to help slow down if you are not paying attention.

Fully loaded top of the line jeep grand Cherokee overland you must own one!
I love this vehicle. I have had no major issues with it just minor easy fix things or just regular maintenance like an oil change every 3 months. It has been very reliable for me everyday and if we go out of town. It drives amazing it is so smooth and comfortable. The heated seats in the winter and air vent seats push cold air for nice and cool seats in the summertime. I love the navigation and the car will tell if your going over the speed limit. It also has if your sitting at a red light for a while the car will turn off into idle on its own and when you push the gas again it starts right back up and drives like normal it is to help save gas. Another nice feature is that your side mirrors will blink a light at you to let you know that there is a car next to you in the right or left lane of you whichever mirror flashes which is nice especially if they are in your blind spot and your trying to switch lanes. There are many more features and upgrades too many to list you will just have to own one to see all the great things this car has to offer.

Affordable everyday driver.
I have had a lot of check engine light problems that have been related to various things. Other than that I love the vehicle. Goes great in snow and not bad gas mileage. I have owned 3 different grand Cherokees but this is my first limited edition and I love the affordability and all the extras that came with it, heated leather seats, back up camera, automatic trunk.

Great ride. Good look and wonderful ride.
Love this car. Heated seats and wheel. Glass compartment is the best. Hate the tire thing 180.00 for a stem. Drives nice on long trips. Also nice the back seats fold down which makes lots of room for things like dresser bikes and animals. Radio is also great on the steering well you can turn up and change channel.

Car overview and comfortability.
Jerks a little bitter after 5 years but other than that great. The heated steering wheel is a amazing future as well. Heated seats, and also the mode to be able to switch between different terrains. The build on the car just looks so good and clean.

I love my car, it fits me well. I love the interior and the exterior designs.
No problems. Wish I had a sunroof and heated seats. Also wish I knew more about some things and buttons because I bought it used. Most jeeps have heated seats but mic does not. Also runs out of gas quickly. Lots of room which I like. The keys do not automatically start the car which I also feel like most do.

A function, comfortable vehicle.
Overall, I really love my jeep grand Cherokee. It is really comfortable and roomy enough for my family. The backup camera is very accurate. I also really like the option of heated and vented seats, although I wish vented seats was available in the back seat as well. I do wish my model had a good place for a bike rack.

My vehicle rides smoothly and is spacious.
I always wanted a jeep grand Cherokee, but heard they could have reliability issues with the engine, etc. I am so glad I did not listen. I truly love my jeep- it is comfortable, reliable thus far, and I plan to drive it until it will not go another mile.

Very satisfied with 2015 jeep grand Cherokee.
I have had no problems with this vehicle at all. It's been extremely dependable and reliable. The fuel economy is wonderful. I would buy another one for sure. The only thing I have had to do is fill the tank change the oil. I recently put new tires on it so I intend to keep it awhile.

Spacious SUV that drives like a car.
I have had three jeep grand Cherokees. The SUV is very reliable, and up keep on them is cheap. The SUV drives like a car, and the seating is spacious and comfortable. Gas is great! With a 24 gallon tank, I can make it 400 miles on one fill up. Highly recommended vehicle.

Comfortable ride, good gas mileage, good heating and air conditioning good 4 wheel performance in slippery conditions, good radio and sound system all necessary placed in a easy to use logical place. Comfortable seats with many adjustments, front are heated and cooled, real outside passenger seats are heated. Ample storage space behind rear seats, great towing package.

Jeep latitude is a great vehicle for on the road and off the road. The year is 2015 and the only downside is that it does not have sensors. Other than that it is a great vehicle for your everyday needs and great on gas considering that it is four wheel drive.

Qualities of a jeep grand Cherokee.
I am in love with my jeep grand Cherokee. It is very spacious and is good for carrying things to and from college and my hometown. It has great gas mileage and is overall a very comfortable and reliable car to drive. I have had this car for a year now and have not had any problems at all.

2015 jeep grand Cherokee overland.
Heated front and back seats, cooling front seats, sport mode, ability to raise vehicle height depending on terrain. Very reliable in the winter driving through the snow. Heated side mirrors. Big sunroof. Tow hooks in front and back for towing both ways. Fast acceleration in sport mode, handles and maneuvers well.

My jeep grand cherokee limited review.
This vehicle is one of the most reliable vehicles I have owed so far. The sound system is awesome. So far I have not had any problems with my jeep. Performance has been great and it handles well in the snow and the rain. It is very roomy as well. The seats fold down to make room for hauling things. My jeep come with the towing package as well and has been a great asset to the vehicle as it is used quite often and does great with pulling a loaded trailer. With the auto 4 wheel drive I don't have to worry about flipping a switch or getting out of the vehicle to do anything to get it into the 4 wheel drive.

2015 jeep grand Cherokee summit - not quite the quality I expected.
Overall, I think I have a good vehicle. It is a great looking SUV and has nearly all the features I want for safety, style and fun driving. It is a very low mileage vehicle still, but has had some issues. I have had to change some parts that should not go bad for a much longer time. It is finicky about the type of gas put in even though I am using the recommended gas type. It is a four wheel drive vehicle and one of the shock absorbers leaked and had to be replaced.

Love my grand Cherokee! I would recommend to anyone wanting a comfortable SUV.
I have no issues with my car whatsoever. Very reliable, great on gas, easy to keep clean, and so comfortable. The features in our package are very convenient. With the front and rear seat warmers, as well as cooling seats in the front, comfort is always top notch. We also love that the finishes are a dark stained wood and a lighter gold/silver color. It looks great.

Great car with lots of nice features. Has a few small issues with vibrating noise on freeways at high speeds (70+ mph). Also issues with the sound system bass at times. But the other features in the car make it worth it. Great gas mileage, safety features, and style. Biltwell.

Great vehicle for family.
There is lots of room for multiple car seats in the back seat. The trunk is very spacious. The car does overheat more than usual. And the window sometimes gets stuck. It is very good on gas. It is a very reliable car. Love the fact that it has enough space to fit 3 car seats in the back seat. Great for a big family.

Luxury for a reasonable price with the jeep grand Cherokee.
My jeep grand Cherokee has been a great car. There have been no issues. The only “maintenance” I have had to do is regular oil changes and tire rotation. 2015 jeep grand Cherokee altitude.
We have a 2015 jeep grand Cherokee, we do love this vehicle. It has been our favorite SUV purchase to date. We feel safe, and it is reliable. We do with it was a 4wd, instead of all wheel drive, due to buying tires, and sometimes we would like to not to in all wheel drive. Overall however we love our jeep.

Good feature and a concerning feature.
I really like the turning radius on the grand Cherokee. It enables you to get out of tight spots and makes parking easier. The only concern I have with the vehicle are the blind spots. They are when you look out the back side windows when backing up the passenger seat is a bit in the way.

Jeep grand Cherokee 2015 review.
Pretty good so far, few minor things that I had to pay to fix and not great on gas. The car ride is great but not happy with the dealer when I sat there for 6 hours and then he completely swindled me on the interest rate and payment and I was so exhausted, hindsight I should have never signed that loan.

Very comfortable and quiet ride. Steering is tight and responsive. Love the trim level of overland with the luxurious features. Gas mileage is not ideal. The technology and comfort package are helpful when living in a cooler climate. Having an 8.4” screen is very nice for rear assist and navigating through options on screen.

I love my Jeep Grand Cherokee
I have not had many problems with my car but my husband gets aggravated about the gear shift when trying to put it in reverse because he always seems to throw it all the way to park. The gear shift did have a recall because there was some software problem with how it reacted during use. I feel very comfortable in this vehicle, much more so that with a sedan or coupe. I can carry my handy dandy tools and a first aid kit, a portable folding chair or two and plenty of groceries all while still having a child's car seat in the back for my grandson and/or granddaughter.
