The positive of owning a Jeep liberty.

Overall I like my Jeep liberty - its roomy with seating for five people and extra room with a good size open trunk space good for groceries or luggage and the back seats fold down making the space even bigger - my Jeep has fabric seats with pockets on the back of the front seats allowing for important papers or children's items - there are cup holders and extra compartments between the front seats along with a glove compartment - there are air bags for the driver and the passenger - there is a Bluetooth CD player with radio - my Jeep handles well in the ice and snow with 4 wheel drive -coverall I love my Jeep I just wish the payments weren't so expensive!

Sturdy and comfortable, some issues.

The handling is really truly amazing. Moves perfectly on the road, especially in the winter in an extremely hilly neighborhood. The four wheel drive is exceptional. There have been some issues as the vehicle is old. The back driver side window has fallen into the door several times and we've had to duct tape it up. The ac has failed multiple times. The heat has failed multiple times. Windshield has only been cracked once. The car sometimes makes weird sounds and the speakers don't work a lot. Used to have brake problems, but it was solved. Really comfortable and stable on the road. Children love it. Feels compact and sturdy.

Very reliable car, great little family car.

I love my car. It is very reliable and comfortable. I got it when I had my daughter almost 4 years ago and still running. It is the first car I have owned all on my own, it has its problems, as older cars will. The front passenger and driver side window do not roll down and the a/c heat fan only goes from off or full on (1-4) heat and air works very well though, cold air and very good heat. Gets me around town, shopping, work, picking up kids. I would love to have a newer model when I get a new car though.

Safety Recalls (4)

Air Bags Nov 8, 2012
Report Receipt Date:
Nov 8, 2012
NHTSA Campaign:
12V527000
Summary:
Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2002 and 2003 Jeep Liberty vehicles manufactured January 9, 2001, through March 28, 2003, and 2002 through 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured February 13, 2001, through May 23, 2003. A component in the air bag control module may fail causing the front airbags, side curtain airbags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated.
Consequence:
Inadvertent deployment of the airbags may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash.
Remedy:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a supplemental jumper harness to the airbag control module, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during January 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753.
Air Bags Jan 28, 2015
Report Receipt Date:
Jan 28, 2015
NHTSA Campaign:
15V046000
Summary:
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2002-2003 Jeep Liberty vehicles manufactured January 9, 2001, to March 28, 2003, 2002-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured February 13, 2001, to May 23 2003, and 2003-2004 Dodge Viper vehicles manufactured November 1, 2001, to June 30, 2004. Due to electrical noise beyond the tolerance of the air bag electronic control module (ECM), a component in the ECM may fail, causing the front air bags, side air bags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated.
Consequence:
Inadvertent deployment of the air bags may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash.
Remedy:
Chrysler dealers will replace the air bag control module and front and/or side impact sensors as required, free of charge. These parts are not currently available, however, an interim repair is available free of charge that reduces the risk of an inadvertent deployment. This recall remedy was applied during earlier recall campaigns of these vehicles under safety recalls 12V527 and 13V040. All owners that have not had the recall repair performed under safety recalls 12V527 or 13V040 are strongly encouraged to have it performed and not wait for the final remedy to be deployed to the field. The replacement ECM parts needed for the final remedy are not expected to be available until the latter part of 2015. Owners will be mailed an interim notification in late March 2015 and will be mailed a follow up notification when new air bag control modules are available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R06.
Recall
Report Receipt Date:
NHTSA Campaign:
01V311
Summary:
On certain sport utility vehicles, the driver's side knee blocker trim panel assembly can disengage, fall, and startle the operator, increasing the risk of a crash.
Consequence:
Remedy:
Dealers will replace the knee blocker trim panel. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification began Nov. 26, 2001. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact DaimlerChrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
Recall
Report Receipt Date:
NHTSA Campaign:
01V373
Summary:
In the event of a frontal offset collision in these sport utility vehicles, sharp edges on the power steering pressure hose bracket could cut the front impact sensor wiring insulation, causing a short circuit in the wiring. This could delay the deployment of the air bag system, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
Consequence:
Remedy:
Dealers will wrap the front impact sensor wire harness with protective insulation to prevent the possibility of damage. DaimlerChrysler has not yet provided an owner notification schedule for this campaign. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact DaimlerChrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
