It is very durable and it is not good on gas.
I love the durability, I got into a car accident and has no damage. I wish it had a bit more features though, considering it is a 2017.

Bet car I ever ownes
I bought the 2017 Jeep Patriot High Latitude with all the goodies about 10 months ago. It had about 8500 miles on it and was like new. Even had the new car smell. I have had no problems with this Patriot. It runs very quiet and smooth. It is very stable on the road and does not lean on turns. 2.4 is not a fast start or fast vehicle. It has a quick start but going 35 or 40 you have to floor it. Gas tank is small so it looks like you don't get great mileage, but it gets 22-24 MPG. Will keep it and maintain it properly, in which I do not see any foreseeable problems.

My quick and efficient summary on my 2017 jeep patriot.
There are not that many problems when the car. I love how spacious the car is, and the interior is so comfortable. I love the Bluetooth capabilities it has. It is great when the weather gets bad especially in the rain and snow. The only complaint I have is that the gas mileage is bad.

I really love my Jeep Patriot
I enjoy my Jeep. I do notice that it takes a little more time to pick up speed (had a Sonata before) but it is a smooth ride. Plenty of room in the front and back. The back seats fold down if I need to haul something. Leather seats, sunroof, and satellite radio certainly sweeten the deal as well
accountCircle Nadine C
Reliable, quiet, and smooth handling.
Reliable and fun vehicle. Lots of room. I love the Sirius radio and the sound system is amazing! It is also a quiet and smooth riding SUV. The 4wd is super easy to turn off and on and the car handles wonderful in all weather conditions at my house in the country. I have had zero issues with this car. I am now a jeep owner for life!

Jeep patriot 2017 latitude.
I have had no vehicle problems in the last 2 years. The factory stereo sounds great, and it is a nice looking vehicle. It is not very spacious for an SUV but I am happy with it, especially at its low price point. The factory seats are fabric but the wheels are an upgraded black chrome color. Overall I would purchase this vehicle again if I had the option.

It's great on gas , definitely better than other SUVs
I love our jeep! It's comfortable and fun to drive and just the right size

Out of gas without warning!
Acceleration is great! But when you are out of gas, expect to be stranded on the road. There is no warning! Prompting you to find the next gas station. This is a design deficiency overlooked by Chrysler engineers.
accountCircle Jacqueline K
Transmission failed three times.
The transmission went out at 24,000 and 60,000 miles. Waiting for a replacement right now. I absolutely despise this SUV. It is trash. I would never advise anyone to buy a Chrysler product. I will never buy another one. I prefer Chevrolet. It was a huge mistake to buy this garbage.
accountCircle Kiara C
The stereo system you can add your own personal pictures to it.
Had problems with car not starting because of keyless entry key being broken and car having anti theft and a lot of issues with tires just not lasting long and losing air fast also had to replace the alternator and my vehicle only had one prior owner when purchased and I bought a 2017 jeep in 2017.

It is like they didn't even care what they were putting on the market!!
I would not recommend this car to anybody. The seats are extremely uncomfortable, horrible for long trips. The heat and ac both work great... But there is no medium. It is always either too hot or to cold. Not to mention mine is not a 4 wheel drive... Quite the surprise when we got a sudden snow storm last year. Does get decent gas mileage though and there is plenty of legroom in the back.
accountCircle Bryan L
Off road capabilities were very good.
Does not feel well put together for the price I paid. Rough ride, a lot of road noise. Started rattling after 2 months of driving and it was purchased new. Seats were uncomfortable on long trips and storage area was small. Rear seats were a bit cramped.

Bad standard transmission
My transmission started going out after 9000 miles. It makes so much noise it sounds like it’s going to fall out if the vehicle. Took it to the dealer, and they wanted $5000 for a new transmission. Took it to a transmission shop and they told me this is a problem with the Patriot. One client replaced the standard transmission with a new one, as well as the entire clutch assembly, but it didn’t fix the problem. The noise is still there. I used to like the Jeep Patriot, but not any more. It gets about 10 miles per gallon. I drove 2850 miles and both new rear tires were bald, and I wasn’t towing anything, nor did I have excessive weight in it. Worst car I’ve ever owned. The worst part is my extended warranty was denied, and they won’t honor it. Their warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. Total junk. I spoke to car repair professionals, and they said that Jeeps were fine until about 2004...but not anymore. My advice? Don’t buy one. They’re not American made anymore either. The engines are made in Mexico, and the transmissions...who knows...Timbuktu? And here I thought I was being patriotic by buying American as well as buying a Patriot...guess that’s for sale too.

Jeep purchased about 2 years ago from auto lenders for way more than it is worth.
Purchased from auto lenders and immediately there was an issue with the battery. Also purchased it thinking I would have more space but it is very small inside. Also now believe I paid way more than what it is worth. It is also horrible on gas mileage. I wouldn't recommend it to someone else.
accountCircle Chelsea B
I like that it warms up nicely when the heat is needed.
Poor gas mileage. A lot of noise when highway driving. When driving down a gravel road the dirt gets in very easily. Very compact.

Dependable and noisy but good for the price.
Cute and sporty with a boxy body style. It is great on gas mileage. Smooth ride however lots of highway road noise present. I have had no mentionable motor issues to date however the right windshield wash has stopped working. Not real great on pickup. Takes a while to get up to speed on hills. It is a good dependable vehicle for the money.

Jeep patriot review—faulty seatbelt sensor.
We haven't really had any problems with our vehicle since having it. Once big issue that barely matters is that the seat belt sensor in the passenger seat sometimes does not work, so even if the passenger is buckled up, it beeps and tells them to buckle up. Another minor issue that we've had is that the four-wheel-drive, after going on, sometimes has a hard time going off.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Walter K.

Good gas mileage for a Jeep, 4-wheel drive, good traction and handling in snow and ice. Many of the extras are good too. These include hands free phone use through the stereo system. The Jeep is an all-weather vehicle and with proper care and maintenance it should last for a number of years.

likeFilled Mark P.

Good gas mileage for a four wheel drive, seems to run well, solid car. A decent amount of storage for a compact SUV. Controls are easily accessed. Dashboard is nice. Decent legroom for a small car. Comfortable. Battery easy to access. Engine easy to understand.

likeFilled Amber T.

It is so sporty looking with a sense of a rugged SUV. The sport trim really adds to it is overall look. Very sturdy and reliable. When thinking about a car that has all of that this jeep is definitely one of them. It is a great buy!!

likeFilled Mike J.

It is good on fuel and it has a lot of space. The trunk is a nice size. The seats are of nice leather. It is a good car for a cheap price. The navigation and Bluetooth system works really well too. Overall I am very pleased.

likeFilled Mary C.

The size of the car is optimal for those that do not have to carry around a lot of people but do not want a small compact car, the price was fair. Great gas mileage, especially on the highway. Have only had one or two problems with the car, both being flat tires. In the three years I have been driving this car I have never had any issues with the car engine, transmission, battery or anything!

likeFilled Amanda S.

Plenty of room for a small family, good gas mileage, good for normal transportation and off roading, the shape and size are perfect for fitting into spaces, easy to drive, not too expensive, great for single people and or families, the seats in the back fold down so you can fit things in without any issues.

likeFilled Travis M.

Pros. Pretty good fuel on the highways for a small/mid size SUV. Nice stereo with Bluetooth. Comfortable ride. Fair amount of space. The vehicle is well worth its price... Fairly inexpensive for a nice vehicle. Cons. Breaking could be a little more smooth under wet conditions. Acceleration is not the greatest.

likeFilled Alexandra C.

Really easy to drive, the space is what I really need to travel, perfect for traveling. I do not spend a lot on gas when I travel, 30 miles on the highway. I have been doing the proper service every month and the payments are low so it's a very low cost jeep.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Walter K.

The only con I have found that was of consequence is that the gas tank is too small. Although the range is just over 300 miles, considering the size of the vehicle, a larger gas tank would have been not only possible, but desirable.

dislikeFilled Mark P.

Would like it to be a little bigger. Needs more area for storage. No room on the console to put anything. Hard for four people to be comfortable especially bigger people. Handling is not as good as many other SUVs.

dislikeFilled Amber T.

Maybe the non electronic alarm and door lock feature. It can be a challenge to remember to manually lock all doors, and can be inconvenient to put the key in the door each time when I want to lock or unlock the door.

dislikeFilled Mike J.

It does not drive as smooth as I would like it too. Sometimes when I back up it makes an odd sound. The Bluetooth will sometimes pause if I am playing music. But you really get what you. Truly pay for. Overall I am pleased even if there are a few cons.

dislikeFilled Mary C.

While highway driving is great, this car hits small bumps in the road with what feels like full force, even if you are going slow. Speed bumps and ditches are not your friend, no matter how small or large. However, it does drive like a wrangler, just less intense.

dislikeFilled Amanda S.

Mine does not have ac, is manual and does not have power locks or windows. So ultimately I got ripped off because I got a below standard version of it but otherwise I have no complaints this far but for those first few.

dislikeFilled Travis M.

Breaking is not the best under wet conditions. Acceleration is not the greatest. Does not perform terrible in inclement weather, but it is not great under those conditions. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons for this vehicle.

dislikeFilled Alexandra C.

I have been noticing some problems with the transmission. It makes a sound whenever I accelerate on the highway or when we are on the road. I have experience the inability to accelerate sometimes and I have notice a whining noise sometime. A problem with the ac do not know why sometimes it smells bad.

Is The 2017 Jeep Patriot A Good Car?

Yes. I enjoy the simplicity of the interior. I also like the height of the actual vehicle, it is not too tall to where I have to hop in it, but not too short to not be considered an SUV.
A M.
Yes love it except the small gas tank great in snow great height great heating and cooling and radio.
Jori T.
It is absolutely wonderful. It has tremendous storage space. Also it is very sturdy and I feel safe in it. It is not to rugged looking, and has some sass to it.
Amber T.
I enjoy driving my Jeep. I wish the gas mileage was better. The model is pretty basic/ no automatic locks/ and I find that bothersome.

I believe so. it has been reliable and has not had any major mechanical or electrical problems. It is a bit small for an SUV and the 4 cylinder engine is a bit small for fully functional 4 wheel drive

I've never had any problems with my Patriot. I've never been stuck or had problems starting even in the below freezing temps we get in the winter.
Richard M.
I have had no problems with the electrical or mechanical systems of this vehicle. The vent system does take a bit of time to change from one setting to another
Katie K.
Its reliable. The spark plugs just go out fast. I do drive a lot though, so that may be why. It has anti theft features on it like the lock on the hood

Is The 2017 Jeep Patriot A Good Value?

I bought mine used, so it was a bit cheaper. I think it is a good value for what you get. You do not get any fancy screens or anything, but I do not think anyone expects that for less than $25,000.
A M.
I got mine used by a car rental service it was a great value for my vehicle just like new when I got it.

I purchased my jeep used. The coat to me was 14,000. It only had 50,000 miles on it and still looked and felt new.
