2012 Jeep Patriot- Review from a Owner for 5 Years

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

The 2012 Jeep Patriot is a reliable car. It has lasted me over 120,000 miles and is still going pretty strong. It has had minor problems and issues but nothing out of the ordinary. The biggest problem with it now is that the transmission seems like it's beginning to go, but it is happening slowly. I believe this is normal for the high mileage. My model is the base one with crank windows and manual locks. They have never broke which is good but the technology is a little outdated for a 2012 car. The AC on it is amazing and very cold though. The seats are cotton and moderately comfortable. The gas mileage is about 20 mpg since it's a 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder and 2 wheel drive. Overall, good car for its money that is reliable and gets the job done. Great for a first car or can be enjoyed in the decked out 4 wheel drive version.

Reliable Family Vehicle with Amazing Storage Options!

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

I love my Jeep Patriot! The Manual version is easy to shift with its hill assistance! In the five years I have owned it, I haven't had any major issues! The seats are comfortable, but the back seats could be better! I am unable to put a car seat forward facing in the middle because the back seat isn't designed for this! I think this is a huge disappointment because it is safer for children to ride in the middle! The hatch of the Jeep is incredibly spacious that can fit several suitcases! The gas mileage is pretty good on the highway! My favorite feature of my Jeep is the Manual transmission that shifts so smooth!

Jeep Patriot 2012 Review

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

For me it has been a dependable family vehicle. I was wanting a small SUV and it was perfect. I only put four stars because the back seat is slightly small. If it were just people sitting, there'd be plenty of space. In my Jeep I need to have a car seat in the back and it causes the passenger seat to need to be pulled up a little. So it makes the passenger sit up completely straight, if not slightly forward. But other than that, it's a reliable vehicle and hasn't caused us any issues since having it for almost a year now.

Don't use the windows and everything will be ok

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

The 2012 has the same issues as previous models. The clock keeps poor time, even with fresh battery. The window motors give out quickly. Something is live in the CD player area when vehicle is off, hinting at the electrical issue that gets the window motors. Other than that it is very reliable, very little mechanical issues. The seats are comfy but I feel like the seats headrest is in the way when turning to view behind me. Side mirrors are poorly built and both cracked at separate times while driving.

The thing I like about the vehicle is the was its shaped.

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

Me and my husband bought the car used and a dealership. The first couple of weeks the car would turn on like normal, but after driving for a few miles it would automatically turn off on its own. And it was scary a few time when you drive on the freeway and just shuts off without warning. We had it checked and it was the sensor that had to be replaced. Since we had it replaced it didn't turn off anymore. I like my car even though that was the only problem we had with it.

Great drive but issues with cheap gas

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

Well it drives just fine hasn't has any issues until recently if I use cheap gas I noticed when u push the gas pedal it kind of like slows down or get stuck and I don't know the right way to describe it but it really weird and reminds me of if u were running out of gas or something. However if in go to chevron I notice that it will not do it then. But other than that issue I love the car it's easy to drive and the inside is very comfortable.

Jeep Patriot: room for kiddos

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

I have not had any issues with my jeep. I prove that it is roomy and practical. I have two car seats in the back seat and I do not feel like they are crammed. It is the most basic package, only the windows are electric, but I like it that way. Gas mileage is decent, around the 15 to 17 mpg range. Its comfortable. My biggest complaint is that it is fairly noisy when driving on the interstate. Definitely not a luxury vehicle

Do not get a jeep unless it is a wrangler.

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

Ever since I can remember people told me not to get a jeep BC of it is issues. Day off the lot check engine light pops on. Needs Cadillac converter or 02 sensors. Three weeks in need a new strut/ suspension. I cannot drive up the mountain without overheating. Four months in my alignment is off. If you were to get a jeep just go for the wrangler. Only thing jeep seems to really care about.

Jeep Patriot Do's & Don'ts

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

Sound of the tires driving is loud, nothing's wrong at all just how the car sounds. The trunk is extremely small we have 2 kids and our double stroller doesn't fit, if you are tall the front seats are not spacious. It's really good on gas! The seats are cloth and I love that they also heat up. There's no a/c in the back seats which is frustrating , also no charger port in the back either.

Jeep patriot pros and cons.

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

I love that my jeep is compact, yet still an SUV. It is easy to drive and handles well. I have had one issue which was a year ago when I would go to put gas in it and the temperatures were very cold- it would not let me fill up. This happened a few times but once it got warmer it stopped and has not happened since. I also had problems with it overheating in the summer.

Reliable 2012 Jeep Patriot

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

I bought this car used in 2014. It has been a very reliable car. I have kept the oil changed regularly and kept the tires rotated and changed as needed. The only tiny thing I don't like about this vehicle is the fact the front seat sits so low it's a little difficult to see out. I sit on an added cushion.

- Cassie T

Some quirks, but still a great vehicle!

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

The Jeep Patriot is the perfect size SUV- easy to maneuver and park, but large enough to not be intimidated on the road. Seems to have lights come on and little fixes slightly more often than my other vehicles, but nothing pricey yet (knock on wood) and I have owned the vehicle for nearly a year now.

jeep patriot runs well but not for long distance

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

I like this car but not reliable for long distances. I have has several problems has the car has gotten older and it has been expensive to fix but well worth it. I love jeep and the comfort of the car. I also like the interior of the car and amount of room there is for groceries and other people

- Allison M

Jeep patriot is a must have.

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

Great on gas. I have had my jeep for 7 years and it still runs great. The size is perfect for small families. Rooms for weekend getaways. Great performance on the road. I normally spend 30 dollars to fill up the gas tank and it last me a week going back and forth to work. I would recommend.

My experience with the Jeep Patriot

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

My vehicle is old and it has a lot of miles on it. I don't care for the square shape and the seats are uncomfortable. The vehicle doesn't have a pick up power when going on the highway. I don't like the shaking in the mufflers either. This is definitely not my style of vehicle at all.

Classic Jeep, perfect for a first vehicle

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

My Jeep is a very reliable vehicle, although the car burns through oil and gas very quickly. The only downside is the manual windows and the manual lock system that makes it hard when having a child and full hands. Comfort is perfect and definitely one of my favorite classic vehicles.

- Dakota F

Very reliable but lacks in comfort.

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

I am very happy with my cars performance. I do not find the vehicle to be very comfortable especially on long road trips. There is a bar that you lift to move the seat forward and back that gets in my way and is uncomfortable. Also the heat is either too much or too little.

- Terry W

Jeep patriots is the new minivan.

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

I love my jeep, it runs great, has lots of space, safe, and reliable. My daughters car seat, toys and two dogs fit in it great. I would recommend any type of jeep but this is the cool mom vehicle. My two medium sized dogs fit in the open truck and it's great on gas mileage.

- Kayla A

I love the patriot, you won't regret your buy!!

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

Ride smooth easy gas pedal nice interior. Its comfortable seating great radio system. I love having bluetooth as well. Everyone that drives it loves how smooth it is. It's quiet I have had overheating problems just recently though. And I am only the second owner.

- Taylor S

Poor performance and cheap quality on interior.

2012 Jeep Patriot Sport

Slow, stalls and does not have 4 wheel drive. The gas mileage isn't as good as it should be and the speakers vibrate no matter how loud the volume. The lights are not automatic and neither are the seats. The wheels are horrific. Ugliest wheels on any Jeep.
