It does what I need it to do.
I love my jeep. It really serves the purposes that I bought it for when I was a single mom. I still use it everyday, and I don't worry about driving in the winter at all. Runs great and I never really have much trouble with her at all. She's hitting about 80,000 miles and normal wear and tear is setting in, but nothing too major.

It is a real Jeep and can go where I want it to.
I like the styling, it looks like a Jeep. I like the cargo space . I like the way it drives anywhere I want to go.

The most important thing is reliable
I like my patriot because is reliable. Soon I will pay off. In the time I have it didn't have many recalls.

Favorite vehicle I have owned!!
My jeep has been one of the best, most reliable vehicles I have ever owned. It is just the right size for both in town and long distance travel. It has never had one issue. Plenty of storage and leg room. I love this SUV and dread the day I have to trade it in.

Jeep Patriot: great family car!
I love how it runs, it is big enough to fit my children and dogs. We have taken on multiple trips and it does great! I also drive this vehicle 60 miles a day commuting to work and have never had an issue with reliability. I have had it for 2 years and cannot be more happy.

CD player. Fold down back seats. Light up cup holders.
Reliable vehicle. I do not have a lot of bells and whistles on it, in fact, it is got manual windows and locks. I do have a CD player, radio, and love the air conditioning! It is spacious and the back seats fold down which is very inconvenient. Love my jeep!

Great vehicle that lasts forever.
Had some problems with radiator, but did not begin until ~180,000 mi. Had some small issues with electrical components, primarily windows. Very comfortable interior. Gas mileage not terrible. Smooth ride and good features, looks great—especially in green.

Jeep patriot all wheel drive/2 wheel drive.
I love the car because it is very reliable and really nice. I love how it is a jeep. It is very nice to drive. The only issue I have had with it is that the Catalytic converter went on it but it wasn't that expensive to replace. I want to keep driving jeeps after getting rid of this car because they are very reliable and I like SUV's.

Transmission issues
Transmission over heating light comes on when driving on interstate. Jeep you can't change transmission fluid or do any service for the transmission... Only can replace. Have googled this problem and it is a huge problem. Will never own another one. Jeep says it is a sealed transmission and a lifetime part... Well, I am the only owner .. So not a lifetime part. Very disappointed in jeep on this one.

Caught fire and burned up!
My car had been sitting outside for a couple hours. I walked up to it to get in and immediately saw a small fire in the middle of the floor just under the console. I immediately opened the door and grabbed my clothes in the front seat. Next thing I knew the entire car burst in flames. I wasn't close to water to spray it out but the fire was so hot it burned down right before my eyes. The tires melted. Everything inside not metal was gone. I could not believe it! I bought it new and still had one more year to pay on the loan. Now I don't have a car and I have a loan to pay off. This is terrible.

2013 jeep patriot gray with black interior
I have had nothing but problems, since getting this vehicle. The latest being my CVT transmission went out.

Total c**p Always Broken is a good title!!!
Basically a lemon, with out the ability to do anything about it. The Transmissions are the worst and run away screaming I have placed 4 used in this and nothing works. For better than 2 years now this vehicle has been in the shop and not on the road. .JEEP wants nearly 7K to install a new transmission. The BB on the car is half that! Anyone need a jeep?

It is not safe. Save your money and spend it on a more reliable vehicle
My patriot has been a lemon and money hog from day 1. Was just on the shop for 14 months. Window/door has also caught on fire 3 years ago. Not safe!
accountCircle Molly A
This vehicle has been incredibly unreliable personally. I was told when i purchased it that there was a larger engine than normal, but I recently had the car looked at and it's a normal sized engine. I've had two transmissions, a brake replacement, throttle body replacement, and still a constant high-pitched noise within the past 3 years. While it is a perfect size I have put a lot of money into it on just repairs.
There are definitely better and more reliable SUVs out there. I think people choose Jeep based on brand recognition, but cars like Toyota and Honda are way more reliable.

No power 2013 Jeep Patriot
I bought my 2013 Jeep Patriot pre owned in June of this year and I already hate it. (Granted I had a Subaru Impreza previously) It has no power. Okay, I exaggerated. It has power but not get up and go power. More of a grandma get up and go if ya catch my drift. The transmission constantly slips also. And no power windows or locks, in a 2013 vehicle?!
accountCircle Tina M
It has multiple blind spots.
This vehicle plenty of cargo space. It, unfortunately has multiple blind spots, poor pick up, poor gas mileage.

Reliable and handles like a dream in snow.
My jeep patriot handles really well in the snow and rain. I can haul lumber, pets, and even children everywhere safely. The patriot has been very reliable, but I did have to replace the transmission at 100,000 miles. This vehicle has been well worth the money I spent on it in 2012.

My car is super cute & matches my personality. It is a smaller SUV but so comfy.
I have had issues with spark plugs and the engine quite a few times within the last few years but for the first 4-5 years my car was super reliable and great. My car is relatively stripped down so it has the basic radio set up with a CD player and an aux plug. It has cloth seats that are still pretty comfortable, the back seats 3 but is definitely more comfy with 2 back there. The acceleration is not the best - try not to pull out on anyone. The breaks have become squeaky and I previously had an issue with a tire sensor that was broken and lit up despite no issue with my tire pressure. Overall, my car has been very reliable for the past 7 years and I am hoping for at least 1-2 more years out of it.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Sean C.

I love how the vehicle handles on the road. It performs well regardless of what type of weather there is (rain, snow). It is also very comfortable, even for long road trips. There is plenty of room for anything I need. Fold-down of back seats makes the back even more roomy when necessary.

likeFilled Sean C.

The vehicle handles great, in any type of weather. There is plenty of room on the inside and can fit up to five people. The back has plenty of room for storage, and it has held up great throughout the years.

likeFilled Anita S.

This vehicle sit well up, so it is easy to get in and out of. It is light, so snow can be tricky even in 4wd. Handles well and is good on gas(mpg) switching between 4wd and 2wd is easy, as the lever is inside on the center console. It is small, but it is a well built vehicle.

likeFilled Anita B.

Very dependable and roomy for its class of SUV. Patriot gets good mileage. Easy to maneuver in city traffic. Never at a loss for power when merging into traffic. Good overall vehicle. Great value for the money.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Sean C.

One very specific pesky thing - for some reason, the Blinker indicator is very touchy and does not like to stay in place when I use it to indicate I am turning. For example, I will push it up to signal a right turn, it will pop back down and turn off, even before I start turning. It does this at least 25% of the time I use it to signal I am turning. Not sure why!

dislikeFilled Sean C.

Sometimes the indicator to make a left and right hand turn has to be pushed a few times before it stays in place. I especially noticed this when I am making a right hand turn. Other than that, I really have no cons to list about this vehicle.

dislikeFilled Anita S.

It is small, so hauling capacity is limited. It is lightweight, which is great for gas mileage but not so good for traction in inclement weather. Mine did not come with a tow hitch. I do not know if that is because it cannot pull a trailer or if it is only an additional option.

dislikeFilled Anita B.

It does have some road noise, no more than is typical for jeeps in general. Jeep windshields are more straight up and down so more prone to chips. I have had to replace once and repair once. Some plastic supports on seat broke easily.
