The perfect car for college students.
The Borrego is literally perfect. My family has driven it all of the united states and it is extremely reliable. As a college student, the ability to have the third row lay down flat, makes it easy to move me and my friends in and out of the dorms. With basic upkeep, this car can go forever. If I could always have a Borrego, I would.

Seats seven or keep the third row folded down and seat five with plenty of storage.
I love this car because it drives very nicely yet has four wheel drive and tons of storage space. It's a good looking car. It has some suspension problems at this point but it still has a lot of life left in it.

This car is our family car you get great mileage and it is comfortable to drive
When I bought it it has a five-year warranty I got a fair purchase price and I love the way it drives and so do my kids and I love the mileage that I get

Great Car!
This KIA BORREGO is my first SUV and it has not disappointed!I bought this car the end of 2019 after my minivan was totaled. I am so happy with this car's performance and roominess. I'm always looking at other Borregos just in case something happens to this one, lol. This is such a great car, the only thing I don't like is the fabric that the seats are covered in oh, it gets d***y so easily it even shows water stains if you spill bottled water. Other than that the car is amazing. We took it on a short road trip of about 230 miles round trip and I can't wait to get it on a much longer road trip to see how it does. Overall this is my favorite car ever and I have had a whole lot of cars over almost 40 years of my life. Don't be afraid to take a chance on this car if you ever get your hands on one.

Great car, owned since new
I have had this car since 2009. The only issues have been the gas cap needed to be replaced twice in the first year, and the power door lock actuator on the front passenger door had to be replaced this year (2021) otherwise 126,000 trouble free miles. Even still has original brakes. I do my own maintenance and have use Amsoil synthetic products/filters from bumper to bumper on all my cars and NO I am not a dealer. EX, V8, 6 spd trans, leather, most other options.

A very reliable vehicle with a strong engine.
The Borrego has had no major problems at the mileage it has. It is strong and full of power. It is extremely roomy, a lot of space.

Simple crossover- no bells and whistles
Simple crossover. Seats 7 people. Heated windshield. Also has back up sensors but no camera. Towing ability is incredibly and it has 4 wheel drive. We get about 18 miles per gallon in city. Very reliable. I have had issues with the automatic locks. Three out of four doors need the regulator replaced.

Awesome SUV, good mileage
Gas mileage is pretty good for an SUV of the size. It has loads of room for passengers and carrying lots of stuff. The seats are very comfortable and are cloth, which I prefer to leather especially in the warm weather. The parts are a bit more expensive to replace since it's such a limited run car.

Great 4 wheel drive in bad weather.
Nothing but problems! Steering knuckle went out, wheel bearings, wheel bearings mount, not good on tires, tail lights go out, front end alignment is constantly needed, it's just too much wrong about this Jeep to speak on the good. There are a few good qualities but the bad always is near with this Jeep.

Engine start up rattle knocking
I like its drivability and look and room. It does however have a start up knocking rattle for a few seconds that cant figure out. Kia mechanic said timing cahin tensioners. So I replaced them and other items. This annoying start up noise is still there. Talked with several different mechanics and no one can figure it out. Not happy.

My vehicle GPS had old maps when I purchased it. No updates were available.
I purchased this vehicle in 2008, the first year it came out. I has a GPS system that had old maps however I was told that it would be updated. The update never happened and when asked about it they said it would be about $1200. This vehicle was only manufactured for a year so now parts are expensive and hard to find. It is still running good.

I like the vehicle but the repairs are extremely expensive. It breaks down a lot.
It runs well, has a lot of room and is comfortable but repairs are expensive

Very few borregos exist in our area.
The car is primarily plastic. Things started falling off within two years of purchase. It is cheaply made. I will never buy another Kia. We have had to replace bearings and have extensive electrical problems. Where the car is good on gas and overall looks nice it has other problems that don't make it cost effective.
accountCircle Hannah S
The Kia has really good breaks and makes perfect turns.
I like that my Kia has a third row seating so we can carry more passengers. I also like that the third row can fold down and we will have more room for our trunk area. I do not have anything that I do not like about it.

Very reliable vehicle!
I would recommend this vehicle to anyone! I had 325.000 miles on mine and the body did not have any rust at alll!! The only major issue I had with this vehicle was the alternator! They need to make this model again cause I would buy another!!!

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Martha S.

It seats seven people comfortably and still has room for storage. It can pull a trailer while offering comfort seating. It is easy to drive and does not feel like a big vehicle on the road. It is a smooth drive also.

likeFilled Paige G.

It is high off the ground, has 4- wheel drive, good in snow and ice. Gets decent gas mileage, has good seats, good radio, good color, good legroom, good sound system, 3 row of seats and good seat belts.

likeFilled Caitlen W.

I love the 3rd row seating, it is great for hauling my 2 kids as well as my best friends 2 kids, all of whom are still in car seats. I also love that the 2nd and 3rd row seats can fold down to make more cargo space when needed.

likeFilled Kiah Y.

Smooth drive. Extra spacious. Super sleek. Seven seats. Perfect for a large sized family, or bring friends along for a great adventure. Seats are easy to clean and wipe spills with. Seats fold back for more hatch space.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Martha S.

It is not great on gas. I drive a lot and the gas mileage is the biggest con. Also it needs a better brake system the factory system is not strong enough for the size of the vehicle. And parts are expensive when needed.

dislikeFilled Paige G.

Not the best gas mileage, lock on drivers side does not work with controls, takes a while to heat up in the winter, auto start does not work every time, Seats show all spills, it is starting to show rust.

dislikeFilled Caitlen W.

The car is a major gas guzzler, it takes anywhere from $35-$40 to fill it up from E, depending on the price of gas and I have to fill up at least once a week. It is rear-wheel drive and I take a lot of dirt roads, not good for getting out of muddy situations.

dislikeFilled Kiah Y.

The air conditioning doesn't always circulate the best to the back of the vehicle. Not super convenient for super long summer car rides. There also can be a little trouble pulling the middle seat back for the people to climb into the back.
