The most important thing others should know about my car is that it gets good gas mileage in spite of being an SUV
I like that it gets good gas mileage. It runs like an SUV, but is actually a hybrid car. It's a great car!!

It provides the storage space of a crossover with the fuel efficiency of a hybrid.
I love the fuel efficiency. I think it also has the most appealing design of any hybrid car on the market. I also appreciate all the safety features.

Great car for single people to small families.
It is the perfect economic car. Equipped with navigation USB and aux. Very comfortable to drive for hours. Since it is a hybrid oil change is every 6000 miles so it saves me money. Great gas saver too. Back seats are also comfortable for the kids they never complain on long drives.

The car gets great fuel economy.
I like the size. I enjoy the ease of driving. The fuel economy is wonderful. Compact yet still spacious.

The Kia Niro is a fantastic hybrid choice.
We purchased our Niro about one year ago. We have not had any issues so far. The gas mileage is phenomenal, we rarely get below 50 mph - this is incredibly important as my previous job required me to drive quite a bit. There were some days where I'd get above 60 mph on the highway. The car is comfortable, with plenty of room in the front seats and back. The trunk space leaves a bit to be desired, but the seats fold down easily and there is plenty of room. We do not have children yet, but our three dogs (50 lbs) all fit comfortably in the back when we travel with them. The Niro is incredibly quiet upon start up and when running, we have had several people tell us that they did not even realize it was on. The drive is smooth, no shakes or shudders. The seat heaters are a wonderful feature in the wintertime. All heating and cooling elements work well and kick on quickly. We love the android auto option - I will say I wish the USB for the android auto function worked a bit better as far as charging the phone while running the maps. The USB charger in the center console works well enough though, you just cannot run a maps feature through it.

Safety and economical in gas due to it being a hybrid.
Great gas mileage. Would gave like a sun roof. Bucket seats uncomfortable they get very hot when driving long distances.

The Comfortable Niro, quiet, economical
The niro is a hybrid gas/battery crossover. Very roomy but not oversized. Quiet ride and I have had not performance issues.

I never thought I would own a Kia.
I absolutely love my Niro. I average about 50 mph and I have cut my gas bill in half. Sometimes I use it to drive uber and people are always surprised that it is a Kia because it has such great features. I love the apple play and the adjusting cruise control. The car is a hybrid, so I Does not exactly speed away, but I'd Does the trick for driving me back and forth on my long work commute every day.

Kia Niro is a LEMON
While driving home from work last Thursday, my 2017 Kia Niro instructed me to immediately pull over and call Kia's "road-side assistance." At least three times in as many years the car has shut down and forced me to pull over. I immediately had my car towed to my local Kia dealer who once again told me it was a minor "fix" and the repairs would covered under the warranty. This has the common response each time my car has been TOWED to a KIA dealership, and each year when the weather gets warm I am left stranded on the side of a hazardous and busy freeway. As the original owner of my Niro, driving less than 10,000 miles each year it is readily is apparent that my car is a LEMON! After three years of patiently believing the Kia service departments when they tell me that my car has been fixed, only to be stranded once again, I have come to the realization that the only professional recourse would be for Kia to refund my money.

Box shaped Kia with a deck in the dashboard.
My Kia that I own drives very smoothly. It does not accelerate or have a fast jump off the line. It is not too high off of the ground to step into. It only has 2 other rows of seating but it fits three car seats in the row. Overall I would support a buyer's decision to purchase this car.

It is a non plug in hybrid.
It drives funny and it is not as good on gas as it was when I first bought it. I like display screen and menu features and I like the back up camera.

Kia Niro: functional not exciting.
Have not had any issues with function except sometimes the brakes can catch and cause a jumping feeling. Good gas mileage and comfortable. Has all of the standard basic features but overall nothing too fancy. Wish it had more power with acceleration.

The most important thing others should know is that it is ugly but efficient and goes far on a full tank of gas.
It's not the best looking car but it saves a lot of money on gas. If anything needs to be improved its the air conditioning because it slows down the car significantly when its on but its blazing on the inside when its not on.

This car is perfect for a little family.
Sometimes I have to fix the headlight. The brakes are very strong but you check them often. The best color is red in my opinion and if you get a color you do not like get I'done. It has enough space for my and my little family. Overall, my car does not often has problems.

Great car that I highly recommend.
My car is comfortable to drive and handles well. It lets me know if I am about to back into somebody or change lanes into somebody. I average 50 mpg. I love my seat warmer in the winter and I love having windshield wipers and defrost on back window.

Great mileage. Great comfort. Great controls and interior.
Like the comfort. I like the controls. I hate the shifting jerkiness of the hybrid.

Great looking, great mileage.
We have nothing but good things to say about our car. It is very comfortable to ride in, it is more responsive than we thought it might be, the gas mileage is great (especially when not using the heater) and it looks great. We're extremely happy with our decision to purchase this and would suggest one to everyone.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Dennis K.

It gets 50+ MPG in warmer weather, and mid to low forties in colder weather, when additives to the fuel supposedly reduce MPG. Has a full suite of high tech safety features, heated (and cooled!) Seats, and is reasonably roomy for a car that gets great mileage.

likeFilled Mary L.

The gas mileage, quiet motor, and it is very roomy. It is a very good family vehicle. After my accident I found out that the framework is very sturdy. There is not any cons about this vehicle. There is plenty of room inside vehicle and the truck area very big.

likeFilled Amber P.

Has absolutely the best gas mileage despite being an SUV, sporty and cute, good technology features such as CarPlay, Sirius radio, cheapest hybrid SUV; especially with all of the features available to it.

likeFilled Daylon J.

Drives smoothly and has good mileage, I can tune it and add more custom lights to it the radio is good, the tires are full and never get low, The seats have heaters and gun compartment inside and a sunroof.

likeFilled Dennis K.

Has the latest safety tech, heated and cooled seats, and gets very good gas mileage. In 3 years it has proven to be reliable and has not required a great deal of maintenance beyond the ordinary oil & filter changes & other minor fixes.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Dennis K.

I am not crazy about the fairly generic design, and still uncertain how long the battery will survive before needing replacement at what I am sure will be a high price. The interior is fairly cheap plastic.

dislikeFilled Mary L.

There is no con of my vehicle. I only is that it had more of the more advanced features that the more expensive trim. I wish it had remote start so on cold mornings I could warm up my car from inside my apartment.

dislikeFilled Amber P.

Get's terrible long distance gas mileage compared to city gas mileage. Could use more convenience features as options (I.E., Full grain leather seats). I would like to have had more options to upgrade than were available.

dislikeFilled Daylon J.

It has weird brakes, Sometimes it will cut off and take a while to cut back on but it will get fixed but also the car is red and not blue, the cup holders do not hold 3 cups only 1 the charger is android and not iPhone.

dislikeFilled Dennis K.

I am not particularly crazy about the look of the Niro, but in this modern era everything seems to look like some kind of rocket ship. I'd have preferred a more timeless look, with a bit greater length in order to increase trunk space.

How Reliable Is The 2017 Kia Niro?

None at all. None yet at least. It is had a couple of recalls, but nothing that was a big. Deal.
Kelly M.
It has had a few recalls, but that was because it was a brand new model when it came out. So far, it has been great.
Lana K.
Yes it is very reliable. We have had no issues with the car, it runs well and does its job beautifully.
Jasmine J.
It is a reliable car. However, I have had issues with removing the SiriusXM Radio on it. I do not want it and I am not paying for it. Sometimes it still tries to turn itself on when I use the audio on... Read More

Is The 2017 Kia Niro A Good Value?

It cost twenty-four-thousand-dollars and it was definitely worth. It in gas alone. Average cost to fill up is about twenty-four. Dollars a week.
Kelly M.
24,000 around that new. It is a GREAT value for the car. It is worth it alone in just the gas mileage you get.
Nicole H.
The average is up to $23,000, which is definitely a good value. It can be anywhere between $17,000 and $23,000, which is very good for a new car, which can often be double that.
