2019 Kia Niro is a fantastic hybrid car.
The only issue we have really seen is the location of the battery, so if you wanted to help. A friend jump their car it's a problem to get to. Otherwise it's an absolutely amazing car to drive, very smooth ride, the gas mileage is incredible. The Bluetooth connection for phones makes it easy to listen to music and podcasts without any issues.

The best hybrid on the market.
I have had literally no problems since I purchased the vehicle back in august 2019. Every single tank, I have gotten over 500 miles, almost 600 miles. There has not been one tank that I have averaged less than 55 miles per gallon. The performance is great, it has a sport mode that really kicks itself into gear when you need it most. The car is comfortable, roomy. I have put 5 people in it, and no one was uncomfortable. I have fit two car seats in the back with no space issues. I have also made many trips to the landfill with the back seats folded down. When the back seats are folded down, you can fit so much stuff back there, it is insane.

Great value and economy in a nice looking package.
It gets excellent gas mileage, is comfortable and fairly quiet. It has cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring as well as power driver seat and dual zone a/c. The dual clutch transmission is ok but a normal automatic transmission with 7-9 gears would be better in my opinion.

Sport mode in action takes over the road.
There are no issues with my vehicle. The performance is great as long as you put the vehicle in the sport mode. It is very reliable I have not had any issues in this is actually my second Kia. In terms of problems I must say the sensors on the vehicles go off very easily and that can be very annoying. Every time I pull up to a drive-thru the sensor on the left side of the vehicle is going off and it is difficult to hear what the person in the window is saying. Also the vehicle it is not completely and fully electric and automatic which is also another downside.

Great price, great mileage, great car.
Excellent car. I really like it and it drives great. Just wish it had power seats as well as heated and cooling seats. The features are minimal with this model. The miles per gallon are 50 plus. My last hybrid got 40 miles per gallon so the improvement is awesome.

Amazing range, feisty torque and civilized ride
I bought the fully electric Niro in early May and am taking it in for its first service interval in late October. No oil change. No coolant check. Just...tire rotation! And the cost of electricity consumed over 12,000km/7,500 miles?? About 120 bucks! Canadian!! Love it so far. And looking forward to seeing how it performs in winter.

All the luxury without the hefty price tag!
I own a 2019 Kia Niro s touring edition. Highest trim level possible for 2019. Comes with every creature comfort you could want in a luxury car, but with half the cost. Cut my gas bill literally in half, as even without an economical driving style I average almost 50 mpg around Houston! Definitely buying another Niro when this one gets old, except I will be stepping up to the PHEV (plug in hybrid).

Great car, only minor issues.
The care has had problems with the steering column and with the battery draining because the hatch didn’t shut. The car gets great mileage and has been good to me. It is comfortable and sporty. The best part is better mileage in the spring and fall, the ac or heat losses gas mileage.

Start button not working until 12v battery button pushed first
The underbody of this car is barely functional in rural areas. The anti glare makes it undriveable if there are no streetlights. Now the engine start button does not respond overnight. I have been pushing the 12v battery button which starts the car, and then the start button works. If have had the car in the shop three times and after each check up if only works for awhile, this time it wAs checked on feb 6 and on SaturdayFebruary 8 and Sunday I had to activate car by pushing 12 v battery.

The Mileage went from 4.5 L/100km to over 6 L/100km
When I got my new Kia Niro L Hybrid it was functioning as it should and even below the 4.5 L/100km. After I got it serviced for the first time I noticed on the way home that the mileage seemed to be higher than it was originally and continues to get higher and higher each day. It seems to be hardly ever in the Electric mode now and always charging the battery, that never gets fully charged and revving up to max when it goes from a stop to resume driving I brought it back to Kia South to have them address the problem and they tested the battery and said it was fine, and then charged me a service fee to look at my 3 month old vehicle. Anyone have any similar issues? I bought it for the fuel mileage, not to have to keep bringing it back and forth to the dealership..... I've recontacted the dealership for answers but have not responding after 3 days of waiting for solution

Nice, but not my top choice.
Great mileage, nice look, quiet cabin. Slow pick up after stops, especially when getting on a freeway on ramp. Previously owned a Honda accord-miss the roominess of it. Wanted to go from gas to hybrid. Will not keep after lease is up. I miss my full sedan.

MPG is not as advertised!
I owned a 2018 and then a 2019 Kia Niro EX Hybrid. The 2018 got great MPG just as advertised. My 2019 however is not very good at all. MPG is at best 38-39 and at times around 27 MPG. I have had good experiences with the Kia dealers in Illinois but the dealers in Missouri are terrible. The car itself seems pretty much the same but the fuel economy is not anywhere near what it should be. I took it to the dealer in Lees Summit, MO and the tech totally dismissed my mileage issues saying it was functioning as it should. The 2019 does not charge battery to the same level of charge and therefore does not run in electric hardly at all. Loved my 2018 but not my 2019.

The kira Niro is a good, affordable hybrid.
My Kia Niro hybrid is very reliable. I have had no problems with it this far. It is a nice, easy ride, and it gets good miles to the gallon. It is also a very good looking car. It does not have a very powerful engine, but for my needs of commuting, it is sufficient. It also has fairly small trunk space.

Excellent miles per gallon.
No bells and whistles. Plan model but works. Great performance and speed. Excellent gas’s mileage. Haven’t received under 55 miles to the gallon in the city driving as of yet. The key is driving under 55 miles per hour otherwise gas mileage lowers on Hwy but not by much. Excellent buy for commuting.

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Mark C.

Great gas mileage. I only fill up once a month. Lane assist and apple carplay are great. It has good amount of room to haul around the family and gear for soccer. Super quiet on the inside of the car. So long as the kids are not in it.

likeFilled Arlow F.

It saves a lot on gas. It is small but cute and very spacious inside. The color is also beautiful. I have the blue Kia Niro. It is quiet and smooth and the sport drive option makes it fast going uphill.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Mark C.

It is a bit gutless. If there are a lot of hills that you drive on you will lose the gas mileage quickly. When I switched my work route to one that had a lot of hills I went from 52 mpg to 44 because of how gutless the engine is on hills.

dislikeFilled Arlow F.

The cons of this vehicle is the maintenance. It appears as though I have to buy double of everything when I take it for maintenance for the regular part of the car and then for the hybrid part of it. It's getting expensive.

Is The 2019 Kia Niro A Good Car?

Yes, very good. Great on gas, drives nice. Very quiet. Small and easy to get around. Plenty of seating. Hand free accessible for calls and music.

Absolutely! Great gas mileage and smooth handling. I would definitely recommend to anyone. This is my third Kia and I am thrilled with the performance.
Garrett F.
I've only had it for a few weeks but I am enjoying it and I believe it’s a good car. I love the gas mileage I've been getting and the Apple car feature.
Jake D.
Yes, this vehicle is excellent and meet all my needs. My kids love it, the size is amazing and I love the way it make you feel like you're driving on air.

How Reliable Is The 2019 Kia Niro?

Very reliable. No problems with this car so far. Easy to drive and operate. Car does a scan every time it is started, plenty of lights to let you know if something is wrong. Will not start without key... Read More

Kia lx hybrid is extremely reliable and dependable. It is almost like you are coasting along when driving. So far this has been my best vehicle.
Garrett F.
It seems to be reliable and I haven't had any problems so far. I bought the car used and there is a service light on, which I will be taking care of soon.
Jay P.
His vehicle is very reliable. The only problem I would say my car has, it that it is not the updated version with the heated seats and rear mirror lights but it works great
Sylvia J.

Is The 2019 Kia Niro A Good Value?

Cost 28,000 for the one I got. I think it is worth the money for a nice eco friendly, gas saving vehicle. Been reliable for me and I drive a lot.
Carey F.
The cost is around twenty seven thousand. I think it is a reasonable price for a hybrid. Monthly payments are a little high but not overly expensive.
Garrett F.
Yes. I have two kids and drive them around a lot! So, I needed a car big enough to accommodate my family, high mpg, and a reasonable price.
Nicole B.
The basic version ranges between 20,000 to 34,000 for more upgrade. It is a good value for an SUV for sure
