The 2020 Lexus NX lasts around 300,000 miles, with some minor paint and window issues reported. At $31,850 to $39,615, it’s a great value for a compact luxury SUV that will out-last the competition.

likeFilled The Good
There’s a lot of passenger room for a small SUV, the suspension is smooth and the cabin is very quiet with upscale materials.
dislikeFilled The Bad
It’s not as sporty as some German competitors, there’s not a lot of cargo space and the touchpad stereo system is finicky to use.

The new Lexus 2020 nx f sport is the perfect SUV for the tech-savvy person.
The performance on this vehicle is great. I have a apple car play, sunroof, heated and cooling seats, and heating steering wheel. For the first year, I have an app for free to turn car on/off, lock it, etc. The only thing is I feel like the car is actually smaller than I expected, and often times need extra room on big trips.

This vehicle has a lot of safety features. It is really good on gas and drives very smooth. The exterior is very sharp and spotty looking. Interior very sheek black leather. Interior design is very nice not too fancy. Overall I would not change my mind it is the perfect size not too big. Very roomy lots of trunk space.

My amazing vehicle! Drive in luxury!
I have not had any issues with my vehicle. Seats are very comfortable. Air works great, including the ac/heated seats. It drives smoothly. I love the look of the interior. Apple carplay is awesome and with it there is no need for a GPS. Backseat is roomy and can fit two adults and a child.

Safety, quality: the level of quality fixtures in this car is truly impressive.
My ex has all the safety features available and they are of high quality. I tend to lease vehicles with up to date safety features and this car does not disappoint. My only negative is the poor gas mileage. A highway average of 28 is below what I am used to.

Smooth ride, nice family car.
It is a great quiet and smooth ride. Very comfortable interior. Has remote start, lane departure, heated seats, the seats in the back recline as well. The sound system is good as well. Not bad in gas, I drive a lot and fill my tank with $25-30 every week.

Red interior black Lexus nx 300.
Love this car, have not had any problems with it so far, red interior is beautiful. Car is luxurious and spacious. Would recommend to younger people as it is a sportier car. The seats are a bit narrow but otherwise comfortable. If large seats are for you this is not the car for you. Back seats are pretty spacious. Good for car seats.

Classy and sporty vehicle.
Very comfortable car. Love the classy looking interior. Drive around town in eco mode, but fun to put it in sport mode when you want to zip around. Drives great in the winter. All around great vehicle. The f sport series is one of the sharpest looking vehicles out there in my opinion.

Lexus has not let us down.
So me and my wife recently financed a 2020 Lexus nx 300 and we absolutely love our SUV. It is easy to handle, it is easy to navigate the information entertainment system, the only downside is the spacing. If you want a spacious ride as far as transporting bulky items this ride is not the one. For luxury, a smooth ride, fuel efficient even though it takes the highest petroleum this is a great buy and overall we are happy with our purchase.

What Do Critics Say About the Lexus NX?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2020 Lexus NX offers a luxurious ambiance for the money, with very high owner satisfaction scores as it ages.
  • Edmunds rates the Lexus NX at 4.1/5, enjoying the standard high-tech safety features, but doesn’t like that it’s not as sporty as some of the competitors.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the NX a 4.5/5, praising the overall pleasant driving experience for a small SUV, but owners don’t like the limited interior room.

What Common Problems Does the 2020 Lexus NX Have?

Common problems reported on the 2020 Lexus NX include chipping paint on the front bumper, windows failing to roll up or down, and some stereo system issues. Overall, these problems are relatively minor compared to other small luxury SUVs on the market, leading to lower repair costs as an NX ages.

Chipping paint on the front bumper is the most widespread complaint from 2020 NX owners, showing up within the first 10,000 miles. The sharp angular design of the front bumper makes it prone to stone chips. Some owners do touch up paint, which costs around $150, while others repaint the front bumper for around $1,000.

Windows failing to roll up or down is another problem mentioned by some 2020 NX owners at roughly 30,000 miles. Window regulators are a known weak spot in many Toyota and Lexus vehicles. The only way to fix the problem is by replacing the parts, which cost around $650.

Stereo system issues also show up on some 2020 Lexus NX models within the first 1,000 miles. There are software updates available for the stereo system, which improves its reliability. Most dealerships will install these updates for free during normal servicing, while others charge around $50 for labor.

There are no recalls on the 2020 Lexus NX, which is better than most other small SUVs on the market. Since there are no recalls, it simply means none of the issues have affected the safety or overall reliability of the SUV.

How Long Will the 2020 Lexus NX Last?

A well-maintained 2020 Lexus NX can last around 300,000 miles, which is longer than other compact luxury SUVs, including the BMW X3. Regular annual maintenance costs are lower than the competition, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $418 per year.

As a used 2020 NX reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history report, owners should be prepared to replace the engine oil level sensor costing $550, knock sensor costing $650, along with the A/C compressor, which costs around $1,000.

How Is the Technology?

The standard entertainment technology is great, and includes an 8-inch central display screen with Apple CarPlay and Android auto connectivity. Optional upgrades include a 14-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system.

Standard safety technology is better than other small SUVs with:

  • Rearview camera
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Lane departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Forward collision warning
  • Bicyclist detection
  • Lane keep assist
  • Traffic sign recognition

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Surround-view parking camera system
  • Forward automatic emergency braking
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Front and rear parking sensors

Is the 2020 Lexus NX a Good Value?

Yes, the 2020 Lexus NX is a great value if you’re looking for an upscale compact SUV with excellent long-term reliability ratings. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $31,850 to $39,615, making it more than an Audi Q3 or Cadillac XT4. When new, the price range was $36,870 to $45,360. Depreciation is better than average, only losing about 5% of its current value per year.

What are the Different Models of the Lexus NX?

There are three main models of the NX offered, including the base 2020 Lexus NX 300, the NX 300 F Sport, and the NX 300 Luxury. All models come standard with front-wheel drive, while all wheel drive is available as an optional upgrade.

What Engines Come In the Lexus NX?

The standard engine in the 2020 Lexus NX is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which delivers a robust 235 horsepower. This engine is paired with a smooth six-speed automatic transmission and provides a combined fuel economy of 25 MPG (22 city/28 highway for the FWD model). When it comes to acceleration, this variant can go from 0 to 60 MPH in a respectable 7.2 seconds, offering a balance between efficiency and responsive performance.

What Colors Does the Lexus NX Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Lexus NX?

The 2020 Lexus NX scores highly on the comfort scale, solidifying its position as a luxury compact SUV. From the moment you step inside, the NX envelops you in a cocoon of comfort with its meticulously crafted cabin. The seating in the Lexus NX is particularly noteworthy, featuring well-padded, supportive seats upholstered with high-quality materials that make both short commutes and longer journeys a pleasure. The front seats are designed with ample adjustability and, in higher trims, include features such as heating, ventilation, and memory settings, providing personalized comfort for the driver and front passenger.

The ride quality is smooth, thanks to the vehicle’s suspension system adeptly absorbing most bumps and dips in the road, providing a serene driving experience typical of the Lexus brand. Noise insulation is also top-notch in the NX, with very minimal road or wind noise entering the cabin, even at higher speeds. This tranquility enhances overall comfort, allowing passengers to enjoy conversation, listen to music, or simply appreciate the quietness during their journey.

Rear-seat passengers haven’t been overlooked either, as they enjoy a generous amount of legroom and headroom, making the space cozy for adults as well as children. The climate control system, which maintains the interior at an ideal temperature, is a notable feature, with rear vents making sure those sitting in the back are just as comfortable as those in the front.

How Much Storage Space Does the Lexus NX Have?

The 2020 Lexus NX is a luxury compact SUV that skillfully combines an elegant design with practical utility. When it comes to storage space, this model offers decent capacity for its class, although it’s not the most spacious option available. Specifically, the Lexus NX provides 17.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. This space is suitable for your everyday needs, such as accommodating a couple of medium-sized suitcases, a stroller, or a week’s worth of groceries. For larger transport needs, the rear seats can be folded down, expanding the cargo area to 54.6 cubic feet. This larger space can hold bulkier items like bicycles, large boxes, or even small pieces of furniture.

In addition to the main cargo area, the Lexus NX caters to storage and organization with various small interior storage compartments. These include a glovebox, a reasonably-sized center console bin, door pockets in the front and rear doors for smaller items like bottles or umbrellas, and cup holders for both front and rear passengers. The central armrest also provides additional space, perfect for tablets, books, or other items you want to keep handy. Additionally, under the cargo area floor, there is a small hidden compartment where you can store items out of sight or keep valuables. While the Lexus NX isn’t the leader in its segment for cargo space, it smartly balances luxury and practicality, offering multiple storage solutions for an organized and comfortable ride.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The first generation of the Lexus NX was introduced for the 2015 model year as a new small SUV.

2015: First model year for the Lexus NX, which is a more budget-focused SUV in the Lexus lineup.

2016: Lexus Enform apps added to have better smartphone integration than in earlier years.

2017: Scout GPS Link navigation system is standard on all models.

2018: Renamed to NX300, larger central screen added, and Safety System+ is now standard on all models.

2019: No updates from earlier years.

2020: More driver assistance features added, Android Auto now offered, optional Mark Levinson stereo system available.

2021: Blind spot monitoring and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are standard on all models.

How Does the Lexus NX Compare to the Competition?

The 2020 Lexus NX is a great compact luxury SUV since it pairs a lot of advanced technology with some of the highest long-term reliability ratings on the market.

The Lexus RX is a larger competitor, which costs about $5,500 more. Passenger room is better in the Lexus RX, while the Lexus NX feels more nimble and responsive to drive. We recommend the Lexus RX for most people, but both are very good SUVs worth testing to see which you prefer.

The Acura RDX is another small luxury SUV which can be found for about $1,500 less. The cargo space is slightly better in the Acura RDX, while the Lexus NX comes standard with more safety features. We recommend the Lexus NX since it has lower predicted ownership costs as it ages.

Why the luxury brand is worth it.
I absolutely love my Lexus nx. The luxury details make a huge difference in a car. The unlocking and locking features on the door are great. The heat and cooling seats are perfect temperatures. Additionally, the seats are extremely comfortable and I never sat in a car and been comfortable for a long period of time.

Great CUV, poor infotainment system.
The Lexus nx300 is comfortable and has a smooth ride for the size of the vehicle. There are a wide variety of safety features, including lane-keeping assist, pedestrian braking and parking assist. The infotainment system uses a touchpad that is extremely difficult to use without seeing what is on the display screen, so it can be very distracting.

Lexus nx300 sleek design all packed into a smaller SUV. Reliable and fast!
Love the heated seats and sunroof. The lane keep assist is excellent and reliable and have come to really enjoy and cannot imagine driving I am without the blind spot detectors. Everything is at the top of your fingers and easy to navigate and learn. The color and design is sleek and sophisticated. Lexus and Toyota is truly a brand you can depend on! It is a smaller SUV but perfect for a smaller family. The back seat is still roomy and the front seats have enough leg room.

My Lexus rx honestly gives me no issues. It is a very smooth drive, it is very comfortable and for me it is a luxury vehicle. My only complaint would be gas, it does go through gas pretty fast and it takes the most expensive gas. But I guess you pay for what you get. The car is amazing.

There's a hidden mirror in the center console, definitely a cool hidden perk.
Display screen will occasionally go blank randomly, I'll typically have to either turn off the car or unplug my phone from USB to get screen to change back. Not a lot of space in the back seat for taller people. Do not fit 3 adults in the back comfortably. Otherwise, lots of trunk space. Meant for small families.

I honestly love the car, I could be a little biased because it is my first car. The 2020 Lexus nx is comfortable and composed, gets good mpg ratings, and provides comfortable seating for adults in both rows. Has anyone been having a problem with the brakes. I bought a 2020 a month ago and the front brakes makes a bark sound when applied. There are no problems with my vehicle. It is efficient and performs at its maximum capacity. It has great speed and is eco-efficient, something we all look for in a vehicle. I love that it rides smoothly and makes you feel like I am gliding through the roads. I think another great feature is the sos panic button. No one knows when you will be in trouble so having this button makes you feel safe even if you may forget your phone at home.

My car is stylish, fun to drive, but also very safe. It is perfect for me!
My car is a white SUV with caramel brown leather interior. I love the smart technology in my car. It is apple play enabled and my voice gets picked up pretty clearly when I request to make a phone call. This is very important to me for safety and especially because my old car was not very good at understanding my requests through apple play. This year's model also has more added safety features like lane assist, automatic stop break for pedestrians/cars unseen, and my favorite, automatic high beam shut-off/on. Your steering wheel vibrates and automatically aligns when you are swerving into the next lane. Your car will come to a dead stop if a pedestrian or car jumps in front of your car or if the vehicle in front of you comes to a quick stop. The high beam lights will go on automatically when the vehicle senses that the road is dark(not even when it is too dark) and will automatically shut off when it senses another vehicle is coming from the opposite direction. You do not even have to think about it! I love this feature. You also have the option to turn off all of the safety features if the alerts are bothersome to you. Other safety features like lane change assist and bumper sensors are also included in the vehicle although I do not know if these features are standard for this model. There is also a back-up camera and side sensors for parking in a driveway, garage, or the street. Sirius XM provides a 1 year trial with the lease or purchase of the car. Drivers are also able to gain access to some of the car's functions remotely through the Lexus app. Although I cannot remember the name of the actual app, you are able to start the car without being in the car and securing the location of the vehicle. I hear that for underage drivers(and I guess any driver for that matter), parents can set speed limits! Very important. I love my car!

My car is several months now and I couldn’t be happier with its performance! I was on the market for a nice SUV that wasn't too large but was big enough and not a crossover style. The seating in the nx is unlike anything else, super comfortable, amazing leather and trim on the interior. One thing I absolutely love is when in reverse, the mirrors automatically shift down so you can see the ground and your surroundings!

Comfortable but sporty great crossover.
The Lexus nx is a great crossover. Roomy interior and the most comfortable seats ever. It accelerates well and handles amazing. The one thing I do not like is the premium gas requirement and the addition of a CD player was not needed could have been a storage area.

Comfortable ride for us
Car drives smooth, not to big. Love the interior, wish the wheels would have been black to match the black exterior. Not a fan of silver/ chrome wheels. Perfect size for me and my girlfriend. Wish the back seats were heated and that the display could play videos for long trips.

The odds and ends of the Lexus nx.
It feels top heavy like a jeep. Does not make turns smoothly. I have a lot of blind spots. Goes through a lot of gas. Is not ideal for long road trips. Very comfortable seats. Easy to use navigation system. Good for a small family. Lots of truck space. Drives well in snow.

Energetic, safe vehicle to drive.
The Lexus nx is a highly reliable, fun to drive vehicle. It has good pickup and has great brakes. There are many safety features and the navigation system is excellent. The sound system is very enjoyable. There have been no issues requiring any service.

My Lexus is comfort and safety to the highest standard!
I have a longer commute time to and from work and my Lexus is a dream to drive it in. I am comfortable and safe in every way. It has a stunning warm red (merlot like) interior. It has temperature and comfort settings in the seats that just hug me. Th sound quality of the stereo and easy use of the hands free options and apple carplay are awesome. My Lexus representatives at my dealership are brand experts at helping me understand all of my vehicle features which just makes me love the brand that much more. My car is a convenience, a comfort and an asset.

Great car! It has a lot of features I like.
I bought this SUV in December of 2019. I have had no problems with the SUV so far. The performance of this vehicle is excellent. It is a very reliable car. It is very comfortable. It has many features. Warm seats and cool seats are a plus. The trunk does not open for me. You have to stick your foot under the car for it to open.

Lexus nx: smooth and reliable.
No problems so far... Gets pretty good mileage and provides a very comfortable and smooth ride. The back up camera is super helpful as well as the cars ability to detect potential hazards/ things in the way. It is automatic stop function is particularly helpful when parking and / or backing out.

Lexus nx: smooth and safe.
I really like this vehicle. It provides a very smooth and safe ride. I really like the back up camera as it allows me to back out of a parking space in the safest and most accurate manner possible. Additionally, I really like the lane detection feature because it notifies me when I have drifted out of my lane.

The best feature is being able to start the engine from inside.
I was hoping that even the least expensive would have a seat warmer. I have driven cars that were not as luxurious and seat warmer was part of the package. It is no problem with course in the summer months but when you get into a cold car the highlight would be to put on the seat warmer.

Lots of leg and height room.
5th Lexus. Very reliable and comfortable. Great customer service. Never had a problem. Very roomy and easy to operate. Enough storage space for me. Easy to park. This navigation system is different than previous models and I do find it confusing at times.

Lexus nx f sport is amazing!
Beautiful design inside and out, very comfortable, lots of space for a compact SUV, lots of functions, great speakers sound, pleasure to drive. Sport function makes the car accelerate very fast and eco function lets you not waste too much gas. Very affordable luxury vehicle, love it!

Nothing else could ever compare!
I love it! I have searched so many other vehicles, each and every dealership that is known. I didn't actually fall in love with any of them, some I liked, but my Lexus always came on top. It has amazing features: heated and cooled seats, lane assist, memory seat adjustments, Bluetooth options, smooth ride, beautiful style, and so much more. If this is an option to anyone, don't regret it, you will be in love!

Luxury and comfortable vehicle.
It is the perfect vehicle for a family, comfortable, secure and stable. The trunk is really big and also is economy fuel. The seats are comfortable and looks really great in red color..It is a luxury vehicle with a nice surround system, including in someone case Wi-Fi.

Great SUV without being too large.
Great car good gas mileage. I only wish it had collapsible side mirrors. The interior is roomy and easy to keep clean. The paint is well done and stands out among other cars. The radio is easy change while driving and they gave a 6 month Sirius enrollment. I hit a bike backing out of my garage and very little damage was done to the body showing me it is quality construction.
