Sep 15, 2023

The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder lasts around 200,000 miles with some minor automatic braking system and brake wear issues reported. At $18,100 to $37,500, it’s a good value for a three-row midsize SUV with some practical safety features.

likeFilled The Good
The stereo system is very easy to use, its V6 engine is strong and the standard safety technology is good.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The suspension is very firm, the third row is a bit smaller than some competitors and there’s less limited storage room for small items.

Is the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder a Good Used SUV?

  • Overall Rating 8/10 – 2019 is a good year for the Nissan Pathfinder since it offers a lot of good safety features and passenger room. Owner reviews praise the supportive seating, quiet cabin, and the reasonably strong V6 engine.

  • Value 7/10 – The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder is cheaper than most other midsize SUVs, although rapid depreciation rates lower the overall value score.

2019 Nissan pathfinder thoughts.
This car is great for families to use. I love all the features that the car came with. I do wish it had cooled seats, but the warming seats is great. Storage room is tight when you have the third row up. The compartment that you lift in the back is not deep enough to hold anything. The performance level of the engine has been wonderful.

#1 best pathfinder features.
My pathfinder is super safe. It has lots of features I never knew I would want. Super quiet on the road. Gets great gas mileage and has a decent size gas tank. Love the reclinable second row. Love that is has a third row. The auto ac is super nice. Push button start that is awesome.

Highly recommend the 2019 sv Nissan pathfinder - perfect family ride!
Myself and my family really love this new car! Having a third row is very helpful and hard to find in this price range. The interior feels very luxurious, the performance is very fun, and the look is very appealing! I would highly recommend this car to anyone that is a new family or simply enjoys a large vehicle with good performance and economic gas mileage.

2019 Nissan pathfinder is a big thumbs up!
This vehicle is very roomy. I have eight dogs and frequently need to transport them to and from work. Eight dogs (ranging from chihuahua to great Dane) fit comfortably. There are 3 rows of seats with plenty of legroom. Road noise is a minimum. It is not completely quiet, but it is better than previous cars I have owned. The stereo system that comes stock is one of the best I have had in a vehicle. The car comes with a navigation system, fairly large screen, reverse camera, and my favorite part of the car is it is sonar system. Not only can you see behind you while reversing but you can see all the way around the car. Overall, I would definitely buy Nissan pathfinders in the future.

Do not really have any problems.
I don't really have any problems. The pathfinder is a roomy SUV with seating for seven in three rows. All models come with a 284-horsepower, 3.5-liter v-6 engine that teams with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Front- and all-wheel-drive versions are available. Competitors include the ford explorer, Honda pilot and Toyota highlander.

2019 Nissan pathfinder great car for a family!
I love this vehicle. It is a perfect family car with a lot of space for everyone. The third row seat is really helpful and the trunk storage when the third row is laId down is great. It is got push button start, Bluetooth, keyless entry, great mpg and remote start up, which is great for cold mornings.

I like my car. It is a Nissan rogue.
I do not really have any issues at all. The car has been fantastic and reliable. Anything that needs to be done the dealer takes care of it. I have really enjoyed owning my vehicle, and would gladly own another one when my lease expires. There is definitely a great repair program with this vehicle and I really enjoy driving it.

Best car I have ever owned.
I love everything about my car. 2 headrest TVs for the kids, heated/air conditioned seats. Comfortable seats and the ride is comfortable. Lots of trunk space. Surround sound in the car is great as well. The navigation and Bluetooth speaker are wonderful to have.

It is a box on wheels!
The Pathfinder is unfortunately just an adequate vehicle. I have a 2019 platinum and although it is well equipped, the second row sits too low for adults and the steering is dangerously touchy at higher speeds. The CVT transmission makes it drive like a snowmobile as it revs high and slowly accelerates until the speed matches the RPMs. I really wish that I spent a little more money and purchased the Hyundai Pallisade.

2019 Nissan pathfinder - solid SUV.
No problems so far. Nice comfortable seats. Great leg room on passenger side, rides smooth. Good in snow. Air condition is always nice and cold, heater is as warm as ever. Great car overall. Not a lot of trunk space. But great overall. Great steering and handling, pretty decent gas mileage, could be a bit better though. Overall pretty solid SUV, pretty good 4x4.

Solid performance in comfort.
My 2019 Nissan pathfinder is a reliable vehicle. So far in the past year we have encountered no issues of any kind and the vehicle has lived up to it is potential. The 4 wheel drive has come in handy. We live in WV and usually have at least one snow storm. Last winter my Nissan ate through the snow with no problem, like it wasn't there. It was a good purchase is my belief so far.

Nice vehicle but not for big families that need to use all seats.
It is a nice a vehicle but it's not really made for families that need to use the third row and still need cargo room. The second and third rows are inconveniently set up with 3 seats on the second row and 2 seats on the third row. It would have been better if it had pilot seats in the second row and the 3 seats in the back. As I mentioned, there also isn't much cargo room. If you need to fit a stroller in the back, you will not have much room for groceries or any bags unless you are not using the third row.

Great vehicle for a family not for outdoors anymore.
The car drives very smooth. It handles just like all standard SUV. The car no longer feels like it can actually find paths, it feels like driving a car just higher up. My kids love it. They have all the space in the world. The 3rd row is extremely useful with my large family. Lots of space in the trunk.

Nissan pathfinder is a four wheel drive.
It is a good car that drives smoothly. It is not the most touch sensitive car sometimes I feel like I have to step down hard in the engine. It does not have carplay which is something I dislike. I do not find that it has that many features but overall it is a good car to drive everyday.

What Do Critics Say About the Nissan Pathfinder?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder offers all the features of a minivan in an SUV body, with good owner satisfaction scores as it ages.
  • Edmunds rates the Pathfinder at 4/5, enjoying the standard advanced safety technology features, but doesn’t like the firm suspension.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Pathfinder a 4/5, praising the dependable V6 engine, but owners don’t like the fairly basic stereo system.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder Have?

Common problems found on the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder include issues with the automatic emergency braking system, excessive brake wear, and the stereo system freezing up. Overall, these problems are relatively minor compared to most midsize SUVs on the market, leading to average repair costs as it ages.

Issues with the automatic emergency braking system are the most widespread complaint on the 2019 Pathfinder, showing up at around 5,500 miles. Usually, the problem has to do with a sensor issue. Recalibrating the sensor costs around $100, but if something has broken or damaged it then a replacement is nearly $850.

Excessive brake wear has also been reported by some 2019 Pathfinder owners within the first 15,000 miles. The front brakes in particular tend to wear down quickly compared to some other SUVs on the market, and the pads will need to be changed. A new set of pads is around $200 installed, while rotors are an additional $450 if they have been damaged.

The stereo system freezing up shows up on some Pathfinder models within the first 1,000 miles. There are some software updates available for the stereo system which improve the reliability. Most dealerships will install these updates for free during normal servicing, while others charge around $50 for labor.

There are two recalls on the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder, which is similar to other midsize SUVs from the same year. The most serious recall covers a brake fluid leak into the ABS pump, which could cause a fire. Nissan will replace the ABS actuator for free on affected models. The other recall is for the backup camera, which can be fixed by a free software update.

How Long Will the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder Last?

A well-maintained 2019 Nissan Pathfinder can last around 200,000 miles, which is shorter than some other competitors like the Toyota Highlander. Regular annual maintenance costs are slightly higher than other SUVs, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $514 per year.

As a used 2019 Pathfinder reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the ball joints for $225, wheel hubs costing $375, along with the steering center link which costs $425.

accountCircle Giselle V

It is reliable. The only issue I have had is that the front obstacle sensors periodically will say Obstructed without any obstruction and will clear itself on its own. This creates a problem when utilizing cruise control.

accountCircle ALEXIS H

Very reliable, very good name brand of vehicle. A vehicle for a big family or small. No problems. Also has a backup camera too.

accountCircle Veronica C

Very reliable. This is the second one we have leased and in these past four years we have not had one problem.

How Is the Technology?

Standard entertainment technology is great for a midsize SUV with a standard 8-inch touchscreen, although it doesn’t have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Optional upgrades include a premium Bose stereo system and rear-seat entertainment system.

The base safety technology is very good for an SUV in its price range, offering:

  • Rearview camera
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Forward collision warning
  • Rear parking sensors

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Surround-view parking camera system
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Adaptive cruise control

Is the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder a Good Value?

Yes, the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder is a good value since it offers a lot of practicality with reasonable ownership costs as it ages. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $18,100 to $37,500, making it less than a Honda Pilot or Jeep Grand Cherokee. When new, the price range was $31,530 to $44,560. Depreciation is worse than some other midsize SUVs, losing about 12% of its current value per year.

What are the Different Models of the Nissan Pathfinder?

What Engines Come In the Nissan Pathfinder?

The 3.5-liter V6 engine produces 284 horsepower and is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Fuel economy is good at up to 23 miles per gallon. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph takes roughly 7.4 seconds, providing a spirited performance for its class. Importantly for those with towing needs, this engine allows the Pathfinder to tow up to 6,000 pounds when properly equipped.

What Colors Does the Nissan Pathfinder Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Nissan Pathfinder?

The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder prioritizes comfort, making it an ideal choice for families and long-haul drivers. Its interior is spacious, allowing passengers in all three rows to enjoy ample legroom and headspace. The seats are designed with soft yet supportive cushioning, providing comfort even on longer journeys. Higher trims come with leather upholstery and heated front and rear seats, adding an extra layer of luxury.

Additionally, the vehicle’s suspension is tuned to absorb road imperfections, providing a smooth ride regardless of the terrain. The cabin is also well-insulated, effectively minimizing road and wind noise. On the technology front, the Pathfinder is equipped with an intuitive infotainment system and an array of amenities such as tri-zone automatic climate control, making sure passengers remain entertained and comfortable. The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder excels in providing a relaxed and cozy driving experience for both the driver and passengers.

How Much Storage Space Does the Nissan Pathfinder Have?

The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder is designed with families and adventurers in mind, offering ample storage space to accommodate a variety of needs. The vehicle provides a total of 79.5 cubic feet of cargo space when the second and third rows are folded down. This expansive area can comfortably fit larger items like bicycles, camping gear, or a big shopping haul.

With the third row down and the second row up, the storage reduces to 47.8 cubic feet, which can still accommodate suitcases or a set of golf clubs with ease. However, with all seats in place, the available cargo space at the rear shrinks to 16.2 cubic feet, which is still enough for grocery bags or a stroller. The flexible storage options guarantee that the Pathfinder is ready for both everyday errands and larger excursions.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The fourth generation of the Nissan Pathfinder was introduced for the 2013 model year.

2015: SL and Platinum models have blind-spot warning and rear cross traffic alert systems, equipment packages shuffled.

2016: SV model comes with an optional cold weather package.

2017: Stronger engine choices available, higher towing capacity, upgraded touchscreen, and minor exterior styling changes.

2018: Automatic emergency braking is now standard, more USB ports added, and optional adaptive cruise control available.

2019: Rock Creek Edition styling package offered, more standard driver aids across many models.

2020: No major changes from earlier years.

2022: Fully redesigned for the fifth generation after being out of production for the 2021 model year, features include a new engine, styling, and more technology.

How Does the Nissan Pathfinder Compare to the Competition?

The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder is a nice midsize SUV, offering some great safety technology and a spacious interior, although it may not last as long as some of the competitors on the market.

The Honda Pilot is another midsize SUV which can be found for about $2,500 more. Standard entertainment technology is better in the Honda Pilot, while the Nissan Pathfinder does better in the snow and dirt. We recommend the Honda Pilot since it’s a more practical choice, although both are very similar and worth test driving to see which you prefer.

The Toyota Highlander is a popular choice which can be found for about $4,000 more. The Toyota Highlander has some more standard safety technology, while the third row is more spacious in the Nissan Pathfinder. We recommend the Toyota Highlander since it’s one of the most reliable midsize SUVs on the market.

Oh my gosh yes! It is very safe. There are 3 row seating which seats 8 people comfortable. First row has access to controls for ac/heating. The 3rd row can be dropped down for more room. We had room for boards in the back. You could put them up and have plenty room for your groceries or whatever you need. It has a nice music system in the vehicle with bass. Big lcd touch screen in front. Bluetooth also. Power locks and windows. You can have hands free to talk to whoever calls or making calls. There are 2 drink holders in front and a drop tray with drink holders in 2nd row seating and 3rd row has them on the sides it has great horse power, it will get up and go quickly. It also has cruise control and you can control the radio area on the steering.

Comfortable, practical, stylish, affordable.
This SUV has a smooth ride, great 4 wheel drive. Must keep it tuned or it uses a lot of gas. I have a basic model with cloth interior. Black with a gray interior so it hides the dirt. Seats are comfortable and I am short so I like to be able to see so a SUV is perfect. All controls work with no problems. This is my 3rd pathfinder I really like them.

We love the pathfinder, it rides so smooth and with the winters we have in New England it helps having the auto start, heated seats, heated steering wheel and mirrors. The headrest DVD keeps the rear passengers entertained for the trip. The duel seat memory allows two people to keep their seat, mirrors and wheels settings. The motor has plenty of power for entering highways and passing. The cameras help when backing into tight spots as it has a whole car view.

It is a great car. I had a truck and decided to go back to an SUV. I didn't want small, so this is the perfect size for. Steers and handles great. Love all the features, heated seats and steering wheel, front and back controls for air and heat, side window defrosters, remote start (a big thing for me in the winter). The automatic key does not work at times which causes issues with starting the car. I believe it is because the car is not detecting the key properly causing the connection to fail. Good, safe family vehicle. Tolerable third seat for small kids.
The only issue is getting to the third row with two rear facing car seats in the middle row. In order to get my daughter into her seat in the third row it is easiest to put her in through the trunk. It is doable but is not convenient at all. Once she is older and can put herself in her seat it will be all good.

Roomiest midsize SUV with a luxury feel without the price tag.
I wanted a spacious 3 row SUV that wasn't full size. I looked at almost every SUV available with a luxury feel and fell in love with the Nissan pathfinder. It is very spacious and drives smooth. I can fit 7 adults in my pathfinder easily. I have had it almost exactly 1 year and has never given me any problems. The only problem which is not a big one is the tires are filled with nitrogen because it stays in the tire longer than regular air but it is expensive to refill when compared to a couple dollars to fill all 4 tires with just air. Both my boys love riding with me and boy their dad, everyone who has driven or rode in my car loves it. Coming from a big Infiniti SUV and then a small Cadillac SUV, both very stocked with all the bells and whistles... I love my Nissan pathfinder tons more than both of them. What you get for the price is just not comparable to anything in the same range.

I love the price for an all wheel drive SUV with a third row. It drives well but does not have heated seats and steering wheel. The remote start barely ever works. I love my vehicle for the most part! It has some amazing safety features, but I wish it shifted better and was a bit better on gas. Overall though, it is very spacious and a great vehicle! I love the third row seats and the ability to have a huge cargo space! I also love the all black interior!

Love my Nissan pathfinder platinum with It's great looks and comfortable ride.
I knew I needed a vehicle that would be dependable and last a long time, one large enough to take long vacations in and be comfortable. And it needed to have as many safety features as possible. I needed a good service plan. I found all I wanted in my pathfinder, comfort, reliability, and safety.

Great family car of six with good carseat space.
It a good fit for my family of 6. With an infant car seat and a booster. Space is good. I am a large woman and I still can move around easily. Leg space is good, front and back. There's a 3rd roll. Trunk space is not that great but I usually drop the seat down and were good.

Gas mileage. Smooth performance.
Great in gas mileage. Comfortable. 4wd is easy to locate and use. Smooth ride for long driveshaft. Lots of room for 5 people. Seats can be down from 3 rows to none! Easy to put seats back. Smooth transmission. Under 40 to fill tank. Great radio sound.

Great vehicle for the years.
Pathfinder is a great vehicle. The sl trim comes with a powerful v6 engine that is smooth yet effective with performance when needed. It has never felt sluggish. The 3rd row comes in handy when family or friends come over so we can all take one vehicle but folds flat when not in use for more storage when needed. The leather feels of quality and has held up so far with no signs of wear. The comfort features are nice. Seat and steering wheel warmers are amazing on cold days or even just long trips to loosen up the back. Radio sounds great with USB everywhere. The one downside is there is no apple/android play which is a bummer for a 2019 but phones do integrate with the stereo just not to that level. Overall this is a great car that will suit your needs for many years.

Great SUV for a large family.
I like my SUV a lot. All three rows are roomy. The seats are comfortable and there is an ac vents in the third row for extra comfort. I like that it is big enough to fit my kids but it does not feel so big that I cannot drive it. There’s tons of cup holders and spots to charge phones. It a plus for me and my large family.

Love my Nissan pathfinder.
I love driving my pathfinder. It is comfortable, a smooth ride and I love the space I have. I can easily fit 7 people in the vehicle when I need to. And I love that I do not have to borrow a truck when I need to transport large items. This car helps me feel very independent.

I like the sleek look and simple inside stitching.
It is great but has some issues with noises some of the time. It is too high for me considering my height and stature. I like the color options and the swift look of the car. It is big but not bulky like a mini van. I like the color of my silver car and washed nice and easy upkeep.

Comfortable yet still stylish.
Great family car with room for the kids and pets. The cabin is comfortable with heated seats in the front and middle seats. The 3rd row is great for smaller children or can be folded down for more space for luggage. Drives well and is easy to operate. Gets reasonable gas mileage and has the ability to tow.

Nissan pathfinder, roomy and comfortable, fits lots of little ones!
My nissan pathfinder is perfect for our large family as it seats 7 very comfortably. It is spacious and also great on gas mileage, has a really smooth ride and it is a really nice looking suv. I would highly recommend the pathfinder to anyone wanting a roomy suv rather than driving a minivan. The pathfinder also has another excellent feature, the rear camera and notification of anything behind the car as I am backing up. This gives me real peace of mind since I live in a block with lots of small children. Overall I am very happy with this suv and recommend it highly.

Review of my Nissan pathfinder biznatch.
To date I have had no issues. My vehicle has run great, I have kept up with checkups, oil changes, etcetera since making the purchase. The vehicle is very reliable, and making trips is very comfortable, especially considering the trip is made with myself, fiancé, our two kids and all our luggage, very spacious.

Wonderful car, I would highly recommend buying this car.
I love this car! I really have no complaints that I have about this car. This car has wonderful safety features. It is very comfortable to drive. I frequently drive long hours (6-10 hours at a time) and I am always very comfortable. I highly recommend this car it is fabulous.

2019 pathfinder - comfort and cool.
Battery died unexpectedly, and it turned out to be an aftermarket battery, which wasn't under warranty. Otherwise, performance has been great, and the SUV seems to do well. Gas mileage is not the best, but for day to day driving it is ok. Seats are comfortable, although on hot summer days, the leather gets pretty hot. The ac is pretty powerful though and cools things off well on hot summer days.

Great family car, perfect for the winter!
Reliable car, love the heated seats and remote start in the winter, great 360 cameras for reversing out of the driveway. Good third row, though can be tough to get into third row, which converts into extra trunk space. Easy open trunk helps us load shopping. Very safe car for me and my family.

Great SUV with all the bells and whistles of a top SUV with less costs.
The Nissan pathfinder sl is a very strong vehicle with many strong features such as all wheel drive, navigation, cameras all around, power front seats, third row seating, fog lights, etc. It had the side roof rails installed so it was easy to install a roof rack myself. The engine is very strong as well. Since the middle row is not captains chairs it makes getting into the third row a challenge if you have car seats installed.

I love my car because of all the wonderful features like the leather seat.
Have no problem currently. Love the front and back camera. Love the blind site alerts. Warm or cold seat depending on the weather. Adjustable seat depending on driver height. Large trunk. Foldable chairs to create more trunk room. Easy to open trunk. Leather seat.

Fast, reliable, roomy, and cozy.
The pathfinder drives and rides so smoothly. It is very roomy. The seats are comfy for short or long trips. It holds 8 passengers so all my kids can have a friend with them. It has the pick up and go I need to get my everyday errands done. It is been a very reliable car and I cannot wait to have it for many years.
