Nissan’s Sentra sedan for 2015 sees a number of big improvements including new standard features such as Bluetooth, a USB port and cruise control. The SV trim gains Intelligent Key, rearview camera and a new Style Package option. The SR gains heated front seats plus features from last year’s Driver’s Package.

Interior Features

High-quality materials, electroluminescent gauges and a tasteful, contoured design help create what is arguably the finest interior in all of Compactsedanland. The rear-seating area is another inside highlight of the 2015 Nissan Sentra, offering back-seat drivers more legroom than some of the smaller midsize sedans, along with similarly generous headroom. The theme continues all the way back into one of the category’s biggest trunks. The Nissan Sentra sedan is roomy enough, in fact, that it’s one of a handful of compact sedans classified as midsize by the EPA.

Exterior Features

Softly sculpted sheetmetal, substantial proportions and shiny-object LED headlight accents and taillights all combine to give Nissan’s 2015 Sentra sedan class-above parking-lot presence. All models feature a chrome-finish grille, chrome-finish door handles and body-color painted side mirrors, while up-level versions feature alloy wheels, fog lights and side-mirror-integrated turn signals. The sportier-looking but similarly tuned Sentra SR includes a rear spoiler, chrome exhaust-tip finisher, unique 17-inch alloy wheels and other sporty add-ons all around.

Driving Impressions

No one expects the 2015 Nissan Sentra compact sedan to light a fire under the enthusiast driver’s seat, but as daily commuter we think the Sentra does an excellent job of combining good handling with a comfortable ride. The Sentra’s CVT transmission is one of the best in the industry, and with so many other competitors moving to this more efficient form of selecting gears, the once awkward feeling of driving a CVT now seems commonplace. The Sentra’s electric power steering is nicely weighted and, although not as interactive as the system in the Mazda3, we think it’s better than the setup in the Hyundai Elantra and Kia Forte. The 130 horsepower offered up by the Sentra’s 1.8-liter engine isn’t going to win any races, but it’s enough to keep up with the Toyota Corolla and Ford Focus in both acceleration and fuel economy.

Pricing Notes

With Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) tags ranging from just under $17,500 to more than $23,500, the 2015 Nissan Sentra is priced in line with its competitors on a features-per-dollar basis, between the Ford Focus at the high end and the Hyundai Elantra at the low end. Looking ahead, we expect the Sentra to hold its value better than its predecessor and better than the category average. The 2015 Nissan Sentra compact sedan shouldn’t cost you significantly more or less than its competitors in the long run, but it qualifies as a solid value because it feels like a more substantial, more refined car than many of the others. The base-model 2015 Nissan Sentra S comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, a 4-speaker AM/FM/CD/USB/aux audio system, electroluminescent gauges, power windows, power mirrors, cruise control, auto headlights, keyless entry, basic cloth seats, 60/40-split-folding rear seat, a 4-way adjustable steering wheel, 16-inch covered steel wheels, and a modern complement of active and passive safety features including six airbags and electronic stability and traction controls. A fully loaded 2015 Nissan Sentra SL includes a moonroof, leather seats (heated fronts), rear disc brakes, more stylish 17-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control and automatic headlights.

Under the Hood

The Sentra’s 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine is among the least powerful in the segment, but we can attest that it moves two adults up to highway speeds just fine. With four adults, though, highway merging might require a bit more planning. In addition to the CVT there’s a 6-speed manual transmission available, but only on the base model and it delivers about 50 fewer miles per tankful. The FE+ grades achieve one more highway mile per gallon with some aerodynamic adds and low-rolling-resistance tires, but it’s mostly a marketing ploy (40 mpg is much sexier than 39) and not worth the extra $400. Even if you drove exclusively on the highway, the FE+ package would save you just $25 and 10 gallons per year (at $2.50/gallon, 15,000 miles/year).

Nissan Sentra! The perfect review.

2015 Nissan Sentra FE+ S

The Nissan Sentra is a very reliable car. The gas mileage is amazing, and the comfort is splendid. Performance is great with two feature labeled eco mode and sport mode on the vehicle. Comfortable seats and very roomy with a lot of space for friends or other people to get in the car. I've never personally experienced any problems with the car, it has been very good to me since I've purchased the car. This car is very reliable. I've gone over 40,000 miles before I had to get new tires, the car is very safe. I've been involved in one accident but the car left me standing! There are not really a lot of features with the model I've gotten. It comes with a USB for USB enabled devices to be plugged in. Bluetooth for talking but not music, and has great speakers for standard speakers in the car! The trunk is very spacious, and can hold a 65' TV with the seats folded down! I've driven the car to very far places before and it drives like a champion. Plus the oil changes are very cheap for the car. Unless you get full synthetic, then of course it'll be pricey than normal.

2015 Nissan Sentra SV

Car is a great daily driver, great on gas and comfortable for small family. As my first car right out of high school it was an extremely responsible choice on my part. I've had the car for a little over 2 years now have had no serious problems or issues with the car. I drive 30 minutes to work and take monthly trips that are about 300 miles to get to my destination. As my daily driver on fairly flat surfaces I think it's great. Where it falls short is going uphill. I notice it struggles a bit but does compensate with the sport mode and overdrive. Pretty much both buttons just up the RPMs to give it more power. So it can handle hills just me personally I don't like having to resort to those buttons too often. The Eco mode tho is a lifesaver I average just above 33 miles per gallon which I think is awesome for how much I drive. So as a daily driver to work and home and occasional trips I think the Nissan Sentra SV is a solid 8/10.

Good car not completely appreciated by jaded owner.

2015 Nissan Sentra SV

Love the interior features of my car, leather seats, heated seats, extra interior lights and cup holders. The style of the exterior is sleek and the paint color is an unusual dark blue. But to the important things, I do have a concern about gas mileage, it has gone from 31 to 28.9 in 8 months and I am concerned about a rattle that has developed under the car that the dealership has not been able to identify and fix. The car performed nicely in all the snow this winter but the windows had a problem icing up on the inside which is annoying. Pickup and performance is as expected and the braking system is working fine. It is a comfortable car to drive and ride in. All in all, it is a good car. I had to trade a Land Rover small SUV, which I loved for more than 100,000 miles for it so that I do not completely love a sedan is expected. I am sure anyone else would love this car completely.
