FU Nissan!!!
I purchased the 2012 6-sp Pro-4x brand new. I have taken my car in for all it's maintenance and items that may have needed to be done where taken to a reputable company who wouldn't up their cost by 120+%. At 24k miles, I had to have the clutch pedal stop fixed/replaced. 30K miles needed rear differential pinion seal replaced & had to argue the matter because they said it wasn't under warranty but going back to the date it became an issue & thank god someone put it on my acct. And that date was w/in my warranty; they (thru gritted teeth) finally fixed. EXACTLY 50,479 miles and my CLUTCH had to be replaced! WTF!? 50k and clutch goes out and of course past their puny warranty, NISSAN CORP refused to help, basically treating me as slightly better that the s**t they stepped on. 66k miles, car starts stalling due to Crankshaft sensor needing to be replaced. I had a friend (at a reputable shop) that would work on my car and not only himself, but another person told me I had SALVAGED parts on my car. I brought this to the attention of the service manage/big wig and was treated like an idiot, he was rude & an overall d**k because he probably knew I was right. I bought this brand new!! So yeah, F*CK YOU NISSAN!!! THANKS FOR STANDING BY YOUR COMMINT OF, :Nissan’s Global Code of Conduct contains our core principles for doing business with honesty and integrity, in full compliance with established laws and regulations in all locations in which we operate." Never again will I buy anything Nissan related.

6-speed manual
Traded in my 2009 xterra for the 2012 pro-4x. These trucks are indestructible. Great in all weather, durable, reliable and can haul stuff. Love the manual transmission. Only have 35K miles, so expect to own this truck for many years. It’s my winter driver.

Lots of miles and still going.
Very functional car, I like that the back seats fold completely flat. Gas mileage is not terrible for being an SUV. Have had no issues since I purchased the car with less than 5,000 miles and now have 108,000 miles. The back seats are somewhat difficult for people that are either y'all or less mobile to get into due to the wheel well, but is fine for most people.

People should know that the Xterra is overall a good vehicle even though it has faults.
To begin with, I like the sporty look of the xterra. Also, it serves my needs well as it can pull my kayak trailer with no problems and I can haul the equipment in the back. When shopping there is plenty of room to load the groceries. However, the back seat is difficult to get into as the doorway is small but once you get in the stadium seating enables you to see out the windows better. Also, it is not a smooth riding vehicle.

Xterra is a great dog show vehicle.
I like the height. I like the 4 wheel drive and the gas mileage it is too high for some of my older friends to get into. It is easy to clean and can tow my small RV trailer. This is my third tera.

Low maintenance adventure vehicle.
This car has been a very reliable vehicle. We have only ever had one issue with it and that was that the battery had a spark plug that disconnected we were able to get it fixed quickly. It is very comfortable and is a great adventure vehicle. Complaint would be that the parts to the car are expensive if things need to be fixed.

2012 xterra can it all, from road to dirt!
I have had my xterra 7 years and absolutely love it! I have never had any issues with it. I keep up with regular service. Great as a daily driver or off road! Fits all the great for weekend adventures, moving furniture and spacious for people. Very upset that the xterra line has been discontinued.

Tough SUV with reasonable gas mileage.
It is comfortable, has 4 wheel drive so it goes anywhere, and gets reasonable gas mileage. It has a large cargo space. I like the style, which is rugged looking and it is different than any other SUV on the road today. Nissan no longer makes this model.

The best vehicle I have ever had.
I love the vehicle. I have over 125,000 miles with no issues aside from routine maintenance. The vehicle is great in 4 wheel drive off road, also in bad weather conditions. Very spacious interior! My husband is tall and loves how much head space he has when driving my car.

That its roomy an it has great gas consumption an it has high wheel clearance.
It has good gas consumption, it has a high wheel clearance an it has room for enough passengers to sit comfortably.

Fun for daily or weekend off road trips.
No problems that I have had and it a reliable car. It is good for going off road and it work good for city and cross state drives. This is the second xterra I have owned and I would not pick another car as a daily driver. It gets good gas mileage and it requires very little to no maintenance.

Solid, rugged, reliable vehicle.
Since this vehicle is built on a truck chassis, the ride can be a bit stiff. Overall, the vehicle has ha minimal mechanical issues. Other than premature replacement of rear shocks, twice, the vehicle has been sold. Fuel economy averages about 21 miles highway and 15 city.

Xterra review from a dads perspective.
Great car space wise for having two kids. Gas mileage is decent for a mid size SUV. Could use a bit more space between seats for having two children it can get a little cramped on long drives out of town. But very reliable have had zero major issues. Would recommend to anybody thinking about buying a Nissan xterra. Would school around as prices vary very large. Have heard it can be top heavy but never quite experienced any kind of frightening turn with it. Always check the tires as my spare that came with it was a different size than the 4 already on it which was very strange.

It's great for going off road.
Love it for going off road. I also use it for hauling lumber back from the hardware store. Which i like. It is also comfortable on trips. I do not like that it does not hold the lengths or a full sheet of plywood that my suburban used to. I also do not like that it is high to step up into it.

Does it fit for your personality? It it doesn't then it probably isn't for you.
I like that the back interior is plastic. I like the shape. I dislike that the alternator is on the bottom of the engine. Poor design mechanically.

A lot of space in a small box.
It is a pretty reliable vehicle… but I do not find the seats to be super comfortable… does not have a lot of extras on the inside… but it is overall I would give it a pretty good rating because I do think that we can do a lot with it and it does have a lot of room for not being super big.

I can fit my entire drum set in the xterra, It's a 7 piece with 12 cymbals!
I love my Xterra, it is the perfect size and doesn't break the bank on gas bills. Great and easy to maintain, with a ton of safety features. Drives well with some get up and go, very fun. Beautiful dark green color makes me smile everytime.
accountCircle Brittany S on August 27, 2020
I like that it can go off roading and tolerates roads that are not smooth.
It has held up well and been reliable. I have not had any major problems yet, just the usual up keep. I enjoy driving it, although it is not very smooth. Nissan seems to hold up well to a lot of time and miles. I would get a Nissan again because it is a good value.

That I have never had any major repairs needed for the vehicle. Just routine maintenance.
I like that the Nissan Xterra is a mid size SUV that was affordable for me when I needed a new vehicle. The only dislike I have about it is the fact that I could not afford the top model at the time.
accountCircle Natalie J on July 31, 2020
Your perfect adventure buddy!
I honestly love my car. It is super reliable and can get me where I need to. It is my daily driver but can take me in any adventure I want. The front two seats are spacious. The trunk has plenty of room. The only issue is the back seat is smaller than I’d like. You can fit 3 small people, squished. With a car seat you can only have one other person riding in the back. But generally we do not have more than 4 people going on adventures.

2012 Nissan xterra pro 4x.
For the most part the xterra is very reliable. No real issues. One annoying issue is a rattling heat shield from under the truck. Annoying but nothing major. This is my second xterra and the first one never had any major issues either. The current one has a leather interior that is nice to have.

Great used vehicle, would recommend.
I live in an area that experiences snowy winters so a vehicle with 4wd is important to me. I love the look of this vehicle, and how roomy it is inside. I like the size, just big enough. The seats are probably the most comfortable of any vehicle that I have owned. I purchased this vehicle used, but it was very well taken care of so I have not experienced any major issues yet. Sometimes if it is damp or dusty outside, the brakes will make a little noise. There is also a spring somewhere that squeaks a little, but that is all. There is not a screen or back up camera, but I don't really mind.
accountCircle Valerie B on July 12, 2020
Good vehicle... Great for all types of weather.
This vehicle has been very reliable. The 4 wheel drive works great in the snow..I love the interior because it's very easy to clean and hides stains well. The stereo system is not great. I would recommend putting a custom stereo in. The back is very roomy and very comfortable on long trips. Gas mileage is decent for a SUV.

2012 Nissan Xterra review.
The room in the back is amazing! I sleep in it all of the time. Can fit multiple pairs of skis in it as well. Roomy for 5 people as well. The off-road capability is great, and has a lot more clearance than I usually give it credit for! The cloth seats are nice. It is narrow enough to fit down some roads other wider cars cannot.
accountCircle Brad H on July 8, 2020
Good for winter, snowy, weather.
Great vehicle overall. Gas mileage could be a little better. Handling and performance is good. Would buy again but they no longer sell them in the us. Hope that Nissan will bring it back in the near future. Hope this was helpful to those reading this review.
accountCircle Lynne W on June 20, 2020
Easy to handle great gas mileage but not big enough.
It handles well and it is easy to drive, my only issue with that is I would like something a little bigger. I do like the fact that we can carry things in the back and still have four people sitting in the car. I also love that it is four-wheel-drive.

Big truck, comes ready to play.
The Nissan xterra is just an old-fashioned, body-on-frame, type of SUV. The last year of manufacture was 2015. I have owned 2 of these vehicles, and have been very happy with both of them. They will hold lots of cargo, be it bikes, paddleboards, or all of my junk needed to compete in running or triathlon. They are a strong runner in the cold weather, and have both been the best vehicle I have ever used through over 40 Minnesota winters. My only complaint would be with the fuel mileage, which averages 16-20 mpg, but that is to be expected on a larger, robust, vehicle. I will be in the market to upgrade in a year or two, and I do not see a similar new vehicles in the Nissan line-up any longer.

My car needs work asap or I need a new car.
My xterra definitely needs some work. The inside of the roof is falling off and is holded by some wall pinchers. Also the interior of the care where the radio is the plastic part if broken and falling off. Also the seats are in bad condition and are starting to rip. The driver side seat is the worst. Also the alarm that it has is no longer working on one of the doors and it lock on its own sometimes.

Nissan pro-4x Xterra love!
We love the off-road capability of our Xterra pro 4x. It is extremely reliable and low maintenance. The car is comfortable to drive especially on long trips and performs well in all types of weather. 2012 Nissan Xterra s review
This car is extremely reliable I've had it for two years now it has 125,000 miles on it and the engine light has never came on. All I do is keep up with oil changes and other regular maintenance and this SUV has never had any problems. Good on gas better than any pickup truck out there. It has a strong v6 4.0 engine. Great for towing. Performance is good picks up speed quick. Good handling. The seats are okay could be better. The suspension is a little bouncy. Other than that this is a great car. Fun to drive and go off road in. Traction control works great.

Needs more features but great family car for 4
I love my xterra however I have found that it doesn't have a lot of common features that other vehicles have. I wish it has heated/cooled seats due to the interior being leather. It does not have air conditioner vents on the ceiling in the backseat. I find it fits my two children comfortably but I would not suggest it for someone with more children. High wheel wells make it difficult at time to get in the back seat.

I have never had an issue with this car at all. It is super reliable, I have gotten the battery changed one time. Not too many features but it is built really well. It takes awhile for the car to heat up in the winter though, mine personally does not heat up until I start driving.

Have had one problem with vehicle which warranty covered. Took 1 1/2 hours to repair. Drives smooth, a/c still functions well. Had problem with blowout but was not connected to performance of vehicle. Surprised battery still original. Didn't get complete luxury upgrades. Did get what came with this package--more powerful engine, luggage racks on roof, carpet through interior, floor mats, AM/FM stereo radio w/cassette player, great stereo. Reclining seats, fold forward rear seat for more hauling room. Clothes racks, upgraded and locked rims. Pin striped, tinted windows, power windows, trailer towing pkg., step rail. Spare tire is not a donut, wider tires, clock with radio. I've been surprised with performance of vehicle.

Drives great in the winter
I bought the xterra because I need something with 4 wheel drive for winter driving. It's big enough to haul what I need yet smaller than a pickup truck. It's easy to maintain. My one complaint is the gas mileage, 15-16 mpg winter, 18-19 mpg summer.

Classic rugged SUV with style and functionality.
My car is functional and reliable. It has basic features, but is mechanically sound and a rugged drive. It gets decent gas mileage for a mid size SUV. I like the boxy style, which is reminiscent of older jeep models and other original SUVs. However, Nissan is no longer making this model.

Handles well in off road situations.
We take it off road fairly often - it handles well. It also is a 6 speed manual gear and I use it to pick up lumber. Won't hold a full sheet of plywood like my suburban used to but can get long planks in there with front seat back reclined. My husband does wish we had bought the automatic transmission though.

Why I enjoy driving a bigger vehicle.

Lots of room inside the vehicle
I love the design of the Xterra. It's boxy look minimizes blind spots in the back, and gives extra room in the interior. It's a unique design that stands out among SUV's. I also love its' 4x4 performance. I've driven it in all weather types, and it handles really well in snow. It's also extremely comfortable to be in, and the back seat has lots of legroom as well. It's easy to put the back seats down and open up the whole back end for hauling things, which I've done several times. Mine also has a rack inside the back end that can be moved forward or back, or even taken out if needed. It's great to carry groceries in as there are nets to keep things compartmentalized. I also have fog lights which also help in dense fog. I'm just upset that Nissan no longer makes them.
