likeFilled The Good
Excellent infotainment technology, a spacious cabin with upscale materials, and an available air suspension for a comfortable ride.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The base V6 engine is very weak for a truck this large. The latest safety technology is missing, and ownership costs are higher than other trucks.

  • New features for the 2014 model year include an optional diesel V6 engine, as well as new blue streak and granite crystal paint colors.
  • Reliability ratings are average, according to J.D. Power. There are more complaints than in other model years, with transmission issues.

Nice ride and fun features.
Very nice truck. It does show errors about lights not working but I can clearly see that they are working. Love the heated and cooling seat options. The one add on I had to have was the side rails. Very helpful while getting in. Even with the hydraulic lowering it is faster to be able to just hop in

EcoDiesel ram 1500 review super truck.
Absolutely the best small diesel pickup we've ever owned. Rides extremely well with the air ride suspension. 100% would recommend an EcoDiesel ram to anyone looking at a half ton pickup! The gas mileage is super. The towing capacity is nearly 10,000 pounds. Unless you pull massive trailers this truck does it all!

Blacked out express 4x4 crew cab.
I purchased it with 25,000 miles on it and it now has 105,000 miles. I have completed regular oil changes and have had to replace the front brakes once. Tires have been replaced twice since I have had it. Water pump went out at around 100,000 miles and I had to replace the exhaust manifold recently. It also had $6,000 worth of hail damage repaired about three years ago. Other than that, it has been a reliable vehicle.

Overall, the 2014 dodge ram is a good truck for the value.
Plenty of room, great gas mileage, very dependable, great power and a really good sound system are a few good points. The original tires had very bad traction and were not very durable. The seal on the back sliding glass was not good. Otherwise, it has been a good truck.

Go gas mileage. It rides nice. Had no problems with it.

All around great ram pickup.
The ram 1500 is extremely reliable, durable and comfortable to drive. The crew cab, although not as large as the quad can easily fits my three children and dog in the back. I love how easy it is to engage 4wd in the winter months when driving through the snow. I feel very safe and feel that my family is safe in this car. As an added bonus, the ram does not cost as much to fill up as the ford f-series trucks.

The way the truck is built is my favorite.
The only problem we have had is that the water pump had to be replaced. The truck drives with great comfort. The seats have cloth and that makes it keep cool when the vehicle has been sitting out in the sun. It is efficient on gas and the power is amazing.

I just bought it 2 weeks ago & I love that it has lots of room. I wish it had rhino lining in the bed

Don`t buy it!!!
Do Not BUY this car, it has a lot of issues such as EGR valve, ETC (which can take month to find out what really caused the issue), i spend about $4000 every year fixing it.

Don’t buy a ram Eco-diesel, its garbadge
I got a 2014 eco-diesel, it’s a piece of s**t. Problem from EGR valve to speed control system, I pay $5000 every year to tap air this s**t. Don’t buy it, you will save money on fuel cost but will pay way more to repair the car.

Truck looks great and is great when working problem is iv gone through 2 engines on it already thing us at the dealer note then it's on the road has so many problems that I give up the limp mode always comes on now after being repaired over and over the exhaust filter went twice now this time they tell me I'm on the hook for 4000 bucks by new they say be environmentally friendly ya then you end up with the biggest lemon on the market I'm fed up dodge does nothing to help either but blame customers for there faulty product nothing but fiat garbage

Engine reliability!
Let me get this straight, nobody is talking about the hemi engine eating valve guides, destroying heads, and pistons? I have been to a established machine shop here in Houston. They have shown me many hemi engines that have had dropped and broken valve guides! Which in turn destroys engines!

Never again
Where do i start? Leaks. Center exterior light over the back window has been replaced multiple times. Sunroof has some internal unseen structural damage that had to be replaced twice. Electrical- Need to slap the steering wheel spoke to engage the cruise control if it doesn’t work upon initial button push. Center main interior display monitor was replaced twice, luckily I bought an extended warranty cause I had a feeling. Engine- Count me as an owner who also had to have their engine redone due to the defective roller lifters $5k, gone. Rides great and comfy. Got 157,000 miles, front control arms are next to be replaced. Would not buy another dodge product again.

Resolving issues and helping the average owner
CUPHOLDERS/?? Are you serious? Your name must be MORON! We are trying to resolve issue that engineers cannot resolve. Just shut up and listen o the recommendations that average issues that owners are describing and hoping that someone is able to help them.

That your mechanic’s needs to listen to the customers and not tell them they know what they are doing because they don’t and the customer know whatthe vehicle is doing
No because you didn’t know what was going on with my truck. I already paid over $1500.00 and I still have the same problem. The service at the Bouctouche dealership was very poor and I definitely would not recommend your dodge to anyone and I am telling my friends not to buy it and to sell their truck before they have issues because they won’t get any service from the dealership.

What Problems Does the 2014 Ram 1500 Have?

The 2014 Ram 1500 series has more problems than other full-size trucks, and ranks lower than other half-ton competitors. The 2014 model has significantly more complaints than the 2015, and since they are in the same price range upgrading is worth the cost. The 2014 Ram 1500’s problems and recalls address common diesel engine problems, troublesome airbag sensors, and vehicle rollaway.

Transmission and driveline problems are very common according to owners. A bumping feeling while releasing the brake is a frequent issue, and replacing the driveshaft for about $750 may be necessary in some cases.

GPS and infotainment system problems also happen relatively frequently. If the system freezes a lot, the best solution is replacing the radio, which costs about $500.

Engine problems, leading to a check engine light, are also common. A check engine light can be caused by many different issues, and using an OBD-II scan tool is necessary to find the source of the problem. Coolant bypass valves, and fuel sensors are common failures, and cost about $400 to replace.

There are 15 recalls, which is worse than some other full-size trucks on the market. The recalls include cluster lighting, transmission case, shock absorbers, airbags, radio software, battery harness, transmission shift linkage, cruise control, tailgate, EGR cooler, and crank position sensor tone wheel. All are serious and affect the reliability and safety of the truck.

What are the Prices, Models & Specs?

The 2014 Ram 1500’s 10 trims, three cabs, three beds, and three engines let you fully customize the popular pickup truck. When new, the retail price was $25,060 to $49,880. Depreciation is worse than other trucks, losing about 35% of their value in the first fiive years.

First REAL Truck (2014 Hemi Laramie)
I don't understand the negative reviews, those people MUST have bought a Ram from Facebook marketplace and blames the dealer instead of the last owner because I got mine from Carmax in Arlington, Tx and I hve not had any major issues. I am having one slight problem and I remember taking off the fuse for the cigar plug and plugged it back in(checked for blown) and it suddenly started working again. I am having a problem with the AWD service but that could be as simple as a wheel sensor although I probably need to align it first because it's BADLY out of alignment, it's already scheduled at no cost or I can take it somewhere, have it aligned and then reimbursed for it. It's intermittent because it went off one time then back on. It's a 14' not a 2023, it's gonna have it's quirks. Other than these little small TINY level of gremlins, I've had not had any issues with it at all. Although carmax states there's no recalls to list... I did find like 15 recalls from this page i will probably call the actual dodge dealership to check what was done but I mean people will complain about anything these days. They will make a poor choice then blame their hand for making the purchase not themselves so watch the reviews you read. As a former ASE certified mechanic that used to work on these Dodge rams from engines to the tire changes, bumper to bumper. The ONLY reason these have problems is they are EXTREMELY TEMPERMENTAL. You MUST MUST service this according to the book. Most people who own these vehicles treat them like other vehicles, these engines are much different, you must do your oil changes on time, don't put water in your freakin cooling system, do it right the first time and put the actual stuff it calls for. Don't have to be OEM but go to autozone and get the coolant that's made for your engine! This prevents premature failures of the water pump. Most people I've seen with these neglect the heck out of their rams and that's why they have bad leaks and so forth. Don't blame dodge for the "known issues". Most of these "known" issues are user related not manufacturer related.

I love my 2014 Dodge RAM 1500. The hemi is incredible. I enjoy the remote start on hot days and cold mornings. The backseat has plenty of legroom. The backseat converts to create covered cargo space which is helpful for luggage on road trips. The silver color is gorgeous.

It's comfortable, and puts the fun into driving again.
I love my Dodge Ram truck. It is more spacious than many cars. All of my granddaughters fit in the back seat of the full cab. The only real challenge I've had, well I guess there are two. When I purchased the truck the salesman showed how you can flip the console up in the front,so someone can ride in the front. The man fudged when he was asked if an adult could fit there, I did not realize the space would only allow a small child to sit in front, which, I believe, is illegal in most states. The second problem I have is there were no running boards so I purchased the one step kind. My age has not been kind when it comes to my knees, so there are many days I have to get someone to get a step stool to help me get into the truck. The truck handles well both for commuting, and for extra jaunts to the beach or even the Columbia Gorge.

If you haven't driven a ram, it is time you did. Treat yourself.
The RAM 1500 big horn is the nicest truck I have owned. It is equipped with the 5. 7 hemi and 4 wheel drive. It floats down the road like a luxury vehicle and has plenty of torque and horsepower. The crew cab is especially nice for comfortable passenger capacity with plenty of legroom and storage under the rear seats. It handles well in all weather conditions and has a ride height that provides a great point of view in traffic. Very safe. And nothing beats a pick up truck when it comes to moving, anything from raw materials for construction or furniture for family and friends. And believe me, if you own a pick up, you'll be the first person people call to help them move. Overall, it is a safe, dependable, comfortable, powerful vehicle and I couldn't be happier and I highly recommend it. Guts. Glory. Ram.

Ram hits a home run with me.
Ram has had some recalls performed. Performance is great with 3. 92 axle ratio mated to a six speed with a hemi rated 395 hp. More than enough power to pull my landscape trailer. Most of the time I do not even need to use the extra power available. Seats are cloth cushioned and comfortable for my back since I do not do well with bucket seats in cars. Truck is not terribly high up so it is easy for me to use the side hook to pull myself up into the driver's seat. I own the express quad cab so it is got plenty of leg room and head room via the ceiling. Truck bed is a good length to haul items. My RAM has basic features like am FM radio with USB ports to play my iPod. I also subscribe to Sirius radio. The color is metallic steel. It is not a very common color. I like the sparkle the paint gives off the way the sunlight hits the body and the fact that it is a rare color for lack of a better word.

The 2014 ram 1500 is the best truck all around. It is comfortable and practical. It tows 8000 lbs with ease. I have never had any issues with it in the 6 years I have owned it. It's a smooth ride and fuel efficient for a truck.
The only issue I have had with my dodge ram 1500 was the fuel sensor going bad. If you do not keep it over a quarter of a tank it wears out the sensor pretty quickly. The sensors can be pretty pricey and difficult to put in. The only other thing I had trouble with was the grill sensor which is not a big deal if you do not know anything.

Best truck you could possibly hope for. Buy it and eliminate your vehicle woes.
It has the 5.7 hemi so it definitely gets out of its own way. Changed the spark plugs which was expensive initially but does not need to be done again for 100 thousand miles. So you actually save $ the longer you keep it. Electronic steering is fabulous. Eco mode saves mega on gas. Heated and air conditioned seats are a plus and the heated steering wheel sure helped when I visited friends in New York last winter. Warmed the hands quickly and helped ease the pain from arthritis. The individual climate control is great when you have passengers. So is the lumbar controls in both the driver and passenger seats. The back seats both lift easily and a platform folds down with 4' legs filling the rear floor space to make an excellent dog bed or plenty of storage without ruining your seats. I've had to replace the front suspension and water pump after 100 thousand miles. I bought the truck used so I opted for the extended warranty and only had to come out of pocket with $100 dollars. Ive towed over 10,000 lbs with ease. The sound system is superb. 12' woofer in rear compartment adds the extra that all systems need. I recommend following maintenance dealer suggestions I.E. Full synthetic oil, changed every 5000 miles or sooner. Continued tire pressure for excellent gas mileage and handling. The front and rear sensors have helped avoid contact with things that are not visible for such reasons as darkness, fog etc. When maneuvering. The big display screen as well as rear backup camera are so helpful. OnStar superb. It has everything an owner could hope for. I do not have the 4 wheel drive version but believe me. I've gone places that most other trucks would have gotten stuck or unable to pass and had no problem with this ram.

Best truck ever, the power is awesome, seats are comfortable for long trips. Gas is surprisingly well used and efficient. Built tough to last. Never rusted. Sounds great and throaty. I would definitely recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a soil if dependable truck.

All the bells and whistles!
This is my first ram pickup. It came with Goodyear sra. Junk! They lasted just 30,000 miles. Replaced them with continentals. Now for the good. I love this truck. Ram was the only manufacturer that put this many features in a regular cab (two door). The features include rain sensing wipers, automatic high beams, keyless entry, seat heaters, heated steering wheel, backup camera, 8-1/2' touch screen, on screen navigation and on dash display, adjustable brake and gas pedals, drivers power adjustable seat with lumbar and power folding mirrors. It has seating for two people and a full console with remote CD player. I never thought I would ever get into a ram pickup. But ford and Chevy didn't offer this many features in their single cab trucks. Very happy with this truck. Its a 2014 and has 50,000 miles.

Has had no significant problems with either mechanical or electrical systems.
The Dodge RAM 1500 is an extremely reliable vehicle with a very smooth and quiet ride. The hemi engine has enough pickup to keep up in the fast lane and enough power to tow large things such as a boat or camper. The interior legroom is a nice feature especially for people who are tall like me. I have owned 5 trucks in my life and this by far is my favorite one. When it is time to purchase a new vehicle in the future, I will be going with same model.

The way the truck is built is my favorite.
The only problem we have had is that the water pump had to be replaced. The truck drives with great comfort. The seats have cloth and that makes it keep cool when the vehicle has been sitting out in the sun. It is efficient on gas and the power is amazing.

It has automatic start, which is amazingly new to me.
My truck is always reliable. It has automatic start. Which helps on hot and cold days. Rides like a limo, so comfortable. Drives as a dream. Pretty much drives itself. I have not had any major problems..I d iui d have alignments done 4vnew tores. As a precautionary measure. Yes, I would love to have another one.

Very reliable vehicle l!!
I really like my 2014 ram 1500. I have never had any major issues with it. I have had simple problems like the cruise control works when it wants to but other than that it is a very reliable vehicle. I have 118,000 miles on my vehicle this far. I also keep up with routine maintenance.

I absolutely love that truck. It's my baby.
Love the hemi, 8 speed, crew cab, split bench in front, and the 4 wheel drive system. Dislike the shifter knob, and that the interior is cheaply made compared to other brands. I wish they would've made it a little nicer inside, but the newer models are.

Great truck- awesome perks.
I absolutely love this vehicle. The room in the cab is great for me and my dog. I still have a bed in the truck to use for hauling. I love the two front seats have heat and the heating steering wheel. The censors in the front and back are great for when you get too close to objects around the vehicle.

Intermittent cruise control.
The cruise control intermittently works. Most of the time it does not work. I have read the codes from the truck and it says there are none. But, when I reset all codes then the cruise control will start working again for a short while. This has been going on for a year. I need to schedule an appointment to have it looked at.

It's a tow package with the big hemi in it so it will pull about anything and pass any one except the gas station
Great truck no issues better fuel mileage would be way cool but otherwise no complaints. Rides good go as fast as you want it to and plenty of back seat room

Ram trucks are amazing! So glad I bought those
I love this truck! It has all the space I need for me and my family. The hemi engine is very strong and reliable and will last a long time. In addition to the power and space the Laramie package has a lot of nice upgrades such as leather heated and cooled seats, premium alpine stereo and touchscreen. Gas mileage is great for what I need at between 15 - 19 mpg regularly.

It doesn't come with the bed liner so I would recommend either upgrading or purchasing
I like the towing ability and how it feels while hauling. It's very comfortable and roomy. The sound system is great. Plenty of storage areas

2014 ram 1500 quick review.
I love driving this truck. It handles well and you can really feel the power that the 5.7l v8 engine has behind it. The only issue I've had is the step side at the driver door has busted with continued use. If you're in the market for a good truck definitely get a ram.

Every day usage of truck for work and play.
The back end has begun to shake, 165000 miles. The interior is spacious and worked better than any other trucks. My son is 6’8” and is able to sit in the back seat comfortably where he was not in other brands. The extended warranty was worth the cost as I used it to get a new transmission at 175000 miles. I got the 3l and pulled a trailer and ATVs with no problems.

Comfort and ease packed into one.
It is a comfortable vehicle. Big enough to fit myself and my things but not too big to handle. It drives smoothly and I enjoy the features it has in it. In the future, when I purchase my next vehicle, it will probably be a newer model of the ram 1500.
accountCircle michael T on February 20, 2021
Gets up to speed very fast.
I love the truck. It tows very well with a good amount of power for a half ton truck. I wish it had a little stiffer suspension for when I haul my 28 foot travel trailer. Fully loaded it weighs about 8000 pounds and the truck squats a lot more than I'd like.

2014 ram r/t single cab flaws.
The ram r/t flaws are that it is only a 2 seater and it has minimal bed space for big things. This truck eats gas like it is free. If your using it daily it is most likely that you'll have to stop at the gas station multiple times a month. Space instead is really reduced space on the drivers side, you cannot really recline back. Overall it is a good starter trucks but not a daily.
accountCircle Tony R on February 17, 2021
This vehicle tows tons and still gets you great fuel mileage
Excellent fuel mileage and towing for a 1500. Interior design took some thought. Too many sensor problems in the engine

Load capacity is great, and lots of cool features.
The truck has really helped us carry lots of things either in the back or in the trunk! I do not think we’ve had many problems. I love that the dashboard shows us so many things- including which tire is low on pressure (that I do not think I have had with other cars).
accountCircle Sheena M on February 15, 2021
Ram is the way to go for anyone from on the job to kid taxi!
A lot of recalls but other than that it is a dream to drive and the sound system is amazing came with stock alpine installed. Heated seats and ac seats easy to control dash steering wheel buttons. Allows you to see miles per gallon and one tank of fuel lasted me for a long 6 hour road trip! Great for the kids and a very safe drive.

Great family truck for on the interests.
I have owned my 2014 ram 1500 four wheel drive, v8 hemi, four door, crew cab for 3 years. It has been a great purchase for what it is used for. This vehicle is used in a family of five with many interests ranging from going to sports tournament, trailering a horse trailer to shows. Would recommend this to anyone looking to comfortably fit 5 and travel.

Love our ram 1500 bighorn.
It is a wonderful truck, no issues and is a reliable and safe ride for our family. We’ve had it for two years. The only thing is the bearings wear out quickly but that is an easy fix. Handles all terrain and tows like a champ. We love it and are considering getting a 2020.

2014 dodge ram 1500 quad cab short bed.
No major problems, good mileage, runs great, still looks good. I would definitely get another dodge ram when it's time to replace this one. Interior is very functional, especially the Sirius radio with the rewind feature. I don't know of any other trucks with that option. Can easily get near 20 mpg on the highway with the 5.7 hemi. Not bad!
