The 2016 Ram 1500 has an efficient high-torque diesel engine option. It has a quiet and comfortable cabin, and the 8.4-inch infotainment screen is better than its rivals.
dislikeFilled The Bad
It doesn’t have the latest safety technology, tows less weight than its competitors, and reliability ratings are lower than other half-ton trucks.

Does exactly what I need it to do.
I love my ram, it is roomy, a comfortable ride, don't ride like a big truck. Has plenty of space under back seat for small items.

Love my 2016 dodge ram 1500.
I love dodge. This is my 3rd truck. They're cheap, reliable and easy to work on. This vehicle is very comfortable, I can seat 5 people with ease, and everyone is comfortable. Had a large bed, you can haul just about anything. Gets very good fuel mileage.

Comfortable and reliable.
This is a very reliable vehicle. The ride is smooth and comfortable. The controls are easy to get too. The seats are comfortable.

2016 ram 1500 bighorn crew cab.
My truck is super comfortable to drive and rides super smooth. I have 35” tires and it really does not affect my gas mileage. Rams are one of the most reliable and comfortable trucks in my opinion. Performance wise with only and aftermarket exhaust and cherry bombs I can spin tires launching from a stop sign.

Amazing for the small-time or big-time farmer.
I recently switched from a jeep patriot. This truck is great for my small-time at home farm, and is already my favorite vehicle ever. The bed is very useful. The 4wd in low makes this a monster, no road is too rural now. I love the seating, especially the 3 cup holder design and the bench seat. Makes it easy to get around with a lot of people, or even your dog.

Powerful with great fuel efficiency
It has a v6 diesel engine that gets great fuel economy and is powerful. The ride is comfortable and smooth. It looks and sounds good too.

This truck is unstoppable.
The ram truck is very reliable. I have had no issues with it. I do not like that most trucks come standard with goodyear wrangler tires. They wear out extremely fast. Your lucky to get 25-30k on them. The truck is very comfortable. Has outstanding towing capacity as I pulled a travel trailer weighing well over 9,000 lbs across the country with no problem. The cd player is located in an area that makes it unusable, but with bluetooth and xm radio it is really not needed.

It's fast and steady and it looks good, rides nice.
I like that it runs good and smooth. I dislike that is uses a lot of gas.

Stay away from 4 corner air ride in cold climates
I have a 2016 Ram ecodiesel..love the truck except the air ride suspension. As soon as it gets minus 15 c pr colder it wont work. To fix a 1500 buck options ..the dealer wants 6 to 7 thousands bucks ...the lieing sales person said no problems with air ride at all...and no help from Chrysler...just sell c**p suspension and tape you when need the junk fix...if I can get that changed over to normal suspension then the truck be a 5 star ...next truck be a Ford or Chevy...since Chrysler cant help fix a MAJOR problem in there stupid design

Knob gear shifter is a big negative and they do not hold value.
It's an ok truck. They lose value fast. I am a year into mine and I already have $6000 negative equity. I am not a fan of the knob gear shifter. I have grabbed at it a few times trying to turn the radio down. A Lot of things in the truck are cheaply made.

Multiple Electrical/Mechanical problems.
I purchased my 2016 Ram Sport V8 new off dealer in Wentzville Mo. At 20k miles the truck developed major vibrations at 80mph. Ram sales/service dealer in Lexington Ky required purchasing four new tires before they would look at vibration issue (my tire were still tread gage green). After multiple times to the shop, I was informed that i must have hit a pothole because the rear driver side wheel (rim) was "out of round" (not covered by warranty). At 60k miles electrical issues started happening. Front park sensor intermittently goes on/off, center dome/map lights dimly flicker when pressed and turned on. Rear brake light went out. I receive random "low wiper fluid" warnings at random when it's completely full. All of that has been going on for about the past year.....The latest issue is a drained battery four times in the past month. Battery checks out as good when tested. I have owned many Dodge/Ram trucks (98 Dakota sport, 3500 V10 8ltr, 2005 1500) and never encountered problems like I've had with this one. When I Ram told me the rear wheel/rim was "out of round" due to hitting a pothole and not a defect or covered under warranty, that told me exactly how tuff and capable this truck is. Apparently, when the company makes references to off-road, work truck, durable and the often heard "Ram Tuff" they all mean something less to than POTHOLE CAPABLE for this make/model. Unfortunately, this will probably be my last Ram truck. I can understand and expect the occasional electrical/mechanical problem if fixed/repaired without hassle. The reason Ram trucks lost my support is... If I believe Ram was correct and the wheel/rim bent due to a pothole then I have to concluded the truck isn't in any way built tuff or durable enough to withstand a pothole.... Or....and this is more likely... I have to believe it was really a defective wheel/rim. Which means that the authorized Ram dealer/service facility who brought in a specialist directly from Ram to determine the vibration issue came up with the pothole story as an excuse to keep from replacing a wheel/rim. This would also mean Dodge/Ram corporation, dealerships, and service departments lack integrity, don't support their trucks, or value me as a customer. Regadless which one somebody believes, the result is the same..... My review is based on my experience and the wheel/rim issue can be verified by the Ram dealer in Lexington KY. All other issues mentioned (electrical) can be verified by Ram. This vehicle and how I've been treated has been a huge disappointment.

Digital so you don't have to go through settings to check vehicles readings.
I love the fact that it is spacious and has plenty of compartments for drinks and other materials people keep inside. The only thing I do not like is that it is not 4 wheel drive and how close the back seat (quad) is to the front seat. Most people's legs will hit the back of the front seats. I have had this vehicle for 2 years and the haven't had any major problems, the only things I had problems with are the cruise control and other buttons on the steering wheel sticking as well as the touch screen radio randomly malfunctioning and having to be reset.
accountCircle chris S
It's a great truck that has the cab capacity to fit both my grown children in the back seat with plenty of legroom for everyone.
I like the style and quality of Ram trucks. But the 2016s have problems with fuel sensors and cruise control that I don't like. Going to try the 2018 or 2019 within the next month.

My truck is great and I love it.
I don't have any problems with my vehicle. The truck is great and I love everything about it. But it does need bucket seats in the back but other than that it's fine. It's very reliable and it fits my whole family and then some. The back isn't very comfy because of the seats but its comfy other than that.

accountCircle Hanna P

Yes very reliable. The only problem I have had is the electrical shifter. I live on a bad dirt road and when it gets to much dirt built up on it you have to crawl under the truck and clean it. Very inconvenient and no one has a better solution.

accountCircle Stephanie R

This is a very reliable truck, we have not really had any problems with this truck other than the usual maintenance; we had to get a new battery 2 months after we bought it, we replaced either a cv boot or u joint (under right front tire). Then we re-tinted the windows and bought new tires and rims. So we have not had to do much since we purchased it.

accountCircle Camron O

This truck is very reliable, fits my entire family and very easy to keep clean! This truck will please anyone that does light work to heavy duty work!

accountCircle Jonathan Z

No major issues. I have 45,000 miles to this point and I have had the coolant pump replaced and just routine maintenance.

accountCircle isabsll s

It generally has had no problems for me! It is a very family friendly car as well with many seats I love it.

accountCircle Sheena H

Yes it is reliable but it is also still under warranty at the moment. We have not had any issues with the truck thus far.

accountCircle Eugene H

None that I have come across, mine is a very base model, which is what I chose, over all a very good truck.

accountCircle Allen R

Very reliable. We have not had any issues at all. The vehicle has never had a recall or problems of any kind.

Performance in the 2016 Ram 1500 series is good for a full-size truck, going from 0 to 60 in 7 seconds with the V8. The towing capacity is lower than average for its class, with a maximum weight rating of 10,640 pounds.

  • The base engine is a 3.6L V6 and has 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque.

What Color Options are Available?

How Big is the Ram 1500?

The 2016 Ram 1500 series is a large full-size pickup truck, and may have some trouble fitting in residential garages depending on the configuration. There are three cabins available including a two-door regular cab, four-door quad cab, and larger four-door crew cab. How Does the 2016 Ram 1500 Compare to Other Trucks?

The 2016 Ram 1500 series ranks 9th out of 14 full-size trucks based on owner reviews, including larger three quarter and one ton trucks.

In first place is the larger three quarter ton GMC Sierra 2500HD, which is a more expensive truck. The GMC has a more luxurious interior, and can tow more weight with its large diesel engine. If you need a half ton truck, the Ram 1500 is a better value, but if you know you will be towing heavy equipment, the 2500HD is the way to go.

A half ton competitor is the Ford F-150, which is also more expensive. The Ford has better reliability ratings than the Ram, but the Ford does not have a diesel engine option. The F-150 is a better choice for a long-lasting truck, and the Ram is a more budget-friendly option.

When there’s no issues ..it’s awesome! But no one seems to know how to fix issues.
Like the gentleman from KY… I have had all the same issue since buying new in 2016 and still experiencing all the same issues because they don’t have the experience and time at dealerships. 2016 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie 5.7L Hemi…. Awesome Truck but..front sensor issues, dome lights flickers, tailgate issues, battery issues, alternator issues, P018C and P018D errors check engine light issue that won’t reset even after fixing problems supposedly. I have full lifetime warranty but what what good is it if it’s in the shop because they don’t know how to fix. I personally think 🤔 there is corruption going on between dealers and insurance all at my expense. Three months at the dealer for a check engine light they can’t seem to reset. Four times for the flickering dome light… I personally think it all has to do with the UConnect. They even replaced computer . Center console electrical issues .. Issues always pop up when uconnect tries to upgrade… you can tell by a full brake pedal thats hard to push when you try to start first thing in morning. Now truck started backfiring and has shifting issues. Constantly searching like. Awesome truck when there’s no issues or I try to ignore them. It’s shameful, but I love my truck.

Solid truck, but overpriced and lacking basic truck necessities.
In a world where many brands of trucks are being turned into overpriced luxury vehicles, I have been very happy with the durability and rugged nature of my ram 1500. I do think they are quite overpriced, and I would never buy one brand new again. I had to spend an additional $4k to get the truck to its best for off-road use and optimal appearance.

I have 16 ram 1500 that I bought so I could pull my travel trailer with. This is the second full summer I have had the truck and it has done everything I can ask of it and more. Living in a rural area makes having a truck essential, and my ram has lived up to everything it needs to.

Technology-wise, comfort-wise my truck cannot be beat. I've wanted one for a long, long time and now that I have it, it's the best thing ever.
My truck is awesome. It's comfortable beyond belief. My entire family can easily and comfortably ride in it. And it is a cool color (yellow).

Love how it handles in rough weather. It incredibly spacious and has amazing amenities. It also is incredibly functional. The only real issue is it gets bad gas mileage if you have the v8 hemi.
It is reliable, well equipped, sharp looking, handles great, just be mindful about the gas mileage.

People should know how fast this truck can be and how much power it has.
I have a Ram Rebel and I love how different it is from all other vehicles. There is plenty of room in the cab as well as the bed. I love the engine in this vehicle and can really move when I need it to.

Change the turn dial shifter.
My vehicle has zero problems, the performance is amazing the seats are mildly comfortable and the only feature I don't like is the turn dial shifter, it makes it difficult to drive due to the radio being right next to it, you don't know if you're going to turn the station or go backwards down the lane.

It is bigger than you would think.
It is overall an okay car. Bigger than most, which takes getting used to. Would recommend. Just takes some time.

It's fast'5.7 hemi engine. It's able to pull a trailer without a problem.
Great vehicle, runs great and helping for moving items. No complaints about the vehicle. My husband and I have travelled (twice) from NYC to Nevada. It drives fast because it has a 5.7 liter hemi engine. Alpine surround sound stereo system with a sunroof. It has the ability to add more upgrades but we also have installed the two work boxes on each side which accommodates a great amount of storage.

Smooth riding and strong horsepower.
Very comfortable to dive. Good motor power. Does take a lot of gas. Back seat is a little small. Just a stock truck. Power locks. Power windows. Back glass opens. Slick design. Four door. No backup camera. Has a good reliability rating. 2 wheel drive. Does fishtail on wet roads.

The fuel economy is more like 15 with city driving. Having a seat cover is a lot nicer.
I love the roomieness and power in the truck. My biggest negative to the truck is the seat can get uncomfortable after a while, and isn't as fuel efficient as i was expecting.

I bought my truck from my place of work, enterprise.
Not a big fan of the knob shifter as far as shifting gears. The seats are fairly comfortable and it is a reliable truck. Sometimes in extreme heat the truck would have difficulty starting. Aside from that it performs as expected in terms of pulling power for a V8 and it pulls my boat just fine.

Great truck with everything you want out of a v8 4x4 truck.
I enjoy every aspect of this truck come from the heated seats and steering wheel to the 4 wheel drive the extended crew cab and tonneau cover. The vehicle has been very reliable and meets all expectations. The quality of the truck is also very good and the truck has great power and functionality.

That it is a smooth ride. Very comfortable on long distance trips.
I like the four wheel drive. It has great cargo space and can go through anything. It also is a great family vehicle

Great, reliable 4 wheel drive truck.
Very reliable as far as running. Back up camera shorts out often, and the seals around the top brake light have failed, allowing water to leak into the truck. Other than those two things, the truck is faithful. It has remote start, and has never failed to start or get me where I need to go.

The tough looking Dodge RAM 1500.
I love the Dodge ram. Very comfortable for long trips. My truck is loaded heated seats steering wheel. Great features. Backup camera is awesome RAM looks like a tough truck. Pulling power is great to. Has a rear window. Leather seats are ok but cannot have our dog ride in truck for fear of holes.

Dodge ram 1500, great vehicle to drive and ride in.
The truck has been great no issues at this time. It is very comfortable to drive and ride in. Love the heated seats and steering wheel. It has all the towing options included and pulls well. It gets good gas mileage. I would recommend it for anyone needing a half ton truck for leisure or pulling campers or trailers. The inside is very nice and functional with extra hidden storage compartments.

Performance and comfort wrapped into one beautiful truck!
I have been the only owner on this vehicle, and as long as you take care of them, you will not run into any major issues. Performs great! Extremely comfortable and luxurious for a truck. With the 8 speed transmission, you do not have to completely sacrifice fuel efficiency for power.

It is a great truck that gets me where I need to go.
Only problem is my engine light keeps coming on and off. I have also noticed the heated seats and steering wheel does not stay warm for a long time, which I wish it would. Other than that I love it. Such an awesome truck I have had so many adventures in.

The truck of the century, for real.
Very reliable and great extra features! It has all the amenities of a luxury vehicle. I also love how dependable it is. Great for hauling heavy loads and trailers. I would definitely recommend this truck to a friend. It also has great sentimental value.
