Great gas mileage so you save money in the long run.
I like it because it is a small car, the color is nice, Bluetooth, great gas mileage and rear camera.

The scion- cost less, but performs expensive.
No problems with the scion! Very reliable car! The IA is not as heavy as the other cars in its class. Extremely great on gas! The IA does include a sport option. Sport induces a greater take off. Scion is the child to Toyota. Scion uses Toyota parts, but with a scion price.

The gas mileage is as good as some hybrids with a much lower sticker price.
It is a great car. It gets over 40 mpg. It came with many extras for less than 17,000 including a back up camera and alloy wheels. I would recommend the Scion iA to anyone looking for a reliable and affordable vehicle.

Toyota scion IA model is an amazing car!
My vehicle is great and has not had any problems. The performance is very reliable and runs great. The seats are cloth and very comfortable as well. This car was my first ever new car with a car payment I got and I do not regret it, it is an awesome car.

Reliability
Bought it at 29,000 miles. Has 50g's now no problems. The transmission fluid change at 47g's. It does have a drain plug and fill hole under air intake box. Gonna change pcv valve under air intake manifold I spent $150 on gaskets order on toyotapartsdeals.com. Great college car for my daughter. This car will run forever with regular maintenance GIG'EM

Great car, great gas mileage, low maintenance.
It's a really great car, even though not a sport car it's fun to drive, gets really great gas mileage and handles really well. Other than the regular maintenance, like getting an oil change, new tires when old ones wore out I have had no problems with this car.

One thing people should know about my car is that it is amazing.
I love the backup camera. I also like the comfortable seats. It cools down fast after sitting in the hot. Downside, The backseat is a little crowded.

The car battery keeps dying.
It wouldn't start the other day, but it was super cold outside. It drives nice. I like how it has a backup camera. I can link my Spotify. The car drives smoothly. One thing I don't like is that the battery keeps dying. When you charge the battery you have to leave it plugged in for a really long time.

Huge lemon do not buy
I am already into this vehicle for almost 5k in maintenance with only 68k in mileage. Infotainment system is now broken and they won’t cover it. Rotors rotted twice and they don’t make aftermarket parts so you have to buy them from the dealership. I had a spark plug failure at 34k dealership said they couldn’t get the error to happen again. Now my check engine light comes on and off with the same error code. I had a 98 Volvo 850 with 350k that ran better and was cheaper to maintain. What an idiot I am for buying this stupid car. Don’t be like me. If you’re looking for a cheap no frills reliable commuting machine buy a corolla instead.

Think of about getting a 2016 scion IA?
The interior of the car is cramped feeling. Very little headroom so I am always ducking to get into the driver's seat. There is not a center console which makes the seating upfront a little awkward too. It is constantly having issues with the Bluetooth connection when I connect my phone. It also burns through gas really quickly, I put about $25 in it every week to week and a half.

I really do not like my car size and the way the seat belt cuts across me.
Too small, air vents are round and difficult to adjust, seat belt crosses over awkwardly and moves up to the neck and will not stay across the shoulder. Most of the things I dislike are cosmetic. It drives fine and has good gas mileage. The trunk is a decent size. The.

It saves me money on gas but is it worth the price tag.
I purchased a new 2016 Scion iA. For the price, it is not up to standards. The brakes constantly make noise. The screen monitor is no longer working. I do like that it saves me money on gas but I don't see this car lasting long.

This car loses value very fast and has had issues since we bought it.
Had transmission issues since it was bought, got it fixed through the dealer. Then the ac went out at 65k miles and we were told we needed to pay a lot for it to be fixed at the dealership. Sometimes the display in the middle turns off, then it switches off being paired on Bluetooth. The Pandora app in the vehicle rarely ever reads on the car so you go to the app on your phone.

My car is very good on gas.
Just really small, runs great, falls apart easily. The larger computer screen is great but has already lost its touch so I can only use its control on the car. But overall it is a great car, super easy to maintain. Gas is also cheap and that is also a plus.

Transmission(torque converter) failure 89k
I really wanted to like this car. Owned it when it was purchased with 5 miles on the odometer. Car would hesitate and stall so badly. Dealer could not even diagnose the car for months. Never again!

Seriously, the acceleration is just awful.
The acceleration is just awful, I basically have to floor it to pick up any kind of speed and it makes merging a nightmare. My favorite feature is definitely the rearview camera - that was a must-have when I was looking for a lease, and it is been a godsend. Other than that the car is pretty comfortable, but I wish I was paying less monthly for my lease.

Great value and gas mileage.
It gets fantastic has mileage and meets my needs. The interior could be more spacious, and it there's a lag when shifting from first to second, but overall is a great car for the money, and I am happy with my purchase. I would recommend it as a commuter car and to save money on gas.

Silver in color, drives fast, good on gas, great features.
I love how fast my car is and how good it is on gas. I drive about an hour to school and then an hour back to work everyday and I only have to fill up at most twice a week. This is not as bad as the last car I had. I love the color of mine, it is silver and it does not show dirt too badly. I also love the touch screen features and how easy it is to make hands free phone calls when needed. I also really love the speed mode!!

Pros from Owners

likeFilled Carlos H.

The 2016 Scion IA is a nice fuel friendly four-door vehicle, with nice mileage for the gallon and is not too big, so parking is fairly easy. Another thing to add would be its ample trunk space comes in handy as well.

likeFilled Jas B.

The car is a big Gas saver, it is compact so it is easy to get into small places and we do not have to worry about parking, push start so I do not have to worry about inserting the key into the ignition, and back up camera is very helpful.

likeFilled Michael K.

The Back-up Camera is very important to me. Automatic transmission is a must. Tinted windows are nice. Gas mileage. Navigation system. Tires. Anti lock brakes. Front wheel drive. Temp gauge. Computer. Clock. Stereo.

likeFilled Jerry V.

It has a very comfortable amount of spacing for seating, it is very attractively styled, rides smooth and handles the road well! Those are just some of the pros, I have yet to notice anything I would consider a 'con'.

likeFilled Andrew W.

The car has excellent gas mileage, it is efficient, and it handles very well. The car looks good interior and exterior, and has great trunk space. I like that it has a sport mode and can mimic manual transmission.

Cons from Owners

dislikeFilled Carlos H.

The 2016 Scion IA has very little leg room, and the sound system set-up is a confusing to understand. If you are a tall individual this car wouldn't be a good fit. Another con to the list would be that the Bluetooth sometimes does not connect.

dislikeFilled Jas B.

The cons of this vehicle is that it is very small and is not made for a family. This is a single person car so I may need to upgrade to a larger car soon since we have a growing family and two car seats do not fit. Also this car is not made for tall people.

dislikeFilled Michael K.

There are not to many cons of the vehicle. The ability to go fast is not there so that might be a con I guess. The price tag is a con a little expensive for me. If I were to do it again I would not pay as much as I did.

dislikeFilled Jerry V.

No 'cons'. If I had to come up with something that could be considered a 'con' - maybe I could say I personally would like a little more trunk space. Maybe I could also say I think the backseat area could use a little more room for proper leg comfort. That's all really.

dislikeFilled Andrew W.

Being a one and a half liter four cylinder, it takes a little extra oomph to get going up steep inclines. Continuously variable transmission was new for me, took a short while to get used to but it once you get the right touch it transitions so smooth.

How Reliable Is The 2016 Scion iA?

At first the Bluetooth would not work but I quickly got that problem resolved and I can say the dealership did help so much with the issue
