Editor's Overview

The aging xB may not be long for this world, at least not in its current form, as a 2015 replacement is rumored to be in the works. The current 2014 Scion xB is a carryover from the 2013 car, a competent player but clearly outclassed by newer vehicles such as the Kia Soul, Nissan Cube and Honda Fit.

Good on gas and roomy and spacious.

It is a small nice car is the backseat has lots of space and trunk space is good on gas I have a text screen TV deck I have Bluetooth connection haven't had any major problems with my vehicle only thing I have fixed on my vehicles as I had it I have had it almost 2 years is breaks when I got my car at 27, 000 miles on it so it was like a new car kind of someone with kids is the nice car to have.

Great for a buyer that wants a simple vehicle.

It is too simple on the interior. I wish it had more interior lighting and that the gear shift panel lit up at night. The front seats are not padded enough. The black cloth interior seems cheaply made and thin. It does not have much plushness. The radio is a HD radio, but the HD does not come in that well, even when I am driving in an urban area.

It is an excellent vehicle to travel as it has room to accommodate luggage.

It is extremely reliable and fuel efficient. I love driving it as it is small and compact. I feel like I have more control over as it is perfect size makes it easy to park and back in to smaller spaces that bigger vehicles cannot fit into. I’d recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a compact but spacious vehicle.

Safety Recalls (2)

Equipment Dec 29, 2014
Report Receipt Date:
Dec 29, 2014
NHTSA Campaign:
14V828000
Summary:
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser, RAV4, Scion FRS, and XB vehicles. The affected vehicles may have accessories installed by SET, such as running boards or other items, that were incorrectly installed. The accessory attaching fasteners were not tightened with the proper torque, possibly causing the accessory to detach from the vehicle.
Consequence:
Accessories that detach from a vehicle may result in a vehicle crash and/or personal injury.
Remedy:
SET will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the affected bolts, free of charge. The recall began February 23, 2015. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET's number for this recall is SET-14B.
Service Brakes, Hydraulic Sep 19, 2018
Report Receipt Date:
Sep 19, 2018
NHTSA Campaign:
18E091000
Summary:
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain Toyota Racing Development (TRD) brake kits, part numbers PTR09-21111 and PTR09-52080, sold by Toyota as an optional accessory for model year 2008-2015 Scion xB, and 2011-2016 Scion tC vehicles. Over time, the brake hoses in these kits may fatigue and fail.
Consequence:
Failure of a brake hose will reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
Toyota will notify all known owners of the Scion xB and Scion tC vehicles upon which an involved optional TRD Brake Kit could have been installed. If the vehicle is equipped with one of the TRD brake kits, it will be replaced with a standard equipment brake kit, free of charge. The recall began November 16, 2018. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is J0U.
