The Scion gets great gas mileage; has a nice stock sound system; sits up high: it is easy to get in and out of, has back seats that fold down, creating a large area in the back to transport things; and is essentially a Toyota.
The car is of compact size so is easy to drive and park. It gets good gas mileage at about an average of 30 mph. The car is very reliable and has had no major mechanical problems for the six years I have owned it.
Excellent gas mileage and a great commuter vehicle. Reliable, dependable, and problem-free. Parts are easily obtainable through Toyota dealerships. Basically a maintenance free vehicle aside from routine oil changes and tire rotations.
It gets great gas mileage, is fun to drive, love that its 4 doors. It is a small car but enough trunk space for weekly grocery shopping. Inexpensive cost, insurance is lower for vehicle type. Great car for single person or small family.
Good gas mileage. Compact, but will seat five. Good standard audio system. Trunk will fit your normal grocery run. Rear seats fold down to accommodate larger loads. Comfortable bucket seats upfront. Plenty of small storage areas.
The Scion rides rough--the suspension is subpar. When driving at higher speeds, there is lots of road noise. The seats are very uncomfortable and there are not many ways to adjust them. You cannot recline them back. There's no lumbar support. The front seat does not move far back enough for very tall drivers.
The cons of this vehicle relate to its size, which is also a pro. But the car is very uncomfortable on long trips. There is also a large blind spot on the drivers side, which can be dangerous if you are not used to it.
Small - not much leg room for passengers. Not comfortable for anyone over 5'5'. Child car seats do not easily install and do not fit well in the center rear seat. Only basic amenities such as AC and power windows. No fancy gadgets at all. Simply terrible in the snow probably due to the lightweight body. Sport tires required which are more expensive. Seats are hard and not conforming so long trips are uncomfortable.
The stock seats are not very comfortable. Because of small engine size, may not pick up speed as quickly as you'd like. Under the hood, everything is so compact that its difficult to do upkeep yourself and special tools needed.
Can struggle to get up to highway speeds when multiple people are in the vehicle. The cabin lets in a lot of road noise and engine sound. The engine bay is smaller making it more difficult to do your own work on the car.
The 2009 Scion xD has an average owner rating of 4.54 out of 5 which ranks it #3 of 30 other Small Cars.
