Have to replace the shocks and then I'll really be able to give a better review.

2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

I like the Subaru Forester but I haven't got to use it the way I would like, so it's hard to know how I'm really going to feel about it. I've recently bought the car used through craigslist and then before being able to take it off road I up and moved to a new state and had to load the car out with a bunch of stuff and in that time the shocks gave out. Before that happened we just drove it around town and it did fine. I wish the AC blow colder but maybe that's because it's an '06 and probably didn't receive the proper maintenance over that course of time. My husband is tall so it's a little cramped for him however I feel perfectly comfortable in the car. The car handles well, it's a little gutless but that's fine. What I really want to know is how well it handles off road since that is why we bought it in the first place. It'll be a little while until we're able to get the replacement parts but I've owned a Subaru Outback and if the Forester is anything like that then there shouldn't be any issues.

Most reliable car I ever owned.

2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

Love my Subaru. It is great in snow and a little mud. The gas mileage runs around 25 mpg in the city. The hatchback was very helpful when I was moving to another state, also with groceries. Like that the back seats fold down for longer items. Easy to read dashboard. Drivers seat is very comfortable. Wish that the driver's seat was power to go up--I'm very short! Both sun guards has mirrors with lights. Would like a little more room in center console to hold phone and other small objects. After all these years I just had to replace brakes once and one headlight. It is the most reliable car I have ever had. Even started right up in 15 below temps. I very highly recommend the Subaru.

Reliable with small problems

2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

I own a Subaru Forester. Bought it used about a year ago. Have had a few problems. Some things are minor like the windshield wipers broke while I was driving down the road. I also had to replace the brakes, and all the parts that go with that. The motor runs beautiful though. I like that there is plenty of room in it for the whole family plus groceries or the family dog to join in the way back. The four wheel drive comes in handy on the back roads and have had no problems with that.

I love my 2006 Forester - an excellent first car

2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

I love my 2006 Forester! I bought it used with 100,000 miles. The head gasket is leaking and I often have to top off my oil, but this is a common issue with Subaru wagons from this era. With proper attention and care the car has been great. It has so many excellent features, my favorite being the sunroof/moonroof combo. So lovely on a warm summer day! I would definitely recommend this car. It is perfectly spacious but also doesn't feel too big. I love it!

Great in the snow and rain.

2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

It's very reliable and handles well in the rain and snow. I feel safe. It's easy to drive and maneuver and backing up and parking is a breeze. However the gas mileage isn't very good and sometimes acceleration is slow, especially on hills. It is roomy and great for families and dogs. The seats lay perfectly flat which makes it great for hauling things as well.

Subaru: Dependable for Life

2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

My Subaru Forester is the best vehicle I have ever owned. The four-wheel drive is dependable and I have never had any issues, after 7 years of owning a Subaru. I would recommend Subaru to anyone interested in buying or leasing a vehicle. My Forester is over 10 years old but has not had any issues

Subaru Forester - Buy something else

2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

I have had to replace lots of things on this car. The suspension system is terrible and everything had to be replaced. The heat/air system failed. The whole exhaust system rusted out. It started leaking before it was even 10 years old. I have never felt the comfort level is high.
