The car has had little maintenance in the past years. It is a great commuter car and is great on gas.
It is reliable and worth every penny you spend to buy it.
accountCircle Jessica M
It is incredibly reliable. I would buy another Toyota in a heartbeat.
The Solara has been an amazing car. It handles well, has superior engine performance, and it relatively low cost to maintain. Over its 12 year life span, there have been relatively few issues outside of standard maintenance.

Toyota Camry Solara best car I've ever owned. Comfy convertible, looks nice
Convertible Camry by far the best car I've ever owned . 2006 bought used in 2016, never had a problem, mechanically or otherwise. Comfortable and nice, I would buy another if necessary. Streamlined, attractive smooth on side streets and highways. Gets around great in the snow and heavy enough to control on icy streets.

2006 Toyota convertible. Unique blue taupe top, interior, out of production.
My retirement car. It is a beautiful blue with taupe convertible top. On the road, still gets 28 to 30 mpg. Ride is quiet and smooth. It now has about 111, 300 miles. Will need cosmetic work next year, new top, paint job and trim. Mechanically I have taken care of it, and they no longer mfg. It.

Toyota Solara are the best
It's a great car, good mpg, runs smooth. CD player, cold ac, heat blows hot, comfortable seats, sunroof, power windows, remote start. Starts up every day. Great for road trips across the country, great on gas with highway mileage. This is all around a great car.

The Solara is a reliable and sporty vehicle.
2 doors can be a challenge but it's a very reliable and durable car. Great gas mileage! There is more trunk space that meets the eye so packing for trips is actually quite easy. The sunroof is a great add on and certainly adds to the sporty feel of the car. Some minor issues with the dashboard quality. This car is also easy to work on so it can be taken to a variety of shops.

The Solara: Sporty look with Camry reliability
I purchased my 2006 Solara 2 years ago with only 42,000 miles on it. Quiet ride, interior space of a regular sedan (but with only 2 doors). It had only a CD player and no AUX in cord, so I had a Bluetooth installed to play music from my phone. Engine doesn't feel super sporty. Seats are not very comfortable. There is an electric back support adjuster on the driver's side, but it's too high up for my 5'4' frame. Besides replacing the car battery, it's had no major problems so far. Sometimes there is a slight lag in acceleration after an idle at a light. That said, this is NOT a sports car - it runs like the 'Camry Solara' sedan it is. I purchased it because I wanted the reliability of the Camry engine (which it has), with a bit of a sleeker look - which I'm thoroughly pleased with! I still admire the looks of the car - it seemed a bit ahead of its time in design. For me, the reliability and looks of the car outweighed any negatives. I'm going to keep this one for as long as I can!

Dependability
At 223+ thousand miles. It's a daily driver . Just needed some lower frontend repairs , but that's normal... Great Car !

Negative Owner Reviews

accountCircle Angelina A
It is bad. A lot. More than you could guess.
It is had a lot of problems with the axel and the starter as of recent. I have had to take it to the mechanic and all of the problems that it has are the most expensive ones. Also, the gas gauge is not true to what it says. It says I have 50 miles left in the tank and it will die on me.

My vehicle performs well and has some good features like the sun roof.
My vehicle performs well. It performs well. I love the sun roof! The only problem I have found is when needing to do repairs it can be difficult to find the parts or they are too expensive. Otherwise I have found I like the turn radius and features like cruise control and buttons on the steering wheel to control the stereo system. I wish there was more than one way to get into the trunk other than just by the key.

It is a dependable vehicle with low miles and good gas mileage
It is a dependable vehicle, but it does not have the high-tech bells and whistles like gps or satellite radio

It's very functional and easy to maneuver.
The car is still in great shape and works like a pro. While it is small and seating may feel cramped at times, it's very functional. Parking is also easier to find since it's a small car. The roof opens up which is awesome in the summers. I do wish that the ability to recline seats would be a better option.

Reliable car even with high miles
Very reliable, do not like that it's a coupe, I like 4 doors vehicles better. I personally think that it is too large and the interior is not the most comfortable. The wheels, always seem to be an issue. As far as the motor goes it seems to be working just fine even with high miles on it.
accountCircle Natasha C
I have had it for almost 6 years.
I like that it is different, it does not look like every other car. I do not like that its old and keeps having problems.

2 door versus 4 door vehicles
Nice car. It is durable. I have the 2 door and I should have gotten the 4 door model. The seats are comfortable and the color is nice. I have seen many on hr road. I would suggest to others to purchase the same vehicle.

My solara need some help.
It has some issues with shocks and its too small. I prefer a 4 door to a 2 door. Also 8 wish it had better gas mileage. I wish it had Bluetooth. I wish it had a CD player. I think overall the car is too small and too old for my liking. I wish to buy a bigger car or a van.

My Solara is comfortable. It is very reliable. It is good on gas. It has a roomy interior. The Solara's trunk is huge, it has a comfortable smooth drive. I have no complaints at all.

Yes excellent it handles very well and gets good gas mileage in town and highway. The convertible top does not leak and has minor wind noise with the top down.

Yes, good gas mileage, great handling, plenty of power, and very quiet for a convertible. Bought it for a fun car but ended up with it as my daily driver.

I am not up on today's value but it was a bit of a bargain when I purchased it three years ago. I believe it is holding. It is value and I could sell it for close to what I paid.

Since I purchased this car used I cannot relate to the price of a new one but I paid around $5000 for it in 2017.

When I bought it about 7 years ago it was around 10,000, I think it's only worth about 1,000 now. I think it should be closer to 3,000

Current value is about $3,500 US. If you consider its age, this is a good value for 2006 Toyota car.
