Both engine choices are extremely dependable, the suspension rides like a luxury car, and there’s plenty of room in the cabin for 4 adults.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The steering and suspension are very dull for the class, interior materials feel cheaper than more affordable rivals, and the base models are missing some safety tech found in other cars.

The Most durable car ever
I haven't had any major problems with this car it as long as regular maintenance check ups are done the car will run forever. I have over 180,000 miles on it and it still runs like new. Because of the Camry I will be purchasing a Toyota as my next vehicle

Owner of 2012 white Toyota Camry.
I have had my car for 6 years now. I have not once had any mechanical issues since my purchase. The car rides smooth and there is enough space for everyone in the vehicle to feel comfortable. Out of every make of vehicles I have ever owned, Toyota is the best.

Sturdy car that is fun to drive.
This car drives great, it handles really well, it feels heavy and sturdy on the road. I didn't know what it meant for a car to be fun to drive until I drove this car. It gets really great gas mileage and is a good size. It is big enough that it does not get blown around on the highway but not so big that is it hard to handle.

Toyota makes excellent vehicles.
I haven't had any major issues with my car or any other vehicle produced from Toyota. The vehicles I normally buy are from Toyota and they always have a good amount of reliability and durability for as long as I have been driving. Not the best looking or most comfortable but it gets the job done.

It is a hybrid, it gets great gas mileage. It has a smooth ride. It is roomy.

Very fuel efficient and long lasting. Also a great family car or starter car.
The Toyota Camry is a excellent vehicle. It gets great gas mileage on the highway and on the street. The maintenance on the Toyota Camry is little to none. Get the Toyota Camry or any Toyota vehicle and you will be satisfied and happy. I have been happy with mine for 3 years.

Great and durable car! Great gas mileage and very dependable.
I really like my car, it gets great gas mileage. Around 30 miles per gallon on average. It is very durable and I have had no problems in the past 8 years I have owned it. It is a very comfortable car to ride in and very roomy in the back. It is also very easy to clean out and keep clean.

It gets me to where I need to go.
I use my car a lot due to car pooling and have a massive amount of miles. I use a lot of gas due to this. Paying door gas and maintenance are my biggest problems. Animals often dive into my car as it looks like the sky or water. People also seem to think my car is invisible.

Only a $600 down payment was needed for this vehicle.
I have had my 2012 Toyota Camry le for two years now and absolutely do not like it. Since I have had it there has been quite a few recalls on it, one was the torque converter which has to do with the transmission, another was the electrical, and the airbags. Since I have gotten these recalls taken care of my car seems worse. Every time it rains my check engine light comes on, I cannot put my ac on passed the 4th notch, and my car takes a while to take off when it goes from being stopped to accelerating.

This car is amazing. I love it because it really gives you satisfaction.
Very reliable. Shock absorbing. I like the fact that it is 4 cylinders. Gas saving. It is a very strong car. I am actually at 29 m/gallon. I had a previous car, I use to travel far and get tired easily, but with this car things are different. I would drive up to eight hours without feeling tired. Mine has leather seats. And everything is automatic. The only thing I realized is that there is some noise coming from the front right side of the car, which I cannot identify what it is. Otherwise, I am satisfied with the car. Another amazing feature that the car has is the Bluetooth option. Before, I use to have difficulties using my phone while driving fearing to get a ticket. UT now, I just hang the phone on the dashboard and drive safely, while I make and receive calls without any problem at all. The car can connect to more than one electronics at the same time.

A damaged wreck of a car.
The car has been in multiple accidents. From being hit by a fallen tree branch, to being hit by two other cars and also driving into bricks. The car currently has four different tires on it. Multiple dents on the top and side of the car. The inside is also slowly falling apart.

2012 Toyota Camry - Complete Waste of Money! Stay Away!!
This particular year model is very cramped. The steering wheel doesn't adjust far enough for taller people. The gas mileage is horrible. The USB ports have gone out 4 different times. My first set of tires had to be replaced after 20K miles. Etc. Etc. Etc

Dependable, reliable and luxury.
Overall it's a good car just not one that I really wanted. It was a need not what the particular one I would hadn't chose. It drives well. It will last a long time if taken care of. Good on gas. Overall a great car to own. Reliable, dependable and can be a luxury.

2011 Camry XLE. Leather. Heated seats sunroof low mileage.
To small. Cannot haul my home projects. Good gas mileage. Good shape. Radio is great it picks up a of channels. Comfortable quiet ride. Ac is a little slow. It is nearly 10 years old. Has a sunroof that is great to use in the spring and summer days. The rearview mirror and side mirrors are tinted to black lights from cars behind me at night.

The vehicle is cool and nice. Good for everybody. It is a low car.
The performance of the vehicle is good, but the vehicle has some flaws. The car is really low so the back and front bumper can easily get scratches or bumps. The car itself is good and has a great mile per gallon which is very convenient. I would recommend this car.

What Problems Does the 2012 Toyota Camry Have?

The 2012 Toyota Camry has fewer problems than other midsize cars on the market. There are more complaints than the newer 2013 model, making the extra $1,500 worth the money to upgrade.

Air conditioning problems including a bad smell when you use the system, are the most common issues mentioned by owners. There’s a design flaw causing the drain line to get clogged, leading to a moldy smell. There’s a recall for the clogged drain line where a dealership will seal the housing.

The audio display going black is another problem. There are some hardware and software issues with the display, and usually the only solution is to replace the assembly. Replacing the head unit costs about $350.

Transmission failures are a rare problem, but brought up by owners. If you notice the vehicle jerking while shifting between gears inspecting the vehicle is a good idea to determine the source of the problem. A complete replacement for the transmission can cost over $4,000 depending on local labor rates.

There are 2 recalls, which is better than most other midsize cars from the same year. The recalls include the occupant sensing system calibration, and a clogged air conditioning drain line can cause the airbag to deploy. Both are serious for the safety of the vehicle.

What are the Prices, Models & Specs?

The 2012 Toyota Camry is more expensive than other midsize sedans on the market with a price range of $10,599 to $15,096, depending on the model and mileage. When new, the price range was $22,055 To $30,115. Depreciation is better than other cars in the same class, only losing about 30% of their original value over the first 5 years.

The car when bought and did not have any problems. Made sure to always change oil according to manufacturer's specifications. Other than that only issues have been to replace tires and will probably need to have brakes done on it soon.

accountCircle Wesley K

accountCircle Diana t

There are no major problems that I am aware of and it has been very reliable so far with no major repairs. Only routine maintenance has been done and the handling is great.

What Technology & Safety Features Are Included?

The 2012 Toyota Camry offers decent technology for the class, but is missing some features found standard on competitors.

  • Base technology includes a stereo system with AM/FM/CD playback, USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as 6 speakers.
  • Upgrades include a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, navigation, and an improved JBL stereo system with 10 speakers.

  • An upgraded 3.5L V6 is available and produces 268 horsepower.

How Does the 2012 Toyota Camry Compare to Other Cars?

Ranking 3rd out of 15 midsize cars based on owner reviews, the 2012 Toyota Camry is near the top of the class.

A very close competitor is the slightly more affordable Honda Accord. The Accord has a more responsive driving feel, and larger back seats with more legroom for passengers. Where the Camry comes out ahead are the lower ownership costs, and more standard technology. Overall, the two cars have been close competitors for years and the decision comes down to personal preference.

One of the more budget-friendly midsize cars is the Nissan Altima. The Altima offers a more fun driving experience with quicker engines, and some higher quality interior components. On the other hand, the Camry has significantly better long-term reliability, and has a smoother suspension which is more comfortable to drive. In the end, the Camry is a better choice and worth the extra money since there are fewer mechanical problems.

Great middle class car, definitely get your money’s worth.
I am a Camry girl for life, it is reliable and affordable. I enjoy driving and will definitely buy another one. The gas mileage is great and I have had no issues with reliability. The Camry is a great car for a middle class mom. You definitely get your money’s worth with a Camry.

Love my spacious Camry! Must buy!
My Camry is great on gas mileage, super spacious, Bluetooth connectivity, and reliable. I have had some issues with the brake pads but nothing serious. Fits 5 people including the driver very spacious. Am/ FM radio as well as Bluetooth connectivity. There is a touch screen to switch radio to Bluetooth. You are able to check tire pressure and mileage on the screen as well. Comes with a owners manual in glove box. The price was pretty good for a 2012 Camry.

2012 Toyota Camry. 6 foot 4 and loving it.
I am actually 6 foot 4, and I find this car to be surprisingly spacious. It has great gas mileage, comfortable seats, and according to every mechanic I have talked to, it is meant to last for a very long time. It does not have all the bells and whistles of some of the newer models, but it is perfectly fine nonetheless.

It has a very smooth ride, comfortable seats, is able to easily fit five people, has a nice neutral color that doesn't stand out too much. Cozy interior, built in navigation that is useful for travel so you will not get lost on your journey. It's a good, well maintained suitable car.

Best vehicle I have owned. 100% would recommend!
I have had my 2012 Toyota Camry for over 3 years. I bought it used at 32,000 miles. It is only my 2nd car I have owned but compared to the last car I had, I really love this one. It has black and grey interior, which I love, and the seats are a hybrid of leather and fabric which makes the interior of the car look even nicer. The car is very reliable and has caused me no problems all these years.

The handles on the car come off. Initially I thought it was just the drivers side because I use it so often. The handle on the back door came off as well. The car is really good on gas. Toyota Camry: reliable and comfortable.
Reliable vehicle that has had no mechanical issues. It is very safe and rides very smooth. The only complaint I have is the ac system. It takes awhile to produce cool air during hotter seasons. The paint has no issues even when exposed to various elements like extreme sun or ice. The trunk is very large and can fit five large suitcases easily. The cabin of the car is able to fit taller individuals comfortably. On average 4 adults can ride in the cabin with plenty of legroom and space.

My car is pretty old and requires quite a bit of repair every now and then. But other than that it is a good car and gets me to the places that I need to go. I am thinking about getting a new car though because you have to unlock it from the driver’s side first and then unlock all the other doors every time and it can be a bit annoying.

The nicest car I have owned.
The car handles extremely well. Especially in the snow. I had better gas mileage when it was newer, but I expect that is the same with all cars. The only problems that I have had with the car is not actually the car, but the tires. In the winter time they have issues with holding the air in them. The air conditioner and heater function better than I had expected and I have had zero problems with them. As long as you change the oil and get all the required maintenance performed on the car, you should have no problems. I did have an issue with a piece of the door trim falling off. The automobile is very comfortable to drive. Other than what I have stated, I am extremely pleased with the automobile.

I bought my car from my aunt when I turned 18, this is the first car I have ever had. I am 21 now and it is just now starting to give me slight problems but that is because I do not do regular trips to the dealership and have my car looked at and oil changed on time every time it needs to be changed. This car is very reliable, it is a Toyota for crying out loud. Give it oil changes on schedule it will last forever. The only problems I have are typical high mileage problems, nothing out of the ordinary. Also very reliable. I have only once had it break down on me, and that was due to the radiator cap busting after 120k miles. Comfort is probably about an 8/10. There are some problems because this is an old model but overall it is working good. There is maintenance required and sometimes it is hard to change the oil. Some things need to repair but it is working very fine. The appearance is not as good as the new model.

Amazing vehicle for a college kid or anyone.
I love my Camry. It is a great and reliable little car. I bought it when I moved to college and have only had to get oil changes and tire rotations when the services are do. Even though the car is an older model, it still rides really smoothly. I get 29 mpg in the city so I have to fill up once every 2 to 3 weeks.

2012 Toyota Camry le insight.
I really like my car. The only things I wish were different is the radio is not Bluetooth and I have cloth seats so the smell lingers days. It drives pretty smooth until I hit 100k. Changing anything or doing work to car is not cheap but not too expensive and can be done however it runs on synthetic oil and that is more expensive.

Toyota Camry is a great vehicle and reliable for the price.
Have never had a problem with this vehicle. Always maintain vehicle and complete maintenance as scheduled... Like the features and GPS/satellite radio capabilities. Purchased car new in 2012 and has 175,000 miles and still running great. I would highly recommend Toyota vehicles.

Great! The Camry is good looking and long time running car.
Regular routine maintenance is key. My car still runs very well. Tires have been replaced a few times. Good on gas and miles. I wouldn’t trade Toyota they have very good cars that last. Ive driven tundras and corollas. They’re all great including the Camry!

Great, reliable family car.
My car has been very reliable and runs smooth. It is very comfortable and has a large trunk. I wish it had more places to plug in electronics, especially in the back seat. The way the center back seat is designed makes it a little difficult to install a car seat.

A quick summary of Toyota Camry 2012, is pretty modern for that type of year.
This car, although it is 8 years old, runs very smooth and hardly ever gives me any problems. I feel completely safe driving this type of car. For gas, I have to pump gas almost every week because I drive a lot. But, other than that, I recommend this car it will give you the least amount of problems.

One of the best vehicles on the market.
The only thing that could be better is the touch control panel that controls the music and phone. It is limited in what it offers the sound could be better. The control on the seats need to be electronic. I do love this car and it drives so nice. Fits my size but if someone was taller, if could be a tight fit.

Our vehicle is red se addition. With Bluetooth phone capabilities.
2012 Toyota Camry has been really reliable for us and has not given us any problems. We even pulled a small trailer behind it when we moved across the united states. I like that a light comes on when it is time for an oil change, making it easy to remember when to do it. It is smaller so it is easy to park in smaller places and it is really good on gas too.
