The 2017 Camry is one of the longest lasting sedans, reaching over 350,000 miles with only minor brake issues. At $20,206 – 24,701, it’s worth the money.

Technology is dated, fuel economy is lower than rivals and the driving experience is boring.

  • Safety ratings are exceptional, getting a perfect 5 star rating in government crash tests and earning a Top Safety Pick+ Award.
  • The 2017 Camry is a good used car. We have received a lot of positive owner reviews mentioning a smooth ride, spacious cabin, and outstanding reliability.

Perfect car for commuting.
The car is very reliable for short and long distance travel. The car has a lot of space and comfortable seats. The trunk is large as well as the interior. Gas mileage is excellent, I normally get over 450 miles to a tank, and do not have to fill up the tank for at least 2 weeks depending on travel.

Comfortable, spacious, all around great choice.
My Camry is by far the most comfortable car I've ever drove. The back seat has tons of leg room and is a great size for my 80 pound Labrador. The trunk is massive and can hold three large suitcases plus several other items. I've never had any real issues with my car, I absolutely love it!

Best midsize sedan for my family of 5.
I have not had any problems with my Camry to date. It is too botch for durability, reliability and space! My family of five comfortably fits in it as our main source of transport. It is a great kid size sedan that give you style and comfort. Miles per gallon is awesome and once you do your maintenance in a timely manner your car should be in great shape for years to come.

Love the Bluetooth and touch free cell phone option the vehicle providers.
I have no problem or complaints about this vehicle. I love the backup camera feature. Seats are comfy and has a ton of legroom for driver and all passengers. Has a lot of trunk space. Vehicle is also very fuel efficient so it is awesome for road trips.

Reliable and great gas mileage
This car is awesome so far. Haven't had any problems and it has 39k miles. Definitely recommend a Camry. Holds its value well! Drives very smoothly with very little road noise, with nice interior! I love the red stitching in my steering wheel and the seats. Also has great gas mileage and good acceleration for a four cylinder.

My Camry is really comfortable and reliable. I love the extra features of the SE model--the sporty wheels, the fancy grill, and the stitched leather seats.

Reliable, but not comfortable.
The vehicle is not very comfortable because the seat is worn down and I find that I need to replace the gas very often. The speed is okay and it is from a brand that I trust, but I will be willing to change the car at this point that lasts longer in a good condition.
accountCircle Nathan I
Adequate but not great, specifically engine performance.
The Toyota Camry is not very quick off the line, has very poor acceleration power on the interstate. The interior is adequate and has stylish features. I strongly dislike the angle in which the radio screen is position there is often a glare while trying to use the rear back up camera.
accountCircle Cassi L
Disappointed, seek other car.
So my car auto stopped and caused someone behind to hit me. The car wouldn't pick up speed after it thought it needed to stop completely. Also the interior is less impressive than other newer cars. Didn't even come with an wireless phone charging or sun roof divider that stays up.
accountCircle Taylor R
An interesting detail is that it utilizes Bluetooth as an interesting feature.
I like how my car drives very efficient. Toyota is a good brand of cars where you can easily get to your destination with no problems. I have found no issues with it so far. My only complaint is the interior design of the car. It is simply too small for my liking, as I would rather prefer a more spacious and wide interior so that I have more room for passengers as well as other things.

Top Critics Reviews

  • Consumer Reports finds the Camry to be a comfortable and dependable sedan, with great owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds experts rate the Camry 4.5/5 with a roomy interior, but worse fuel economy than some rivals.
  • Kelley Blue Book give the Camry a 4.5/5 saying the reliability is great, but is not as fun to drive as other sportier cars.

What Problems Does the 2017 Toyota Camry Have?

Problems on the Camry include noisy brakes, interior rattles, and some door lock actuator failures. The 2015 through 2022 models are all great choices with relatively minor issues..

Screeching brakes are the most common problem and are usually caused by worn-out pads at around 35,000 miles. Replacing pads costs about $500 for a full set and fixes the problem.

Excessive rattling noises in the dash are another complaint in the first 2,000 miles. The issue is usually caused by loose components and clips. Disassembling and repairing the dash fixes the problem and prices range from $20 to $250 if they weren’t fixed under warranty.

Failing door lock actuators is another issue at around 15,000 miles. Door lock actuators are a known weak spot in Toyota vehicles over the years. Installing a new set costs around $300.

There are 3 recalls including airbag fasteners, spare tire, and labels. The most serious recall is for the airbag fasteners, but once they have been replaced for free they are not a concern.

How Long Will the 2017 Toyota Camry Last?

A properly maintained Camry will last over 350,000 miles which is 100,000 miles more than the top competitors. The regular annual maintenance costs are affordable at $429 per year, according to Repair Pal.

As a Camry reaches over 150,000 miles, owners should prepare to replace water pumps for $500, a window washer pump costing $150, and parking brake shoes which cost $300.

  • Available on the XSE and XLE models is a more powerful 3.5L V6 making 268 horsepower.

What Color Options are Available?

How Big is the Camry?

The 2017 Camry is a midsize sedan similar in size to the Mazda6 and Malibu. Passenger room is excellent, easily fitting tall adults in the back seats.

Cargo space is similar to rivals, with a 15.4 cubic foot trunk fitting 4 to 5 suitcases.

Centered wide dash shot

How Does the 2017 Toyota Camry Compare to Other Cars?

The highest-rated midsize sedan from 2017 is the lower-priced Subaru Legacy. Where the Legacy stands out is with standard all-wheel-drive, but the Camry will last longer. If you don’t need all-wheel-drive then the Camry is a better long-term choice.

Another rival is the more expensive Honda Accord. The Accord offers better standard technology, but the Camry is more comfortable. Both are long-lasting sedans, but we recommend the Camry with lower ownership costs.

Bluetooth. Money saver. Efficient. Fast. Nice design. Touch screen. Easy to control.
The vehicle is efficient and fast, nice motor, wheels, interior and exterior design. It supports Bluetooth, so you can connect any phone with no problem whatsoever. It lasts long in gas, taking it on long roads from Kansas to Missouri to visit family. Has enough space and it is comfortable.

The best car I have purchased thus far.
Toyota made this vehicle a real pleasure to drive. That was very important to me as I do a lot of cross country driving. My previous car a sonata limited had more features, but was tedious to drive due to it constantly requiring small steering adjustments.. The Camry stays right where you want it and also gives a much smoother ride over bumpy roads.

Toyota Camry for the win!
I have had my 2017 Toyota Camry for two months now and I love it! My first car was a 2002 Toyota Camry that someone totaled but I never had any issues out of it and would probably still be driving it today. My car has tons of room in the trunk and back seat. I use Bluetooth to listen to music and take phone calls so I do not have to be on my phone. It is the perfect family car with tons of room on the inside. Automatic windows are awesome. I get about 30 miles per gallon. I only have to fill up about 2 times a month. Overall I love this vehicle!

Reliable, smooth, and easy to drive.
The car is great because it has not had any issues in terms of performance, mechanics, or other issues. It is also easy to drive and great for everyday use. The only change I would make to the car is fuel efficiency could be improved since other cars with the same market value have better fuel efficiency.

The car rides very smoothly. I have not had any mechanical problems since I purchased it. The battery went bad but replaced for free since it was under warranty. The cabin is very roomy inside. It is always very easy to schedule oil changes and service.

Camry is amazing if you do not live in cold area.
I used to drive rav4 and I realize, the Camry is kind of longer in length and lower, so it is harder for me to parallel parking on street. Also living in buffalo, Camry is not an ideal car for snow weather. It takes longer to heat up engine to start during winter.
accountCircle Ed B on June 2, 2021
Spacious back seat. Comfortable ride. Perfect predicted reliability rating.
The Toyota Camry is a good reliable car for everyday use. It is comfortable and has many nice features. It has plenty of rear passenger space, a good-looking cabin, and enhanced multimedia system made standard. It also comes with a lengthy list of standard and optional features. Although its dashboard controls and infotainment system are easy to use, the sedan lacks apple CarPlay and android auto, and the display screen graphics are behind the times. There are a few rivals that offer better gas mileage and stronger base engines, but those cars typically fall short in many areas where the Camry excels.

Love this car’ Toyota is the best! Always recommend a lease first as to test out of you love it too. The leather does not get too hot in the summer, and I would recommend tinting your back windows if you have kids. Perfect for multiple kids, Camry can hold about 2 car seats but the highlander or sequoia can probably hold mode.

One of the most comfortable sedans I have ever driven!
We love our Toyota Camry. We currently have two children in our household. So comfortability is key, especially since we moved over two hours away from almost all of our family and friends. Every road trip turns into a full-blown excursion. My kids have plenty of space to stretch their legs out. When our youngest was an infant, I never had issues getting his infant seat inside never had to push either front seat up to uncomfortable or unsafe position either. I do wish the trunk was a bit larger as we are unable to fit our double stroller inside of it-well we cannot fit anything inside of the trunk if the double stroller is in it. Other than that, it is amazing on gas and gets us where we need to be!

I really love my Toyota. I am tall, 5'9 and I feel like have plenty of legroom. I love the gas mileage, very good on gas. I love how the back seats let down for additional trunk space, which was extremely useful during moving and my ikea store runs. I would stay the cons are all vehicles, including standard, should be push to start. I also feel like the main display area could use some improvements on the standard features. The ' push to talk' feature does not always work, especially when I am trying to access my music. I also feel that navigation should be standard. I do like that it came with a wireless charger, but the space is too small for my new phone, so that should have been size different to accommodate other phones. Overall, I am very happy with my car and would recommend to others.

I like the gas mileage and the room in the vehicle. I was disappointed when I saw the 2018 camry's And I wished I hadn't bought my 2017 one because of it. It seems to be safe and is better qualify over my previous vehicles. I don't think it is worth the price.

I like that my vehicle is reliable and it helps me out from here to there and it's very stylish. I don't dislike anything about it

Great, comfortable family vehicle.
Seats are sturdy and comfortable, car is spacious and can comfortably fit a family of 5. The compartment on the passengers side also has a lock feature providing more security. The car drives smooth and has no problem going uphill. I also love that there is not only a 2 cigarette lighters, one in the front and another in the back, but also two USB outlets as well making it extremely convenient.

Great versatile car! Perfect for families!
My Toyota Camry is the best! It features a back up cam, a lane change beeper, smart cruise control, and gets great mpg! The silver one is a cool color and the seats are comfy. The dashboard is large but not too big. The seats recline to a comfortable position. The trunk is large and can fit lots of stuff.

Reliable but advanced features, modern and sleek..
This car is mid-size with four doors. It is automatic transmission and a very smooth ride. It has many features like navigation system, bluetooth ability and sirius radio.

A great basic car for your average commuter.
This vehicle is very reliable and comfortable. I have had zero problems with this car. It looks nice, has plenty of power and also get great gas mileage. It is also very comfortable drive long distances in. It also comes with all of the amenities I look for and none of the extra gimmicks I do not care for.

Toyota Camry handles so good!
Wonderful car it just sits very low to the ground. No mechanical issues. The interior is easy on the eyes. It rides well. It is a lovely shade of blue. It handles well in the rain. Overall it is a great purchase. It is one of the better decisions I have made when it comes to buying a vehicle.
