Alex Showalter
Mar 28, 2023

The 2020 Toyota Camry lasts around 300,000 miles with relatively minor battery and rattling problems reported. At $22,325 to $36,998, it’s expensive, but worth the money for an extremely-dependable midsize sedan.

The suspension is very smooth at highway speeds, interior materials are great for a sedan in its price range and there are a lot of safety features.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The safety technology is overly sensitive, the cabin is noisy and the trunk’s opening makes it difficult to load some items.

Snazzy little ride! Grocery getter amped up to 10.
My new vehicle has the best package. The panoramic sunroof and moonroof is my favorite feature. It gets me amped up if I have had a bad day or need some refreshing air. The gas mileage is good although I did not purchase the hybrid. I love the heated seats no matter how hot this Florida sun gets.

A low profile car that has good high performance features in it and safe features.
It is something you would never expect from a Toyota Camry, the performance is unbelievable, it drives smoothly, the gas is good on it, seats or comfortable, the trunk is big and spacious, it also has an echo friendly system, has a alarm when your changing lanes without the signal on.

Recent purchase of the Toyota Camry.
The car provides a comfortable ride, so far I haven't really ran into any issues. It gets great gas mileage, which is another perk. Overall, I am still very happy with my recent purchase.

Camry 2020..Always an excellent choice.
Great handling, gets 32 miles highway, 28 city driving. Comfortable seats, lots of legroom, plenty of room in trunk. I have not had any problems with this car. I get regular oil changes. Lots of standard equipment, power seats, am/FM/mp3, abs, a/c, rear window defroster. This is a real nice, comfortable car.

Buy a Toyota Camry! You will not be disappointed!
I have had no issue with my Camry. It is a really smooth daily driver that gets amazing gas mileage! It is a very sporty looking vehicle that will last for a long time. Toyota is known for its long-lasting vehicles. This vehicle has many standard features that are nice including, rear backup camera, blind spot detection and lane departure warning!

Great gas mileage. Very roomy. Will get up and go. 4 doors. Keyless start.
Love my car gets great gas mileage just need my windshield tinted. It's 4 doors which makes it easy to get in and out. It sporty and go fast. It had keyless start but sometimes I leave my keys in car but will not lock with keys inside if off. Its has anti wreck but gets on my last nerve sometimes.

2020 Camry Hybrid
Purchased the car in Oct 2019. In March 2020 after the car was parked in the garage for 3 days would not start. Took it to dealer they replaced the 12V battery. Yesterday, April 24, 2021 the same thing happen after 2 days being in the garage. Dead battery. Jump started and the screen in the dashboard played a video saying that the electronic board malfunction for engine and transmission. I did a google search and found out about a zillion issues people had with their 2020 Camry Hybrids. Is this a lemon?

My 2020 Camry XSE's screen cracked due to heat and Toyota won't cover damages because according to them it was caused by "outside influence" (basically that I broke the screen) and they want to charge me $4,200! Don't waste your money on a 2020 Toyota Camry.

No I would never recommend this vehicle!! And above all I would not recommend Future Toyota of Yuba City. They are swindlers and liars!!! Worst car I've ever owned. Not the one I wanted. They brought it to my house at 9:00PM , couldn't return it. Gave me no promos(money back). Took my money down and used it towards the pay off price. Nasty people, and Toyota Corp. Goes along w/ it. Zero rating!!!

Online it says it is larger than the sonata and it is not in real life.
2 weeks into owning it the battery died. It is very small on the inside and I do not love the way the screen is. It is like I have to reach too far to use its features. The back seat is too small and there is not enough cargo space. Other than that the way it drives is smooth.

Disappointed
Very disappointed with the 2020 Camry. I’ve had to replace one tire and now another is going flat. I miss the roominess and conform of the older models. The dash is hard to read especially in the sunlight. It will be my last. Some of the features are good but I’m sure they are also available on other cars.

Cheap Build
Well there is alot stuf they took off from 2019 to 2020 model. This mean more cheap make. They took off heated seats which are now available as a package. They put android play but took off entune and they said amazon alexa is comes with it but actually its not.outside mirrors now has black plastic under neath instead of chrome in 2019.Mileage is totally scam it never hit 47 or 44. You get 38 to 40 if you drive lije a grandma or you get 33to 34.

What Do Critics Say About the Toyota Camry?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2020 Toyota Camry is a very pleasant family-sized sedan with high owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Camry at 3.7/5, praising the fuel-efficient engine choices, but doesn’t like the road noise.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Camry a 3.9/5, enjoying the standard safety technology features, but owners don’t like the loose steering.

What Common Problems Does the 2020 Toyota Camry Have?

Common problems found on the 2020 Toyota Camry include the battery draining quickly, rattling noises from the door panels, along with slow transmission gear changes. Overall, these problems are relatively minor compared to other midsize sedans on the market.

The battery draining quickly is the most widespread complaint on the 2020 Camry. There are software updates for the battery controller which help prevent excessive battery draw. Most dealerships will install this software for free, while some charge around $50 to update it.

Rattling noises in the door panels are another issue reported on the 2020 Toyota Camry in the first 5,000 miles. Usually, the problem is caused by a loose clip in the door panel which allows some of the wiring and linkages to rattle. Diagnosing and fixing the problem usually costs under $100, depending on local labor rates.

Slow transmission gear changes are another problem mentioned by some 2020 Camry owners in the first 2,500 miles. The transmission’s computer adapts to your driving style, so usually it fixes itself simply through more driving. There are also some transmission software updates available which can improve the responsiveness.

There are two recalls on the 2020 Toyota Camry, which is similar to other cars its age. The most serious recall is for the fuel pump which may fail, causing the engine to stall. Toyota will replace the fuel pump in affected models for free. The second recall is for engine coolant leaks, which only occur on hybrid models.

How Long Will the 2020 Toyota Camry Last?

A well-maintained 2020 Toyota Camry can last over 300,000 miles, which is longer than other midsize sedans like the Honda Accord. Regular annual maintenance costs are lower than the competition at $368 per year, according to data provided by Repair Pal.

As a used 2020 Toyota Camry reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the water pump for $545, a crankshaft position sensor costing $275, along with the seat heater switch which costs $280.

accountCircle Jennifer S

Seems to be very reliable. It is only a few months old so no problems so far, I do not see any being an issue in the future.

How Is the Technology?

Entertainment technology is very good with a standard 7-inch touchscreen which comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Optional upgrades include an 8-inch touchscreen along with a more powerful stereo system.

Standard safety features are excellent for a midsize sedan, offering:

  • Forward collision warning
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Lane departure warning
  • Rearview camera
  • Forward automatic emergency braking
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane keep assist

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Surround-view parking camera system
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Head-up display
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Reverse automatic emergency braking

Is the 2020 Toyota Camry a Good Value?

The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $22,325 to $36,998, making it more than a Nissan Altima or Hyundai Sonata. When new, the price range was $24,425 to $35,130. Depreciation is better than other midsize cars, only losing about 3% of its current value per year.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The eighth generation of the Toyota Camry came out for the 2018 model year.

2015: Handling improvements from earlier years, minor exterior styling changes, new interior materials.

2016: New SE model added with darker taillights and an upgraded gauge cluster.

2017: Wireless charging pad added to high-end models

2018: Fully redesigned for the eighth generation with new engines, technology, and a longer wheelbase.

2019: Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa connectivity added.

2021: More drive safety features added, L model removed from lineup, minor exterior styling changes, new 9-inch touchscreen available.

How Does the Toyota Camry Compare to the Competition?

The 2020 Toyota Camry is one of the best midsize sedans on the market since it offers better reliability than any of the competition while also featuring the latest technology.

The Honda Accord is another midsize sedan available in the same price range. Steering is a bit sportier in the Honda Accord, while the Toyota Camry has a more comfortable interior. We recommend the Toyota Camry since ownership costs are lower, although both are excellent midsize sedans.

The Toyota Corolla is a smaller car from Toyota which is available for about $3,000 less. Where the Toyota Corolla stands out is in crowded cities where parking is difficult, while the Toyota Camry is more practical. We recommend the Toyota Camry since you get more passenger room, although both are decent sedans.

Hate navigation
Ad to replace rotors at less than a year. The navigation STINKS - doesn't tell you where it is taking you and changes the destination you entered. If it told you where it was taking you, it would be possible to see if/when it changes. Doesn't give you route options. Difficult to look up answers online.

Good car for a young person.
The Camry is a good car, but I prefer a SUV. The car looks and rides nice, but sits very low and is difficult to get in and out of. So far, there have been no major problems, although I did just find a problem with the trim around the windows. The cruise control is very touchy and will automatically brake if it thinks that you are too close to the car in front of you.

Vehicle has no problems at all. Better quality in overall design. Have a 2.5 liter engine for better gas mileage 35 miles on regular gas. I have had no issues with my beautiful Camry. Many thought that I would quickly tire of the red interior, but I love it more every time I get in it! Great driving car, sporty and sleek. Excellent on gas! I highly recommend this vehicle! Only Toyota for me from now on!

Great car for a first time vehicle owner.
Need more power. I would prefer it to have a little more get up when you pass other vehicles. But I do think they have a model with a bigger engine. The car is really comfortable. I really wish the stereo could be a little louder. I definitely recommend this vehicle for first time car owners.

Great car! Would recommend to anyone wanting a smooth ride the looks really good.
It is a really great car, it drives very good and has a great pick up and go when you hit the gas. I was hesitant to get the 4 cylinder but it drives very good. The interior is nice and has lots of feet room for the passengers and can fit a car seat comfortably.

2020 Toyota Camry se AWD.
Leather seats are nice. It drives well and I like the safety features of the lane assist and radar cruise control. It has all weather mats. Those are nice. The seats are heated as well as the steering wheel. It is all wheel drive so snow is not a problem.

2020 Toyota Camry: family safe.
Great performance, super reliable and would recommend to anyone! Bluetooth radio, heated seats, lane correction technology and breaks automatically if cruise control is set. Plenty of room for a family of 4, car seats fit great in this car. Ten out of tens stars.

Shark fin is cool and I like the sensors.
I like the sensors that show me my blind spots and the backup sensor. It is 1 month in since I bought the car and it still smells new. I have the faux leather and the back is really comfortable. I also think it's pretty cute how there is a little fin on the top of the car it makes it look like a shark.

Great vehicle for commuting!
Great commuter car, very spacious for a sedan as well. Has blind spot, back up camera, and a sensor at the front of the car that will alert you if you are too coming too close to another vehicle while traveling. Many other safety features on this vehicle.

My vehicle is very safe and spacious.
The Camry le is very spacious. Also drives very smoothly. Not only that it is very good on gas. It drives so nice. Also, has good amount of space in the trunk. The seats are nice and you can adjust in several ways. It also is very safe. If you are not paying attention driving and get too close to a car it’ll let you know to brake.

It is bigger on the inside.
I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the 2020 Toyota Camry sedan l. It is very reliable in it is performance and gets great gas mileage. The interior of the car is very spacious. The trunk is also very large and spacious as well in addition to the spaciousness of the interior.

The Toyota Camry as a fun, comfortable, and easy to drive sedan.
The Camry is very easy and fun to drive. It also handles very well. The ride is very smooth and comfortable and quiet. Inside the car is roomy and allows for passengers to sit comfortably without feeling crammed. The price is not too expensive either for a family car.

Toyota is doing amazing in 2020.
The vehicle is very clean, comfortable, and reliable. It is fast, and good on gas. Vehicle also carries advanced features such as android auto and apple carplay. Solid amount of horsepower and it looks very nice. It is very fun to drive and is smooth. Great for long car rides or road trips. I highly recommend it.

Great vehicle, spacious, great speakers and love the keyless starter.
Have had this vehicle for a little over a month, no complaints so far, love how comfortable and spacious it is. I will say it is a bit loud at pull off, however coming from a 2003 Pontiac vibe to a 2020 Camry is a very big improvement overall, most Toyotas are reliable, I am hoping this one lives up to its expectation.

Great, reliable car for road trips and everyday use.
We love our Camry! We enjoy the fact that it has apple CarPlay built and use it frequently. We also love all of the safety features and find it to be a great road trip car. We really trust Toyota’s reputation and we have found so far that it holds up! We are looking forward to owning it for years to come.
