It's reliable when you maintain the vehicle. I have not had an issue yet 6 years and nearly 80,000 miles in to using the Corolla.

I bought my Corolla new and have tried to treat it well in the 6 years I've had it. It has almost 80 k miles on it. I've gone from MI to GA in it and it's been very reliable. I have discovered a few things I dislike about my vehicle though. First, it doesn't accelerate in a reasonable time. My husband and I both feel like we almost have the acceleration pedal to the floor getting on to the highway and it takes longer than it should to get up to speed. I feel like that's dangerous in certain situations. Second, I feel like the car should get better gas mileage. I probably get 28 mpg in town and 33 mpg on the highway. Both of those seem low of a small vehicle like the Corolla. Last, if you have anything in the trunk that is the right height, shape, etc to bump a cord you lose the use of your speakers until that item shifts or is moved. One time I drove 3 hours without sound, it was really annoying. Not a very smart design especially for people, like myself, who travel a lot so the trunk fills up or has a child so I frequently have a bulky stroller in my trunk.

Nice driving and handling car!

Nice driving and handling car! Acceleration is iffy/slightly jumpy. TIP FOR THAT ACCELERATION ISSUE: You need to keep the throttle body as clean as possible on these engines! After I had that cleaned, the car takes off like a raped ape, just by touching the gas a quarter way! The front seats can use more padding for sure! Not sure what type of fabric they are using nowadays! Would have liked some crushed velour! I've sat in cars 30 years older than this one, and they were more comfortable than these front seats! Had to add a complete aftermarket stereo system (Alpine head unit, 4 Memphis speakers and Audiopipe amp) since the factory one was so terrible, and can hardly hear it! Again, been in cars 15+ years older that have way better factory sound systems! Nah, this car is really fun to drive, and very reliable! You just can't beat Toyota's dependability! Not even Honda comes close!

Reliability and affordability lend to feeling of peace of mind.

I have had excellent performance and reliability from my 2012 Toyota Corolla. I seem to get excellent gas mileage in the city, suburbs and on the highway. I have found that having a reliable fuel efficient vehicle has been very reassuring for both myself and all the members of my family. We know that we do not have to worry about the car breaking down, as a general rule, and that we will always have a fuel efficient car that will last as long as we want to hold on to it. We also appreciate the fact the our Toyota Corolla holds on to its value over time as we have noticed that a lot of people are interested in purchasing used Toyota vehicles. Each of these factors lend to a feeling overall peace of mind as we know that it is highly likely that we will continue to be able to drive a vehicle that is affordable reliable and comfortable.
