The 2009 Toyota RAV4 will become your new best friend

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

The 2008 Toyota RAV4 was my wisest vehicle purchase to date. With minimal care and only a few minor typical bumps along the way, my RAV4 has been my best buddy for over 10 years now. It's a smooth ride, but not too smooth as to make you car sick, it's a pretty quiet ride. I had to have the brakes done within the 1st two years of buying the RAV brand new, and this could be because of the salt air (I live by the beach), or it could be subpar craftsmanship, who knows-- this was the only thing I've had to do to keep the car running pristinely besides routine maintenance. It's spacious as heck, and the 3rd row seating is virtually non-existent so don't depend on that as a real seat (I don't know what they were thinking w this addition??). The upholstery is enduring of lots of coffee and snacks being spilled on it, wipes clean no problems. Accelerates as well as expected, gas is around 19-22 mpg depending on driving conditions. I highly recommend the 2008 Toyota RAV4.

Pluses and minuses of owning a Toyota Rav4

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

I have found nothing to dislike about the Rav4. The handling is responsive. Reliability has been great. Vehicle is roomy enough and cargo capacity is good It has had several recalls which were taken care of but none that were any problems for me. It has only standard features with power steering, windows, brakes and air conditioning. Has a CD player. The radio / sound system could be better as it does not get good reception but that could be my area. I guess gas mileage could be better but overall it has been a good reliable vehicle.

All terrain or highways it runs and handles great. Could use so more technology.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

The SUV has been great so far. The seating is comfortable. It is 4 wheel drive. The highway driving is fantastic but it is also good in the mountains and rock roads. The paint has been a little weak in some spots but part of that could be the age of the vehicle. I will consider buying another rav4 new next time. I want for the next purchase to have Bluetooth connection so that it connects to my phone to allow for hands free while driving. I also have lots of content on the iPhone that I would like to control from the vehicle.

Perfect vehicle for experiencing life.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

We love our Toyota Rav4. We bought this car used. And it grew with us with all 3 children. It's tough to fit 3 car seats. But with the right type, they fit. We used this car to travel in Texas. We even have 2 dogs. The extra storage on top came in handy. This car has been camping. It's been to the beach. The storage in the trunk is amazing, with additional storage compartments in the trunk. It's perfect for outdoor movies. With cup holders in the trunk.

Perfect for families and pets!

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

It is a very comfortable car. I love the fact the tire is on the back of the car. It creates a lot more storage inside of the car that has proven to be very convenient and it makes it easier to get the tire off if you get a flat. The back seat is great because you can lay the seats flat and fit a lot in the back of it. Toyota is a very trusted brand and is known to last for a long time so it is a good investment.

Toyota rav4 owner and loving it.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

I travel with my pets and children and my rav4 has room for my 2 dogs, two children as well as our luggage. The backward position of the back seats allows for a quick nap for the children when traveling as well as the forward recycling position when I need the extra space in the back to transport items such as gardening mulch and large purchases. I love my rav4 for its fuel efficiency and comfort when traveling.

It is a little bit odd that the trunk opens from the side instead of from above.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

I absolutely love my car. I'm a college student which means I'm moving back and forth a lot and my RAV4 has a ton of storage capacity for all my stuff. It is comfortable for long rides, and there is tons of space for passengers as well. I do not need anything fancy from my car, but it would be nice to have some of the features that the base model does not provide (steering wheel controls, seat warmers).

Great for camping and hunting.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

Love this car. Takes me off road when needed with no problems. I can fill it with camping gear, put a kayak on top and it goes with no problems. Love that it has 4 wheel drive so that I can go thru mud and water with no problems since my husband likes to hunt. Since my model was base we added a rack on top and a trailer hitch receiver for more room to take camping equipment with no issues.

The Toyota RAV4 is reliable!

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

This car is extremely reliable. I've been driving mine for over 100k miles and have had no issues. I love how spacious it is. The trunk space is enormous and you can put the back seats down to extend the space, so I've used it to move between several different apartments over the last 10 years. This car is very practical and was a great value. I can't imagine having another car.

The comfortability of the Toyota Rav4!

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

I love my Toyota Rav4! It's is roomy enough for kids, and has great cargo space. This car is excellent on gas, and wonderful in the snow with the 4 wheel drive. I have owned the car for years and have had no major issues with the mechanics! The drivers and passenger seats are very comfortable for long trips, and offer wonderful lumbar support. I highly recommend!

Safe and solid SUV that has a great engine.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

Good engine but the car has issues with oil. I have to put oil into it every 500-1000 miles. Had the car three years and no issues with the engine. Only needed routine maintenance. I like that it is heavy duty and safe. I have not been in an accident but would know I was safe if I were as it had heavy doors. Lots of space and safe to drive in the snow.

- Jill N

Overall, the rav4 lives up to its potential of being dependable and safe.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

I bought this car obviously used back in 2011. I love the car as it drives pretty smooth and the main reason why I love this car is because of its reliability and safety. I have two of my own kids and it's a safe car. The only downfall I seem to have come across is the oil. It burns faster than most cars and so I'm having to replenish the oil often.

The extremely reliable Rav4

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

I love my Rav4. I have over 600,000 miles on the car and it has always been very reliable. Other than regular oil changes and tire rotate and balance I have not had to do any repairs or work to the vehicle. I travel far often and have been taking this care for over 10 years with me. The basic version is still equip with what I felt I needed.

The Perfect Crossover Vehicle for Me

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

My car is extremely reliable and comfortable! I love the high safety ratings it gets, and the size is perfect for me. It's a little small when I have my family with me, however. The air conditioning is a little tricky when it comes to the back seat. I have never had any problems with performance. It does exactly what I need it to do.

- Julie P

It is a strong and durable car.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

This is my second Rav4. I have never loved a car so much. Its smooth driving, comfy seats, great for long distance driving, great gas mileage as well. It performs so well in the winter which is a big plus for where I live. Along without it performs, it saved my life in a car accident. I would recommend this car over and over again

- Kayla A

Toyota RAV4-sleek with a good engine but has tire problems.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

I love the look of the RAV4 and the engine has been extremely reliable but we have had many issues with the car specifically with the tire arms rods and shocks which is causing the vehicle to shake. Although that would be in part since we bought the car in Minnesota where they salt the roads which leads to rust and deterioration.

- Madison B

Great overall vehicle for work and pleasure.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

The 2008 Toyota rav4 is a reliable vehicle. Enough room in the back to carry recreational gear. The only issue that I have is the breaks make a squealing sound when coming to a stop most of the time. This is even after new brakes have been installed. Overall it is one of the best cars I have owned along with a Toyota Camry.

- Kristina A

Toyota RAV4: A bouncy Ride

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

It's a very spacious vehicle and the second row of seats can fold down to make even more room. The car is taller than normal which is nice in traffic, but the suspensions are a little much for one person as they can make the car slightly bouncy. With the height it also makes turns a little unstable.

- Jack L

This is a great hardworking car that can withstand the test of time

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

My car has been great. Last year I had to replace the water pump, and flush the transmission. And this year I had to replace the alternator. When I first got the car I went through a lot of breaks and routers but then I got some drilled ones and I haven't had to replace them yet.

- Kayla D

Good car very reliable and

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

Its gets great gas mileage and is very dependable! I haven't had any problems with it since I have owned it since 2013. It has enough room for my two kids and all their football and softball gear. We have taken multiple vacations and have enough room for all the luggage too.

- Stacie C

Great gas mileage for an SUV.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

Pros: a lot of space running myself and my busy kids to activities and events. Holds a lot in the back. Cons: wish it was just a tad bigger that a 3rd person could sit in the back if needed. With the 2 car seats, it is impossible for another person to sit.

- Kim J

Love the space of my Rav4

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

I love my Rav4. It's a reliable car, however, I have had some issues with it. I believe the previous owners were not honest when we bought the car and that is why there are issues. A little outdated on the inside but is spacious and perfect for road trips!

- Brooke D

Great storage space. Great vehicle for camping.

2008 Toyota RAV4 Base

My Toyota rav 4 has been a real reliable vehicle. Good all around performance. Shocks and struts needed replaced after 150,000 miles. Basic maintenance will keep this vehicle on the road for 100's of thousands of miles. Keep good tires and it will deliver.

- Greg R

A great car for road trips.
