The 2019 Toyota Sienna lasts around 300,000 miles, with relatively minor transmission and stereo software issues reported. At $25,650 to $45,400, it’s worth the money for an extremely reliable minivan with tons of practical features.

likeFilled The Good
The standard V6 engine is very powerful, all-wheel drive is available and there’s a ton of room for passengers.

The interior design is fairly basic, the suspension is loose and the second row has to be removed and does not fold flat.

Great for growing families and reliable.
My only complaint is that when traveling on the back I get motion sickness, and I wish food were able to open with foot, like the Chrysler. Led lights on all models not only in the limited. And signal light on side mirrors in all models. Anything else is perfect for a growing family and very spacious and comfortable.

Roomy, comfortable and fun to drive.
This is a very comfortable van it has comfort, and space and is easy to drive. The van gives me to option to go anywhere I want because of the rear ramp. The passengers have controls so they can adjust their temperatures. I love the remote doors and the rear camera side windows have sun screens.

Very good for a family car.
My vehicle runs very smoothly and has no problem. It also has a lot of room for people and storage. The back seats can be moved to make more space in the trunk. There is also the GPS in the car which is very good and updates with traffic. The design of the car is also very clean and slick.

This vehicle can last for a very long time, I had a sienna.
Great for road trips and gets you around places very efficiently. But it does have some downs, like later models of the sienna it has a movie screen but in this model it does not have a movie screen. Overall I still am in love with this car and hope to have it forever.

Reliable van with plenty of space
It is mostly very reliable and it has a lot of leg space. The speakers are also very nice and the driving experience is pretty pleasant. The cameras also help parking. One problem would be the GPS and voice activated system as it is very hard to navigate and inaccurate.

A mom's go to for transporting children!
I love the Toyota sienna! It has floor mats to protect the floor. The dash has a nice visual display and touch screen menu for audio and Bluetooth/hands free. The back seat is easy to fold down to create extra space. Our van is AWD, which was near impossible to find used, and is why we purchased new. It gives me peace of mind during winter weather driving and hauling the kids around.

The sienna XLE is worth the amount of money it cost.
The vehicle is extremely well off if you are planning to travel. It is obviously a traveling vehicle. It has 8 seats with charge stations for you to camp or do whatever. The performance is extremely well also, you do not have to repair much other than getting new batteries and renewing the oils. The problem with this vehicle is gas money. It is quite expensive. Comfort is obviously 10/10. Features such as the ac, touch screen, and the abilities to look behind the back of car camera to park is 10/10. The reliability is reassuring. It is worth the money.

Run don't walk away from Toyota
Alhough my Sienna is a 2006 I need to warn people of a serious issue Toyota has with their cars. It's called Unintended Acceleration and I have lived after such an experience (happened on 9/25/2019) to inform people of this frightening glitch in Toyotas that from my experience is an electronic glitch. My sister, who was with me in my Sienna has a 2011 Sienna which can have the same problem. She is in process of getting rid of hers and is done with Toyota. And, NO, it was not the car mat or driver issue. My van only had about 100,000 miles on it. Some 2019 Toyota vehicles are having this issue. PLEASE, learn how to stop a vehicle with a stuck gas pedal that unexpectedly accelerates and brakes do not stop it. It could save your life.
accountCircle Sally D
The seat warmers are nice.
Large and bulky yet still feels cramped. Lots of cracks for lots of junk to get stuck in. Blind spots galore... Even with the blind spot monitoring system. Pedals cannot be moved to accommodate shorter individuals. Rear wiper tiny and barely does anything. Front windshield wash very powerful yet rear barely trickles out on one side. Lane departure beeps constantly even when you are not going off the road or if in road construction and tries to pull you over into the cones and then tells you that you need to rest. Cruise control cannot be used in rain or other conditions it says debris is blocking the radar or something. Window shade in rear broke within a week of buying brand new car... Should be made to withstand children being rough with them. No pockets on back of seats for kids to stick stuff. Cannot remove seats. Spare hard to get out, thankfully I haven't had to use it. Rear climate control not in a place kids can reach so driver still has to do it. Middle row cup holders not wear kids can reach them.
accountCircle Sally D
There is some bad and some good.
Cons include: no remote start. No hands free gate or door opening. Not made for small stature driver, hard to be able to reach pedals well without being on top of steering wheel. Moveable/adjustable pedals would be very helpful. Too many buttons/distractions. Cannot reach baby. Have to put kids in different sides of car. Hard to slide middle row forward to get kids in back seat. Pros include: heated seats. Multiple climate zones so my husband does not freeze me out. Cargo space. Third row has plenty of legroom. Ports and plugs galore. Lots of cup holders. Lane departure alert. Rear cross traffic alert. Cruise control that keeps you a certain distance from the car in front of you.

2019 Toyota sienna - cannot stow away seats.
The Toyota sienna minivan is basic and reliable. We use it for work, primarily, but also family trips and errands. It is versatile for a family use. If I could improve one thing, it would be easier stowing of the middle row seats. Unlike our previous van (dodge caravan), I cannot stow the middle row seats with the sienna. Instead, I have to take them out, which is more time and effort plus find a place to store them when not in use.
accountCircle Andrea B
Convenient and versatile. Easy to travel in. Roomy and comfortable, very safe.
The 2019 Toyota sienna does not accelerate/decelerate smoothly, and that is the only thing I dislike. I like the space it provides, it is comfortable and I can travel with my bike, dogs, kid and still feel like there’s plenty of room. I really like the cruise control feature, and lane assist. I really like this vehicle except for the acceleration/deceleration issue.

What Do Critics Say About the Toyota Sienna?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Toyota Sienna offers a comfortable ride and energetic powertrain, with great owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Sienna at 4.1/5, enjoying the strong V6 engine for a minivan, but doesn’t like that the second row seats are bulky to remove.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Sienna a 4.4/5, praising the reliability and roomy cabin, but owners don’t like the lack of a hybrid version.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Toyota Sienna Have?

Common problems found on the 2019 Toyota Sienna include delayed gear changes, the navigation system freezing, along with broken windshields. Overall, these problems are minor compared to other minivans on the market, leading to lower repair costs as the Sienna ages.

Delayed gear changes are the most widespread complaint from 2019 Sienna owners, showing up within the first 2,500 miles. There are updates to the transmission control module software which improve the performance. Most dealerships will install these updates for free, while others charge around $100 for labor.

The navigation system freezing is another problem mentioned on the 2019 Sienna at around 1,000 miles. There are software updates available for the stereo system as well, which improve the reliability of the system. Most dealerships will update this for free during normal servicing, while others charge around $50.

Broken windshields have also been reported on some Sienna models in the first 10,000 miles. There were some production runs of glass, which were more fragile than others, leading them to break easier. Replacing the windshield cost around $700, depending on local labor rates.

There are seven recalls on the 2019 Sienna, which is worse than some other minivans. The most serious recalls both cover the fuel pump, which may fail, and are a common recall on all Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Toyota will replace the fuel pump on affected models for free. Other recalls include load carrying labels, and brake line nuts, which Toyota will also fix for free.

How Long Will the 2019 Toyota Sienna Last?

A well-maintained 2019 Sienna can last around 300,000 miles, which is longer than other minivans on the market like the Chrysler Pacifica. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other vans, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $454 per year.

As a used 2019 Sienna reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the lower trailing arm for $450, the liftgate motor costing $525, along with the intake manifold gasket, which is about $650.

How Is the Technology?

Standard safety technology is better than most other minivans, and features:

  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane keep assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Lane departure warning
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Rearview camera

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Surround-view parking camera system

Is the 2019 Toyota Sienna a Good Value?

What Engines Come In the Toyota Sienna?

The Sienna is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces a commendable 296 horsepower at up to 22 MPG. This engine is paired with this engine is an 8-speed automatic transmission, which provides smooth gear shifts and aids in maintaining efficiency. Regarding performance, the Sienna, equipped with this V6, can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in around 7 seconds, which is respectable for a vehicle of its size.

What Colors Does the Toyota Sienna Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Toyota Sienna?

The 2019 Toyota Sienna is lauded for its comfortable and family-friendly interior. Designed with long drives and family road trips in mind, the Sienna guarantees that all passengers, regardless of which row they’re seated in, have a pleasant experience. Its seats are cushioned and supportive, ideal for both short commutes and longer journeys. The minivan offers a choice of fabric, leatherette, or premium leather upholstery, depending on the trim level, all of which accentuate its luxurious feel.

For those seated up front, the captain chairs provide ample space, and for second-row passengers, the Sienna offers versatile captain chairs in some models, and in others, a bench seat. These chairs can slide forwards and backwards, allowing for easy access to the third row and adjusting legroom as needed. Speaking of the third row, even adults can find the space comfortable, which is not always the case in many three-row vehicles.

Beyond seating, the Sienna’s ride quality is smooth, thanks to its well-tuned suspension that effectively absorbs road imperfections. The cabin remains quiet, shielding occupants from most road and wind noises, allowing for conversations and music to be easily enjoyed. Additionally, with features like tri-zone automatic climate control available, making sure that all passengers remain at a comfortable temperature becomes effortless. All these attributes collectively make the 2019 Toyota Sienna a sanctuary of comfort on the move.

How Much Storage Space Does the Toyota Sienna Have?

The 2019 Toyota Sienna is recognized for its spaciousness and practicality, which makes it a preferred choice for families and those in need of ample storage capacity. Specifically, the Sienna offers a generous cargo space of up to 39.1 cubic feet behind the third-row seats. If you need more space, folding down the third-row seats increases storage to almost 87.1 cubic feet. And, for those who really want to maximize capacity, with both the second- and third-row seats folded, the Sienna opens up a cavernous 150 cubic feet of space.

To put this in perspective, 39.1 cubic feet can accommodate several suitcases, sports equipment, or a week’s worth of groceries. The 87.1 cubic feet with just the third row folded can fit larger items such as bicycles, a large TV, or furniture like a small sofa. At its maximum capacity of 150 cubic feet, the Sienna can easily transport larger pieces of furniture, multiple bicycles, or even kayaks.

In addition to this main storage area, the 2019 Sienna also features various small storage compartments. There’s an overhead console, dual glove compartments, and multiple cup holders and door bins spread across all three rows. Additionally, there’s a center console in the front, which is ideal for storing smaller items such as wallets, phones, and snacks. The Sienna’s design clearly considers the needs of those who require both large and small storage options for their daily lives and travels.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The third generation of the Toyota Sienna was launched in 2011, and will be replaced by the fourth generation for the 2021 model year.

2015: Upgraded suspension, small exterior styling changes, higher quality interior materials.

2016: Siri Eyes Free added to all Sienna models.

2017: Upgraded V6 engine, and a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

2018: Toyota Safety Sense technology is now standard on all models, rear USB ports added.

2019: Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa added across the lineup.

2020: Nightshade Edition package offered with black exterior trim.

2021: Fully redesigned for the fourth generation with new engines, styling, and upgraded interior.

How Does the Toyota Sienna Compare to the Competition?

The 2019 Toyota Sienna is a great minivan, offering better reliability ratings than many of the competitors, and all of the modern safety features that drivers are looking for.

The Honda Odyssey is another minivan available for around $1,500 less. The standard entertainment technology is better in the Honda Odyssey, while the Toyota Sienna has lower ownership costs as it ages. We recommend the Toyota Sienna, although both are great minivans worth test driving to determine which you prefer.

The Chrysler Pacifica is a competitor, which can be found for roughly $3,500 less. Interior materials are more luxurious in the Chrysler Pacifica, while the Toyota Sienna is much more reliable as it ages. We recommend the Toyota Sienna since it’s cheaper to own long-term.

Great van! Would like a couple added features.
We haven’t had any problems with this van, however, it does not come with the DVD entertainment, and one other option I wish Toyota had in their vans is the magic seats that Honda has. It would really help when buckling car seats in the third row. We love the trunk space and the drive is pretty smooth. It is been very reliable as well.

What I really like about this car.
The safety features is really a plus, especially for a family. The music works great, and I love how it is Bluetooth. However the cracks between the seats are very thin so it's hard to get falling objects, but the touchscreen and seat warmers make up for it. Also how the windshield warms up when it fogs is a plus.

s**y, sweet, and beastly vehicle.
The Toyota sienna is a beast of a car. It moves people, cargo and good taste. It is more functional, cheaper, stylish, and fuel efficient than a SUV. The sienna is luxurious inside and sporty on the outside. Hands down a win for Toyota. I cannot wait until the new one comes out.

Great vehicle for families!
The sienna handles well and has tons of space for our family and dog. I do wish it had a button on the trunk to open, not just close, and I wish we had known about the extendable center console when we bought it-that would be much better for drinks in the back. The double sunroof and split screen TV are great for our family!

There is a recall on the fuel pump. We had the car in for the recall and they did nothing to it said they would check on a fix. The car quit running and had to be tied in to the dealer, then they changed the fuel pump which they should have done when we had it in for the recall.

I love this car! I never thought I would drive a minivan, but when I found out I was pregnant with my 4th child it was the next obvious car I needed. It has 8 seats which means I can take my entire family plus grandma and grandpa on trips, and the trunk is huge! Just recently I fit a stroller, two balance bikes for my toddlers, and a weeks worth of groceries all in the trunk! Minivan space for family of 4.
No issues with the minivan. Really great space for my family of 2 adults and two 5 year olds. Driving is smooth, comfortable seats, trunk space is plentiful and the ability to fold the back seats down makes for great space for storing bikes, scooters, groceries etc. My only gripe is the back door does not always work when clicking the automatic key so I have to manually open more times than I like.

Peace of mind from a great family car!
So far the convenience outweighs any hesitation I had about the look of the car. It performs well, is very responsive, and is extremely comfortable for me and my family. It has a wonderfully quiet ride, and the 4wd performs beautifully in snowy Colorado winter. Driver easy speak is extremely convenient for talking to my kids, and I am sure the DVD player will come in handy when they are old enough to be forward facing. It is extremely reassuring to know the reliability of the Toyota brand is behind me when I use this vehicle to transport my family on a regular basis.

Reliable van with plenty of space
It is mostly very reliable and it has a lot of leg space. The speakers are also very nice and the driving experience is pretty pleasant. The cameras also help parking. One problem would be the GPS and voice activated system as it is very hard to navigate and inaccurate.

Good buy with no problems.
So far there have not been any problems I've encountered. It works well and doesn't require excessive maintenance. Fits our family of 5 very nicely. It can fit 8 but the middle seat in the middle row is small and a really tight squeeze. Ac works well.

Space and convo entertaining for everyone in the car
It is big and awesome for the kids. I love the size and space of the vehicle. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone and everyone. I love the space upfront for the driver and passenger as well. I love this car. If you need space go buy this car. Awesome!

The 2019 Toyota sienna is the best minivan on the market.
I love the 2019 Toyota sienna XLE. There is so much space, an amazing amount of cupholders, and it honestly looks nice too. I never thought I would love a minivan, but I do. I would highly recommend the Toyota sienna to anyone seeking a larger vehicle. Its roomy, comfortable, and esthetically pleasing.

Very well built 2019 Toyota sienna van.
I have a Toyota sienna van. It has automatic self sliding back doors. Is equipped with cruise control. Driver side seat is adjustable by electronics settings. Has air conditioning and heater for rear and front. Has plenty of room and eight reclining seats. Has electric adjustable rear and side view mirrors.

Perfect vehicle for my family.
The Toyota sienna is the perfect vehicle for my family of 6. It is easy to drop the kids off and pick them up from school and activities, but also we love to take it on family road trips and tailgates. This is the third Toyota sienna I have owned. I am a repeat customer because Toyota is reliable and comfortable.

This minivan is a tank in the snow!
The 2019 Toyota sienna is the only minivan with all wheel drive. That is what sold me on this over others because I live in central NY and it snows a lot. I feel very safe driving in winter now! The convenience of the doors w 2 little kids is a life saver and it is low enough to the ground my dogs can get in easily. It has so much room and the entertainment system keeps the kids occupied on long road trips!

Fuel economy, the interior and exterior design.
It is very fuel economical, spacious and neat detailing. Tire pressure monitoring system, with a backup camera and an anti theft system. I got the luggage rack and it makes it easy to pack and arrange stuff in the trunk, adjustable steering wheels and keyless starting.

Smooth ride and 3rd row seating!
I haven't had any problems with this vehicle yet. I absolutely love it, I tell everyone how great it is. It's a really smooth ride and it gets great gas mileage. It also has 3rd row seating so I can fit all the kids in. I would honestly drive this van anywhere. It really is a great vehicle and it's a Toyota so I know it's going to last forever. Which is wonderful because I don't want to have to buy a new one any time soon.

The Toyota sienna... The perfect vehicle for a family.
I would recommend the Toyota sienna to all families with children. I have 3 children that are all in sports. We are able to load up football equipment, chairs, coolers, plug in a crock pot of chili, and still have space! It is easy to get in and out of. We can also put in the extra seat so we can fit 8 passengers in our van. There are plenty of cup holders for everyone. I cannot imagine not having the Toyota sienna!

Spacious and sleek Toyota sienna.
Excellent for families and dogs. Very spacious and great to take on trips. Can transport large quantities of materials with stow and go seats and removable middle seats. Great for car seats. Adults are comfortable in middle seats. Very useful amenities.

Best vehicle I've ever owned
It has a sleek body design and, is a smooth ride. There are separate AC controls for the front and back passengers. It has a backup camera, and lots of other built-in safety features. There are power open buttons for the back passenger doors and the trunk. The back row can fold down into the floor for extra storage space. There are lots of cup holders. There are multiple power plugins for mobile devices.

Great riding van with plenty of room.
I really enjoy my Toyota sienna because I have plenty of room for my family. My grandkids love the DVD player and the comfort of the seats. We have plenty of room for the whole family to go on vacation together without being uncomfortable. And there is room for our luggage as well.

This vehicle can last for a very long time, I had a sienna.
Great for road trips and gets you around places very efficiently. But it does have some downs, like later models of the sienna it has a movie screen but in this model it does not have a movie screen. Overall I still am in love with this car and hope to have it forever.

Switched from highlander to sienna.
I love my car, specifically the height of the car seat. I can easily get in and out and get the kids in and out! I am a short person and I traded the highlander for the sienna for this reason and I am very happy I did! I also love the adjustable captain chairs in the second row.

Very reliable but a couple of features I don't like
I have had no maintenance issues with this car. I love how smoothly it drives as well as the features. It has been very reliable in the few months I have owned it. The only feature I don't like is the pre collision braking system and the lane departure alert, although these can both be turned off.

Comfortable and expandable.
This vehicle is great in that the Bluetooth, radio, sounds and the driver seat is very comfortable. The seats are comfortable too, however, I would recommend to find chairs that go back more. The trunk can be expanded by putting down the back row seats which is great for when shopping or moving.

Great for tall people! Great for comfort.
We just bought this vehicle this past spring, and already it's worth is well proven. My husband is tall, so size and comfort was a big thing for us. That ruled out both the Kia and Honda models of vans. The Chrysler, which my husband drove in for a long Army trip cross-country, didn't match up to the Toyota's ride. Additionally, the acceleration is excellent, and the ability to control the temperature throughout the cabin is great. I wish there was an ability to stow away the mid-row seats and that the mid-row tracks were removable in order to make getting in and out for my kids a breeze. The warranty is awesome, the look is good, and the back storage is alright. I wish there was more space, but the vehicle is big enough the way it is!

Family truckster. Baby hauler.
Everything is great. I wish I could afford a few more options. Toyota has quite a few trim levels. Mine is closer to the bottom of the hierarchy. There are some nice options at the top trim level. But the van is comfortable, and transports my family of 5 easily.

Very spacious, comfortable, and just great for the family.
My 2019 Toyota sienna is a perfect minivan for the family,I just love it even myself only. It is very reliable,I am driving it over a year now and the only times I went to the shop with it was to change the oil and regularly maintenance. Never replaced the brakes and tires yet, it drives still smoothly, awesome and nothing absolutely to complain about. Toyota is the nr 1 the most reliable vehicle to buy.

Great family friendly vehicle for everyday.
The minivan has great interior space and material. Technology is a great thing. Sturdy and stylish for a family. Would prefer to make choice on a AWD for more performance on the street specially when accelerating. But other than that is a great buy.

Review of a comfortable functional family vehicle.
The Toyota sienna is very reliable, comfortable and has lots of storage room. It is wide enough to fit three across and the cruise control is an improvement on past models. The light color is easy to keep clean and cool. The captain chairs adjust well.

Toyota: a brand known to be dependable, reliable and safe.
We have not had any problems at all. It is very easy to fold the seats down to add extra room for groceries. The passenger side seat heater is awesome! Great minivan, very reliable, would definitely recommend to friends and family. Also gets good gas mileage.

Sienna. Simple and spacious.
The vehicle is fantastic. I love the fact it has a blu-ray player so I can watch blu-ray movies on the go. Also, USB ports in the center for the middle passengers is fabulous. There's also very ample leg room no matter how I position the seats. This is huge for me especially during long road trips.
